- Shiny Feebas in its original generation, the best kind of Feebas. I can't tell you how surreal it feels to have this shiny in my collection. Pretty crazy how well this DTQ progressed, to be honest, I can't believe it's over. It's a proud yet sad moment as always when you complete a quest. I ended it with a challenging hunt that I'm proud of.
Feebas is regarded as one of the most difficult hunts in the series, never mind in Ruby/Sapphire but I'm here to pour water on that fire. It's nowhere near as bad as what people suggest. I think a lot of misinformation leads to the theory it's as bad as what some people think so hopefully this video is a little down to earth reminder if you decide to hunt it yourself. I really hope others do as it's quite a nice relaxing hunt. This was specifically quite nice to stream too over on Twitch.
There's a common misconception that certain natured Feebas cannot evolve in 3rd and 4th Gen. This is completely false as you will see here; • [Live] Shiny Feebas af... This video shows an Impish natured Feebas, one of those claimed to be unable to evolve, actually evolve. It's all about the Berries.
Certain natured Feebas are more difficult to evolve if they dislike Dry Pokeblocks but simply using a Pamtre Berry for your PokeBlocks will make ANY Feebas evolve. Let's stamp out this decade old myth once and for all.

Wait they have a chance to change? I've never heard of that before. I thought for feebas the spots were set once you started a game. I had a dead battery too though so idk

One of the most unique way finding a Pokemon, I remember when I was young it took me 3 months to find a normal one because I didn't know how the Feebas mechanic worked, but when I found it it felt like finding a shiny! Congrats on the shiny Feebas dude, looks amazing in Colosseum, can't wait for more!! :D

Oh my God, I completely forgot to mention one key thing! The Battery!
Okay so if your battery is dead, your tiles never change. Once you find the Feebas tile, the 1/16 chance never occurs. There is an option to remove the battery but it comes at a cost. Once you interrupt the Berry Program bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Berryglitch you can't get it restored on that save file. That means no Berry growth, no daily events, no lottery, swarms etc. I do not recommend this method if you care about the save file you're hunting on; ie a quest file. Sorry, I completely forgot to mention this in the video. I just assumed you wouldn't want to interrupt the battery on a quest file for important daily things like swarms, berries etc.
The best way to hunt this Feebas would be in Emerald (Suction Cups) and have a dead battery to have a static tile :)

This Pokémon actually brought me into shiny hunting. It was a year or two after the release of Emerald and I was trying to complete the dex as a kid.
Without the opportunity to access the internet, I only knew that Feebas spawns on a few piles on this Route. I was fishing for a few hours and suddenly found a golden Magikarp. I didn't know that other Pokémon than the Red Gyarados had shiny forms.
This brought me into shiny hunting about 14 years ago.

This gives me so much nostalgia. I will never forget the joy I felt as a 10 year old when I found a Feebas tile in Emerald after 5 hours of searching. I didn't get a shiny, so big kudos to you for having that much patience to hunt Feebas.

Congrats on the Shiny Feebas! I actually tuned in to some of your Twitch streams and the tips you gave on there helped me alot with finding my own Feebas tiles and catching a Feebas (not a shiny but 3rd Gen nonetheless) so thanks a bunch!

Congrats on the shiny Feebas! I managed to find one by accident on my Sapphire file a couple years back. It's such an amazing shiny to have!
tell me about it haha i had one myself (and still do, transferred her all the way through the various gens ^_^) and boy was it the envy of the neighbourhood XD it got to the point where folks actually offered me real money to get this one XD hard to believe it is now one of the easiest shinies to get since ORAS :p it really took some dedication and luck to get this baby back in the R/S days, but boy was it worth it! especially if you also have Colloseum and/or Gale of Darkness. shiny Milotic is such a gorgeous one.

Excellent video as always and thanks for shedding some light on this hunt, I actually didn't know about how the old rod is preferred for that reason, I guess I knew it took only one bite to hook the Pokémon with it but I guess I never connected the dots..

Edit: I remember I once found a post on some Pokémon forum about how somebody made a tool that inspects your save file and gives you the exact feebas tiles' location which is probably what I'd use if I were to hunt this, and I think there was also a response from you down there (username was sonikks1 I think and the thread was probably made a good 4 years ago), so yeah, for anyone who could be interested, that's a thing too!

Congrats man and thanks for clearing up some of those misconceptions! I'd always thought the whole "certain natures can't evolve" seemed a bit sus. Also the fact that the tiles only have a 1/16 chance of changing daily is awesome, I'd always heard/read that they change every day which makes the hunt much more intimidating. I've been waiting for this since I saw you get it on twitter. I so proud of you. I'm still stuck on my treecko so I'm nowhere near getting 6 pokemon.
This is also my first and only shiny hunt so far. I've come to 2100 RE's when my battery died and the shiny method changed to frame instead of random. Seeing this made me very happy and I guess I have to replace my battery and pick up where I left.

deffo! and it took real dedication (and a prayer to keep the golden karps away) to get this in Gen 3. ORAS made it far easier to get but it is still a gorgeous shiny evoline to have, especially shiny Milotic!

Ayyy nice one, I just got mine in my ORAS dtq. The awesome thing was I just went under the bridge and casted my first rod, and bam shiny feebas. Is that full odds or is the fishing thing lower from the get go?

I'm currently doing the same hunt. Due to misinformation online I was using a super rod for about a month until someone on Reddit told me about the old rod. I did phase a shiny Carvanha though so I'm not complaining!

A potential point of interest for obtaining Pamtree Berries: If you have Fire Red or Leaf Green, you can obtain Pamtree Berries via the Pickup ability. The Pickup item pool for Fire Red and Leaf Green contains many berries, so if you have access to either of these games and have Celio's PC linking quest complete to trade between these games and the Hoenn games, you can trade over Pamtree berries.
9:41 Serebii's that source, it falsely states that you can only find it with Super on the Route 119 Pokearth page. Fell for the bait while trying to find a Feebas for my own DTQ, so glad I watched this video to make things easier for me before I wasted hundreds of hours of my life on the Super Rod...
yeah there are a good number of errors in Gen 5 and under games. It's frustrating. Glad it helped you out!

I've found a shiny fearow in firered then shiny chinichow in sapphire then I chained a shiny snortunt in diamond to get a shiny froslass
(Edit) and in my last playthrough of sapphire training in victory road I found a shiny golbat now it's a crobat in soul silver

Amazing shiny! I am really happy seeing the shiny team coming together, I am personally making my dream shiny time in pokemon sword and shield. I honestly got the idea when I saw the shiny treecko video a while back. If I'm being honest, I gave up on a shiny charmander. But I was breeding deinos for my playthroughs of pokemon sword, one shined. Same thing happened with larvitar. I wasn't even hoping for a shiny. After that I've gotten a shiny sobble and scorbunny, now I'm on my way for a shiny eevee. 410 eggs in rn
(Btw I also got a shing dracovish too- i got really lucky with only 278 fossils in i think :)

Yes absolutely, the best way would be Emerald with Suction Cups and a dead battery game for sure. Tile is static with a dead battery.
