What the deference between the x model and e model scanner?

Did you have to hook yours up to a computer and update it before it would connect to WI-FI? Just bought the CRP 919E and I can’t connect to WI-FI to activate it.
@@garya9875 We did not, we just turned it on and it worked first time. I would call Autel and work with their tech support they are very good 💯

I just bought the C919 E and I can’t get it to connect to WI-FI so I can’t get any farther. I went to a McDonald’s where they have free WI-FI so I could set it up and it won’t connect. Any ideas on what’s wrong?
Hi Gary you may need to hook it up to a computer the first time to update it, and then it will work for you and connect to Wifi after that? If that doesn't work I'd call Autel for tech support.

Wow sorry to hear that - did you update the base software on it? With all the scan tools we have used the software is the # 1 issue that gives us problems.
is it true that you have to subscribe every year after two free years or it will not work
Hi thanks for watching and subscribing! What you said is partially correct, and what I mean is the basic OBD 2 code reading for when the check engine light comes on will still work 👍
The more in-depth diagnostics (ABS, transmission, Bi-directional controls, reset functions and so on) do need a software subscription update once a year as the OEMs do keep that updated, and they charge the scan tool companies for that, so the scan tool companies are basically passing that cost on to the purchaser of the scan tool in a yearly subscription fee 👍
That is correct in that the basic OBD2 code reading will still work and does not need a yearly software update, but the more in-depth advanced diagnostics do require a yearly software update to keep them functioning 👍
The OEM car manufacturers keep the software up-to-date, and provide it to the scan tool companies but at a cost, so the subscription fees are needed for the scan tool companies to provide the software updates 👍

The 919x is more comprehensive , has 31 test options compared to the 919e having 29 . For a DIYer not really much difference.
You know everybody's goes to the stupid stuff on these scanner ,showthe hard computer crank sensor cam sensor who wants to spend thousands of dollars to look at the damn RPMs
