What's Camping On The Beach REALLY Like?

- We went camping on the beach in California to see what it was like and discovered that it’s one of those things people either love or hate. The Oceano Dunes SVRA is the only beach in California that allows people to drive their vehicles on the beach. It also happens to be the only beach that allows RV’s to camp on the beach as well.

Glad you are enjoying your winter south. Can’t wait to get our motor home out of storage. Making all our Provincial park reservations helps us get through winter.
Today is the first day of spring! You'll be out camping before you know it!
Good that you dipped in the frigid water, embrace the moment!
Apparently there are benefits to cold water therapy.
Love that view but, oh the sand, is just all over the place. Grrrr.... Creative solutions for under the trailer! Love the outtakes 😆 - Michelle & Brian
We're still finding sand 2 weeks later 😅 despite a deep clean.
Definitely wanna do this once or twice once i get my van, but looks like its more trouble than it's worth beyond that. Sand all over the place and the tide risks that can completely total your rig
There are definitely a lot of considerations for taking an RV on the beach. Some beaches are easier than others, but it's definitely a love it or hate it kind of thing.
Wow, quite the new sand dune you guys have! The view makes up for it though.
It was so interesting to see the sand piling up around us.
I grew up on the ocean, Miss the beaches. Do not miss the sand in my drinks though 😂😂
Good job Mel - the only dip I remember you making was in the hot springs!
I'm a total wuss when it comes to cold water! So much so that I used to wear a 4mm wet suit in the Caribbean!
Wow! I’m a wuss in the cold too, but I think I could handle the Caribbean!
We're just getting caught up on watching videos and realized that your trip is just a few weeks behind us. 🤔😁. We didn't park on the beach at Pismo but we camped on the beach at Padre Island. It's pretty cool. Also loved Joshua Tree. Lots at familiar places in your videos.
Oh wow! Too bad our paths never crossed. Maybe next year, eh? Camping on the beach at Padre is definitely on our list to do one day. We've visited before, but never camped there.
Did you get a chance to eat the strawberries in Pismo? They were huge and incredibly sweet. It would be fun to connect. We spent a couple of weeks in Van Isle and came back home to Manitoba this week. 110 days on the road. Great fun.
..cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Thanks for taking time to watch our video and to comment. We love sharing our experiences with others 😃
@@HomeARoam Thank you very mutch... have a nice Start of the week.... see you….
Great video on beach camping!! General question: I notice you have a cat traveling with you. Do you let it out of your RV? I too have a cat but sure what to do with her if I take a longer trip. Any advise would be appreciated.
Hi James, great question. We generally offer Benny to come out wherever we are camped. Sometimes he wants to explore and sometimes he doesn't. We try not to force it on him so that he doesn't associate going outside as something bad. He is always on a harness and leash outside, unless he is inside his playpen in which case he just wears the harness.
It took a little while to train him to accept his harness and leash and walk normally when it's on, too, but he got used to it. We reward him with treats when he comes out so that he associates it with something positive.
There is a lot of really good info on a website called Adventure Cats, too if you're interested in learning more.
@@HomeARoam Thank you for this information. P.S. I binge watched your videos last night! I noticed Bennie was in other videos as well. Your video on Napa Valley was so cool!
Ok so after cleaning up all that sand out of the trailer and having to wash the truck ad camper, was it still worth it? Lol.
Yes, yes it was. We only wish it was warmer out when we were there 🙂
hahaha so cute
We've learned so much since this video, like now we have a proper wind blocker and it's awesome!
hi! do you need a pass to camp there? or you just pay and can stay there overnight?
No special pass was required when we were there, except to make a reservation online ahead of time.
As a 25 year plus saltwater boater, owning in water kept boats made of materials that are intended to stand up to salt, anyone who takes their RV onto an ocean beach is out of their minds. The last place a RV or it's TV should be is exposed to that salt air & sand.
The $10PN access fee is nothing compared to the damage that has been done & the additional depreciation on the vehicle because of the damage. The rust is like cancer. It is in unseen places & it is not going to stop or go away.
Fine if you can afford it but you would be better off away from the beach
Hi Doug,
It's true that salt eats everything! We lived in the Caribbean for several years and the ocean breeze coming through our apartment even rusted some of our USB cables over time.
That said, a week or two at the beach isn't going to destroy your rig. There are lots of RV parks in Florida that are right on the ocean and I think as long as you rinse things off periodically you're going to be alright.
Sure, it will accelerate corrosion, but you also have to consider the beauty and experience of camping so close to the ocean.
CAMPS ON THE BEACH.. THEN COMPLAINS ABOUT THE SAND WTF 😅MOVE 😂
Hahah, yeah we still love camping on the beach despite our complaining about the sand and the wind!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣peeesmo beach
Have we pronounced it wrong? We tend to pronounce 'i''s a bit differently.
@@HomeARoam no biggie, plz- like fizz
oh that is very different 😅 Thanks for the correction!
@@HomeARoam sorry, it's because of nuns and my mom constantly correcting me, I cannot simply let it go, you'd think I'd grow out of it at my age. Kind of like when people say "revert back" instead of "revert" or "where is it at?" instead of "where is it?" It's difficult having an English professor for a parent. My brother lives in peeezmo btw. We call it that now, you have started a trend.🤣
Just pay ten dollars by weekends start from Friday at noon on Sunday is very cheap from others places where pay over 45 dollars per night so pismo beach is cold but very cheap I love this place 😬😁
Yes, some of the private campgrounds in the area are double and triple the cost of camping on the beach or in the state park.
