Thank you so much! I followed this video to get the valve cover off to replace some worn roller rockers that was causing ticking noises. i couldn't have done it without this video, thanks!
This video was a huge help for removing the valve cover to get to rocker arms that have failed. Really great detail in disassembling everything to get the the valve cover. Taking the inner fender off was well worth the extra 10 mins of work. There is no way to do it without access through the wheel well. Anyone doing this will end up hating the wiring harness, transmission dipstick, and various other things you will have to fight with every step of the way. When she says “you name it, it’s in the way,” she wasn’t lying. Good luck to anyone going in this deep in their engine. Thanks again for the great video.
In the hour and 17 minutes +, I realized 2 things: 1) she is calm and knows what she's doing, and although a time consuming job, it is a do-able, and 2) if my covers start to leak, I'm putting in a hemi, it's easier.
Awesome video! If your Jeep has 100K or more miles, my recommendation is to replace the intake manifold gaskets, spark plugs, injectors, and any ticking valve components. It's a royal pain to tear into this engine. It's easier to drop the transmission and replace the clutch than do this job. However, once you do it, the next 3 or 4 times is so much easier and quicker. Learn to work on your Jeep or it will nickel and dime you to death. My 2012 has just over 225K and it's still going strong. Just watch out for those trees that jump out in front of you :)
I'm getting ready to do this job on my jeep and I can't get over how patient and calm this mechanic is. If I were in this video it would be full of edits and/or bleeped curses.

Doing this job now. I just removed the battery box instead of the fender walls for all the room I needed. I dont have the means to jack up my jeep right now. That PCV is a nightmare lol. I bought a tiny ratcheting wrench with a T-25 bit on it...still not much fun getting that sucker out. The main reason I am here you finally inadvertently showed while removing the valve cover 30:46...those studs. They have an X shaped bracket on the top...right about where the RTV will go...I had no idea if there were alignment studs or something I had to remove. Phew...always pays to stop what you are doing, grab a Coke, and find out before proceeding. Thank you!
So let me start by saying fantastic job! I tend to be an ocd individual as well as a perfectionist, which can be very time consuming and exhausting, but bc of that is why i want to say thank you so very much as YOUR video is the only one I've found that demonstrates how to install the camshaft sensor gasket!!! That was driving me insane trying to figure out why it would not fit and if I had a faulty part potentially - thanks a million!!! 🎉
She has my vote. Great video and description. The camera work was good too. This has mad3 me much more comfortable tackling this job. Thank you very much.
06 Jeep was still a TJ and was a different engine 4.0/2.4 and the JK from 07-11 also was a different engine (3.8) the 3.6l penestar was only offered 2012-2018 in the JK
i’m in the middle of this job and that bit about the pcv sensor i think just saved me. i’ve got everything out but the cover won’t come off. i bet that’s why. thanks! i took the battery tray out. hoping i won’t need to take the fender liner too.
Fantastic video! I can tell a lot of effort went into lighting and editing. Thank you! I've only gone so far as to do the plugs and I'll say there was a lot more blood and cussing! The Jeep is currently is at the dealer getting a new valve cover gasket because it's covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty. Thank God I had the foresight to shell out the cash for that warranty! But I have a feeling I'm gonna be in there some day to tackle the ticking. Thanks again for such an awesome video!
Thank you for this video!!! I have a 2015 Town and Country that needed new valve cover gaskets. Your video was awesome and very easy to follow and repeat. Thanks a lot!
My biggest suggestion to anyone replacing there “valve cover gaskets” buy a new set of ROCKER ARMS and the hold down BOLTS that hold the cam holders down because those will twist of and break. But doing all this work you should replace those things because eventually for this size motor you will have the famous “jeep tick” and you may as well knock out 2 birds with one stone. And if you really want to prevent the next issue, buy the METAL oil filter housing because eventually youll have a coolant leak from that. Your welcome😁
I'll be doing this soon to fix "the 3.6 tick". Seems like it might be easier to remove the battery and battery tray rather than wheel, fender inserts and flares? Thoughts
Steve King I agree I would take out the battery tray. The TIPM module does not need to be unplugged. You can just hang it on top of the fender out of the way. Really a pain either way. Checked my cam followers at 212,000 km (131,000 miles) and they are fine -- very tiny amount of play. So I am just leaving them be and hoping I get another 4 years out of the motor.
Very helpful video for installing valve cover gaskets on 2014 Ram 1500 3.6l. When changing the gasket for the cam sensors on the end of the valve covers, double-checking to make sure gaskets are seated properly, and torquing to spec, the sensors are not completely flush to the valve cover, leaving a very small opening where blue gasket can be seen. Using Fel Pro VS 50805 gasket set. Should sensors be flush and no part of gasket visible?
Looks like Chrysler made this Jeep to only be serviced by the dealer. And I was thinking of buying one... No thanks! Congrats to this lady. Patience is a virtue.
I did this same job because of the rocker follower problems these Pentastars tend to have. I replaced every rocker follower and to be honest, the valve cover was the most difficult part of it. I fixed the ticking problem, but have a little oil seepage now because I probably damaged the new gasket trying to get the dadgum valve cover to seat properly. I'm debating paying a mechanic to redo the valve cover. This has to be at least a $200 job just for the passenger valve cover. The driver's side is much easier only requiring removing the intake plenum to get to it.
Where did you get the placement seal for the PCV valve? I’ve searched online and contacted a local dealer but they said I have to buy a whole new PCV valve which is way more than what the seal itself should cost.
Professional here. I'm here for the right valve cover at 30:00. On the upswing from an oil pump replacement, along with timing components. I can tell you, the right valve cover is what will give you the most trouble. Chrysler engineers are nasty. Good lord.
I need to change the driver side gasket as I have only a leak on that side (last spark plug was wet w oil). Do I need to drain anything to do that one ? Thanks !
Once you've removed the fender bolts and round trim buttons at ground level with the wheel off, the whole fender can be lifted off the flat trim tabs and then they can be removed with pliers much more easily and put back on the fender. They're in a slot just for this and much less chance of breaking them. Can do it this way in 3 minutes once the tire is off.
it's a great video !!!! I know how I can do it myself but I have a question. Could you tell me where I can find the gaskets installed spark plugs from the valve cover, please? Any information or orientation will help me a lot. I appreciate your support
Great video!. Not sure if i missed the part number for the value cover kit that includes all the gaskets, seal, and sensor gaskets for both sides. Can someone point me to the part number kit she was using. I have a 2012 JKU sport. Thanks
Great video! helped a lot I didn’t have fun doin this job but was able to get it done in about 3-4 hours after completing I have a misfire on cylinder# 1 that I can’t get rid of. Any throughts. Compression is good spark is good new injector saw pulsing on a noid light 😢
Do the spark plug chamber seals need to be pushed all the way down? Looking at the originals they don't seem to be. But I did have some oil leak inside 2 spark plugs chamber

Thanks so much for doing this video. In Australia we have very poor support for Jeep as most mechanics avoid servicing them here, stating they are too hard to fix. I had to attempt to remove the LH rocker cover as we are getting a cam sensor error intermittently after the local Jeep dealer had replaced some rocker arms on that side. They had three attempts and have no idea how to fix it. Got a far as the pcv breather and couldn’t figure out how to remove it. Now I know how to do it! Do you tighten the hydraulic valley bolts whilst you are there?
Im looking for this gasket set she used. It seems to have all the gaskets needed on the RH valve cover. can you provide us with a part number and where. you got it? Good video and definitely a well mannered mechanic!
No need get take the fender off to get that last 8mm on the valve cover. I used an 8mm swivel with 1/4in drive a long extension and slid it down in the back between the battery and battery box. Theres a small opening between the box and the firewall where you can get just the right angle to get it off. Way easier than removing all that plastic for one bolt.
Fiat/Stellantis takes plastic to a new level. What’s with Jeep and the yellow marks ? Same on my vehicle. Just about the same amount of work to change your spark plugs.
I always clean my engine bay to make it most pleasant as possible for tech working on my vehicles. Before doing any work, buy a push pin kit, they always dry out and shatter.
Greatly appreciated the video for the easy side but you didn't show the video on how to get to the driver side valve cover gasket I'm doing both this weekend and really would have liked to have seen the other side done also not just one side
Why would you take the inner fender well and outer fender off and all that extra crap out. when I found it easier to remove the battery box/fuse box. I didn’t wanna remove my built in work bench
Great, video, awesome performance from the Lady, very patient and professional, I wish she or you guys can do a similar video on this horrible common problem on the Wrangler, must hate THICKING NOICE😢😢😭😭 wish I have now... Definitely a lot more calm than me trying to get that stupid torx screw off the back of the cover 😭
Four minutes into it I became very upset about draining the coolant :(

Wow, what a PITA. The calmest tech ever. Great sense of humor. I would have burnt it to the ground 30 min in.

Great video, and what a pain to change the dang gasket.
Spray wd40 on red safety clips for injectors to help free it up. Any clips on this motor hit it with lubricant to ease removal.
Great video! All the detail is amazing. Thank you.
Holy Cow! Not looking forward to this. Guess I better go ahead and rebuild the entire top end while its apart.
Great video from A1 as usual.
What a great job. I learned so much but what I learned most was have somebody else do it!
Yeah I’m sure I was probably overcharged at $1000 but this would have been very hard and a pain. She’s great!!
Great work, but what the driver side valve cover?
I'm impressed you did that without removing the battery tray, but I'd think it would save a little headache if you did.

its not that difficult if you wrench here and there.
I'm doing it in a driveway, but I am a mechanic anyways so this isn't unusual. I'm only here to verify if that PCV valve was in fact a PCV valve 😅

Greatly appreciated the video for the easy side but you didn't show the video on how to get to the driver side valve cover gasket I'm doing both this weekend and really would have liked to have seen the other side done also not just one side

What is the average cost for the valve cover gasket replacements?
I thought it’d be a little easier , I’d rather someone else tackle this.
I just paid $1K but probably overcharged at Jeep dealership.
This is only one side the other side you have remove more things as well. While you are at it replace spark plugs .
Lucky for me my battery is on other side because I am from south Africa where everything is on the right(correct) side.
what about driver side?
shes good
Maybe I missed something but seems only one side was done, the easy side ?
What about the drivers side?

Had to do this yesterday and it was very time consuming 💀
I'd love the meet the SOB engineer that designed the passenger valve cover 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Yes he/she should be water boarded
the valve cover bolts aren't meant to stay in place. pull them all the way out
And that's the easy side!
