Any suggestions on getting a pre-rigged leader connected to fly line quickly? I'm trying to tie some basic rigs at the house to save some time on the water. Obviously you can't pull the flies through that fly line knot on the loop to loop connection.
I tend to rush setting up my rigs when putting a fresh leader on, and sometimes end up doing it the "wrong" way. While it can be done properly that way as others are stating, it twists up the loop and causes more than a few headaches with thinner lines... the way shown in the video works so much better. Take your time on the water, and do things correctly... the fish aren't going anywhere, and you'll save time in the long run.

The thing that alot of folks are forgetting here is that most of these videos are geared towards the rank beginner. In order for it to be easy, you must simplify things and break down in easy terms. Yes, but the idea is that you would not cut the leader off so it's a non-issue. Once you tie the butt section on there, you would rarely if ever change it. You would just alter mid sections and tippet sections. More coming on this. Stay tuned.

Could you attach braid to fluorocarbon with this loop to loop connection? They say that a double uni is the best for braid to fluorocarbon, however I always struggle with a double uni, a loop to loop would be much simpler
I am very confused and frustrated. I can’t see how your putting the line together. I tried putting the line through leader and then leader through line and it didn’t work at all. I need a video that shows this with big brightly color lined.
My first time fly fishing the guide had it set up this way and between spots drifting we’d pull our line all the way in and this connection between line and leader kept getting stuck in the top eyelet
I have a question for you that I’m really confused about. When you want switch flies you cut the tippet and leader down I assume. So essential you have to carry several leaders and tippets with you at all times??? When Bass fishing when you run out of leader you just cut some more monofilament off the spool tie it to the braid and your good to go. Am I missing something?? If you happen to do it the WRONG way, keep the leader loop loose and pull the loop up the fly line and take another hand and pull tippet side of leader away while holding the leader loop, and then pull both leader and fly line away from each other to seat the square knot.
Thanks for these videos Brian, I've been fishing for a number of years and tend to enjoy fishing mostly for carp and tench these days. I've never tried fly fishing and can't wait to give it a go. I've just attached my leader to my fly line (with the help of this video) and have watched all your Fly Fishing For Beginners videos, so I at least have some clue on what to do! I'm half way through your Carpin video series, and hope to learn more, before I get out on the bank again. Any advice on what flies to use for carp in a lake would be massively appreciated. I'm not sure whether dry or sinking flies would be the best option here. As they are bottom feeders, I'm guessing sinking flies, but you have also mentioned using dry flies too. Just also add (without realising), I purchased a 4x leader with two droppers, so effectively I can fish 3 flies at once. I don't know if this is a good idea. Can I mix things up with dry and sinking flies, or is it best to stick with the same type of fly with this kind of leader?

Ive fount the nail knot seems to work best for transferring energy to the tip of the leader
not even a nail knot loop. just straight up nail knot. Ive been slaying by getting rid of the loops

I cut the loops and use a nail-knot, easy to do with the nail-knot devise.

If you happen to do it the WRONG way, keep the leader loop loose and pull the loop up the fly line and take another hand and pull tippet side of leader away while holding the leader loop, and then pull both leader and fly line away from each other to seat the square knot.

Thanks for these videos Brian, I've been fishing for a number of years and tend to enjoy fishing mostly for carp and tench these days. I've never tried fly fishing and can't wait to give it a go. I've just attached my leader to my fly line (with the help of this video) and have watched all your Fly Fishing For Beginners videos, so I at least have some clue on what to do! I'm half way through your Carpin video series, and hope to learn more, before I get out on the bank again. Any advice on what flies to use for carp in a lake would be massively appreciated. I'm not sure whether dry or sinking flies would be the best option here. As they are bottom feeders, I'm guessing sinking flies, but you have also mentioned using dry flies too. Just also add (without realising), I purchased a 4x leader with two droppers, so effectively I can fish 3 flies at once. I don't know if this is a good idea. Can I mix things up with dry and sinking flies, or is it best to stick with the same type of fly with this kind of leader?
