- Last year, I ran the Craft Beer Half Marathon. This year, I decided to take in the 5 Mile race because it looked like a potentially fast course…and a possible opportunity for a victory. See how I got along with the second day consecutive race in the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris!
Also stick around to see how a bunch of my friends fared in the half marathon!

Congratulations, Chas!
Thanks! It was a good day!
Loved running with you (while I could hold on haha). Definitely a brutal last mile. Congrats on the win!
Thanks Liv! Strong work put there!
Ran the half was a fun race !
Yep! Fun course. Except for that last mile!
You don't like you said in the beginning, yeah I've done a few 8ks, it's not a common distance... But trying to think about it, I don't remember doing any 5 milers, doesn't mean I haven't, I just don't remember. But yeah there's definitely more 8ks than 5 milers, and there's not that many 8 Ks.
KHAN! Admiral Kirk would be proud 😎.
For some reason, in my area, there seem to be a lot of 8ks. Maybe RDs think, “Anyone can put on a 5k, so let’s do an uncommon distance,” but they all do the same uncommon distance. 😂
Hey … you are really fast on the right view 😂probably 30s/mile … Metaspeed edge really works for you lol 🤣👏👏👏🇫🇷
Thanks! Yeah, the Edge is a winner. Literally. Twice now. 😂 Now I have to only wear it for races that I intend to win! 😂
Great race. I am waiting for the Edge Paris to be available in my size.. I use the Cielo X1 for long runs and it's around 24°C and strong sun already but no problem with the feet going hot. Interesting that in the Cielo X1 I can feel wind coming across the road going through the shoe but not wind coming from the front like in other shoes
Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of comments about people who rail against the weight of the CX1 or about how warm the upper must be. But these are all people who haven’t even run in the CX1 to begin with. 🤷♂️
@@thecaptainchas2820 Just back from a 10K Tempo. 26°C, no wind and strong sun. No problem with the Cielo X1.. My legs just fresh after running in them. Best for running uphill ❗In the army we had high leather boots with thick wool socks in much much hotter weather.. Nobody complained.
I seem to be the only one who likes the shoe laces. They hold so well. Never change pressure.. Yes need to do a double knots and pull hard on the second one or they will open but if you do it right they never open.
For a marathon would you go with the edge Paris or endorphin elite as that was your top shoe previously?
If I had to make that decision today, it would be the Endorphin Elite simply because it’s a known successful tool for that distance for me. That might change if I took the Edge Paris on more long run workouts.
Obviously you did great but do you think your form would be better without the camera? I ask because when I run over a 5K I carry a hydration flask and even with only 8 ounces I feel the weight throws me off just a tad.
Doing my first run the Takumi 10 today so I can compare it to my Edge Paris.
Maybe. I try to switch hands with it. And I usually only carry the camera, not the full selfie stick like some of the more prolific content creators. The camera by itself is surprisingly small and light. It has the same weight as maybe two energy gels.
If I were going for a PR mile on the track or a lifetime best 5k, I’d probably ditch the camera. And I didn’t carry it with me for my PR marathon at Chicago, but I’m getting more and more used to it.
And do tell me what you think about the TS10, especially compared to the Edge Paris.
