Had this DVD as a kid and it was so inspiring to watch as a young musician, these dudes completely busted their asses making this album, it's insane how many things went wrong during its production and it's crazy that it even got finished
Yo i use to play this album while i worked at subway, i mean for the whole store to hear it
You’re a good person
NO SAMMICHES FOR NORMIES!!!
I did the same at Starbucks with Pig Destroyer, but I got in trouble for it lol
I can't believe he forced these poor bastards to downpick through that Massacre riff. That whole bit is buried under a barrage of blastbeats and dual vocals, no one would notice the difference in a million years!
@The Darkcel Podcast I think everyone would have been saved so much pain if that one fucking riff was allowed alternate picking... Like, take that ONE FUCKING LIBERTY and you may be able to ACTUALLY finish your album!
@@Thrashochist thats the artists version of OCD I guess, everything just to be exactly right and perfect
Yeah.
luke would though
Half of the talent on that record was buried under a cacophony of noise. Most of the intricacies during the recording process could have been forfeited for easier alternatives to absolutely zero detriment to the final product. After all, that shit has to be easily repeatable so as to be played live.
If I had that kind of wrist stamina, I would never leave the house.
lockdown man, I could probably play faster than them now :D
Carpel tunnel.
Cmacdhon's dick has left the chat
This is my favorite album of all time, nice to see that there's a documentary now.
This dvd was released many many years ago friend
Ive had this DVD for 20 about years lol
@@xttocx 2004 it came out I think. Dissimulate is one of my favourite all-time albums. I feel like The Berzerker lost their way later on but Dissimulate sounded so huge it was unreal. It will stand the test of time in another twenty years. It's a great album
Makes them downpick Massacre but he does his vocals at half speed 😆
Man people don't realise how good we have it today to record almost anyone can do it at home if you have a medium spec PC now
1:39:10 This rant made me so happy, my favourite part of this doco. Love the album, the dedication and the PAIN. Do it again.
Yeah!!! I own this DVD as one of my top Metal Treasures!!!
Great documentary, there's a hilarious part when he realized that this masterpiece of an album was too much for Microsoft's fuckin Windows 98!!!
Well it was actually just that he was pretty much computer illiterate and didn't have a fucking clue as to what he was doing.
"You wrote this on the fucking keyboard didnt you" "That i did"
This is amazing, ive been in 1 successful band meaning made a full cd and played some non paying or hardly paying shows in my 25+ years of playing and everything he said about all the negative stuff on here was like he was explaining my brain at the time.
Sam is one of the best death metal vocalists. Proper good vocals.
I agree, deep and powerful growl but still the words are distinguishable. His Jeff Walker raspy vocals are also great. He's way overlooked.
And it's funny as fuck because back then he looked like he worked in an office. LOL
@@FlyboyHelosim I know! Insane shit man.
super cool to see the process. wish i had some pals i could bunker up with and make an industrial grind album too
Come to uk
that guitar tone was actually sick to bad it got buried in a few tracks
Holy shit, this is a real gem. What does Luke have an enormous amount of determination
Luke just seemed impossible to work with - if you're going to police the guiar playing to THAT extent, then play it yourself.
I just watched the DVD recently (again),still listen to these guys and very glad they have re-united !
Where’s the fkn album haha
@@thewelshbeersnob2783 well we still have werewolves while we are waiting.
That Canadian dudes vocals were really good. Surprised he didn't use them
There's very few things I can truly say I've ever drawn inspiration from, but this whole "do it again" thing Luke does with takes getting the source content as close to perfection before editing is how I've been in every band on the last 2 decades.
Shame that "fix it in the mix" is the new thing. It's fucking bullshit. Even in my degree they say it doesn't have to be perfect as can be edited. What is the fucking point??
Top 10 Metal Albums of all time. Hands Down
This album takes me back, I loved Massacre so much.
I love this documentary so much. I just wish their efforts could be remixed to the point where we can actualy hear their efforts. Severe comminitment to the cause! Down pick everything!
knew these guys back the speedcore days and loved this dvd, wish they were still together
They're releasing a new album whenever this COVID-19 thing is over.
@@cloudwizard7694 speedcore or metal? Luke or?
@@pek5117 Check out their facebook, they're doing metal and again sounds like the sound progressed from the last album. That's what I always loved about the band, they were the only ones doing this stuff and the always bettered themselves. Luke is also directing a project with fans, people collaborating with him online from all over the world.
@@cloudwizard7694 i like more when it was pure amiga style speedcore in the mid 90's. I've heard about lukes film work but haven't seen much
@@pek5117 I like the rawness of the first album and the second one improved on that. And for that reason I don't simply pick one over the other, except world of lies as a whole was little weaker than the rest. And sure, the speedcore stuff is also fun.
wish these guys were still together!
they are again!
Luke Kenny is cool guy. Met him several times, really nice dude. Berzerker were an Awesome band.
He said Canada and strapping right?! Oh fuck yeah!
That's so awesome! I didn't know you came to Canada to work on this album, I love your music.. I was looking forward to seeing some of the drum track recording process though, I love the speedcore, gabber element in the kick drums. Shout out to Thunderdome tshirt (1:41:51)
Very entertaining, wasn't expecting to watch the whole thing
this is easily the best 'making of' video for any metal album
I still have my DVD from back in the day! When you could actually find this in HMZ lol I watched this so many times.
one of the most brutal bands Australia has ever produced \m/
One of the most brutal bands the world has ever produced.
How can a band be "brutal"?
@@bensmith5288 either you don't understand metal and how metal heads talk to get across their ideas, or you're just a prick trying to troll. If it's the first one how did you even get to this video, if it's the second one fuck the fuck off you fucking fuck
@@someweirdguy5721 LMFAO
All the years of these guys have been in my top 10 favorite bands I never knew that this album came from the '90s that just blows my mind all over again
this band is a limit pusher. thank you for the amazing music ! :)
Why did Luke EVER shave his eyebrows? Also seems like he did the whole vlogging thing before it was a real thing.
Possibly the stress of trying to record/release the album?
Ask him, he’s quite easy to find on social media...let me know your answer 😁
The only band doing this genre..luv this gifted band..
Koala mutant fish bird - this WAS the best record label of my youth... now they don’t give me earache
"And when I drink, I don't drink beer. I mean EVER.
...but this time was an exception."
Maybe he should have drank more beer.
That would have made album creation process easier.
...or completely impossible.
I thought it was something like, and I don’t drink, and I don’t drink beer, I mean ever, well I guess you learn something new every day
This guy had no clue what he was doing
Yeah it's frustrating.
38:50 DO IT AGAIN
I use to listen to this album non stop, I had no idea there was a DVD!
This is Fucking awesome finding this now
I remember the bezerker and strapping young lad....their shows at Hi Fi lounge .....
Shout out to whoever made it through thinking there was gonna be a drummer session somewhere to be seen since they have a drummer on their videos.
And yes, I know they play on top of hundreds of samples, and that many drum patterns are overlayed, but there is an actual drum pattern behind everything.
They only had a drummer for the first time after this album was recorded. The drummer played on Dissimulate, which followed the album in the documentary. There was another doc for Dissimulate, which includes the drum tracking, but is much shorter.
As great as Devin Townsend is, I’ve always thought he had a slick sort of greasy business side. Sort of manipulative. It’s strange how you almost have to have that kind of quality to succeed.
WHAT THE FUCK! BRUTAL!
I just love the 'Aussieness' of how he said Brutal.
Luke! I met him in 2004.
wonder if these guys back then even knew what carpal tunnel is lmao
Outstanding band!! Outstanding Album!!
yaya CUBASE .. atari !
All that work and I torrent the albums.
Thanks for the free good music, keep it up!
Fuck that would suck 😂 the X-ray machines erased the midis and presets!?
Goddam awesome fucking album!!!!!!!!!
16:53 What kind of amp is that in the corner? It looks like a Peavey something, but i've never seen a tall ass amp/combo like that ever before lmao, I don't expect to get any replies, but if I do that would be awesome
I found them on Reverb. Their Peavey 1210 T-5 Column PA speakers (possibly with a modded amp built into the speakers).
@@kiethveseyofficial ahhh I gotcha. I was super curious about those cause I had never seen them before. I thought the tweaters at the top were EQ/Gain knobs lol
Too bad Matt and Sam are now both in
The Antichrist Imperium.
But I am still wishing for this band to come back.
They are, new album
Please Come Back!
I'm glad this album ended up being mostly Aussie
Do it again
Absolute machine.
What? He work with Devin with this album?
Why couldn't he use any of Vals recordings?
Cause the original crew couldn't tour the material I believe. So it was never used.
Which band was he in? What is his surname?
Good Effort
Funniest shit ever, too real
Dude if you need someone that can drum 300bpm+ drop me a line. I make Dave Gray look slow
Fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
43:20
This is extremely amusing
i cant believe he drank beer..
Lol why is this in a "lovecraftian cosmic horror" playlist?
Are they still active?
Nope
They were getting back together around 2020 - 2021 (even held audition contests to see who appeared on the album) then they disappeared after the sweet & sour sniffles that killed people started.
That's what you get for using vegas
Wow gr8 b e r z e r k e r !¥!
Hah! Met dude at a show in Ohio in like 2000-2001. Had no idea it was him. Just knew he was afilliated with the ban d
Had to been 2001 when they opened for Dying Fetus, that's when I discovered this band.
I remember the show was at NEwport Music Hall, Vader was there and Immolation and I can't remember who else, maybe dying fetus? I was 16 and baked out of my mind @@nowimhigh
As much as I like The Berzerker, this DVD just shows how incredibly inept these guys were as musicians and engineers. So many cringe moments. The nature of the music being heavily saturated with triggers and effects really allowed them to take some, shall we say 'liberties', when it came to musical ability and professionalism.
LUUUUUUKE! :)
12:44 lmao xd
who's idea were the masks???
Patrick R mine
Luke’s
nice hair
It’s an impossible speed because you’re down picking man, or at least that’s what it looks like
Chris Watts?
Val is fucking nuts lol
Which band was he in? What is his surname?
@@FlyingBarmitzvah666 Chris Valagao
Wow! Owned this way back before Luke said "Fuck the fans!" and started working for that fucking glam magazine. At least Sam kept going with The Senseless. And Matt ripped with Akercoke. Thank you Earache for this! Much nostalgia.
the latest senseless album is fucking great.
We all got bills bro
I wish this video had subtitles. cant understand half of what hes saying
Im not hating but I don’t call it music.. just blastbeats and not understandable lyrics😂
It's what you play when you're pissed off about something.
i love the berzerker but this documentary is unbearable to watch
Why?
I love watching it, the determination of Luke is brilliant!
@@craig8860 I think he means the editing in some parts are atrocious. Maybe errors or the video rendering
@@kiethveseyofficial I don't know I think the raw weird don't be cuts fit a band that sounds like the berserker just perfectly
You need to shave that hair ....
LOL
do it again
