Love your reactions. So pure in emotion. So genuine.
I spent a night in jail in Boston in 1998 and the officers not only let me smoke but gave me their own cigarettes, but only if I could do more push ups than one of the cops. So yes, you could smoke in there. Good times.
Nia when Robin Williams passed away the bench in Boston Public Garden became a huge memorial and even today it's a popular place for pictures. What I find most amazing is that Matt and Ben could write such a beautiful and layered script at such a young age. This movie started as a writing assignment for Matt Damon while he was attending Harvard. They both totally deserved their Oscars for Best Original Screenplay
I've been there a few times (Australian) and it was a bench. A beautiful bench, on a simple artificial duck lake. I don't imagine it will stay that way. It's iconic now.
I LOVE how Robin goes from calling him "sport" and ends up calling him "son" at the end.
"It's not your fault." I don't think many people get through that scene without tears.
Unless u have no empathy
I sure as fuck don't. That one hits hard for the abused kids.
10:17 this monologue about his wife farting is 100% improvised by Williams and Damen's reaction is genuine, no acting. Obviously this goes without saying, but Robin Williams was a legend. This movie is a perfect example of his dramatic and comedic acting prowess.
When Ben's character talks about knocking on Will's door and hoping that he won't be there - it's like him almost giving permission for Will to get out of here and live his potential. Saying that he won't be angry that he left or hold it against him. Almost making it as easy as he can for him by saying you don't even have to say goodbye. Just do it.
One of my all time favorite movies. Robin Williams delivers his lines with such emotion that it’s almost impossible not to be moved.
Considering how beloved he is as this madcap improv comedian, he’s also staggeringly good as an actor in such subtle, warm roles. In this, and in Awakenings, he is just incredible.
That park bench scene is the scene that absolutely sold me on this film and made it become one of my all time favs
I saw this movie when it was first released and countless times since. When I first saw it, I was in my mid-twenties and I'm now in my early-fifties; this movie continues to deliver. It's a masterpiece.
Sidenote:
Affleck and Damon wrote this movie. I just saw "Air" (in theaters now), which they also wrote and starred in. It was also great. I totally recommend it .
Nothing wrong with giving us reactions without too much words. It's more genuine and authentic like that.
The wife-farting-in-her-sleep-story was improvised by the great Robin Williams. Matt Damon cracking up in response is real laughter.
Best part of the movie , helped Robin break the ice between him and Will
, laughed my head off watching it !
The "it's not your fault" scene is one of the great acting scenes of all time, but not many people comment on Will saying "not you, Sean" when he's getting riled up. It's the first real glimpse of how much Sean means to him
Such an amazing movie. Written SO well, and the performances are impeccable. The soundtrack by Elliott Smith is incredible also.
Yes! The music really complemented the story well, made it so much more impactful
@Nia Maki where did you put your "conclusion" video? I'd really like to watch that also, but I missed it at the end of the reaction, and now can't seem to find it (without going back in to the reaction video).
@@zmarko ua-cam.com/video/-P0k0mNsDAU/v-deo.html I’ll start pinning a comment with them to help find them easier, sorry about that
@@NiaMakiReacts thank you!
The final phrase "he stole my line" was improvised. Matt Daemon and some crew were behind the camera at the time and they nearly lost their shit with laughter when he said it!
15:21 and 15:37 Those are my most favorite and meaningful moments with someone, just doing something that might seem boring, but it's just the two of you and the conversation. It doesn't have to be anywhere flashy or planned, just sharing a silly day together. I'm glad they showed those contextual and spontaneous moments at the start of their relationship and didn't just breeze past them. It's such a timeless and powerful movie, crazy it's been 26 years.
So happy you have seen this movie now. I feel it's one of these movies that change you a little bit. And often for the better. Thanks again for sharing all of this with us.
It was a beautiful movie, I wasn’t expecting it to pull on the heartstrings that much!
Love the user name, but, describe in single words only the good things that come to mind about your mother...
This movie was so authentic. It found a way to hit everyone in the feels in some way.
Some other excellent movies of Robin are good morning Vietnam, awakenings, Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire,,the Bird Cage, Dead poets society. The bench is still there, it's now a memorial, and Matt says he goes there on Robin's bday and sometimes takes his kids!
This is great, but there’s another underappreciated Oscar nominee from 1997 you should check out, and it’s not Titanic. As Good As It Gets, starring Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear, Cuba Gooding and the actress who does the voice of Lisa Simpson. Incredible, funny, sad, thought provoking movie with amazing dialogue.
Seconded.
Excellent film.
It even managed to make me, a dude in his early 20s when I watched it, connect with Jack's character, even though on the surface we would have almost nothing in common.
Uggghhhhhh........ mehh
You don't have to say a lot of words to have a great reaction. Your endearing expression and warmth spoke volumes. This was one of my favorite reactions to Good Will Hunting. Now I have to subscribe and check out the rest of your reactions. Awesome!
Great reaction. This is one of my favorites. Wouldn’t worry about the lack of commentary. Your tears and laughter said plenty.
You had me getting emotional, I can tell your genuine & you just being yourself. I appreciate that. I found my favorite reaction movie channel. Keep smiling & shining. 🙏
That bench is still there. Its kind of a memorial for Robin Williams.
I absolutely loved your reaction to it! I think it says a lot for it and for you that you didn't have much to say while watching it. You have nothing to apologize for. You said it all when you were "not" crying. 😉 P.S. it makes me cry too. And I cry when I see you cry. I'm just a mess! 😄 Thank you for sharing with us. Many hugs.
phenomenal acting across the board, and a beautiful screenplay. one of my all time favorite movies right here
This is one of many movies that I also put off seeing for a long time. For whatever reason (I honestly don't even remember why) I just felt it wouldn't be for me. When I finally got around to watching it, I loved every minute of it, and needed tissues more than once before it was over. It's always wonderful to see reactors watch it for the first time. I feel like this is a movie that speaks to everyone in some way. And it's an amazing showcase of talent for a lot of the actors in it, but especially Robin Williams. That man was amazing!
Loved this movie and loved watching your reaction to seeing it for the first time. Very impressed by your ability to recognize the meaning behind the many impactful scenes as they played out.
I love Nia see in your face all that happens! You´re one of the bests for me. This is a hard movie and sooo deep!!
I tear up everytime I watch this movie. Great reaction as always.
Love this movie! Robin Williams was the best. Wonderful reaction and love the Fresh Prince reference, was a great scene
I really miss you Robin Williams - thank YOU for the decades of laughter, smiles, and tears.
"can it make it all the way there or is he just driving to the airport?" LOL!!
Imo, the park bench scene is one of the best in movies! Great reaction!
Your reaction was perfect. Thank you.
Damn i miss that man. RIP Robin. Thanks for all the wonderful memories brother ❤
And thank you Nia for sharing your smiles and the tears ❤
What a beautiful tenderheart you have young lady. Made an old man tear up. Bless you
thanks for watching Bobby! The story does all the work
Loved your reaction. This one hit home and I think this movie has the one of the best soundtracks w/Elliott Smith and great one-liners as well really hits home if you've gone through some of that shit.
‘Yea I don’t know what it is about Mat just puts me at sleep‘ Best movie comet ever!!! 😂😂🤣
I have always thought that the brother's names he lists off are ones he was close to in foster care.
I think that most everyone recognizes Ben's brother, Casey. But, I have yet to hear anyone express recognition of the fourth of the Four Horsemen, Cole Hauser, AKA. Rip of Yellowstone fame.
This film won an Oscar for adapted screenplay and now you can see why, it can evoke emotions just through words and acting mostly by the late great Robin Williams.
Another good but different screenplay that won an Oscar too is "JoJo Rabbit". It's maybe a little funnier but still evoking emotion through writing.
I'll second Jojo Rabbit. Just saw it a few weeks ago for the first time, absolutely amazing.
Hon ya have the best reaction to this movie I've seen yet
that scene at the park bench always hit deep.
I appreciate your vulnerability and genuine reaction.I am a 45 year old contractor who also cried at these parts...I think you have to be somewhat yourself or yourself to feel right? It's though who are not themselves who don't feel....often anything right.Appreciate you!
There's no thick wooed roads on the way to Logan airport, but there is on the highway heading west ;)
When I was younger, I had heard of this movie but never looked into it much and I just assumed it would be a boring movie so years went by and I only watched it about 5 years ago and I was so blown away. One of the best movies. So happy you liked it.
Also you are like a ray of sunshine. Dont ever change for anyone. Just be you always :)
PS. If I may recommend a movie that maybe you've not seen and could react to. Well a few recommendations:
Warrior - 2011 movie with Tom Hardy
Apocalypto - movie direct by Mel Gibson
House of Sand and Fog
Beautiful, thank you!!!!!
I grew up in southie. This was filmed around the corner from my house. It was great.
Yes! You reacted to my favorite movie! 😀
This feels like a movie length therapy session. Everyone learns a little about themselves from watching it.
Comedians are the best dramatic actors
I heard that the "My wife used to fart" story was Robin Williams improvising, so that was Matt Damon ACTUALLY cracking up.
Little did I know I was watching a classic when I picked this to see while stuck in Atlanta for a class since Will is also an alias for William as is Bill.
39:14 VERY good call. I never made that connection before, but you're absolutely right. The attempt to put up a brave front before finally crumbling.
The only difference here is that Sean (Robin Williams) did that on purpose. He just drilled down on him until he cracked through all of Will's (Matt Doman) attempts to deflect.
That episode of Fresh Prince is a masterpiece though. I wrote a paper on it in college. And Will Smith and James Avery's performances in that final scene are incredible.
You made a very good choice scenes!
That military picture at 13:34 was used in the bionic man from the 70's. I might be the only person on the planet that knows that.
Man, this movie... It is so dear to my heart.
Amazing classic Good Will Hunting starring Matt Damon and Robin Williams👍👍👍
Robin Williams ad libbed “Son of a bitch. He stole my line.” They loved it so much they left it in the film. ❤
cool reaction nia great movie
Probably one of the best written screenplays of all time...
Wonderful and real reaction’
Thank you!
I’ve grown accustomed to watching you cry. I don’t know how I feel about that.
"Here's your Oscar, Mr. Williams"
One of my favorite movies. It gets me everytime 😭
Love this movie NIA, love love love it!
Powerful movie! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍
Every Robin Williams scene.
I had wondered for a long time why no one took credit for proving the first theorem. I realized that they would probably want them to prove it again and/or explain it.
9:24 this is Harmony Korine, who wrote Kids and directed such movies as Gummo and Spring Breakers.
The biggest detail I can't help but appreciate is all the students that didn't take credit for Matt Damon's work in the beginning weren't just being honest for honesty's sake, they know they'll be made to do problems like that and harder if professors think they have the knowledge to solve those complex equations
I'm only halfway through this and I'm crying. There is a lot of therapy in this.
yeah man! think if I watch it again, it will start hitting me hard immediately
(.01%film)
I'm really happy you finally got around to seeing this film. 💯I knew you would love it 💯.🌚💯💯💯💯
Ronin Williams did a lot of improve with his scenes and the crew loved him. The fart scene was all about Robin doing improve and just making it happen and Matt was really laughing. Amazing!
He is driving to the west coast to stay. Took what he could with him. No round trip ticket.
Ahhh yes. Good Will Cunting. Not to be confused with Snatch Adams
Just happy it meant something to somebody
The younger guy in their gang is Ben's brother. Hard to believe they wrote this starting as teens and had no idea how to script write! And won Oscars! And amazingly got Robin and Stellen Skarsgard to star in this! The red head guy is a brilliant actor but a bit crazy, his dad was a amazing actor but definitely bat shit insane!
21:20 Did you notice that grin on his face? He knows he's cracking through...
This movie is therapy for the audience
This movie is just amazing. Feels like sitting through a therapy session lol
bless your beautiful heart dearest Nia
Great reaction! I've seen this movie more times than I can count. Not gonna lie, I tear up every time during certain scenes.
If you don't mind me asking, what is your ethnicity?
Thanks! This movie definitely gets you choked up, I didn’t expense that backstory at all! Oh, and I’m Japanese and Kenyan
@@NiaMakiReacts Yeah, it's a roller coaster of emotions for sure! It's got a little bit of everything.
And wow, I don't think I've ever heard of that ethnic combination before, interesting! Cutie pa-tootie 😛
I wish I had an interesting ethnic background. I'm just a mut of poor European white people that eventually moved to America lol
There is another great movie with Robin Williams called "Dead Poets Society."
We all love ❤️ and miss you 😢 Robin Williams.
Rest in Peace💔
Seeing your face react is worth any words you might say.
Had to sneak in some shmurda I love it
Robin Williams improvised that story about his characters wife farting in her sleep and Matt Damons reaction is entirely his own.
This is my favorite movie
Does anyone remember the Exxon Valdesse (sp) Will references in his speech to the NSA?
@Nia Maki Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks, not in what they say, just in what they are. Don't ever doubt how truly beautiful you are, and always know you are well worth the appreciation that you receive. 🙂
"Do you enjoy the produce section? Well, she and I are going to be KISSING there from now on. So, if you don't want to cry when you see us, you're going to have to hang out in the laundry detergent aisle now, where luckily, no one will be able to smell you for all the boxes of detergent." 🍎Boom... got 'em on the rewrite. 😐
GWH is in my top five! ♥
Stellan Scarf-sgård. :D
Oh... BOOOOO!! 😀
JK... I laughed a lot..
you know the funny thing about that last comment is people today don't remember that pos clunkers used to be reliable even if they were pos cars since they were better quality back then... the posibility of the car not making it across the entire country was not an issue anyone thought about when this movie was released.
I loooove that you aren't against Lambo. Most people villainize him. And to be fair, he did have his interests going into the situation, but you can see he really likes Will and wants what's best for him, he just tried doing it by pushing him.
yay my favorite!
Would love to see you do saving private Ryan, Braveheart, the green mile, Forrest Gump, gladiator, field of dreams
Yeah I went to one therapist & couldn’t do it, I immediately didn’t trust the therapist & basically just blocked all of her questions after that. That was years ago & I’ll go to a new one eventually but that’s why I cry a lot in this movie, for dual reasons, one robin williams is breaking down similar things to my life (I’m no genius not an orphan but other things are true, for example cocky {smart wise} but scared {23 year old kid} who doesn’t know anything ab the world) although I have been in the Sistine chapel & it smells like normal air, but I’ve never been truly vulnerable with a woman, tried a few times & slept with many women in college but it’s never been pure vulnerability & love. It’s inspiring, {gonna go see about a girl.}) I’m 23 now so I know I don’t know shit, only person I’ve been truly vulnerable with is my parents & that’s bc I trust & know they’ll never tell what I said. It’s hard even with parents, but an orphan or abusive family would make it even harder, everyone has a chance regardless of their circumstances. Very luckily I have great parents.
So no I think anybody with a heart cries or thinks deeply about themselves or others they care about or feels the need for therapy watching this movie
I sob at this movie every time
For sure 😩 if I rewatch I’ll definitely be ready with tissue and ice cream!
@ 20:29 ...Matt's laughter was genuine because the fart story was ad-libbed.
