28:59 fun fact about that: IRL it is actually *much worse* to be underwater when an explosion is occurring, vibrations travel a lot faster, and water has more mass than air, so just imagine this huge ship detonating, essentially hurling kilometers of water into your body, you'll just be ripped apart from a pressure wave outside of water you worry about debris, underwater you straight up die
Which is why divers in the Navy or something I can't be bothered to remember are trained to float on surface if explosion may occur. Mythbusters tested it too apparently.
This ecosystem is so good because the person behind the designs of its various creatures does speculative biology. I think the guy even has a series that follows a sentient species known as the Birrin.
1:09:52 oh my GOD that was genuinely so cinematic. Being alerted by just the shadow slithering by on the ground, looking up to see the source only to see an even more vague silhouette than the shadow, giving you no details to decipher what you're dealing with... Stuff like this is why I love this game.
Fun fact: you can survive on purified (not just filtered) water and packed rations for quite a while, and that, along with avoiding damage, can actually delay a certain event.
Subtitles only affect your PDA Alerts and some later game events. In your settings, there is a tab labeled "accessibilities". Under that, there is an option called "PDA Pause". With this on, the game will pause while the PDA is open. Alternatively, you can find, build, and sit on chairs. This will allow you to read your PDA without having to worry about your food and water draining. Hope this helps. :)
Two quick tips: 1) if you aren't using the seaglide or a vehicle, you swim faster on the surface. 2) leave some of the titanium ship debris around, they'll be useful later
Hey, if you want a tip, try and scan for a sea moth as quick as possible. Of course, it's not really a good "survey the depths vehicle" but it'll help you with giving details about the depths and how you feel about a vehicle that allows you to explore the deep dark depths. Also, look for a power cell charger and a battery charger. It'll save you a lot of hassle with battery/power cell life. Try and get some salt for cured food, which lasts longer then normal food with the side effect of draining your thirst. Overall, great video!
I never thought I’d see you playing this game. But now that I think about it, this is exactly the sort of game you’d play. Especially when building bases, you have the insulation from the giant sea creatures swimming outside your window
I remember the first time I played Subnautica and I was very scared, I couldn't get out of the lifepod to explore, it felt like thalassophobia, but after a while I opened the game and played and lost my fear and this game ended up being one of the best games I've played to date, simply incredible, a level of exploration that no other game has managed to achieve, I loved every detail of this game ♥️
OMG HE IS PLAYING SUBNAUTICA!!!! Yay!!! This is going to be entertaining ❤ love you’re videos and can’t wait to watch this later and see what you record next! ❤
One of my biggest fears is taking a dive into the ocean from a boat and not being able to see the bottom, just a void of water that obstructs all light not far from the surface. knowing that anything could be less than 20 meters away from me and i wouldn't be able to know. but even more, the crushing pressure of the depths the deeper I go, the worse it gets. its so hard to put into words the fear that strikes into me. Also, I love this series! I love how you actually read the databank. Good job!
OH MY GOD!!! I'm so happy that you're finally playing Subnautica. I recently replayed both Subnautica games and I loved it. This game is awesome and I can't wait to watch this entire. And I really really hope that you will make the Cyclops submarine as soon as you can. It is incredible, specially for exploring in the early and mid game. It's sad how some people only experience it in the end of the game, where it is practically useless.
YESSSS!! I WAS HOPING FOR THIS! I actually posted about it as a suggestion on the discord (then realized it was already posted on a thread so I deleted mine and just added to it lol) BUT I AM SO EXCITED!
SUBNAUTICA, ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE GAMES ON LIBRARIANS CHANNEL? Dude, you gotta stop coming out with these crazy series, you're spoiling us too much
I love your content man. You are one of the only UA-camrs who successfully makes it seem like an accomplishment worth noting when you make something new, or discover something (especially in your more open world series, such as this one or your Minecraft series). Every other UA-camr falls flat in this regard. There are many more things I like about you, but this is the one reason I like you that I have seen nobody else mention.
A quick tip, if you make a Power Cell it will use Batteries of any charge level and make a fully charged Power Cell. So prioritize using near/fully empty Batteries when making Power Cells.
OMG... I already know that this will be one of my favority playthroughs of my favorite game. I just found your channel because I am always looking for new playthroughs. It's my addiction. And you, sir, seem to be the perfect candidate for this wonderful gem of a game! And PLEASE read! It is nothing you "do to us" but rather something you treat us with. Or at least me. A BIG part of the SN experience is the reading, the slow assambly of the story, the recognition of connections... And too many UA-camrs do not read at all, which is always a little disappointing. Thank you so much for sharing! I am very much looking forward to future episodes! :)
Dude, your playthrough is AWESOME, specifically for those who love the ecosystem of the game. Learning how all the creature work and interact, and how they were made is SUPER cool, and nearly everyojne ignored the PDA data if it isn't immediately lore related, which sucks when there's like 80% more that people just miss. PS, you missed one of the coolest scenes, they really should clarify the explosion isn’t lethal but seeing the Aroura finally explode is so cool, and I’m kinda sad you missed it this playthrough.
Subnautica is one of my all time favorite games, I’m a huge fan of survival games and the whole farming/resource gathering you do. However with Subnautica, I’m terrified of open water and the ocean really in general, the level of horror in this game is intense, even running into a wall has made me jump before 😂 then there’s an entire story behind the survival with a lot of it being clues and pieces you have to piece together, they don’t just tell you everything, you actually have to look and read. I’m very happy of my 100% on game progress.
DAILY UPLOADS DAILY UPLOADS !!! we we will need a fast playthrough series of the game for sure............thank you so much for playing this!!! ahhh !!!
If you like this, you might enjoy The Long Dark's story mode. Very unique experience, and the survival elements are just a compliment to the environment and exploration factors, in my opinion.
I know subnautica came out quite awhile ago- but can I just say how scary it is the main character also almost dies in a very scary way of being trapped in the life pod and burning to death-
I'm an on/off viewer (love the 3 short games and MC vids!), but oh man, this is the game I was always to uncomfy to play - so it's a perfect series for me :D
IM SO HAPPY YOURE PLAYING SUBNAUTICA!!!! Also your reaction to the shadow of that certain leviathan had me cackling omg! This game is full of experiences and I hope you enjoy it so much!! The exploration is my favourite part of the game because it just keeps going!
I've said this on every person's first video when they play this game. So I'll say it here. This game rewards your creativity. If you can inch it, if you can bullshit it, they let you do it.
Librarian, I just wanted to voice my love for you. Your channel, everything about it, I have watched every single one ever since you began your Minecraft From The Fog series, and I've even watched ones from long before that. Your videos have made me smile in times that I feel I just can't muster up any strength to. You are genuinely my favourite UA-camr and I am looking forward to seeing you play through my favourite game. Thank you, Librarian. ❤
Subnautica has been one of my favorite games- if not my favorite since very early access. It means a lot to me that you are finally touching it!! Good luck on this playthrough
it's kind of funny seeing someone be reluctant to catch fish in this game, mostly because i haven't seen anyone else be like that, but you can actually avoid using fish as food or water, using bleach (which is actually more sustainable and gives more water) and eating kelp+grow edible plants later
I swore a lot when I saw this posted, as I was excited because I was an early free tester of this and never got to play it very far. I'm going to go watch now, just wanted to let you know at 00:01 how excited I was already to see my NJ pals take on it. Everyone else, Thumbs up or else we send Nightbot into your dreams
This made me nostalgic for an old PlayStation game. Was one of the first aquatic exploration/builder of its kind called Aquanauts Holiday. The game was really hard to figure out but once you did it was addictive.

Time to get more scared by this man screaming then the sea creatures hunting him

outside of water you worry about debris, underwater you straight up die
(and yeah i took that fact from another comment under lukael's playthrough if someone knows and notices, but tbf i actually googled why that is)
This would be true if most to all of the ship was underwater which it isnt
wait, when did the ship explode in the video?

i think he only worked on subnautica below zero, not on the first subnautica
also that's why i like the ecosystem in below zero more than in the first subnautica, he did it better
Sneaking right under the Reaper's nose and looting his treasures without a Seamoth is, I gotta say, quite impressive
Oh come on, you spoiled it for me!
At first I was sad that it wasn't more voices of the void and then I was instantly happy again when I saw it was subnautica
VotV comes out every 4 or 5 videos. Perhaps, it will come out on Monday
Could you Gimme some tips om getting into VOTV Librarian series? I haven't been able to
@@rick-deckardu could honestly just start from the lastest season/part he’s done the one before was also pretty good if u want more content

that was genuinly one of the scariest Reaper "introductions" I've ever seen.

Yesssssss!!!!!!
The librarian in a subnautica vid?! This is a dream come true.

Wait i didn't think about that, what if you go to that place to do the thing when doing only rations eaten... Gonna give that a try
Subnautica also supports playing in VR. It's an amazing way to play.
its just hmd view no controls

You do need mods tho to fix the controls

OMG YES! This is my favorite game, by my favorite UA-cam. LETS GO!
Watching you zip around the crash zone on a sea glide makes my muscles tense so much 😆.
I believe the seaglide fragment next to lifepod 3 was their seaglide, and it overloaded 3 meters away from the lifepod, killing them.
[WARNING:Detecting multiple narrations of deep sea extraterrestrial horror in your future, are you certain whatever it is your doing is worth it?]
This is truely historic moment of the Librarian channel! Thank you so much for playing this game. Truely a masterclass in survival and horror games.
