Imagine a dwarf woman opening her front door to find a soldier with a folded flag in his hands. She knows what this means, her husband has fallen in the line of duty. The soldier looks into the newly made widow's teary eyes. Nothing he can say will comfort her, but she deserves to know what happened. "Big squid," The soldier said solemnly.
I love how the monsters are actually smart enough to surrender. Besides adding to the fantasy feel, it also honestly adds some realism, since smart animals irl will surrender too.
why is everyone saying this game is good? it's actual trash compared to AoW2. no special racial units, every race literally feels the exact same. AoW2 had 15 races with completely different units. The ingame music is uninspired dog shit compared to AoW2, too. Also, why do the buildings/towns look exactly the same for every nation? that's so fucking lazy, in AoW2 every nation had their own, thematic art for buildings... AoW4 is just extremely lackluster in so many aspects compared to its ancestor AoW2
Gnaw Hardwood is now Rimmy’s Vtuber persona. He’s actually the king of a nation but got isekai’d to another world so no one believes him. Trapped in another world without a means to return he remembers Twig Leafman’s story of falling, and he leaps from a plane in an attempt to go to another world, but instead gets hospital bills. Now he’s stuck in debt and is hoping to use his charms to beg for money off the internet while searching for Twig Leafman or other Isekai characters.
Fun fact: that slow-rolling you mentioned is actually something the AI would also do all the way back in the very first Age of Wonders game. If you sat with a defensive line, unless they believed they could overwhelm you they would tentatively advance hoping you'd break formation first.

While not impossible it'd be fairly rare to see a Hutt in the senate representing a planet, since the Hutt government (The Hutt Cartel) isn't part of the galactic republic. Though on that note, the Republic did have a Supreme Chancellor called "Blotus" who was a hutt, so there's probably a few ways the twilek/hutt senator scenario can happen :p
When I got an achievement called 'manufactured war' for starting a moderately justified war with fabricated grievances, I fell in love with the diplomacy system. One of the few 4x diplomacy systems that feel good to use for me, and there's so many instances where it mirrors real-world diplomacy in subtle ways.
