Fern I just have to tell you your content has been so good and I'm at the point I feel like I'm sitting down with a friend. Thank you for sharing so much and stay well
Amphioxus is so easy. I have done both stem cuttings AND leaf cuttings. I have found that they do better(for me) outside in the humid air. (FL) I had wanted one of these and just by chance I found mine in a local shop. Allmost everybody online said don't touch it, leave it alone under a dome. Once it outgrew the dome I decided to propagate it. Who knew something that you weren't supposed to touch OR mess with would be so easy to propagate. I told my husband that she is poisonous so he had better behave. I know you will do well with all your new babies 🌼🌼🌼
Ahh great to know, thanks for sharing! And I'm cracking up about your husband hahah 😆 gotta keep em in line somehow
I love the Amphioxus! Mine has been doing really well and getting so big. She’s constantly blooming too! I’d definitely recommend higher humidity and not letting the soil get dry :) If you like the funky Begonia you should try a Melanobullata! If you can get one from Steve’s Leaves they are a good price!
Thanks so much for the tips! I appreciate that. I wish Steve's Leaves shipped to Canada - they always seem to have cool plants :)
I got Mellanobullata they are hardy i bougth mine at peace love and happines for 40 dollar and they are so hardy and fast grow
I truly love the excitement of delving into a new genus of plants. It's a bit like rediscovering your love for plants all over again. I love this journey for you. ❤
So true ☺️☺️
Now that I have a big terrarium I LOVE begonias! Have collected quite a few in the past 6 months and they're so cool 😍😍 My amphioxus grows great in the bottom of the terrarium, but before when I had a few cuttings in a cloche they instantly died - they're tricky to grow. But I'm sure you'll rock it! Good luck and can't wait to see updates 🙌🏻
That mystery plant looks a lot like a Marcgravia species, which would explain why it was a little angy. They're pretty sensitive terrarium plants that only do well with good light and high humidity. Hopefully you can get an exact ID on what it is though!
Definitely a Marcgravia!
I hail from Montana, have 3 begonias- a Rex, maculata, and a cane begonia resembling the taiwania, more numerous spots and they are oblong. None of them are in terrariums, the maculata tolerates fully drying out better than the rest. Humidity is around 40-60%. I have found them easy to care for, almost prolific growers. My only problem was the angel wing cane begonia had the seed starting cloth suffocating it, and one of the plants roots dried out slightly. The other 2 plants are fine, and I am hoping the affected one bounces back from its droop. My advice is to enjoy them :)
I just got back from vacation and I have 6 new videos to catch up on. Love that for me!
eeeep enjoy!! thank you for watching them 😃
I also got a Begonia Amphioxus and cannot wait to grow mine. I’m so excited you got your hands on one as well and pray for her safe rooting journey
Very cute begonias,lucky girl
💚🌱🌵🪴
Wow, 10 months later and your Amphioxus looks amazing! Nice job Fern. It would be awesome to do a “where are they now” update video 😊🌿💚
It’s on my list! Just going to take longer to make, but I will get to it 😃
I love that you always open boxes with knives lol
I’m so glad you’re getting into begonias. They’re my favorite.
I have only 3 Begonias, Maculata, Amphioxus and Listada.
They are in an aroid mix with added pieces of sphagnum moss and they seem quite happy. I had the Amphioxus in a dome (with a bit of air circulation) because she was small and i found her in a hardware store , overwatered. Now she lives in my household humidity (30 to 50%) ,she is in bright /medium light and is putting out leaves without a break. I actually separated a baby and i kept under the dome for a lot longer and i didn't see a big diference between the two.
Listada also looks great ,she is a bit velvety, soft and has a neon stripe that gives her a cat eye look.
Next on my list is the Melanobullata , she looks toxic , spikey and kind of hairy :)
The one looks like marcgravia-rectiflora or maybe marcgravia-sp-surinam and the coloring is how it’s supposed to look.
Love the amphioxus. I have mine in a simple jar terrarium and she loves it in there. Putting out leaves one after another quick.
I recently got a dracopelta and they’re doing surprisingly well! I have them in a closed cloche in a gritty akedama mix (apparently begonia like a more acidic substrate?) - the only thing I would warn against for Draco is getting the leaves wet, they melt super easily.
I just received the shirt and sweater I ordered from you and I’m in LOVE🖤
Omg yayyyyy 😍🥺 thank you sooo much for ordering!
FERN!!! I just had a Silver Sword moment!! The Philodendron Squamiferum has been my absolute #1 wishlist plant and I’ve been impatiently waiting for the rumors to be true about Lowe’s carrying it. I did not expect this at all! I expected a 6inch pot with five leaves maybe.. SHES IN A 1.7 GAL POT WITH SIX VINES (for 49.98)
Hi. I hope this isn’t a creepy comment, but what state do you live in? I’ve been wanting one as well and The lowes near me have never been good. I think it might be because of where i live.
How exciting to see those unique begonias. I currently have 4 different types of begonias and can say that they are easy to care for. Low light and wait for the leaves to start drooping before watering them. Enjoy!!!
What a super fun package to unbox 🥹😍 All of the begonias are amazing 🪴
Yay! Love the begonias, super cool. So happy you got your wishlist plant! Can’t wait to see how he grows :)
Begonias are my absolute favorite so I was excited to see this! Once you have them set up in a terrarium they are super easy and don't need a whole lot of upkeep. My most recent terrarium is covered in damp sphagnum moss at the bottom and I'm just resting the plants on top in their individual cups until I'm ready to fully transfer them, they seem to love it. Good luck on your new plants :)
Ohh so cute 🥰 congrats on getting the wishlist one! I only have one - begonia norah bedson growing like a beast in just regular household conditions. It has really cool pattern and little fuzzies along the stem and edges of the leaves 🌱💚
Super excited to check out this shop🥰
My amphioxis is an easy grower constantly blooming (all winter too). She does have a very spreading growth habit and I am trying to contain her on a trellis. I used my aroid mix and let her get about half dry in a shallow plastic pot. I left her in her nursery pot as long as I could but she appreciated the up pot for sure. Also she likes some bright direct sun like many outdoor begonia do. That is my #1 tip if any begonia declining: up the light. Amphioxis is not a low light plant in my experience. Humidity average 40-60%. Not as finicky as ppl say. The spots do fade with age unfortunately. Love ya fern!
Beautiful begonias 🌿Congratulations on your wishlist plant 😀
omg the begonia dracopelta !!! looks like tiny pomegranate seeds all over the leaves. Love it.
Can't wait for an update for these begonias 😍
The Begonia amphioxus from borneo🤤
Like the cuprea👽
Begonia are so cool. They are like little alien plants😂 I definitely want to do an entire terrarium full of them.
Right!! Totally agree - they are otherworldly :)
Oh my gosh I have an amphioxus too =) it bloomed for me and it's just so pretty
Look up begonia melanobulotta/ferox. If you like the textured leafed begonias or plants that look Jurassic then I think you’ll really like this one. I’d love to hear what you think!
ahh I LOVE those ones! wishlist for sure. (apparently my wishlist is ever growing lol)
That Draco is seriously everything 😮💨
Sorta looks like a Marcgravia rectiflora to me! But am not completely sure :-)
Lol that wishlist plant looks like Madam Mim when she's sick 😂
hi fern I would love to watch an upgraded cactus tour. love the video, hope they will live their best lives :)
Thanks for the suggestion!! I hope so too - some of them are outside for the summer and I can’t wait to see how much they grow :)
AHHH!!! Every time I see you upload a video-CLICK IT AND WATCH IT! Always and Forever! Seriously LOVE YOUR CONTENT !!!
P.S. I repotted my Large Silver Sword yesterday and the strong winds knocked her to the ground and SNAPPED HER RIGHT AT THE BASE! So I had to chop her all up…lol.
Amphioxus was my 1st and still only begonia. Have mine in a cloche and its grown like crazy. I've even had to repot it 2 time to Suite the cloche and it's not bothered at all. Also, super easy to propogate a cutting straight in the substrate! So surprised how easy it is!
Ahhh so great to hear! I really hope mine takes off 😍
so excited!!!!
Thanks for watching 💚💚💚
I got my Amphyoxus by a cutting and it rooted super fast! Pretty sure you won't have any problems :)
I've avoided begonias so far because they would pretty much have to live in ambient room conditions, and humidity is so low here in Chicago in the winter. But some of them are so cool!
Yay!! Thank you for this new supplier contact. So challenging to get anything interstellar in Canada.
Very low inventory selection in her online shop atm… but that IS a positive for her business (things are selling).
I am so stoked you got an amphioxus - envious, too ;-). Enjoy playing with your tuning fork, buzz master!
“Interstellar”?? Interesting.
Gotta love Spellcheck
You're welcome!! Have to keep an eye on her shop. Thanks so much for watching ☺️
I have a very unhappy Amphioxus cutting right now I got a few weeks ago! DEFINITELY keep the humidity high! The lady who I got it from says she even roots them in little plastic baggies in some perlite. Mine is in a ziploc baggie in some moss. I think I let it dry out too much and its dropped some leaves, turned yellow, and the leaves are crispy. So definitely keep it moist and near some light (mine are about 1.5' from my grow light. Good luck, they are so freaking cool.
I literally jus bought a begonia amphioxus yesterday 😍😍😍 I'm 10 times more excited about it now that u have one lol need all the info for this one Def murdered a begonia biak before lol
Marcgravia is the creeping vine plant
They're from Quebec, thats so cool !
Yes!! ☺️
Oooooh I love the super lumpy green & red one 😍 I wonder what it’s called??
The one you weren’t sure on looks like marcgravia I’m sure someone’s ID’d it / you’ve found out by now but if not!
The Amphioxus is actually the only begonia I have at the moment!! It's been doing really well so far!! I did have the maculata before, but it was tiny and I found I don't like it when it's small, so when it fell off my shelf one day I just used that excuse to trash it haha. Might get a big one some day, but I think I might get another begonia instead. I will stick to cane begonias tho. I had a Begonia Black Fang before and I found out that Rex begonias are just don't seem to like me. Really sad tho, cuz the Black fang is one of my begonia faves.
Bummer it looks like that shoppe has since closed. Even at plant fest’s I have so much trouble finding rarer begonias. Everyone just seems to have the common maculata.
It is so funny. you can buy begonia amphioxus for like 5 cad here in germany and have a small plant (i can send you a pic of mine if you want). although i find it hard to keep it alive, probably because its also a terrarium begonia. so happy for you, you got all this amazing ones, i love them as well!
So crazy how much the accessibility of plants differ from place to place! I hope I have good luck growing mine. Thanks so much for watching ☺️
Cooooollll 😻😻😻
Eeeeeep!
YAY you!!!
hi fern❤
👁️ That Dracopelta... 🫣🤤💚
That one Strange plant looks like a marcgravia of some sort
Check out the Begonia Breakdance if they have it in their store, it’s my favourite. I’ve been looking for one for ages but can’t find one in Australia :((
oh wow just looked it up - they are gorgeous!!
Do I like Begonia: no. Am I watching this vid anyway: yup absolutely 😄
I appreciate you!!
Same here. Not a begonia lover at all but I love me some wildfern videos. So I'm here lol
hii fern would you ever consider doing a tattoo tour maybe on your vlog channel
Yes I would!
I am not even lying i was just thinking that what if fern gets another wishlist plant👀
hahaha omg! you were sensing it 😂
That unidentified lil cutie looks kind of like marcgravia or a similar terrarium shingler? Not sure though!
💓💓💓💓

💚💚💚
I love the ones that look like a toads back 😂😂

The unknown one looks like a marcgravia type?
Hello beatiful Fern do they ship to Usa :)
I’ll admire yours from afar but I don’t think I’ll ever get my own haha
Fair enough hahah 😃
💚🍀
💚💚💚
The dracopelta looks like it has cold sores all over it
Marcgravia
Just went to look at buying one & a $20 plant has $43.26 shipping, yikes!
Yeah shipping is wild these days - especially for anything fast. I just paid $60 to send a plant out this morning 💀
@@wildfern Yeah, it's like that for all small businesses, we're so used to amazon's free shipping that we get sticker shock elsewhere.
The first little one you said had to go in a box? What type of box? How did you know. The dracopelta and ferox are top on my list! I don’t have a terrarium, will a greenhouse work?
