I’m about to launch a Crowdfunding campaign to enter a really competitive market and I have been thinking of leaning into the audacity of “just coming out of the blocks hard”, getting people psyched on being pat’s of the 1st percent of something huge. I am specializing like a consulting engineer, focus on adding value in 2-3 types of activities, with a great team of professionals in their fields. When we will grow and stabilize to a certain level, adding more value proposals to new clients and contracting more employees/partners I think is the rational path for prosperity.

When I focused on one service we built our 500 staff agency from this... it is a trap to try and sell everything when starting in business. Jack of all trades master on none - comes to mind. This video is geared for businesses. For most employees it may make more sense to specialize. Most entrepreneurs usually have to wear many hats. I've been both but I remember when I was an employee I was never one to say that it's not my department. My mentor and former boss, a very wealthy man, allowed me to work in all departments and that was set me off to starting my own business. Too many employees, especially Engineers, are notorious for saying things such as "that's not my department". Perhaps Pat can make a video from moving from a specialized employee to entrepreneur.

Specializing
