I love your videos, you are practical, thorough, and have a seemingly great personality with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Thank you for helping us understand our plants better.
Thank you for taking the time to write this ❤️
Where you're talking about watering you look at that beauty like being in love. 😅 Love it. 😊
❤️💕
I just bought a small pot of watermelon peperomia. I hope I can make it grow bigger and propagate some. I love watching your videos. they're helpful and inspiring.
This lady gave me one stem cutting of a very rare plant “Ruby Red Begonia”, I rooted in water,(only have one shot to propagate), after I saw fine roots in about 4 months , I planted in soil, now I saw bunches of babies leaves coming from underneath the soil/stem.
I just got my first Peperomia and knew nothing about its care.Your video has been quite helpful so I will follow your directions and see how well she thrives.I plan to get more soon for I love the beauty of the leaves.
My first peperomia is watermelon p. I over watered and got rotten. My no. 2 is heart shape varigated peperomia thank God is so healthy. Thanks for sharing watching from Guam USA.
Please make this type of video more! Complete care of particular plant - most needed right now: pilea peperomiodes :) Thanks.
Will do! Thank you
I JUST BOUGHT ONE AND I'M VERY HAPPY TO GET ALL THESE TIPS FROM YOU. ***
❤️❤️
Oh your video made me so happy! Wonderful planty energy. Thank you! Having a bit of watermelon trouble but have now repotted, so claws crossed!
Good luck 🙂
Thank you, this was very informative! I bought my first peporomia today. It‘s small/medium sized and in kind of a rough condition, which is probably why it was so cheap 😅 I thought it had potential and I can rescue it. So now I‘m gonna start by cutting some of the unhealthy looking leaves and trying to propagate them. Your video was very helpful! ☺️
Yaye ❤️ thanks for the dose of positivity
I like this plant. Very distinct and iconic
😀
This is the most helpful video I've found so far - thank you!!
🤗
Love this! My friend is giving me cuttings from his watermelon peperomia and this was such a helpful guide.
Cool! Good luck with it!
Small roots , Small pot , Happy Plant 👍💯👍
My first one was a peperomioides, and I just got a giant watermelon one today, and I love it!
Yaye, the care is quite similar
My go to plant guy! Love it!
Thank you Shaun, this is good. I will re pot mine. Mine is too lanky not sure why.
Such an informative video. I like the way you deliver the info so clear and calm. I’m a beginner for houseplants and about to learn so many things as i can before buying this plant. Btw im from Malaysia, and you deserve my subscribe! ✨
Thank you so much your support means a lot! You can DM me on instagram @bo.tan.ist if you have any questions, I'm much more active there :)
Learned a lot from this video. I’ve killed a couple of these. They’re not that easy to find here in the states other than online. We’ll try again when I can get my hands on another plant. Thanks to all you videos. Learning a lot from my mistakes. Good to hear your experience as well. 🙋🏻♀️
Mine has grown so bushy its flopping over each other haha. I would have passed you a cutting if we were close by. Hope you get your hands on one of these soon
@@onlyplants sure would’ve been nice. You’re so sweet. Anyone who refers to his plant as ‘cute’ in my book, has a sweet soul. Please keep the videos coming 🙋🏻♀️
Thanks for sharing this video. Very informative!!
Wow! Nice introduction! Thank uou so much 🙏
😀😀
This is so helpful! Please make more specific plant videos!
Thank youu. More to come!
Thanks for vidio ..keren..
Beautiful plant🌿
I love all your tips and videos! Thank you for taking the time to make your videos the way you do ☺️
Question, I have a peperomia frost. They look similar is the care similar? Also, I propagated one that has rooted really nicely! When is it ok to move to soil?
Yeppp they are similar. Frost is harder though. Move to soil when you see secondary branches of roots. Or you can also wait for some pups to appear at the base. Dont plants it too deep
My watermelon peperomia leaves are so big, like it’s triple the size of a normal watermelon plant. I Wasn’t into her but eventually I have started loving her a lot. They are just so beautiful 😍
Ive seen some huge leaves too and they make you want to hug them!
onlyplants oh yeah, perhaps my plants will grow huge too, however it’s in a 6 inch pot so chances are 0😅
This video helped me a lot. I got it a while ago but wasn't really sure how to treat them. Next time I won't throw it away when one stem is breaking off. 😅
Thank you so much for your advice😍
You are most welcome 😉
Hi! I like your tips. I'm a beginner beginner hehehe. I just got so fascinated with this plant recently. It's a rare plant from where I live. I had to purchased one online which is kinda just a leap of faith for me. I've been searching for videos on UA-cam on how to care for this. I've learned a lot from others as well but what I've really appreciate about your video is how you made it sound easy and inspiring.( others strongly emphasized how this plant is so difficult. It made me worry. hehehe) PLUS,potting size tip is really useful and unique. I've never got that from others . It's really a take away from this vid.
Thank youuu I hope you have great luck with yours. When you receive it take a few leaves off for propagation just in case? Mine usually died back a bit from shipping.
So helpful! I didn't know the rootball should be 20% of the pot size. Excellent. I'm getting ready to do some repotting, and I think I have a tendency to use too big pots. Thank you!
Do check out my latest video on watering. In the middle of the video I draw a diagram showing why we shouldnt use oversized pots!
When I propagated this, I cut the petiole all the way near the leaf, leaving a tiny portion of petiole. It grew roots faster. 😄
Oh yess the shorter the petiole the better!
So happy to find your channel. I'm hooked! Greetings from Australia
Thank you so much! Hope ya’ll are safe over there ☺️
I’m going to have to propagate my watermelon...i cant believe you cut it back and grew!
I love your videos! 🌿🌱
Thank you 🥰
Love love love your videos! More please ♥️ viewer from philippines
Thank you so much!
Amazing! it helps me a lot! can you please make videos for philodendron Brasil !
Thank you for showing how to propagate a pepperomia. I have learned so much/
Can you do a video on caladiums please
Caladiums are quite interesting... so they are tuberous plants and grow new tubers sideways. One way to propagate it is to unpot them and divide the tubers. Keep in mind they will be dormant a few months per year... most people throw them away thinking they're dead.
Awesome
Thank you :)
Very informative video, hopefully able to buy one to try
Hope you can get your hands on one. Try growing them from cuttings too if you have the patience :)
In Singapore, theres a trend in the plant shipments. Now theres lots of Pitcher plants, sadly dont see any Peperomia on sale anymore
Lovely video, very informative!
Keep it up 🌿😊👍
Ps. Ωραίο τατουάζ 😃
Thank you so much 🐸💕
Haha I cannot read Greek 🙈
❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much for this. I have one and will propagate it soon.
Yaye!
Thanks for this very informative video, got some new facts and tips! I have a few different types of Peperomia, from medium to very succulent and though all different, all forgiving as you say, and unfussy happy growers. Only my Peperomia Rubra, a trailing plant with small round leaves I can't seem to make thrive. Not clear whether it has too much or too little water. I suspect it might be a bit sensitive and needs consistent moisture lever: never too wet or too dry, but not sure. Cool that you are about the science. Look forward to finding out your Hoya tips as well! Greetings from Ireland
Im having trouble with my peperomia prostrata!! Not all peperomias are created equal I guess 😅
@@onlyplants @onlyplants My 2 small prostratas have benefited and thrived after I added bark to the soil. I keep them more moist than my others and now am able to forget about them, the bark holds on to the moisture in between my weekly waterings. I did need to sterilise the bark first. Best wishes and look forward to exploring the channel !
onlyplants
I water mine from the bottom only and let them get moistened only halfway. I never water fully to the leaves/stem as the leaves are delicate and can rot away if wet. I leave them alone for about 2 weeks. I have 4 of them (2 in 4” plastic nursery pots on my coffee table in my living room and 2 in a 2” ceramic pot and a 2” plastic pot in the window for morning/evening sunlight). The 4” pots seem to be growing a little faster than the window ones. Not sure if it is because of different types of soil as the nursery pots soil seems to stay moister than the soil in the ceramic/plastic pots.
Hi sean, nothing is wrong with the roots, they are normal, tiny, delicate and fiber like, Its always the same when I repot that peperomia.😁😁
Thank youu
@@onlyplants your welcome sean
I would love to see update on the plant you just repot :)
ooo i posted one udpate on IG this week, and today I posted a story on propagating them by leaf only!
@@onlyplants what's your IG?
Also, do you recommend using terracotta pot with holes or without for this plant?
With holes please
Yes i also like it when they turn in one side. Hehehe❤️
Hey 😁 my peperomia is growing really well, constantly popping out new growth and some leaves are really quite big!! My only issue is the leaves are funny shapes and also seem to crack. I try and let it dry and and usually bottom water. It's so odd because apart from the leaf cracking or funny shape it's looking really healthy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I've googled everywhere and can't seem to find an answer!! Thankyou 😅
Hello I believe its the light. Did you put it in high light? Do DM me for a reply as youtube doesnt notify me on comments replies. 😀
Do your terra cotta pots have drainage holes? I love all the different shapes and sizes of the pots. I've never seen them like that, where did you buy them?
Yepp they all have drainage holes. I buy them from random shops online (tokopedia) but they are only available in Indonesia.
If this plant could talk it would just say “kill me now.” 😂😂😂
Thanks for such detailed and informative tips! I put mine in quite bright indirect sunlight and I watered it once a week but the leaves are so thin and they have stopped growing for quite a while...do you have any suggestions of what should I do with that? Thanks again!
Hello, try fertilizing lightly? Also check to see if they are very root bound or have pests (mealy bugs especially) living in the roots
@@onlyplants thanks for the suggestions! I’ll try to fertilize it lightly and also I’ve already checked the root and no root bound or mealybugs sighted, but the roots dried out big time..
I have a Peperomia Watermelon that I inherited from someone else who really didn’t take good care of it. It was supper droopy and leggy when I got it. Several of the leaves got so beaten up I ended up cutting them off and propagated a few. One of the propagation survived and is now putting out a bunch of new growth. The mother plant is super slow to recover however. I know it’s not dying because the leaves are getting bigger butter of them are curling under 😭 I’ve checked for bugs several times, no bugs, and the plant is sitting on a humidity tray. I fertilize lightly every 2 weeks. I don’t know what else to do beside just waiting for the cutting to grow big. It’s my favorite plant 🌱 so I guess I’m getting impatient
They do take a while to recover. Just be wary not to overwater them they are quite unforgiving. Water only the leaves feel limp to the touch/fold
Re-watching because I just got a watermelon pep. and it's acclimated enough for propagation now. ^_^
How shallow is shallow? Is 1/2" in soil too deep?
1/2” is a little bit deep. But that depends on the media you gave it. If its not very compact it should be ok.
so helpful! thank you! :)
Very well said. ❤️
Thank you 😅
This was such a great video! Just got myself one and Im so nervous about killing it.
Could you please do a video on the Begonia Maculata
Hey you, will do a video soon on that. Im trying to rescue mine because I mistreated/neglected it haha. They like medium indirect light and in my humid climate they must dry out completely between watering. Also do not mist the leaves they are very prone to bacterial/fungal spots if you do!
@@onlyplants Oh amazing, thank you! Good luck rehabilitating yours.
Omg I purchased this 3 times and it broke my heart 3 times. Don't know what it wants from me it grows for sometime and then goes down down down
Awww... Usually its the watering that needs to get right. When in doubt, propagate and start from scratch because they propagate well and the new folige will be adapted to your environment
@@onlyplants ok hm good point will try out . Since here it is extremely cold I think the problem lies there
6:20 Does the same thing go for African Violets? Like, I shouldn’t plant the water propagations too deep in the soil because it will “bury the babies”.
Yes! Its the same with them.
Please tell me what you have done to the watermelon peperomia that was almost dead after you cut them down to the soil level. How did you care for the play with roots only?
The plant you saw in the video resulted from that cut. In my channel I have released a second peperomia argyeria video do check that one out as I did cut it completely off one more time 😀
@@onlyplants yes, I watched both video of your watermelon peperomia. Thanks for your reply. So if there is none leave left for the parent plant, it’s not likely for it to survive?
thanks
Can I use aroid mix for peperomia? Im Scare the delicate roots will struggle when they meet cocohusk and bark and charcoal cause the mediums are big but I like that it’s airy
In nature peperomias are actually epiphytes 😀 so they actually climb up things and latch on to them. Actually a peat based potting mix amended by lots of perlite is good for them too.
I'm really getting confused with this plant. I followed an advice to water it when it gets a little droopy, so I did that (the soil was completely dry), it got better the next day, but then I was away for another 2 days and came back to it being droopy all over again (the soil now being moist, but not waterlogged). So I've put a grow light over it for some time and then left it be - another 3 days passed and some leaves are still droopy as hell, but some are ok. I've never had a plant act out like that before, anyone has an idea what it wants?
It might be root rot and loss from dryness. You can try to cover the entire thing with an upside down glass jar or clear plastic to tent humidity. This helps them perk up sometimes and put out new roots.
Also droopy leaves could be sign of pest, sometimes they can live in the rootball.
Hope this helps 👀
What makes them droop? Mine is down around the pot and not standing upright
Could be watering issue causing root rot or dryness. Could also be pests... check the underside of leaves carefully. They also dont ship very well in case you just got it
Hi what potting mix do you usually use? #plantmamabeginners
My peperomia almost died but l saved her lm so happy 😀
My paperomia is dying right niw because of root rot. What should i do?
Hi I wanted to ask… I left large watermelon during holidays at a friends and he killed it he watrered too often but left with some leave and stems … I saw your video saying u cut it back to root level will it grow Back again do u know?
If the roots are good yes you can 😀 also if the leaves are plump you can propgate those too
@@onlyplants the thing is I rarely propagated 3 leaves successfully but the mother plant was so huge and I lost it now… I transferred it to sphagnum moss cut to root level but rotted …. Can understand how u saved yours
Do you recommend to water them on of the top or bottom ?
Both works just fine. I’d say alternate it 😀
Ok tks
I just got mine. Thanks for the care tips. I hope I won't kill it. 😅
Good luck :) let it dry out between waterings ya
You said they can tolerate being in airconditioned rooms?
They love it in fact. Allegedly, peperomias grow in the winter
A few of mine formed little brown spots what is this from
Bacteria or fungus. Dont mist the leaves and do fertilize lightly to increase their immune system against further infection
TQ for the infos, seems to be killing them all the time
Keep trying! You’ll get it right at some point
Hii, can i use cocopeat to grow Pepromias
You can but i would really back off with watering. They thrive better when you amend the soil with perlite. Also do fertilize because coco peat has no nutrients
Can you tell me, the best potting mix composition for this plant ?
General potting mix or aroid potting mix. I have two videos with those titles so check it out!
@@onlyplants oke thanx
I now don't feel that peperomia is so touchy now, You are Like Magic, Angel Blessing's from Canada.....What is your Star-Sign?
Gemini here sir 😝
" wow " Are you a True Gemini?
Mine is curling a lot and now turning slightly yellow 🥺 do you have advice? I've tried watering differently, doing "egg" tea, moving locations and it's still having new growth but it's not looking pretty 😭
Ooo they do not like to be moved. They are creatures of habit. I recommend to propagate them and start over. The new plant will adapt to your environment and care style. They can take a very wide variety of conditions 😀
@@onlyplants thanks for the reply! The main reason I moved is because they didn't like where I brought home to (shady area outside, but I live in zone 10b🙃) so I brought them inside and they've been there since. But trust me since day 1 I started propogation army 😂
Shallow roots is rot rot.
My peperomia is not growing properly so wat type of soil have to use
They can live in any soil actually as long as its fast drying. Try propagating them and growing them in your medium of choice, they will adapt and thrive.
hi ,what soil do you use
Hello do check out my soil video on this channel, I use my general purpose mix for peperomias. But any mix will do actually they are quite adaptive
@@onlyplants thank you!
cantik
Makasihh 😊💕
Where are u exactly?

onlyplants can i visit ur garden??
I keep overwatering mine and I have question about the propagation, IDK how but most of the leaves that I propagated rotted in water, do you put the leaves on certain location?
Hello a few people wrote in with the same problem... but all of them have one thing in common, the cutting was placed in low light. Be sure to put that cutting in bright indirect light, in a small vessel and dont change the water frequently
@@onlyplants Thank you! will try again if I happen to get 1 watermelon pepperomia again someday
Ricky Benyamin Tjandra
1) Try propagating the leaves (sliced across in half) in soil in a slightly open zipped plastic bag. 2) Propagate the stem with leaf attached in water....but not too much water. I’m propagating some in a small bottle placed in a cache pot. The leaves get the light but not the roots. The two leaf stems are all from a mother plant that died off this spring. Somehow the silly plant didn’t dry out completely and rotted as I’d watered it from the top. The stems have grown a lot of roots and some baby leaves have grown out and are growing out of the water. I’m not sure whether to leave them as is in the water or plant them. I know some propagations that have grown in water for a certain length of time have a hard time adjusting to soil and can die quickly. So I’m a little conflicted about what to do all my different peperomias propagating in water since Spring.
Peperomias hate me. I already killed 2 pots of watermelons 😭 I'll stick to haworthias and admire thicc peperomia like yours
Everyone have different plants that suit them. Maybe take some time off, and try again? Did you figure out what killed those watermelons?
" Happy Belated, Birth-Day " What is your date of Birth, Spirit Has Drawn Me Here...
i like peperonia argireia but in Italy Rome is difficult to have this
They are so easy to propagate. I hope you can track down some people who may hopefully share a cutting. I know I would 😌
My leaves are all curled and small leaves bunched up togather...no big leaves like yours...what to do?
It could be a few possibilities. DM me on instagram @bo.tan.ist so I can have a look?

@@onlyplants OK thank you
Hi! I just bought mine a week ago and it was placed in a relatively large pot. Then this week one of its leaf and stem was droopy. I noticed that the soil was super dry. Should I change the soil and transfer it to a smaller pot? This is one of my first plant and I am worried about it. Thank you so much in advance!
Hello, try to fold one of the old leaves before you water. If its firm its full and do not water, if it folds easily and feels limp its time to saturate the pot slowly with water. You can repot it if you have some experience with it... but repotting will always stress out a plant. See if you can nurse this plant back to health in its current pot, and steal a cutting or two for propagation for plant insurance!
Hi
When the leaves or a leaf start to droop, or the leaf is soft, that’s a sign that the plant needs water. The soil is super dry so water it and it should perk back up within a few hours. Water from the bottom until it’s moistened only half way. If the plant is watered too heavily or watered up to its stems, it will won’t dry out and will rot away quickly and your plant will die. Remember that its roots are finer than thread so go carefully with the water and let it drain out well with no excess water coming out of the drainage hole.
Since your plant may be in a too big of a pot, water so that the entire pot/soil isn’t saturated with water. Make sure it gets some soft morning or late evening sun. Every now and then give it some fish fertilizer. Or a little black coffee or black tea as a treat for growth.
Watermelon peperomias like all peperomias can be divas, act high maintenance and sometimes unforgiving if you take a little too long in their watering schedule. I’ve lost a few by watering from the top or letting them be dry for too long over the every 7-8 days stretch. Good luck with yours!
please speak also Hoya thanks
Next week is a huge Hoya video :)
Not a guy. If you propagate you don’t say father plant, you say mother plant
Haha force of habit 😅 but you are right, mothers give live❤️
Great care tips! Yes, the roots are very, very shallow. I ended up using cactus potting mix to get the extra drainage. And terra cotta is a great solution.
When i put them in water before they start developing roots they become mushy n rot in water. Any advise?
@@evelynwong5643 I let the stem just barely touch the water. Sphagnum moss may be a better method also.
@@yeahivekilledthat719 thanks for the advise
Hi i also tried planting them in soil the problem is some leaves turn black wilted n eventually died.while i see some video has success i sprouting new leaves
