I didn't think I needed another 8-9mil throw polisher but hands down one great tool! Has more power and more cutting ability then my old small throw polisher. Hats off to griots and the team! Machines are good and the products are unreal! 💪
Great demonstration, Sam! I appreciate your in-depth knowledge of when, why, and how to select different pads. I reliably achieve amazing results with Griot's Garage three-step system. Personally, I prefer using a ceramic sealant because of its increased longevity. Thank you for supplying such amazing products and training materials. 3:54
Wow!!! I have always loved Griot’s and recently upgraded to the G9 as well. How did you avoid electrocution in the water incident? I’ve always wondered about using electric polishers to do boats.
Every Google search I do it says to polish between 1200 - 1800rpm, but the g9 slowest speed is 2000rpm. 3m says to polish around 1200rpm with the machine polish.. what gives?
I just bought a G9 and can't wait to use it on my vehicles. Should I do one panel at a time completely (all three steps), or do the whole vehicle step by step?
So after completing those 3 steps, would that be the time to put on a graphene polish? Or, is it even worth doing that? Also, did you clay that panel prior to your treatment, or is clay even necessary if your doing all 3 steps? Thanks for your time and help. I greatly appreciate it.
If you're going to polish, paint cleaning clay is always necessary! the process when applying a new wax or polish then wax is always going to be the same. Wash, Clay bar, polish (if needed) then wax. As for the three-step process with polish, that will depend on the condition of your paint. If its light to moderate, you might only need correcting cream and the orange foam correcting pad. However, if its severe defects, or you were wet sanding and you need to get the sanding scratches out and refine the shine then you might need that three-step process before applying your wax of choice
If u were gonna apply a 5yr ceramic coating, not a spray temp one, is step 3 necessary? Waxing would just get wiped off with final IPA wipe down before application
Could I do the similar with the BOSS fast correcting cream(with white foam pad) then BOSS finishing sealant(with black foam pad) or is it best to use the microfiber pad to start?
Noob question here: When i use these 3 steps do I do one step on my entire vehicle, then the second step on my entire vehicle, followed by the third step? Or should I do all 3 steps in each panel/section at a time? Also, do i need to wash the pads in between each panel? I’m gonna be tackling my severely neglected 08 Gray Chevy Silverado Crew Cab
If you're doing the whole vehicle we typically complete each step before moving on to the next step. We recommend swapping out your pads a few times during the process, however it is not necessary to wash after each panel, you can wait to wash all the pads until the end of the detail. Before swapping out for a new pad, you can either user compressed air or a tool like our pad condition brush to clean up the pad.
Depends on your backing plate for size, thickness, aggressiveness and other factors. We have video here that goes into all details you'd need to know. ua-cam.com/video/Jxvy5FCF6wM/v-deo.htmlsi=6wgvnAvtgonCVp9w
I used the complete compound with the Orange pads on my black car and it turned out great.. Is there an advantage to using the micro fiber pad with the Complete Compound?
Using a Microfiber Finishing Pad will speed up the correcting (defect removal) ability of Complete Compound. It is best to try a small area first to check your results.
If there's an opportunity, it's best to try it out in person. The G9 is covered by our 180-day worry free guarantee as well as our Lifetime warranty against manufacture defects. griotsgarage.com/category/customer+service/customers+for+life+-+100-+guarantee.do
Today I used my G9 for a second time and it started to sound different. And sometimes it started to go on the fastest speed eventhow I dialed to a lower speed it keeped going to the faster speed. I think something got broken with my tool. Very disappointed. I don’t know If it can be replaced at this time. But even if I can get it replaced I have to pay for shipping and hadeling to Venezuela and it is about $40 extra dollar each way. I am trying to start my detailing business with a low bugget so this issue is a big deal.
Hi Tico, we're so sorry you're having some issues with your G9! Unfortunately we cannot warranty machines outside of the US as we do not currently sell internationally. That being said, if you bought from a US supplier the warranty could be handled through them.
Nobody anywhere talks about the SPLATTER that goes everywhere. How-to avoid it. What is going on. So much extra work, let alone all over the black vinyl.
My G9 has only been used four times now and the pads won’t hardly stay on. They just keep falling off and the highest speed setting isn’t as high of rpm as it was when I first got it. Definitely not running like it did at first.
@@johnblack8187 from what I hear from other detailers, they’ll ship you a new one no questions asked. Their customer service is awesome. The G9 makes polishing so fun and cathartic. Hope you’ll be back at it to polishing my friend!
Hi August, without seeing the scratches it is tough to say for sure but the G9 is capable of removing severe scratches with the right pad and product. As a general rule of thumb, if you finger nail catches on a scratch it's deeper than can be polished out and will typically require body work.
Griot’s Garage, after the polish process, do you suggest applying/wiping an IPA to the paint before the final wax? And after the wax, what do you recommend applying to the paint? Ceramic wax?
Hey Luke, you absolutely can use an IPA wipe on the paint however it is not entirely necessary. We often give it a quick wipe down with speed shine. And after the wax, depending on what wax you've used we have a few quick detailers that work well for those quick clean ups between washes. If you're going to use Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax, we'd suggest two coats of it on it's own.
Question : once you use the pads on a vehicle once are they able to be washed and used again or one and done? Question 2: I noticed you didn’t Clay the paint before starting is that a necessary step in the prepping process Last question: Does it matter whether you polish your car in direct sunlight or preferably in a garage or shaded area.
Great questions, Carlos! 1. Our pads are designed to be washed and re-used multiple times. We suggest adding in our Microfiber & Foam Pad Cleaner in with your choice of laundry detergent when washing them. This video covers step by step how we suggest caring for your pads to make sure they last: ua-cam.com/video/a6D_Bj2cPYQ/v-deo.html 2. This video picks up where you would start following decontaminating the vehicle. We always recommend using a clay bar or chemical to decontaminate the surface prior to polishing. 3. We recommend polishing in a garage or shaded area when possible, but recognize that is not always an option. That being said, you can certainly polish in direct sunlight just be mindful to wipe off the polish reside quickly and work in smaller areas to be able to polish and wipe in a short time period. In extreme heat you may notice that it takes a bit more elbow grease to wipe the polish away than normal.
