Albert came to Indianapolis to do a guitar clinic at my friend's store. He drove into Indy thinking he'd find a hotel room, no problem, unaware that the weekend he came was the weekend of the Indy 500 motor race and the nearest hotel with a vacancy was in Chicago. My friend spoke to the band during a break and asked if his friend could sit in, "Well... can he play?" "Yeah, he's OK." Needless to say, minds were blown.

It’s amazing how in these videos, the guitars bring out so many historical anecdotes by those who were there at the time. It’s great that these stories are now being recorded.
I met Albert several times he signed my Ernie ball music man Albert Lee guitar, such a lovely guy. in his earlier days he could wipe the floor with any shredder on the planet. Albert always played clean not hiding behind distortion and played blisteringly fast melodic and clean. Something shredders fear.
Never really been into shredding or anything. What I have noticed is that riffs one can come up with having to do with a lot of notes is really wonderful. Its another dynamic in exploring the guitar. I feel the most powerful effects in music for myself have to do with simple chord changes and fewer notes, almost as if simplicity is the answer to creating something. I think Mr. Lee has a different style entirely and a different approach to music that maybe shredders wouldn't be used to. Its like a rhythm going against another rhythm where it doesn't quite fit, so I think this would make competitive musicians naturally uncomfortable. Some are talented enough to figure it out though. The most important thing to think about regardless is _music_.
There's a cool video on UA-cam featuring Albert, Danny Gatton and Vince Gill playing at the American Music Shop back in 1993. Some fine pickin' as you might imagine.
I always think that a clean guitar highlights the proficiency of the guitar player above everything...that's why I like the acoustic more than the electric.
Somewhere out there in UA-cam land there is a video called "Born Fighter". It's all about Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds in the studio recording tracks for various solo and band (Rockpile) projects. Near the end of the film, Albert Lee comes in to the session to play on "Sweet Little Lisa" for Dave's album "Repeat When Necessary". Albert plays his solo and outro' on his Telecaster with the B-bender and they play the tape back. Dave Edmunds - no slouch on the six-string himself, is just floored by Albert's playing! Albert - ever the gentleman and modest to a fault, comes back into the lounge area with this kind of "Was that O.K.?" air about him, sits down and opens a beer. Albert Lee is phenomenal! I am pleased to say that I have been so fortunate to be in the same room as him quite a few times. Check Albert's performance of "Highwayman" on Anderton's Guitars (U.K.) YT channel. Just Albert singing and playing piano. Minted. Thank you Albert, and Norman for this video. All of you and yours stay safe and well.

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing video treasure!!!
I almost skipped this video because I saw the thumbnail and thought the guitar was ugly. I’m so glad I watched it, such great stories
Albert’s smile is priceless. Thanks for bringing back a lot of great memories for Albert and the Norman’s Rare Guitar Gang.
Watching this is the best way to start a Monday morning - Norm and Albert just drifting along peacefully with relaxed chat and sublime playing, wish the clip was ten times longer!
One of the highlights of the channel! Pure history right there.
I saw Albert Lee Joensuu, Finland 95-96? Talked with him even played his guitar he was real Gent. I was 5 feet away when he played gig. Last song blowed everyones mind!!
What a treat! That was so good. So soulful. The real deal thank you
One word , legendary.
During your Dream duet I closed my eyes for a moment and swore I was hearing Don Everly, not Albert, sing lead/low harmony. Beautifully done, gentlemen.
How amazing was that!.. a true living icon of the music industry..the best video from NRG so far for 2021 by a country mile!🇦🇺
Well that singing brought me to tears! A world lost
Nice harmony on "All I Have to do is Dream", Albert and Norm! My wife and I were fortunate enough to see the Everly Brothers with Albert Lee in the 80s in Colorado at the state fair. I was also fortunate to own three Everly and J180 guitars in the days when I played a lot of acoustic gigs. Those and J200s are my favorite acoustic guitars! Thanks for this video!
He makes that guitar sound beautiful. I can hear the Everly Brothers now.
This was a heartwarming interview and performance by Albert and Norm! Norm you do an excellent harmony!
Much respect to Albert Lee and keep up the great videos, Norm, and keep singing!
When out in the lead or part of the band, it's always SPECIAL to listen to Albert. You have to love and respect him, and I do. Thank you Albert Lee and Norman!!!
What an awesome old guitar
Such a wonderful player, and a very nice guy. I had the pleasure of meeting Albert (and Bill, and Eddie Floyd) when Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings played in the theater across the street from my house. Great memories. Thanks for sharing this video, I enjoyed it
What a lovely voice Albert has, especially at his age. I had no idea he sang.
Albert had a solo album called 'Hiding' that was absolutely great. And his playing with EmmyLou is legendary. What a singer, too!
I have to second that, Hiding is an incredible album
Hiding is my favourite Albert Lee album , every track is perfection.
Man, I am glad you squeezed Norm. That was great. I couldn’t help but sing along.
Semper Fi
A couple years ago I had the pleasure oj Jamming with a friend of Alberts in Yuma Az. Carmine Sardo said Albert is one of the nicest people in the world and we all know what a great guitar player he is. Rock on Albert. Burlington Bill here of the songs 66 Mustang and Sailing to Freedom!
Lump in my throat and a tear in my eye wonderful stuff Albert.
One of those tunes sounded like Neil young harvest moon. That was beyond words a beautiful moment. Thanks Al. I’m going home. And Norm
Loved this so much. I loved the Everly Brothers. I had posters on my wall. So nice of you to share this history.
I've met Albert a couple of times and a you would expect he's so humble and down to earth.
Albert has always been my favorite guitarist. Norm did an awesome job singing backup with Albert.
Albert is a beast player! Got to see him a few years ago. What a doll.
I’m in tears 😢 what an absolute legend.
I never heard of Albert Lee until today. Boy was I in for a complete surprise. This man is an amazing guitar player with a style of his own. I even dig his singing too. I will definitely be going through his catalog of music.
If you like him on acoustic you'll love him on electric. Picks a Telecaster like Jerry Reed. He's pretty great on piano too.
Met Albert a couple of times and he's always been lovely. Great duet at the end guys.
Albert and Norm singing Dream. What a great moment! Many thanks Guys🙏
Sounded great.
@@Barry101er Didn’t it! Everyone watching was a member of the “Norm-etts” singing our best back up with him.
Such a legend! Love Albert's playing.
I gave you guys a big round of applause after that song at the end of the video. That was great!
I said hello to him at the checkout at Gelson's Supermarket in Calabasas(near Topanga) 25 yrs. ago......
What a superb Master Musician and kind soul!!!!
We had the rare joy of seeing Albert in Armagh a few years ago. This is an absolute giant, and it was a complete thrill to see and to hear him.
Alberts a players player and such a modest guy pleasure to watch this
I met Albert Lee in the Cavern in Liverpool. He is a lovely fella!
