    I just bought a fly rod yesterday and I watched your video this morning because my fly line didn't have a pre-made loop, so I had to tie this one and I can finally finish my fly rod. Can't wait to practice with it and start go8ng fishing with it. Thank you.

    Talked to you on the phone today from St. Mary's County MD. The Patuxent River has some of the best fishing on the East coat, as you know. Thank you for all your advice on building my own leaders. Going out now to test what we discussed. I'll let you know what happens.

      @@Madriveroutfitters dude it just wasn’t that easy to understand and I’m currently getting a 4.0. Maybe I’m bad at learning-or maybe-just maybe-the video wasn’t that easy to understand. Maybe it was mostly loyal fans giving you a thumbs up. Who’s to know… yeah, you’re right, there’s no valid criticism here, everyone that doesn’t like your video is just a lame hater cause you’re so perfect 🙄

    Thank you for teaching this knot, as well, videos on building your own leaders. Im new to fly fishing and your explanations of building your own leaders helped me comprehend and understand the dynamics and reasoning behind the why and when behind different choices in leaders and tippets. Theres definitely a learning curve to fly fishing and doing it properly, while also being productive, when compared to fishing with a spinning or bait casting rig. Fishing for trout in streams is different from fishing for bass or pan fish on a lake or pond. Again, thank you for clearing the air on that topic.

    Thumbs up 👍🏾 for sure. My first perfection knot vid and UA-cam had your vid at top of list. Algorithm got it right. Couple of questions. I’m brand new to fly fishing and was gifted a 10wt rod and reel spooled with 10wt intermediate sinking line. I fish saltwater and will be learning this set up from the shoreline.
    Will a perfection knot hold up to fish in the 30 lb+ class fish?
    I target striped bass, albacore and bluefish. A 10-20 lb fish is norm and 30+ is possible. Is this the right knot or are there more appropriate loop knots for this saltwater application? Thx u.

    Hi there I’ve just watched every one of the perfection loop videos on you tube, studied them all very closely as I don’t think this is as good a knot as everyone thinks.
    Now I might be wrong and in a way hope I am, but I’ve tied a dozen perfection loops on each end of piece of line with my own loops which I’ve been using for ever on the other end (basically a loop of line with an overhand knot with a twist in the standing line).
    So, I’ve got twelve pieces of line with the perfection loop at one end and my other knot at the other.
    Fingers in each knot and pull (one at once)!
    Every one broke at the perfection loop! Now I’m no genius and I don’t have any laboratory testing facilities, but it seems to me that the PL is not what it’s cracked up to be! Honestly I would love to be proved wrong, so if anyone would like to get back to me I would be most interested. Thank you by the way for the video. Martin from England.

    Thx for the help ..I'd suggest one camera view to eliminate the viewer having to figure out in their head where you are filming from as you switch views.

    If your fly line has no welded loop at the leader end, can you tie a perfection loop with it? My leader has a loop but my fly line doesn't...

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  6 років тому

      No, please never tie any kind of knot within your line.
      Have a look at this video:
      ua-cam.com/video/8QKCXstJw30/v-deo.html
      The method shown there will work great for you.
      Let us know what weight fly line you have and we'll get you an idea of what diameter mono to use for the "loop connector"

      .017" - in Maxima Clear that is 20lb
      Make sure to use Maxima Clear or an equivalent STIFF type mono. Nail knot a 6-8" piece on the tip of the line and tie a perfection loop in that as shown in the video and you'll have a loop connector. All set.
      Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.

    How strong is this knot compaired to other loop knots?

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  4 роки тому

      Not sure on that to be honest. This is the only one we use and never had a problem.

    I tied a perfection loop at the end of my leader's butt section (It didn't come with one), but it seem s to slide to much. Am I tying it too loose? Or alternately should I skip the perfection loop and use a snell/nail knot to attach it directly to my fly line?

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  5 років тому +1

      Porpoise Power It shouldn’t slide if tied right. Your choice there on the “method”. Feel free to call the shop if we can help further.

      Thank-you very much, I've got it now. Pretty embarrassing knot tying skills on my part. I used to always tell myself "can't tie knots? Tie lot's!" Pretty useless trying to fly fish on the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta. Hope I learn from all your videos. Thanks again.
