I have run many brake setups on personal and customer cars for years. My MK7 GTI PP sees daily driving and a few track days a year among a few various tracks. My current setup is EBC Blue NDX front and EBC Yellow rear on Zimmerman coated rotors and ATE 200 brake fluid with RS3 brake ducts; your typical OEM+ setup. So long as you can accept not driving to the limit on braking heavy tracks (like COTA) this setup dailies perfect, has minimal sound, medium dust and great consistent braking feel. On smaller tracks (like H2R) this setup is just fine.
This daily-able category of track pads has some great options these days for those of you who, like me, only see occasional autocross or HPDE days. These can all be purchased through FCP Euro greatly reducing your long term maintenance costs. If you're keeping your car for years and doing your own maintenance you should be buying from FCP Euro!

I would love it if you guys did a break dust shoot out. Put your popular pads on clean wheels and do a couple of your test laps. See how much dust you’re getting and what colors they turn.

I read the ceramic brake pads I bought from you guys do not need to be bed in. IS that true?

It can actually depend on the brand - for example, Akebono ceramic does NOT need any bedding/break-in period. Making this content is our pleasure!

Went to your website. No information on the composition of the TEXTAR pads. I placed the order anyway, as they come highly recommended by other Porsche 944 Turbo owners. Saw this video, and they are on the bench in front of you, but you don't say anything about them... Hmmmm.... secret formula you can't disclose? Hahahahaha.... Thanks for all you do!

Another great video! however, you did not go into brake fluid - what's a good hi-temp fluid to avoid brake fade on the track? I've taken my Cayenne GTS on the HPDE track, and after a few laps have experienced terrible brake fade - and then it takes forever for the brakes to cool. Suggestions?

What about drilled or slotted on bmw sedan for street and highway driving? Should they last and not really get hot enough to crack?
Whats the life span of a slotted or drilled vs solid? Thanks!!! Learning a little here thanks

Great video, thank you! I’ve chosen Akebono ceramic pads for my A8 primarily due to the minimal dust they produce, and overall, the braking performance is solid. However, in my experience, they lack the initial bite compared to factory or semi-metallic pads. Could you recommend any pads that offer the same low dust as the Akebonos but with improved initial grip, closer to a factory setup?

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Годину тому

The general rule of thumb with Ceramics vs a Semi Metallic is that lack of bite/feel you may expect from a factory pad per say. Thats why choosing the right pad can be difficult when each compound has some pros and cons depending on what you are looking for. Akebono is certainly at the top of our list for Ceramic performance though. We hope to do a brake dust test video soon!

    • @7mpowerd

On my experience performance ceramics do as well. Say hawk ceramic vs hawk 5.0. But they need a bit more heat to get good.

They don't handle heat well at all. My brother has EBC reds while on a canyon road on a Golf R. He told me that it felt like the discs were slipping. We stopped and saw that the pads were smoking and glazed the rotors. My semi-metallic pads were fine in comparison.

    • @7mpowerd

@@waelal-zubieri5358 to be fair, red are for a OEM+ type use. Some auto cross and faster street. If you
Cool OEM, red isn’t far behind.

    • @RileyPowersports

It is difficult to out heat EBC Red Stuff on the street; but when hot they lose bite.
IMO, Red Stuff is top tier street pad for a car that will never see track. I have run it on personal and customer cars for years with plenty of positive feedback. I have also tracked Red Stuff a few times and fine them to be fine around non-brake heavy tracks when driving like 6/10s. They have a very smooth initial bite and can be run year round from -10 to 110 without hesitation. They are completely silent and require no bedding in (although I have always found a quick bed in to help even with the new compound)
Akebono Ceramic are great for more casual drivers. I am sure Hawk Performance Ceramic is fine as well but I cannot attest to that.
TLDR: Stick to a quality pad and you'll find ceramics to outperform your OE GG pads.
