agreed. They did fix a lot of issues with the 795 BLADE so you'll need to draw a distinction between the 795 /Aero/Aerolight (awful) and the 795 Aerolight RS (much better) and 795 Blade RS (massive step forward). The RS models are a lot better in terms of integration and carbon fabrication. The lack of rear triangle flex in the 795 Aerolight RS compared to the non RS model is noticeable when accelerating. The wheels don't try to break the chain stays LOL
Thank you for the honest user review. I almost pulled the trigger on the same model (newly used) with a Campy 11spd Super Record build. As I live just north of you and I travel, the fixed seat mast was a primary concern (My BikeBox Allen likely too small). I take solace from letting it go with you comments on the propriety fittings, as well as needing a LBS with some experience dealing with the frame (none where I live). I too have a few other steeds (Colnago’s & S-Works) in the stable so I am not short on having a ride, but the Look 695 or its younger sibling (795) evoke a passion that continues to tempt me...
Don't think you would have a problem sourcing any spares for the proprietary parts on this bike. Even if they show up as unavailable at stores and in their online dealer's catalogue, they can make them as a special order so I wouldn't worry about that. The lead time may be a couple weeks, or even months, and the price can be steep on some of them though. On the other hand, I can't think of any particular part on this bike that could break and would need replacing. Maybe the bolts if the threads get stripped. It's happened to me once on the seat clamp fastening bolt on my 795.
I do know the bearings can chew out the aluminium retaining face on the bottom bracket, but Hambini has developed a fix for that although not the original crank. The problem is due to the small ball size in the bearings making it prone to contamination, it can cause the bearing to spin, it is a pretty common problem. But this bike I don't ride in the rain limiting contamination and Hambini said just keep an eye on it. I think that is the biggest problem with this model and the zed BB design.
@@waynosfotos yes just service it regularly. The bearing seals are large and easy to remove so just flush out and regrease regularly. Bearing retaining compound also helps to prevent the bearings spinning
@@waynosfotos the revised manual actually allows up to 22N.m. tightning torque on the cradle bolt, part#7 labelled "Screw". So my 18N.m is more conservative than the manual allows for!
Have you tried a 28c in this frame? There's no way I could go back to a 25c but I'd love a Look 695 and can't find anywhere online that mentions max tyre size. Hope a Continental GP5000 28c would fit.P.S. Love your bike
Answer is; No, as i prefer skinner tyres, went from 25mm back to 23mm i don't like the feel of the bigger tyres. I ride veloflex tubulars. So they are perfectly round, unlike clinchers which can be different shapes depending on the rim. The key problem here is although manufacturers say.....23mmm..... 25mmm.....etc. it varys from brand to brand and they can be bigger or smaller, but mostly bigger. And also you need to consider the rim spacing of the hooks if riding clinchers. As this changes the profile of the tyre, i.e. gp4000s look egg shape on 17mm wide hook rims but more round on a 21mm wide hook rim. So unfortunately, the answer is, "it depends". If 28mm did fit, it would be tight. You can only try it and see.🤔
@@josvangastel8494 25C will fit comfortably, 28C is a no go as the rear brake arch won''t clear the tyre. The Aerolight model can probably accommodate 28C tyres if you don't buckle the wheel. Chain stay clearance at the BB is marginal
Hi Waynos Nice review...I too have a look 695. It’s a great bike. I also had an issue on the seat post. Carbon paste helped bed in the bolt and position. So use the carbon post on the carbon seatpost rail and also on the aluminum sliders. Should help
This is probably the best frame they made. 795 is not as well made

So would you recommend this bike 2022?

Seat post cradle bolt should be tighten to around 18N.m. After that I never had a problem with it coming loose
Thanks for the tip! Cheers

I’ve been looking to buy the 795 Blade RS slipping seatpost seems to be a common problem so I decided to pass
I think that is a different design, but pretty much all these aero seat posts are not ideal.

28mm won't fit the frame. even 25's might be too much with some tire brands.

Yeah did, and tightened it a bit more, all sorted. Have a vid uploading shortly, lovely day, lovely look ride.
