Hi Andrzej! These floats are looking very sweet, even if they will not carry the heli on water! BUT as a crazy guy by myself I have an idea for you: Keep them for days with lots of snow! Maybe you can use them like skies on the little heli and make some taxiing on the ground in te snow. If make a flat harder spot??? Instead of having a landing gear with wheels you could glide on them! Maybe worth a trial!
Hi Matthias. Thank you for an interesting idea, I will leave the floats on and try. I am not sure if it's going to work on this and other RC ERA helicopter because of the way the FC works on these helicopters - when the helicopter touches the ground (heli can't descent further) the FC automatically goes into a motor shut down/landing mode. That's the thing with these type of helicopters - low degree of freedom for a pilot to control a helicopter.
@@AndrejSturm Ah!! Of course! I did not think of this because I NEVER fly so called "easy to fly" helis because of this disadvantage. I was flying my Bell 206 eight times to find out it givs me personally close to zero fun...Especially that I have so many fuly manual controlled helis which I love to fly as an alternative. Now it's in my "museum", because it really looks great. It's really a pitty that you cant fly these helis in 3D mode for full control!
Looks good tho, maybe try some foam floats. Btw Andrej do you have a mod for using alternate lipos on this great little heli. Have a great Xmas my friend. Cheers Stew J.
Hi Stew, I have not tried to make that mod as there is such a small battery compartment on this heli and I don't have small enough 2s Lipo packs to fit in there. Greetings from Slovenia.
@AndrejSturm I tried making the Plane Print Icon. Threw the whole thing away when I found out it won't float. Who designs a float plane that doesn't float? Plane Print. Also, floats for the heli have no "step." There's no need for it as they don't taxi. Just a long tube that tapers off at the rear. Length on your floats look correct. Love your channel! Thanks for all the great tips. If I do floats for mine, think I'll carve them out of foam. I live on a lake, so floats that actually float are crucial. 😉
@@RARenfield I was not aware that there's no step on heli floats. Thank you for letting me know. I have already printed the floats for my MD500 and they are just awesome. It's such a joy to practice water take-offs and landings - I only managed to practice indoors as there's snow outside and all frozen & windy. More info: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6887732

Hi C189 MD 500 with floats 👍👍👍👍

All videos super
Fill the floats with foam
What if you made the floats out of Styrofoam?

Thanks Andrej.
Just a thought one could make room underneath simply with a strip of Velcro or make up a under slung cargo capsule.
That could work.
Bateria so vai dura 2 minutos 😅😅😅😅
So they're "sinks," not floats. 🤣 Back to the drawing board...
You are right, new floats already designed and printed. This time for a more powerful RC ERA MD500. I hope the heli will float this time ...
