White castle doesn't come with mustard, just onions and pickle.
You have to ask for other toppings.

You have to ask for mustard at White Castle. But it's a special mustard called Duesseldorf. It's really good.

He’s so hung up on the mustard! They never ever put mustard on a White Castle! Yuck! I’ve eaten them for 65 years! Yes, you’ll have onions in your lap! But they’re so good and their fries! Put a sprinkle of salt on the fries! Yummy!
Will, the Krystal’s will be cold by the time you got the White Castle food, so it might not taste as good if it’s cold or sets longer. I love Krystal’s little chicken sandwiches in Pigeon Forge! You definitely need to try those. I’m with Chris I like Krystal’s best.
I used to love throwing a big bag of Krystal's in the fridge and eating them cold later. Greasy Heaven!
I grew up in Ohio and we all loved White Castle !!! I can remember my brothers eating 10 at a time lol. They were always so fresh. They are not big but they were so good. White castle coffee is really good. They used to sell Krispy Cream Doughnuts and we would get those for breakfast with coffee. Fattening but so delicious. 😋 I tried Krystals in Florida, it was similar but not the real thing. Now you know if you want cheese or mustard , just order that way. Love you guys thanks for the video., But try WC again and order your way!!🤗❤️☀️
I was born in Indianapolis, my Dad's job transferred us to Georgia when I was 7 in 1976. Everytime we went up to visit relatives, we stuffed ourselves with White Castles in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee both on the way there Ann's turn back home. 😂 I will eat Krystals but my heart/tastebuds belong to White Castle burgers! 🥰🥰🥰
My dad's company transfered us from Chicago to Tennessee in 1980 when I was 5. We would do exactly the same plus would have to get Duncan Doughnuts and Jays potato chips.
I remember going to a slumber party and the girl's mother had brought home some White Castle's. I had never had them before. I liked them!

I'm from Indianapolis, but I've been living in GA for almost 7 years now and I definitely like White Castle better!
I've never had Krystal's so I can't comment but with the White Castle I like the fact they don't put mustard, I like to add my own condiments. One thing I have to say is the the WC onion chips are amazing, way better than any fry.
I've only had White Castle except frozen and heated in the micro wave. I'd love to try onion chips, they sound good.
The microwave frozen white castle burgers can be amazing if you do what I do. Dice up a bunch of onions put it in a frying pan then put the white castle patty on top and don't flip let the onions steam the patty and then for the bun microwave it till it's nice and soft and boom instant fresh white castle at home or you can take ground beef mash it into a rectangular shape on a baking sheet then cut into small slider sized squares freeze. Then cook in frying pan on medium low heat on top of a nice thick layer of freshly finely diced up onions and then let it cook and steam and never flip or let touch the frying pan or grill top. Scoop the onions and patty and serve on a Hawaiian slider rolls and boom fresh white castle at homs
Regarding White Castle, you have to tell them EVERYTHING on their burgers, it a ketchup and mustard mix, FRIKEN AWESOME. Been ordering them that way for years. My favorite is 3 double cheese burgers with EVERYTHING on it and a sack of their onion rings.👍👍👍👍👍
I have tried both, but I grew up and still live near Cincy, so it's gotta be White Castle for me. I get the cheeseburgers, no onion or light onion with their Dusseldorf mustard and onion chips. 😋
i grew up on White Castle since i was little in the early 60's, we're up north, but i've never tried Krystal. White Castle does not put mustard or anything but onions and pickle, i love sliders. i always order 2 double cheese, the mustard is up to you to put on, they have never put mustard on.
Wrong.....in the early 60s they came with a ketsup mustard blend on them with pickles and onions. To show how much prices have risen they use to be 12cents or 10 for a dollar lol but that was also alot of money back then

I worked at a white castle when i was in highschool and they still make the burgers same way they made them when they first opened. At white castle they take the patty cook ontop a layer of dehydrated onions that was rehydrated in water before cooking and it steam ontop of the onion and they just scoop all the the onions and burger patty right up off the grill top onto the bun. No mustard and condiments should be on a white castle burger ubless you ask

Thanks for reminding me about the "new" Krystal fries. Sorry, but I won't eat them since they started sort of "battering" them with maybe cornstarch or some other such nonsense. I always order the tater tots, now.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but I'm pretty sure the WC patties have 5 holes punched in them which equals marginally less meat per burger.
At Krystal I always ask for no mustard, too. To each his own, though...if you prefer the mustard, go for it.
Last but not least, you can find frozen WC burgers at Kroger and probably other groceries, too. If you follow their heating instructions, they reheat pretty well.
I have ALWAYS wanted to see a comparison taste test between these two restaurants! Thank you
I am a Krystal fan. I am born and raised in Krystal hometown in Chattanooga.
Been eating at White Castle and Krystal for many years, since the 1990's. White Castle burgers do not have mustard. WC burgers have five holes for the steam to go through the burger to the bun when they are being cooked People are friendlier at WC and the restaurants are operated better. Both have free refills on drinks. I sometimes went through Nashville on I-40 and ate at an intersection with a WC and Krystal at the same intersection. It was two blocks from I-40. The onions at WC are cooked more thoroughly. The Krystal buns are puffier. The WC buns are floppier. My preference has always been for the taste at WC.
White Castle always for me!! No mustard on my burger ever🤢.
The only thing I used to eat from Krystal were their breakfast bowls.
I grew up in the Cincinnati area and now live in Florida but all the White Castles I was ever in before were always clean no matter what their age but I can't say the same for Crystal. Crystal does include mustard on their burgers but WC never has unless you ask. I prefer without mustard and order them that way at Crystal. Keep up the good work showing us more restaurants.
What a great idea. I thought a fair, unbiased review. Murfreesboro and Nashville also have both. I'm from Chattanooga, home of Krystal (although they moved HQ to Atlanta a few years ago). But I enjoy White Castle. I remember you have to request mustard at WC, and it's brown. I think they are cooked differently too. Krystal steams the burgers which makes for warm bun. I don't think WC steams. If you get both hot, I would take Krystal burger over WC but WC fries over Krystal. I love crinkle fries. No question WC has nicer buildings. Great job, guys!

@@sdwagers Maybe someone can correct me on this. It's been a long time, but as I recall, a WC fan said that their burgers were cooked on the grill and any steam came from residual heat off the grill. On the other hand, Krystals have a cover over them, so the steam is contained and makes the buns perhaps more soft. Is this right? I do not know.

Sadly, Murfreesboro no longer has a White Castle. You have to drive up to Nashville for it. The Murfreesboro WC was the 1st place I had WC (I made a special drive just to try it a few years ago).
White Castle burgers never come with mustard, but they have a Düsseldorf mustard in packets that is amazing on White Castles!

Been mad at Krystal ever since they moved their headquarters from Chattanooga to Atlanta about 10 years ago. Krystal is good but every time after I end up in the bathroom for an extended period!

I dont know how to say it but say it, the burgers in the 50 s 60 s & 70 s were the best, growing up u could smell the hamburges from the outside and smell of cooking hamburger was so delicious smelling. I can still remember pulling up to even McDonads or any place even Wiolworths food counter. Its just not the same to me anymore. But i would love to try these looks good 😉

I lived in Georgia for nine years, Krystal's and Rally's are both addictive... I miss them. Krystal's has some great breakfast items, too. I wish they'd expand into the central states.
Krystal must have changed their fries! I remember their fries being crinkle cut like White Castle!

I ate at a Krystal a few months ago for the first time in 20 years. The fries which I remembered as being good were inedible. Salt overload poison seasoning, apparently what the public desires.

I ate at Krystals years ago. They dont even compare to White Castle. I'm 60 and I've never had any mustard on a white Castle. Extra pickles abd onions all the way! Lol
I prefer White Castle burgers by a little bit, and those jalapeno cheeseburgers are sooooo good. Everything else though, especially the chicken sandwiches, goes to Krystal for me. We have one of each pretty close to us and have gotten both in the same day a few times haha.
The only difference I can tell in Crystal and White Castle is White Castle Cooks the onions more they have more options you can have on your burger crystal is just mustard and cheese not saying it's not good but I prefer White Castle over Crystal
Thanks so much for this review I've always wondered what the difference was between Krystal and White Castle. I have access to Krystal on a daily basis but our new White Castle is far for me to drive and the one day I did the car line outside was a mile long so I left.

I grew up with White Castle in Michigan and loved them. Moved to Florida in the 80's and they had Krystal's. My favorite thing on a burger is mustard, pickle and onion. Krystal's has it. I like the bun on a White Castle more. It's softer, and the rest of it...the Krystal burger hands down.

There's some white castles in the vegas area, they had a slider with jalapeño cheese that really made it good. The regular ones are just too plain for my liking
White Castle doesn't do mustard. I grew up in the Chicagoland area with it, they don't put it on there. Now I live in Florida and have Krystal. I like Krystal, but I think White Castle is way better. Just my opinion. They opened one in Orlando, I can't wait to head over there. They're both great in their own way. I like both.
Big Red and Dusseldorf mustard is a must for White Castle's - do it right next time for an honest comparison 😉
YES!! The head to head I wanted! White Castle is the home to the King. Krystal needs mustard to make it, so it's mustard vs no mustard review. Lol I find the WC bun to be superior to the K. (White castles must be ordered with "everything" for ketchup and mustard. White Castle drink sizes are larger compared M:M etc...) P.S Tim Tracker ate his first White Castle on his vlog today 😆
yes a small is like a medium, and a large like an extra large.
I'm from Tennessee so I grew up on Krystal but White Castle is way better. I've actually drove to London, KY just to get White Castles. That spicy mustard is the best so without that, you can't judge the burger. You have to put it on yourself which I like because Krystal never puts enough on.

Growing up in Bristol, we had the Blue Circle, circle-burgers, basically the same as Krystal/White Castle, small round hamburger with onion, pickle and mustard. ran through a steam machine to make the bun all wrinkly. One of the Blue Circles is still open, but I haven't tried the circle-burgers in a lot of years.
I loved the Blue Circles here in Knoxville, I hated to see them go out of business, but Kyrstals took over. Unfortunately a lot of the Krystals have shut down in the area. I have eaten WC in Florida once on vacations, sometimes I get the frozen ones from the store, they are OK.
They're both good when you have a craving, but I prefer White Castle if I had to choose and while I like mustard on hotdogs, it's slightly overpowering on the little burgers.

The best thing Krystal ever had was when they used to serve waffle cut chili cheese fries. They still have those fries but they’re regular cut and not as good as before. I still like the double cheese Krystals. As for White Castles, I’ve only had them from the grocery store, but they’re very good.

Burgers and onions in a large pot. Cover pot over a low flame. Flip when necessary.

White Castle is so much better. Never had mustard that's always been a Krytals thing.
Krystal is definitely a different experience without the pickles there to overpower the other flavors. Plus, they have better fries.
Many years ago, the White Castle I frequented, had catsup, mustard, and a combination of both. You got the combo if you didn't request one or the other.
I'm white castle my husband is Krystals.but he never had white castle not even frozen ones.we taking trip out of pigein forge to Knoxville so he can try fresh one.. I will eat Krystal once awhile.my son loves krystals.
I forgot to tell you the White Casrlt near me also has very large drinks. I ask for a small because it's more like a medium.

I live in Chicago. We. Don’t put condiments on our White Castle. Unless you ask for everything sauce. And I lived in Tennessee as a kid. Krystal’s meat taste nothing like White Castle
I like both both places and will certainly eat at either restaurant, given a choice however as a southerner I will definitely choose Krystal’s.
I like white castle I buy at grocery store. That's the only place we can get them in Atlanta.
But I'm seventy and as far as the to go as food , me and my husband love Krystal BEST hands down.
White Castle 🏰 is my favorite! You gotta ask for seasoning on the fries at White Castle!

Georgia gal living in Indianapolis. It’s Krystal’s for me. I MUST have them when I go down south. I do like WC chicken sliders. But the burgers are soggy asf! Plus Krystal’s has a broader menu than WC. 😊
The condiments (mustard, ketchup, etc) were in packets in White Castle. You probably did not see them.

Onion is more prominent on White Castle because the meat is cooked on a bed of onions and the burger never touches the grill.

White Castle never has put mustard or ketchup on the burgers. Known for the onion taste. I grew up on White Castle on the So side of Chicago. Back then they cost a dime. The smell would be incredible, us kids couldn’t wait. Our Father used to walk out with two bags of burgers costing $2.00 which was for 20 burgers. Wow, bring the old days back pls. I used to work for White Castle in the late 1990's of course I've got tired of the burgers, now I like them again as of now, never head crystals yet.
Now when I go and eat White Castle, burgers, I always order with extra cooked onions, 2 pickle slices, no mustard or Ketchup at all, to me the White Castle tastes best, their mayonnaises, in their packets, not Hellman's, better with miracle whip, this is how I enjoy some white Castles!

White Castle does not come with mustard. They have brown mustard you can ask for and put on yourself. That is a medium size cup at White Castle.

They are cooked on a bed of onions with the bun on top of the meat. So it all cooks together. And the cups are bigger from white castle their medium is like a McDonald's large lol. You can ask white castle for mustard and ketchup and they will put it on as long as they have bottles
