Funny that you mention the bridge acting weird, because in the ORAS remake during the day you can always fish for feebas under the bridge for a 100% encounter rate.
And at night there's a spot north of the giant rock at the southern part of the river that has the same properties. I knew of the former, but just discovered the latter yesterday while my buddy was chain fishing lol
hell yeah new Goppier video, also even as a computer science student, looking at the code and then coming up with the best way to find Feebas is still incredibly impressive
Nice work! Provided that this gets seen, you will prevent many future headaches. Having said that, this will just encourage people to acquire a Milotic, not knowing the pokéblock headache that awaits them...
COLOSSAL W for including the song names in the video! You have no idea how frustrating it is when someone puts a banger in their video, but doesn't include a tracklist, and keeps yapping over it ;-;
I hope you know how much I look forward to your uploads. Found this channel after your gen2 to gen3 trade and have been following closely ever since! Thank you for the content :)
This is really interesting because you can even use this tool to narrow down your secret ID in Emerald, where I believe before you either had to have a shiny already, or use soft reset tools/timers until you essentially brute force a shiny. Cool stuff! Look forward to your next video, as always :)
Update: We made progress on the discord and I was able to catch Feebas! Still thinking of starting a new game bc I want a different starter worthy of taking on the battle frontier, ie, a jolly Blaziken. But I got the tool to work. Thank you so much.
Can't believe i completed the shiny rng emerald pokedex before this tool was created. Feebas dedinetly took me a month of research and trial and error, and this lad created an app to not need to go trough that again, what a legend.
Just tried out the tool after started a dead battery emerald run a few months ago. First water tile I checked with the tool, feebas! Thanks for making this awesome tool!
awesome video. pokemon emerald was my first favorite game. i enjoy the technical analysis and breakdowns as well as even including your own fixes. great work
Honestly i will never understand why gamefreak would make this so confusing, especially for a kid back in 2003, like how were we supposed to know this stuff?
it's really only confusing if you try to calculate where every spot is by hand like this guy did, but you dont have to do that? the actual experience of looking for feebas is extremely simple to understand, keep looking on different tiles until you find it
Remember, the trendy phrase is also synced with other games if you use the Record Corner -- both games will get whichever phrase was trendier between the two. Meaning if you mix records with your friends as the devs intended, if one person in your friend group finds the danged fish, they can tell everyone else where it is. Or, more realistically, they can forget what tile they found it on, breed it and try to sell you an egg.
Good to have you back with amazing video! Thanks for being so generous with your time to uncover and share these mysteries. Your presentations are top notch, keep up the good work!
The crazy timing of this release. I was literally about to start hunting for Feebas in my Emerald file I started recently. You just saved me so much time, thank you so much!! 😃
I just used a Feebas calc tool for my Moemon Emerald catridge, and because I didn't bother with the phrase change, the tool helped me get Feebas on the first tile it showed. People are insane
This video really scratches that itch I had during childhood where I could never find a Feebas, thanks for making this! Will we be getting a Gen IV Feebas video too?
I once had the absolute legendary luck of fishing in every spot TWICE to rule out false negatives and STILL didn't find one. It's on the pile of reasons I just plain don't go back to replay RSE and Gen 3 in general anymore
6:38 Something really interesting about the potential glitch that makes Feebas spawn in every tile under the bridge. In ORAS, if you fish under the bridge during the day, you’ll always reel in Feebas. I wonder if GF knew about that behavior in RSE (whether it was deliberately programmed or not).
0:05 and also the basement of Mt Coronet in Diamond Pearl and Platinum where it has the exact same spawning behavior, except it only appears on 4 tiles in the underground lake instead of 6.
I recently booted up my old Platinum save file and (among other things) went fishing for Feebas. I got lucky and caught a pair after just one hour (methodically searching the lake from the bottom and landing a Feebas during the 2nd row up). At least in Gen III you could spread your search out across multiple days....
I love your content. Due to my microprocessors class, I had to learn assembly and very VERY minimal c. As in like 1 week for C. I find the pokemon games, the earliest ones, being fun to toy with the code. I love the content and I always look forward to your content. Rby content might be cool too
The spooky part about this is that i just caught my first feebas. Had the game since it came out, actually started playing seriously, and i try this terrible pokemon hunt two days before a method is finally found. Ain't that just the way
A fun video (perhaps a series) idea for you, patching bugs in the old pokemon games. Especially RBY has so many well documented bugs it would be interesting to see if it is possible to patch the game into working as originally intended.
There are indeed many bugs in the older games and would be fun to cover them in the future! Currently working on a github page that has the fixes I made so far!
When I had Ruby version I by pure chance found a Feebas at the earliest route I could, went "ew" and ran away from it. I found out how rare it was and was so fucking mad at myself for running. I still kind of am, even though I've gotten Feebas since. Now whenever I go "ew" I remember that one time that I ran away from something that evolves into a really cool Pokemon and I'll catch it just in case.
I remember my gen3 feebas being annoying to get, slightly inconvenient, but not nearly this damning. I think as soon as i discovered i needed it for the regis i had it within the same day.
This was an amazing video and you can tell how much time and effort went into making it, that being said, I'd really appreciate if you could answer two quick questions c: ; Would this method work for emulators ? And would it maybe be possible to make a small video tutorial on how to install your program? From someone with zero python experience, it's lowkey intimidating just to try and install lol tysm for your time :>
The way you found all of this out :o Then theres me. I couldn't even use the dang tool. I don't have the slightest clue how python works. I kept getting syntax errors. Whatever that means..
I'm working on turning it into a webtool for easier access! A lot of people struggle with it and it needs to become easier. For now, I can help you best on Discord if possible for you. Were you able to install Python and the libraries needed?
@@Goppier Awesome. Python yes, but I don't know what you're referring to when you say "libraries." Do you mean the zip files in the find feebas folder?
Unfortunately it does, it is borderline impossible to know what the value is with a working rtc. Only way then is save file extraction and looking at the value directly. The battery doesn't need to be removed, it just needs to be not working if that makes sense!
For Emerald that should still work! For Ruby and Sapphire, we would need to figure out what starting seed is used. This should also be possible, but not with the current tool. Maybe an idea for a future update!
Anyone know who the pmd remix at 9:28 made? Like the end of the road one Edit: wow it isnt pmd uts so similar tho and i noticed that the song names are getting shown in the video so found it
There's this streamer I watch that's been trying to catch a shiny feebas on stream. If someone makes a donation, he resets and has to find the spot again. It's been like 5 months now lmao
Funny that you mention the bridge acting weird, because in the ORAS remake during the day you can always fish for feebas under the bridge for a 100% encounter rate.
You can what
I had no idea
And at night there's a spot north of the giant rock at the southern part of the river that has the same properties. I knew of the former, but just discovered the latter yesterday while my buddy was chain fishing lol
@@absentcorner yes, i did some chain fishing for shiny feebas so i could put them in the GTS to get some rarer entries for my dex.
I kept checking Bulbapedia over the years and figured someone would find out all of this way sooner and build a calculator to find Feebas.
But there's already a tool, just search on Google: "Feebas Tile Calculator".
Man, "Less PC" was so 7 minutes ago, Potion Festivals are where it's at
mine was "Action RPG"
One of mines were "Adult Toys". I'm not making this up.

Truly the best game to have existed

It's things like this that make me wonder, would it have just been easier for Emerald hackers to backport the Feebas behavior from OR/AS to Emerald?
