Unbelievable Fishing Session: Catching a Rare Codling and Setting New PB's with Dave and Keith

  • Sea fishing trip to the West beach at Selsey by the Lifeboat Station with Dave, Andy and Keith.
    Objective to catch Sea Bream for Dave and Keith who in all their years fishing had never caught Sea Bream and both realised their ambitions with some decent fish brought to the beach.
    Mixed bag caught with us catching Bream, Gurnard, Wrasse and a surprise visit by a Codling which made us all smile right at the end of the session.
    We fished the tide in and one of the biggest this year, winds were light ESE and sunny with clear water.
    The tide fished consistently all the way in with numerous bites for all rods and we then started seeing weed at the top of the tides. Simple rigs used with small hooks baited with squid and fresh black lug kindly supplied by Dave.
    Small trophy won by Keith for the biggest Bream followed closely by Dave and Andy with the most fish caught.

      Sitting here at work looking at the rain thinking of the winter months on beaches ahead of me. Take care cheers Paul 👍🍺🍺🐠🎣

      Hi Ray thanks for that and surprised me to see the Codling and remember the crazy Dungeness days when I was a youngster. My wife keeps telling me the same and that I might trip over them. Tight lines and take care 👍🐠🐠🍺

    Lovely filming and a great session. Nothing wrong with being a geek . I have been one for many years, and am using a Google app to identify trees and plants. I completely agree about not killing fish even when they are big enough for the table. I recently caught a bass that was so perfect in shape and colour that I returned it live on. Stay safe and tight lines. Mike.

      Hi fellow, time is something we all need more of and understand that making videos particularly editing is mega time consuming and planning trip, driving etc. Hope the job is enjoyable and I only work three days a week now so can focus more on fishing trips and promised myself when younger if I had spare time would not squander it. To fish near the boats has to be done with caution. If you cast over the mooring chains obviously a problem. Good thing at Selsey is deep water close in and as long as you are in the tidal currents you are in with a chance. The main protagonist is weed and more weed. Look forward to seeing your next video take care cheers Paul 👍🐠🐠🐠🍺

    • @SeaFishingWithPaul
      @SeaFishingWithPaul  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Paul and great name 😃 thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Sub much appreciated 👍
      Wow a 16 year gap from fishing, but like me as work family etc. took centre stage and rarely had time to go. My family all grown up and I work flexi hours now so have time to do a bit more fishing and always promised myself when younger if I had more time would not squander it and focus more on fishing.
      Climping is a shallow water venue, good for bait on the right tides and when visiting I would drive down long lane past the fancy hotel till you reach the sea. Turn right into grassed car park with loos and small snack bar. Drive right to the end and you will see a small gated path. Follow that and it goes through some trees and then opens out onto track. Follow track for about quarter mile and will get you away from the crowds and onto snag free sandy ground.
      Summer months flatfish, Gurnard, bass and chance of a ray or two. Better at night. Winter months usual suspects whiting etc.car park generally is free but when busy there is someone collecting money.
      I wish you luck and welcome back to angling 👍🐠🐠🐠🐠👍🍺cheers and take care Paul
