Those kind are so frustrating and lovable for it! I like being kept on my toes by a critter. LOL What is your cheeky cat's name?

Glad to see Raspy feeling well again. If he doesn't care for brushing have you considered getting a grooming glove? It's just a thick glove with a rubber surfaced palm that gathers the loose fur and the cat thinks he's being petted.
My graybee, Raul-Kitty, isn't a fan of brushing either so I just pet him with the glove. Works fine and cuts down on puked up hairballs. Available on Chewy's website.
Could perhaps get Raspy to think he's just getting extra pets and chin scritches?🐈‍⬛

Oh he LOVES brushing now...which is why I was laughing, because he was playing spite games with me. I have a few different types of brushes on that nightstand, in a pillow with 2 pockets, that holds my journals with the brushes brush side up, in the front pocket and sits so they can brush themselves if they want..plus the brush attached to the window frame! So when I've hugged him and kissed him....he still freaks a little being held snugly, from the PTSD during his stray years...and I call that 'squeezing and slobbering' on him {I figure they must see it like that!} so he then plays hard to get with me. LOL He will then just stand under the lampshade so it looks like he's been at a very good party with some good brownies and I laugh. I think he does it because he knows it makes me laugh and brush him...he's trained me, I think!
Oh..he does NOT like his chin or sides of his mouth touched or even close to them. I know he's been kicked before, and suspect in the mouth or side of head, and tummy, from constipation bouts, plus his flinching when he first got with me. Other people's feet too fast near him and he flipped. Even I could not hug him or touch a brush to him. NOW..he adores his after breakfast, daily 'hair appointment'. LOL Maybe I'll film that if you want. He's funny...and sneaky. It's a game and evenings are more Smudge time. He prefers mornings and she prefers snuggling in evenings, so no rivalry for attention, usually. Whew on that!
I will tell you a secret spot every cat I've ever touched, loves being scritched on....right between the shoulder blades. One place they cannot really reach easily, even to clean. They often relax so much they close their eyes halfway. It's like turning a shark on it's back, to immobilize it. That with sharks is called tonic immobility. It's like a secret spot even for grumpy cats. If they let you get close enough to touch, start lightly barely ruffling the fur, and their attention is gotten. Most adore it as they cannot get it other than rubbing against stuff.
Another spot most but not all cats allow is dead smack top of head between the ears. Use all fingers, like you're massaging, but gently and lightly...like those scalp massage thingies do.

@@TheJudiBambiPurrsParadoxRaul-Kitty is a total sucker for full body pets mixed with chin scritches.
Also he will sometimes, if in the right mood, rollover and ask for belly rubs; but I learned not to belly rub unless invited to do so.
Years ago I had a fluffy black girl kitty, Velvet, who loved face brushing. When I tried to brush her she would grab my hand and the brush with both front paws, claws deployed, and rub her face and cheeks on the the brush. This would go on for a long time as if she was trying to scent mark the brush permanently. She didn't like brushing anywhere else though. Velvet was the first cat I used the grooming glove on.
I've come to believe once a cat has bonded with you they will tell you their secrets so you can serve them better.😼🐈‍⬛

@@S.B.inNOLA-qd5ii5zu2j ahh so cute. Raspy has overcome SO much fear with me, from his PTSD. I couldn't even just encircle him with my arms in an air hug...panicked him without even touching his fur when encircling him. Not kidding....11 years ago he trusted no one unless I looked at him in the eyes and told him directly "Raspy, this is ____ and they are okay with me, okay? You don't have to worry when they are in our home...they are a friend, not a foe. They won't hurt any of us, ever." Only when I had our 'talk', would he relax. Until then, he'd sit at the threshold of the room we were in, staring at the new visitor, accessing them. Seriously...he's the protector of the home he finally found with me.
Smudge does that with things, too...rabbit kicking is her forte...like Velvet.
