I remember playing this song in my freshman high school band year was so fun hope to play it again in the future. I'm a senior now and head section leader so I can't wait for this year its gonna be something special
I play a concert band giant baritone surrounded by 5 or 6 susophones and when i cant play i perfectly make each note sound with my mouth and today at the game i said holiday and they stopped each time for me to say it warmed my heart to know the whole band cares even though i look off a susophone for most fingerings btw im in marching band like this
I was just listening to the original and I thought “dang, this would sound AMAZING in band” and then I realized it’s a stand tune for most people. Maybe I’ll get to play it next year for my first year of marching band
aww. I've listened to Green Day for years and I'm a big fan! I've played this song by ear on my guitar, and I have to say that the parts are out of place, and some were skipped. Also, MORE PERFECT FITHS/POWER CHORDS
I played this for the first time on first part this year for Pep Band and it’s so fun! So glad I got to play first part for this song my Senior year. Definitely one of my all time favorite Pep Band songs we do!
At practice today, half the band gathered around in a big huddled mass and began playing this out of nowhere. When someone begins playing and multiple people join them, it is an amazing thing. (Especially when the BD is nowhere to be found!)
This is the best piece of music my pep band has ever had in my opinion. I have 3rd trumpet but it's badass. Shout out to all my trumpet comrades out there
TreX llama Our Marching band is doing this song pre-game,Half time All the small things,Are you going to be my Girl, Stacy Mom. Then for prep tunes two new ones we are adding is Living on the Prayer, rock all nite long.
I also played clarinet and remember coming in freshman year with this being my school’s thing. We played this multiple times a game, every game. This was the only sheet music given out at the first day because forget the Star-Spangled Banner, this was what you need to know. The most fun song to play, especially at homecoming when the whole school was there in a college stadium shouting Hey at measure 34. Tons of fun.
As a trombone yhe first couple times we played this I would always see high nits and get terrified and overshoot, so instead of " D D Bb Bb F F C C" it sounded like "F F D D G G E E"
Can confirm. When you hit it on lead trumpet, its a huge adrenaline pump! And when its in tune its like god cried and it was the trumpets job to help him get better
my old school band did this (i've changed schools) and we only played it in our literal one marching song. (we only marched once). it was so awesome, except my band wasn't very enthusiastic and fun so it was boring on that behalf, but otherwise it was such an amazing song to play. we didn't play it anymore after that marching thing even though literally the entire band was suggesting we play it. my band director kept on screaming "NO MORE HOLIDAY" in our faces lol
Mr.Challengor well that's good to hear. I regret to say that only me and one other person in the band can even reach a double G. Gotta take all the solos n shit. Gets hella tiring
Man listening to stuff like this makes me miss college marching band. We did a lot of more simple/fun shows like movie themes, funk, cartoon themes etc
I play this all the time in marching band and this is one of my favorite songs in our pep band book. Horns hit harder than my belt when they are above parallel
I Love This Song!!!!!!!!!!!! It Blends To My Voice!!!!!!!! This Is The Song That Me And My Entire Destrehan High School Band Play At The Halftime Performance On The Field Whenever We Are At The Football Games And Sometimes We Play In The Stands Whenever We Are At The Football Games Whenever Were Watchin The Game In Action!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So This Is The Best Song I Have Ever Heard In My Entire Life!!!!!!!!! Thanks For Uploadin This Song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Means A Lot!!!!!!!!
I'm the sole baritone player for the University of Idaho basketball band, this is so much fun to play, you just get caught up in the passion of the song. Also glissando on Baritone sounds really cool but is a good kind of hellish to play. I've played this with nearly a thousand college and high schoolers on the field during football season, and it is truly epic. So many pep songs have so much more heart in them than the song they're based off of.
Baritone player here. We have at least 40 long pep band tunes, and this might just be the best one we have. Better than Free Bird, I'm Shipping Up To Boston, and so many more. Pep band starts in 4 days and I'm so ready.
We have literally one trumpet in our band (who literally just started playing this year, so they have basically no range), so the director had to give the 1st Alto Saxes the high note. Let me tell you, every time we hit that part of the piece, it's heart pounding. Playing a high E is, for some reason, absolutely exhilarating. Shoutouts to our director for this.
We are playing this tomorrow (10/1/21) for homecoming wish me luck I play snare and because we do not have enough drums I have to play on a trashcan with The rest of the J- high percussion
This is my school’s specialty. We specifically play it after the other team does and we’ve gotten more than one chants of our band’s better. Good times.
RIP trumpets
HeartlessChild RIP our lips
lmao i don't play trumpet. I just hear how high it is and I just think of how much of the struggle
HeartlessChild I do it is not that hard but some songs you don't want to play it too much
The double E is hard to hit at 1:23
I have TPT 1 on this; it's actually quite simplistic. The E is simple. I'm only a freshman but I can nail that glissando.
I promise you, as a trumpet player, this song is great at testing your range, and a hella lot of fun to play
Hello fellow trumpet player
Can confirm
Let's go trumpets
as I am a trumpet player also, I can agree with this 😋
Bro so true it really tests my range and I have so much fun playing it
This is so fun to play on my high school drumline. Also thanks for this, it's great for practicing.
What instrument do u play in drumline?
Mostly snare (including this song), occasionally cymbals
I remember playing this song in my freshman high school band year was so fun hope to play it again in the future. I'm a senior now and head section leader so I can't wait for this year its gonna be something special
Anthony Hernandez ahhh that's so cool :)
Siliths King Of Hell How'd it go!
As a trombone, blasting the main melody at measure 1 and 26 is so fun
I'm in the Allen high school marching band with over 800 others and the trombone section is so messed up lol they get so crazy so quick
Are you in marching band rn? Cuz if so you're probably gonna be playing it if you haven't already
Rip my ears, I've listened to this hundreds of times, but the one time I listen to it with headphones, I forget to turn it down a notch
Great song
I want to play this on my trombone
I don’t know this one as a trom😊player I respect it respectfully
If I heard a school band playing this I’d go absolutely fking crazy god I love green day!

aww. I've listened to Green Day for years and I'm a big fan! I've played this song by ear on my guitar, and I have to say that the parts are out of place, and some were skipped. Also, MORE PERFECT FITHS/POWER CHORDS
Most underplayed pep band song right here
Yes
True dat
Indeed
Sitting in the middle of the band section with 800 people playing around us is the most amazing feeling ever
I KNOW
800?????? Where do you go to school? 😂 I have 30 people in my band.
Fellaswhomst bruh we only have 250
800 u lying right... my school has 97 members
Skyy Lind Keller Central same exact number of members almost.
First trumpet on this is the greatest part of pep band by far.
I played this for the first time on first part this year for Pep Band and it’s so fun! So glad I got to play first part for this song my Senior year. Definitely one of my all time favorite Pep Band songs we do!
I strongly disagree, first trombone is much better on this song
The best part is taking that last rip to an A up an octave
That A kicks my ass 😂
I learned frist trumpet in my freshman year it's by far the best
At practice today, half the band gathered around in a big huddled mass and began playing this out of nowhere. When someone begins playing and multiple people join them, it is an amazing thing. (Especially when the BD is nowhere to be found!)
My band does stuff like that all the time.
My band tho
I gotta get the Allen high school band to do that, I'm in that band and getting all 800 members to join in like that would be sick
The saxophones love doing that in my band 😅
My BD lets us do this, he just watches as we do it.
My band is doing this, it's fun as heck lol
Ikr??
Especially with me being a trombone
Yeah Even All of My Pride of Destrehan Band Is Doin This At The Football Games Right Now As Well!!!!!!!! And It's The Best Song Ever!!!!!!!!!!
@@balecbird7641 same
Me too and I’m a trumpet
This is the best piece of music my pep band has ever had in my opinion. I have 3rd trumpet but it's badass. Shout out to all my trumpet comrades out there
amen
I play flute but a lot of my friends play trumpet
Yes
Yo
1st trumpet here. Feels great to nail the high E in measure 47
1:24 god rest in peace my lips
My lips are right there with you
My marching band plays this at the end of every football game we win. It's our victory song and it always gets stuck in my head
Lmao one time our band played taps at the losing team. Our bd was pissed.
our victory song was all i do is win last year, but we're not even practicing it this year because we never win :')
Yo same just played it tonight
We play it every game beginning and end even tho we are 0 and whatever. Our football team is trash-
@@asunayuuki6301omg me though??? 😂
Horn part is good on this one. Lots of stuff nobody else has
yeah lol I thought I would be the only French Horn player here.
Other French Horn player here - the horn part in Holiday is indeed amazing!
Im a horn player as well and when I started playing out (as I am the only one in my band) my body started shaking
I have finally found my section in the comments of a marching piece. :)
It sucks tho when you are having a MB comp and you get the least amount of breath
this is fucking awesome
Measure 30 is at 0:56
Edit: Shoutout to all of the tenor saxes/bass clarinets/bari saxes
Liv T I’m a tenor who addictively plays this song, I hate that part with a passion
Starbuckks bass clarinetist here... not a big fan either😂!
Liv T woodwinds are trash
You can take a guess at what I play
Javinho no one asked you so stfu
I wish my band does this song this fall! This is my favorite Green Day!
Jones Music it's pretty great! My band did it last year! 😁😁
Raquel Flores if anything I'd be playing second trumpet because I'm in the second band, but I'm great full I'm at least playing it.
my band is this year
TreX llama Our Marching band is doing this song pre-game,Half time All the small things,Are you going to be my Girl, Stacy Mom. Then for prep tunes two new ones we are adding is Living on the Prayer, rock all nite long.
Dustin Straw Nice, I wish I could be that lucky, lol. Good Luck on the field
This will never leave my memory :') played this for 4 years straight in highschool in my clarinet. We put so much emotion into this song
Tons of fun.
really wish more bands around did this song every other school ive been at wouldn't let us
at BOYD high school it's one of the pep rally songs we play. Sometimes even at games.
at wadsworth it is a stand tune
Little Miami High School does this song all the time! It's super fun!
I play this for marching band we sound amazing
At QCHS it’s a stand tune
That high CONCERT D. E for Bb instruments. is awesome.
I agree
source: am a trumpet
yeah i play trumpet 1 and gosh when you hit that it feels great even thoug afterwards i typically forgot to go back down to a🙃
As a trombone yhe first couple times we played this I would always see high nits and get terrified and overshoot, so instead of " D D Bb Bb F F C C"
it sounded like "F F D D G G E E"
Can confirm. When you hit it on lead trumpet, its a huge adrenaline pump! And when its in tune its like god cried and it was the trumpets job to help him get better
Is it a c d or an e
starts at 0:11
Not a hero asked for but a hero we deserve
@@ack1018 Can't agree with you more
Our band plays this at 1.25 speed, maybe just a tiny bit slower but about that fast and its fun
my old school band did this (i've changed schools) and we only played it in our literal one marching song. (we only marched once). it was so awesome, except my band wasn't very enthusiastic and fun so it was boring on that behalf, but otherwise it was such an amazing song to play. we didn't play it anymore after that marching thing even though literally the entire band was suggesting we play it. my band director kept on screaming "NO MORE HOLIDAY" in our faces lol
last year we closed with this and god DAMN did the crowd pop off when we ended
my band gets super excited when we play this
as they should
I see why😅
It's adorable how quiet they expect saxes to be, honestly, us alto's are up there with the trumpets for being the loudest.
It’s the way of the saxophone 🤌
Saxophone supremacy!!
*NORTH DAKOTA STATE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION*
RIP snare drum sticks
The alto saxaphone part is good. My band went thro once and we had a blast.
just got this stand tune last week, god it feels good to be 1st trumpet and hit the E ;)
why the winky face?
cause the E is a fabled note in my band, i can hit it consistently now though
Mr.Challengor well that's good to hear. I regret to say that only me and one other person in the band can even reach a double G. Gotta take all the solos n shit. Gets hella tiring
oh yeah i can play a double G now, it does get tiring being the only one, but i love it
Mr.Challengor yeah it's fun. It expands your possibilities for improv a lot!
This is so much fun as a trumpet 1, but it wrecks my lips
Man listening to stuff like this makes me miss college marching band. We did a lot of more simple/fun shows like movie themes, funk, cartoon themes etc
I heard a pep band do this at the Reese's All-Star Game in US Bank Stadium last Friday.
I play this all the time in marching band and this is one of my favorite songs in our pep band book. Horns hit harder than my belt when they are above parallel
Really hope my band does this!

not me going through all my old pep band songs. Come so far, yet I miss the energy so much :')
I love the second trumpet part in this song
What energy from the first trumpets!!!!
I would love to play this in pep band. It would be a great piece and is for the Trombone section
0:56
As a pit percussionist, I can guarantee that the most satisfying thing in the world is destroying the whole cymbal at the “Hey!”
You play stand tunes?! At my school we don’t play stand tunes 😐
agreed
Yes
I just got this for my show tune in marching band this year and I love it so much
We are currently playing this for my band and it's the best thing ever! Love the Trumpet life!
filthy trumpet player
@@hamsteronacomputer6692 How dare thy! What instrument do you play that you think is superior to the mighty trumpet?
Sounds just like a trumpet player
I bet you don't put away your stand after practice
@@hamsteronacomputer6692 I do too! And stop ignoring my question. I think you're just jealous. If not, leave me alone. 😜
I play percussion...maybe a bit jealous lol
Lead guitar- Capo 3rd Fret consisting of Em, C, G, D, and Bm
Played this my freshman year (2006)
Nothing says lets get pumped for football like a bunch of British "people" complaining about society
Not enough trombone (
Can someone show the full difference of how a trombone sounds to a baritone
Fuck you
I play tenors and let me just say this is super fun and dope to play😂😁😁
Even being a clarinet player this is one of my absolute favorite songs to play it’s sooooo fun
Canucks, #BringBackHoliday it's a song that's too good to ditch
as a trumpet player, my lips are dying listening to this

I’m 13 and know some people so I get to play alto sax in the band whenever I want and this is one of my favorite tunes to play. Go vandals!
Baritone player here. We have at least 40 long pep band tunes, and this might just be the best one we have. Better than Free Bird, I'm Shipping Up To Boston, and so many more. Pep band starts in 4 days and I'm so ready.
0:23 is best part for trombone
Imagine the band plays this and all the students start singing
Playing second trumpet for this song is literally the funnest part

This gets stuck in my head so often haha. Trombones rise up!
This is the third song in my feild show this year...i hope my band can get it to sound this amazing
It's great when you add john cena at 1:30 (Bb A F G)
#Trombone
When the trumpets don't show up at last comp
Can we all agree band kids are the best minority and jsut the nicest people ever
In my band class it sounds different but it’s really fun
My favorite BONES part is at 0:35 those whole notes make me cry it sounds soooo good!!! ❤❤❤❤
Idk about any of you but this song is hell playing it on trombone. Still a catchy tune tho.
So flippin' cool!!!! We might do this and a couple other rock songs for our marching band show this year!
My highschool band only has 20 people and I play clarinet for this song; it is one of the most challenging but fun songs I have ever played 🤩
I think this would have more character if the woodwinds could play out a little more because a lot of them have the melody
as a tuba player, i am out of breath just listening to this
i would always turn it up on the sidelines
the cheer dance to this one is my favorite. I love the tune to it and the dance is super fun
I am in a marching band (The SCHS)!!!
All mellophones out there this kills my face.
Now imagine being a bass player without music
I didn't even get my own instruments part for this song...
I play oboe and I got the Mallets (Xylo, Vibes, Marimba) part.
Why tf is th trombone part always so fcking high
They love to torture us
I was a baritone and complaining (freshmen) about how high the d was and the trombones go "oh really?"
Holy. Shit.
1st Trombone scares me for this song.
We did this for our homecoming game in 2017
We are playing this tomorrow (10/1/21) for homecoming wish me luck I play snare and because we do not have enough drums I have to play on a trashcan with The rest of the J- high percussion
Our band plays this every year for Pep Band! Such a great song. We're always begging our Band Director to play it when Pep Band comes around 😂
Put it at x1.25 and that’s how fast I feel like we actually play this
Yeah
I can’t listen to this without hearing EMC 10 types of high school drum features
The tuba register is pretty high
Best song
Good 4 U band arrangement is really good as well but yeah I totally agree
We play this as a stand tunes
This is my school’s specialty. We specifically play it after the other team does and we’ve gotten more than one chants of our band’s better. Good times.
We play this for pep band and it is so fun to play
Same bro I LOVED IT!
having the tenor march while playing low B's is DIABOLICAL
There’s a guy I know called nick who could never hit the E but everyone thought it was I him and not me just because he’s first chair :(
