How to Replace Valve Cover 2012-2018 Nissan Altima (2.5L)

This video shows you how to install a new valve cover gasket in your 2012-2018 Nissan Altima (2.5L). Under the valve cover, you have camshafts and the valvetrain spinning and flinging oil everywhere. A valve cover has to have a gasket to stop some of that oil from leaking out the seam. When you do see oil around your valve cover, you know it’s time to replace the gasket.
This repair was done on a 2016 Nissan Altima Base 2.5L Sedan 4-Door FWD Automatic and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

Thank you for the video. I just finished mine and that was my first time doing it. Your video was spot on. The only problem I had was my motor moved quite a bit after I took the bolts out because I’m on a hill where I was working and it was very difficult getting it lined back up, but you know couple hours and determination. It’s all put back together and it runs great so thank you very much for the video.

Great detail in this video! Had my oil changed on my 2015 Altima and they said there is a small leak in the valve cover. Dealership wants to charge me $1300 to replace the valve cover and the ignition coils. Of course I said no. It can wait for now. But now I know that I can do this myself and say a grand! 152k miles on this car and so far no major issues other than this

When you "jacked" up the engine, you mentioned one of the corners of the oil pan. It would have been helpful to have a video showing the jack position from under the car. Also, what is the purpose of the gasket maker? Why is it only applied to the corners? Other than these questions, this was a very nicely detailed video. I'm looking forward to replacing my valve cover.
