    Worked at Nellis Fire 96-2020. It was a great job. The hours were crazy, and happy now that I can spend time with my family. Stay safe and keep the needle moving forward is my advice.

    Its so much different than when i went in in 1976, for the better. Ii was a MTI as well and i hated seeing the discipline taught in Basic Training get lost in Tech School. Students and Instructors use first names and no respect for rank. I the fire service it was lost faster because of having civilian FF. I think military FF should rank over them, a SSgt who was a station chief overseas is on the nozzle and a GS-5 supervises them. Thats the reason i crossed trained.

      Hi! Congratulations on your daughter joining!! If I remember correctly, there are different weights but they range from 150-200lbs I believe. They aren’t hard at all. And for workouts, I’d just recommend to start strength training and cardio. But more so focus on strength training!

      I’ll be honest military fire fighting is much much different than civilian fire. If you want to become a fire fighter I’d recommend going civilian. But if you want to be in the military, this job is awesome! Personally, I’m not extremely passionate about fire fighting but compared to what else I could be doing in the Air Force, this job trumps most other jobs in my opinion!

    I’m 31 and want to be a career firefighter I have a 6 week EMT course in June. I come from a family of military officers but know for ff you can only go enlisted. Does the pay seem enough for you to vacation etc? I have a bachelors degree but know the only difference that makes if I enlist is I go in as an e3. But I’m committed to being a career ff. Would you recommend at my age doing this enlisted route or just applying to my local fire departments? I also am entertaining the idea of being a civilian DoD firefighter so that I can still travel and be around the military bases with a retirement. Would love your honest opinion from what you have seen and heard!

    • @kirakphillips462
      @kirakphillips462  3 місяці тому

      I think if you want to BE a firefighter, go civilian. If you want the benefits of the military like travel, insurance, school and things like that, give it a go. I think if you want to truly be a firefighter, i think the military isn't the way to go just because there are so many external factors that come into play. In short, in the military, you're a military member first, then firefighter second.

      Yeah it’s basically a small tunnel/tube you have to wiggle your way through. Only sketch part was if you pulled out your regulator, it could get suctioned to the connection port and you can’t breathe. The key is to pretend you’re a worm lol

    • @brianbaez6044

      As a person who’s mildly claustrophobic & willing to overcome that would you say it’s super intense or for you wasnt to bad , I can be in small spaces as long as I can move & don’t get stuck 🤣
