Hey Christo, we’re not 100% sure where we caught it but one of our followers on Instagram said she saw us at a restaurant the week before and she also tested positive on the same day as us so we believe it could have been there!

We just hit our 60s and the NC500 has been on our bucket list for some time … so 2022 is the year for us … excited !

We have an idea as someone else we know caught it and we were both in a bar on the same night. Just shows you though, you always need to be careful and also there is no point living in fear of it as you can catch it anywhere! Stay safe and alert and youll be fine 😊❤️ You are going to love it! Awe bless you both. I’ve just gone for a pcr test today as I’ve been feeling yuk the last couple of days. I am housebound so I’ve caught it through my hubby yet he has no symptoms. I’m hearing you when you said earache radiating down your jaw and the headache is from hell.
Thats such a common symptom it would seem, yet I hadn't heard it before I experienced it. Not fun! Hope you feel better soon

Thank you for sharing your experience even though it was not a good one. Here in Australia we don't get to hear much about the virus, so your vlog was an eye opener for us. Just so glad you were well prepared with supplies. And put that horrible camping expedition down to what not to do on the NC500 ha ha ha.

I check the numbers most days and the Highlands seem to have way more infections than you would imagine, given the population. Glad you are both back on the road and looking forward to your next adventure. Stay well!
Yeah I guess because they dont have much natural immunity from the first wave? Who knows! We are all better now though thanks 😁
Similar story. I realised I had covid (or a bad flu) in the middle of a camping trip up a mountain. The ascent was tougher than usual but I attributed it to feeling tired and stressed. After a very sweaty night I called off the trip and walked back slowly to my car. I had no energy and felt I couldn't trust my legs on tricky terrain. I tested positive later that day and lost nearly 2 weeks between covid and a chest infection I developed. I had only one occasion in the previous 2 weeks when I could have gotten it as I work remotely. Really bad luck. My family were joking how do you get covid solo camping up the side of a mountain hut of course that's not what happened.
What a nightmare! We always wonder if our symptoms would have been less sever if we weren’t so run down from this trek 😋 hope you’re fully recovered now!

I’ve just found your channel and haven’t watched all of your uploads yet, but apologies if you’ve already been here, but I’d LOVE for you to visit Southend, right down at the very bottom of the Mull of Kintyre. My favourite, favourite place as a young girl. Not been there for a lot of years as I live in Yorkshire now but would love to see what it’s like now and if it’s changed. xx

Watching you guys from quarantine in Austria - thankfully we have a garden and more than one room. But as you are looking for suggestions for where to go..... Austria is definitely up there - there are even some Scots to visit ;) we have the best mountains and lakes, and the weather tends to be a bit better too.
Would LOOOVE to get Ellie over to Austria, it is an incredible country 😁 visit a few years back on the train and loved it
Got a few places in Germany, i did stay at some of them in a tent, but thats years ago. But most take campers, Cologne/Koln, Bad Harzburg,
Hameln, Koblenz, Berlin, Goslar, Cochem. But there are lots more, it depends where you want to go. Are you taking your own or renting. Then you also have to think of the season. If you can find any in Belgium, Brugge is a beautiful place. Then don’t forget France, Holland, Luxembourg, Switzerland the world awaits. Good luck

I’m sure Europe is ok and all, but doing a coast to coast of Canada would blow your adventurous minds! Start in beautifully rugged Newfoundland, Visit historic French Quebec, Southern Ontario for a Jays game and the Toronto scene, take in the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains and finish in Olympic Vancouver. The people are some of the nicest in the world. Telling ya, it would be fantastic, eh.

I haven’t been to Scotland since I was a kid in ‘89, so I’ve been loving your tour of the “old country”! Hi both, well Scotland has been beautiful so next stop could be Ireland, another beautiful place, both North & South, just a thought.
Ireland is definitely on the list, we did a road trip around the north and south of Ireland around 3 years ago and absolutely loved it so we definitely want to do it again in the van 😁
You two had me in stitches, I don't think the outside adventuring is for the two of you 🤣🤣... if you had turned around and went a little up the hill there's a bothy house that at the very least would of protected you from the wind! @@highlands2hammocks I bet there wasn't much of a view early hours it would of been dark 🤣🤣... keep knocking them out your both fab! There's a ruin that's the old shepherd's hut bit further up there's an actual bothy you can use, maybe give it a visit next time you go :-)

There is never any driftwood at Sandwood , good job you carried wood in ! I always camp in the shelter of the dunes ,where you can still hear the sea. Have you been to Cape Wrath yet ? Well worth it ! But as the guy who suggested you go to Sandwood I am feeling a bit guilty😌
Never thought about that but that is very true! Glad we brought our own haha Not been further north than Sandwood because of the weather, but hope to get the ferry enxt eyar and visit Kearvaig!

Glad you are both feeling better. Just remember that you should not take a test for the next 90 days from when symptoms began, as you could test positive but not be infectious.
Only take a test if you have NEW symptoms. It should be a PCR as they check at the lab for the variant...it could be a new one.

It has an incubation period. So I would imagine you got it at your luxury stop prior to going to the beach. Glad you are doing ok 👍🏻.

Covid 19 can hang around outdoor air for six to eight minutes, indoor air 2-3 hours per testing.

Early treatment is the key. Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquin would knock that bug out in under a week. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Luckily we are healthy enough to have fought it off with just rest. Thanks for the advice!
It’s mad that potentially some people created this illness in a test lab in China which then travelled all the way around the world and infected two people travelling in a camper van in remote Scotland!
dont know about the lab but it is crazy how small the world really is!
@@highlands2hammocks the lab is now accepted as more likely than nature. The scientists were discouraged from speaking up about their findings initially.

that stinks....my niece and sister-in-law also got infected and they'd been vaccinated as well and still felt pretty lousy for 3-4 days....again, I'm glad you're okay now, was quite a dreadful night out there in that tent on the beach!
Vaccines wear off after 4 to 6 months. And useless against omicron.

C19 has a gestation period of up to 21 days, so you had that infestation long before Sandwood!!! Bummer. Glad you both got through it and are back on track.
Had you traipsed a little beyond the beach, over the river and up the hill a bit, you'd have seen Strathchailleach both, once the shepherd's hut my great grandfather worked from (not the ruin by the lochan, though that too was a shepherd's hut). Strathchailleach is now a both and you'd have had a proper fire and shelter! YAM xx
Yeah we reckon we caught it at a pub a few days before as someone else said they caught it and were in the same bar as us.. That bothy was our original plan but it got dark too quickly and we didnt have a map 😬 glad we didnt though as we would have had so much longer to walk! Had no idea it was your relatives! That is fascinating!
