A tip for all you fellow dual blade players, try to get a point of chain crit augment on the archdemon waist. It will free up a lot of space as you will get all 3 points of it from a single piece, instead of having to use a second armor piece or talisman to complete it

Question for the other math nerds out there, is it not more optimal on the Almudron and Magmadron DB's to augment sharpness and slot in a couple handicraft and prot polish to get to purple? The element boost from white to purple is a full 10%, and it's not unreasonable to think you could augment some missing skills on if you don't have the slots.
@@drxavier1870 It doesn't even need to. Both weapons have purple sharpness available at level 3 handicraft. Sharpness augment just reduces the need for a level 3 slot / augment skill which seems worth it at first glance.
The answer is no - it's too much of an investment that you could put into other skills. White to purple is not as big as other sharpness bumps, so it tends to be overrated.

So Hollow, I have another suggestion for the Dragon DB's that can be used instead of Valstrax: the Gila Ro Waga. It has slightly less element than Valstrax, but it has two 2 slots and a 1 slot and a 3 slot Rampage Slot for Elembane. They are my Dragon DBs of choice
If my math is right, with a level 1 Attack Boost Augment and Level 3 Element Augment, you can have these DBs close the gap in Raw Attack with Valstrax and have an element of around 53.
@@Dragongamz1 I run a very nice build that lets me get them up to a sliver of pink sharpness with 1 Handicraft + Qurious Crafting Sharpness Augment, and it has Protective Polish to make it work. I do this build with all 3 of the dual blades used in this video that only reach white sharpness (exchanging Valstrax for Ro Waga).
It is important to mention that chain crit 1 is more than enough most of the times, at level 1 gives you +5 and +6 element(for dual blades, as other weapons have other numbers), at level 2 and 3 it only gives 2-5 more raw depending on level, and 2-6 more element, which is kind of expensive for 2 hard to get points on that skill. Just figured I point it out.

idk this is just personal preference but i think you could ignore att boost and go for wirebug whisperer and evade extender since being able to spam spiral slice is an insane increase in damage i think its worth it
I agree. Lv 5 att boost isn't really that much (6% atk +8 flat). There are plenty of other skills that can definitely contribute more to your overall damage or survivability.
I can't even live without evade extender dude. Many of the monsters just jump and zip around entirely too much. Evade extender is excellent for closing the gap on them really fast and disengaging when they do massive AOE attacks.
Great video as always! I recommend the shagaru magala helmet as it provides 2 levels of coalescence and bloodlust, which synchronizes extremely well with the dual blades.
Losing a level of crit eye will actually work for the Silver Rathalos dual blades. Drop 1 level and you'll have 50% affinity, 100% affinity on weak spots. 10% extra affinity is a 4% damage boost with 3 levels of crit boost.
Another nice video as always... But with how the U1 gave us a lot of stuff, you can make the Mud/Magma Shredders get Pruple Sharpness without losing much if anything at all compared to before the update. All you need is +30 sharpness (+ Sharpness Augmentation on the weapon and +2 Handicraft). While I no longer find it all that enjoyable to obsess over the meta, it is still useful to *understand* it and then make informed set-building decisions with that knowledge. ...Although I'm currently not playing a lot of elemental damage focused weapons anyways but that's my decision to make lol
This build is also applicable for SNS, it’s nice that 90% of builds for other weapons work for SNS due to its Jack of all trades nature, makes me enjoy waiting for your new builds especially the more niche ones like status

I know I am a little late to the party here, but this was suuuuch a nice find to vary up my usual playstyle. I actually have to go back and make decorations I didn't before. And well, along with Qurious crafting, it is refreshing to find new builds that don't go all the way out of the way for JUST raw damage and have space for comfortable skills like Grinder or what you want on your talisman! Thank you, deeply, for all your hard work!

So I just thought I’d mention you could easily sub the narwa db for the rajang ones it won’t be as good but you are more flexible with slots at least that’s what I did works well enough for me just thought I’d mention it thanks for the great video! with the Qurious crafting, it could probably powered up further. I managed to hit a Chain Crit into the Silver Rathalos armor without losing anything else except a -2 Def (whoop di do w/e) and it could already open up a few more avenues

The difference between white and purple is 5.3% raw and 8.7% element. This would mean rathalos dual blades would do 430.9 raw + 63.75 fire. While silver rathalos would do 429.66 raw(20% base affinity is a 1.25 multiplier) + 65.55 fire. The slots on silver rathalos are also great, and once you upgrade the rampage slot to a 3 slot we can put in daoras jewel getting us to 35% base affinity. This would then only require us to have only 3 levels of crit eye in order to get 100% affinity with WEX. Put all this together with silver rathalos chest piece and you’re looking at one of the best fire dual blades sets.
How about 2 levels of Mail of Hellfire with 1 lvl Element exploit? i believe its much stronger to play MoH vs Dereliction since MoH gives bonus 10% bonus element, activates on blue scroll and just reduces your resistances vs Dereliction, since 3 qurios takes time to activate, the hp drain and flat element bonus
Were the Auroracanth Dual Blades tested? Because I thought it was strange how the Magma Shredders outmuscle the Rath Dual Blades even though the Rath Dual Blades have Purple Sharpness, so I just crafted the Auroracanth DB’s with a set that’s basically the same as yours only it has the Archfiend gloves while retaining the Ingot Greaves X, Silver Sol Mail, Lunagaron Helm & Archfiend Waist. My set has Crit Eye +6 & Attack Boost +2 (cuz I couldn’t squeeze in any extra Attack or Crit eye due to limited Tailsmans). The highest number I was able to garner off the Daora’s Hook was 207 while the highest number off the Auroracanth was 209. I understand the white sharpness is more limited than the Magma & Mud Shredders so maybe that affects damage calcs? I dunno but I always found it weird how the Auroracanth Dual Blades are not mentioned cuz the Ice Attack is significantly higher
Dereliction is such a pain, it's a cool skill for sure but I really preferred Safi's blood-sprinkler than this. At least you controlled when the damage was happening (any action with weapon drawn) but just constantly losing that much per second on top of the monster's attacks? Yikes.
I got lucky with a chain crit 2 charm with 3 one slots. I gave up raw and went all in for element and get 214 element damage before demon mode. Purple sharpness is truly underestimated with the fire and water dual blades
Wouldn't making a mixed set with the appropriate Blessing be Optimal? Ibushi Narwa for thunder dragon plus the new skill from Silver Sol, Silver Sol plus Kaiser Blessing for Fire, Silver Sol w Kushala for Water and Ice. 10٪ from the blessing plus 10% from Silver Sol is a whole 20% Just a consideration.
@@simz3192 Its possible I'm just not sure what the right combo would be. For my CB I use Kushala' gloves, Kaiser Gloves and Boots(for Water/Ice and Fire) but the chest is always Silversol. Maybe what he has is better for DB because DB favors flat damage but idk
I still swear by Tobi Kadachi legs. 2 Crit eye, 1 Crit Elem, has a neat 1 Constitution as a bonus and a 2slot on em. Also lucked out and got a 2nd Crit Elem on it from qurio crafting.
It is theoretically possible to roll the fire attack +3 off the rath chest and replace it with something like coalescence for example but good luck as the odds are so astonishingly low you’d get a god roll talisman before it

could you all folks on youtube PLEASE STOP misguiding new players with those click bait and misinformation... if you are reading this far please read a little further , dual blades is always a HEAVY stamina dependent weapon more so then bow so please get stamina skill such as: ARMOR SKILL- constitution/bubble dance/stamina surge , PALICO SUPPORT MOVE - go fight win. avoid following these videos telling players to go for full dps, they can edit those videos, they are NOT practical , if you want to play elemental just get basic elemental skill such as fire damage on level 5, your build is still viable so please dont follow these click bait edits and ruin your experience, folks with high copium might say get good but reality is its not a viable stuff for new folks who want to try the weapon
Ok this is wildly incorrect. Dual Blades are not as stamina dependent as bow. Stamina literally = damage with bow. With dual blades you just need to keep your meter up once you initially get the bar up and just go in and out demon mode, and that isn’t difficult at all and doesn’t require stamina skills. Demon flights invul frames, shrouded vault, and the great mobility of dual blades are enough to keep you on the monster and evading attacks without the use of stamina skills. If you want stamina just drink a dash juice it’s more than enough. There are plenty of high level dual bladee users out there (yuki being my favorite and excellent to learn from), both dereliction and non dereliction vids, and none of them are focusing on constitution or stamina surge on duals. It isn’t needed. Please do not follow the above information as truth.
Also, if you are new just focus on being comfortable with the weapon first, develop a playstyle and cater to it with skills, but do not take the above information about stamina being so heavily important as truth. Do you need stamina for Dual Blades, yes of course, do you need it as much as bow to have constitution and stamina surge, hell no lol. And the armor template in the video is solid. There’s better sets out there, but there’s also worse (like the one’s focusing on consitution and stamina surge lol)
Instead of Narwa, couldnt you use Khezu For your Lightning? It has a nice 47 with a 2-1-1 slot and a 2 rampage slot, not to mention it also got that sweet 20 paralysis that will benefit from the entire build as well.. not sure if they were already attainable when the vid came out, least the R10 ones.. But they seem like a more Ideal fit if you dont want any of the Skills to change drastically at all.. And with the new Quiros options to turn 2 slots into 3 slots with the Rampage slot, the 2 slot doesnt matter that much either, cause it can become a 3 slot.
rampage slots have a way too big of an impact... anything with the word "rampage" has just been a blight on rise as a whole. I hated rampages in base rise and I hate how so many weapons are just defined by nothing but their damn rampage slots in sunbreak...
In the Hunter's Notes, you can see Monster's hitzones for each body part and how effective Slash/Blunt/Bullet damage is as well as each element on said parts. The number needs to be ≥20 for Element Exploit to proc, and ≥25 for Elembane, which is rare.

Were you purposely avoiding Archdemon Boots w/ Dereliction over Ingot Greaves just to avoid the health drain or is there some reason Ingot is better for DB in this case? Wouldn't Archdemon Boots be generally better than Ingot?
Not really, you need 3 specific armor pieces for that and only get +5% elemental damage vs 20+ Element HVZ. And say you are hitting a 20 Element HVZ with Mud Shredders with 62 Element. All attacks do a portion of the raw damage of your weapon. Bigger attacks do bigger portions. The percent of your raw it does is called a motion value or MV for short. Most attacks however do full elemental damage. Another way to think of it is that most weapons have 100 MV for element. This means weaker attacks do the same elemental damage as stronger attacks (mostly) so fast hitting weak weapons benefit more from element. The highest MV for Raw DBs have is 20 on Demon Flight and a few others, but Demon Flight also has 150 MV for Element. So using a Demon Flight Example on the 1st hit, and ignoring your build other multipliers: 300 Raw x 0.7 (70 Slash HZV) x 0.2 (20 MV) = 42 62 Water x 1.1 (Element Exploit 1) x 0.2 (20 Element HVZ) x 1.5 (150 Element MV) = 20.46 = Rounds Down so = 20 So in this attack you would do 62 damage, 42 raw 20 water. Now the same example with Element Exploit 3: 300 Raw x 0.7 (70 Slash HZV) x 0.2 (20 MV) = 42 62 Water x 1.15 (Element Exploit 3) x 0.2 (20 Element HVZ) x 1.5 (150 Element MV) = 21.39 = Rounds Down so = 21 TLDR: As you can see for 2 pieces of armor you got 1 extra damage. And this is not even taking into account other sources of damage. 1 piece of armor is easy to fit into your build and gives (with the example above) 2 extra damage. But doesn't sacrifice any other parts of your build so it's generally worth it. Sorry for the long explanation but just in case you wanted to know.

Can sharpness augments even increase a weapons sharpness level, ive only seen it extend the current sharpness

I also use the Gila Ro Waga because of its decoration slots. Extra slots means extra skills.

I have a wex 2 attack 2 and a lv 1 deco slot. On my most used talisman.
I prefer lucent over ingot for the feet. It got much better skills plus higher armor IMO.

How about 2 levels of Mail of Hellfire with 1 lvl Element exploit? i believe its much stronger to play MoH vs Dereliction since MoH gives bonus 10% bonus element, activates on blue scroll and just reduces your resistances vs Dereliction, since 3 qurios takes time to activate, the hp drain and flat element bonus

Were the Auroracanth Dual Blades tested? Because I thought it was strange how the Magma Shredders outmuscle the Rath Dual Blades even though the Rath Dual Blades have Purple Sharpness, so I just crafted the Auroracanth DB’s with a set that’s basically the same as yours only it has the Archfiend gloves while retaining the Ingot Greaves X, Silver Sol Mail, Lunagaron Helm & Archfiend Waist. My set has Crit Eye +6 & Attack Boost +2 (cuz I couldn’t squeeze in any extra Attack or Crit eye due to limited Tailsmans). The highest number I was able to garner off the Daora’s Hook was 207 while the highest number off the Auroracanth was 209. I understand the white sharpness is more limited than the Magma & Mud Shredders so maybe that affects damage calcs? I dunno but I always found it weird how the Auroracanth Dual Blades are not mentioned cuz the Ice Attack is significantly higher
Dereliction is such a pain, it's a cool skill for sure but I really preferred Safi's blood-sprinkler than this. At least you controlled when the damage was happening (any action with weapon drawn) but just constantly losing that much per second on top of the monster's attacks? Yikes.

I got lucky with a chain crit 2 charm with 3 one slots. I gave up raw and went all in for element and get 214 element damage before demon mode. Purple sharpness is truly underestimated with the fire and water dual blades

Wouldn't making a mixed set with the appropriate Blessing be Optimal? Ibushi Narwa for thunder dragon plus the new skill from Silver Sol, Silver Sol plus Kaiser Blessing for Fire, Silver Sol w Kushala for Water and Ice. 10٪ from the blessing plus 10% from Silver Sol is a whole 20%

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Losing alot of damage there without those blessings, I’m not sure if it adds up.
@@simz3192 Its possible I'm just not sure what the right combo would be. For my CB I use Kushala' gloves, Kaiser Gloves and Boots(for Water/Ice and Fire) but the chest is always Silversol. Maybe what he has is better for DB because DB favors flat damage but idk

I still swear by Tobi Kadachi legs. 2 Crit eye, 1 Crit Elem, has a neat 1 Constitution as a bonus and a 2slot on em. Also lucked out and got a 2nd Crit Elem on it from qurio crafting.

As someone who doesn't use DB's without some wacky Ideas I randomly get and doesn't even Own Sunbreak, I still find this entertaining
It is theoretically possible to roll the fire attack +3 off the rath chest and replace it with something like coalescence for example but good luck as the odds are so astonishingly low you’d get a god roll talisman before it
You can also roll protective polish on augments so don’t even bother with the deco
I took all mine off and replaced it with chain crit 3 to take care of all 3 points on one armor piece. Very efficient.

if you are reading this far please read a little further , dual blades is always a HEAVY stamina dependent weapon more so then bow so please get stamina skill such as:
ARMOR SKILL- constitution/bubble dance/stamina surge , PALICO SUPPORT MOVE - go fight win.
avoid following these videos telling players to go for full dps, they can edit those videos, they are NOT practical , if you want to play elemental just get basic elemental skill such as fire damage on level 5, your build is still viable so please dont follow these click bait edits and ruin your experience, folks with high copium might say get good but reality is its not a viable stuff for new folks who want to try the weapon
Ok this is wildly incorrect. Dual Blades are not as stamina dependent as bow. Stamina literally = damage with bow.
With dual blades you just need to keep your meter up once you initially get the bar up and just go in and out demon mode, and that isn’t difficult at all and doesn’t require stamina skills. Demon flights invul frames, shrouded vault, and the great mobility of dual blades are enough to keep you on the monster and evading attacks without the use of stamina skills.
If you want stamina just drink a dash juice it’s more than enough. There are plenty of high level dual bladee users out there (yuki being my favorite and excellent to learn from), both dereliction and non dereliction vids, and none of them are focusing on constitution or stamina surge on duals.
It isn’t needed. Please do not follow the above information as truth.
Also, if you are new just focus on being comfortable with the weapon first, develop a playstyle and cater to it with skills, but do not take the above information about stamina being so heavily important as truth. Do you need stamina for Dual Blades, yes of course, do you need it as much as bow to have constitution and stamina surge, hell no lol.
And the armor template in the video is solid. There’s better sets out there, but there’s also worse (like the one’s focusing on consitution and stamina surge lol)

Instead of Narwa, couldnt you use Khezu For your Lightning? It has a nice 47 with a 2-1-1 slot and a 2 rampage slot, not to mention it also got that sweet 20 paralysis that will benefit from the entire build as well..
not sure if they were already attainable when the vid came out, least the R10 ones.. But they seem like a more Ideal fit if you dont want any of the Skills to change drastically at all..
And with the new Quiros options to turn 2 slots into 3 slots with the Rampage slot, the 2 slot doesnt matter that much either, cause it can become a 3 slot.

rampage slots have a way too big of an impact... anything with the word "rampage" has just been a blight on rise as a whole. I hated rampages in base rise and I hate how so many weapons are just defined by nothing but their damn rampage slots in sunbreak...

Hello good video, love the DualBlades. But it got me left with a question. What are the 20/25 hitzones you mentioned?
In the Hunter's Notes, you can see Monster's hitzones for each body part and how effective Slash/Blunt/Bullet damage is as well as each element on said parts. The number needs to be ≥20 for Element Exploit to proc, and ≥25 for Elembane, which is rare.

Were you purposely avoiding Archdemon Boots w/ Dereliction over Ingot Greaves just to avoid the health drain or is there some reason Ingot is better for DB in this case? Wouldn't Archdemon Boots be generally better than Ingot?

Is it worth it to get Element Exploit to 3?
Not really, you need 3 specific armor pieces for that and only get +5% elemental damage vs 20+ Element HVZ. And say you are hitting a 20 Element HVZ with Mud Shredders with 62 Element. All attacks do a portion of the raw damage of your weapon. Bigger attacks do bigger portions. The percent of your raw it does is called a motion value or MV for short. Most attacks however do full elemental damage. Another way to think of it is that most weapons have 100 MV for element. This means weaker attacks do the same elemental damage as stronger attacks (mostly) so fast hitting weak weapons benefit more from element. The highest MV for Raw DBs have is 20 on Demon Flight and a few others, but Demon Flight also has 150 MV for Element.
So using a Demon Flight Example on the 1st hit, and ignoring your build other multipliers:
300 Raw x 0.7 (70 Slash HZV) x 0.2 (20 MV) = 42
62 Water x 1.1 (Element Exploit 1) x 0.2 (20 Element HVZ) x 1.5 (150 Element MV) = 20.46 = Rounds Down so = 20
So in this attack you would do 62 damage, 42 raw 20 water.
Now the same example with Element Exploit 3:
300 Raw x 0.7 (70 Slash HZV) x 0.2 (20 MV) = 42
62 Water x 1.15 (Element Exploit 3) x 0.2 (20 Element HVZ) x 1.5 (150 Element MV) = 21.39 = Rounds Down so = 21
TLDR:
As you can see for 2 pieces of armor you got 1 extra damage. And this is not even taking into account other sources of damage.
1 piece of armor is easy to fit into your build and gives (with the example above) 2 extra damage. But doesn't sacrifice any other parts of your build so it's generally worth it.
