The Cocteau Twins have always been ahead of their time. Elizabeth Fraser's voice is so angelic and beautiful. It's amazing how she sings all her own background vocals and composes / layers them all together so beautifully - absolutely amazing..!! 🖖 🤓 👌

Darkwave and Ethereal Wave have crossover with other sub genes such as Post Punk, Gothic Rock, Shoegazer, Folk, and Cold Wave. Some other bands besides Cocteau Twins are Autumn's Grey Solace, Love Spirals Downwards, Tearwave, Ballet School, and Saigon Blue Rain, Tamaryn
Liz's voice is like a bridge between the celestial/heavenly and earthly realms. And somehow when put to Robin and Simon's instrumentals, magic happened. I don't think anyone or anything will ever replicate what they did.
The flow of this song is amazing! I almost feel the freedom a bird must feel with wings stretched soaring through the sky, dipping slightly then back up as the air current takes you. Magical.
My senses overwhelmed by the beauty of her voice, the subtle movements of her lips, her facial expressions, her body, the musical rhythm and incredible range of vocal perfection. How can a man listen to and watch this without shedding some tears? Impossible for me. I have loved her since I first heard her voice.
It's nice how the reel to reel gets equal screen time. I saw them in 86 or so at the town and country and Robin used to wind it on to get to the encores. Good old analog days!
I played the living hell out of this album, Blue Bell Knoll, back in the day. To this day my favorite CT album by a mile. Elizabeth, you are a treasure!
Elizabeth Fraser is an incredible artist and The Cocteau Twins just made incredible ethereal beautiful music that just touches me in a way that most music just doesnt. And every album has a different and fresh sound, and it hard to even pick a favourite track as the band consistently made great music.
One of my fave groups of my youth in the 80s and 90s...the Bristol collective the Wild Bunch was full of talented and innovated youths ( Tricky, Massive Attack, Cocteu Twins) Love'em all....this track used to bring me to tears.
The lyrics are indecipherable when listening, but this song moves me to tears in a way thats hard to even explain- totally dreamlike and magical. We all understand the feeling even without knowing the words. So lovely.
Beautiful song. Elizabeth sounds like a mix between a steady sheet of rain, a warbling bird, a buzzsaw on a starry night, and a dew-dripped field of mixed flowers. 4AD is my favorite label of all time.
Years ago a friend of mine told me " if you choose to believe in them, we can never hear angels when they sing. It is beyond our range or beyond human articulation, but Liz and her voice is our greatest gift in this respect."
I always mention her as one of my own influences, glad I grew up with this and this mortal coil. Her way of singing is unique. So distinctly hers. Love her

Oh yeah. It’s still an amazing song!
This is the most amazing voice I've heard in my life. This is so far out of the league of anything, it's really unbelievable.
I agree, its what separates them from other dream pop bands. Which I love but they do not have a technical beauty of an instrument like she does
Have you listened to Shakespeare's Sister, Stay?
Vocal acrobatics - WOW !!!!!
It's the layering too. What's better than the best vocalist ever? 4 or 5 layers of the best vocalist ever.
And it's ALWAYS Scottish women... they always have incredible voices.

'It's wrong to make fun of me'
She fell down into this mess
(Even then they don't give)
(Try, try to fall)
She fell down and he's so sick of it all
And of me
This part not out of her saw fit to drop
Whispers might prove it all
(You're just closer to me when you fall, but you broke)
This would prove it all
(You just closer to me, but you broke)
This would prove it all
Sleep now
You susur, try to talk
Reach out for that hand
Reach out for that hand
(And even they don't give any more)
(Try, try to fall)
Even then they don't give
(Try, try to fall)
You just closer to me at the fall
But you don't want, want me hand
You're just closer to me
But you don't want, want my hand
Their music is truly timeless. It's anchored to some of the best times of my life... Especially cozy naps shared with my best gal friend at the time. It's a link between her and I.
'Blue Bell Knoll' and 'Heaven or Las Vegas' will be repressed on heavyweight vinyl for 14th July.
Repression!
my turntable awaits!!!!!
***** - lucky you! I only fell in love with Cocteau Twins during the CD era.
Snagged them both last summer!
Any chance of another pressing of Treasure?
+4AD Forever a treasure.
Thank you for the Gap in Chicago for introducing me to this.... i'll never forget being introduced to the most angelic music ive ever heard.... i bow down
The Cocteau Twins have always been ahead of their time. Elizabeth Fraser's voice is so angelic and beautiful. It's amazing how she sings all her own background vocals and composes / layers them all together so beautifully - absolutely amazing..!! 🖖 🤓 👌
when the bass changes at 0:35 .... shivers!
Just reading through some of the comments alone puts tears in my eyes, but words have yet to be invented to describe how totally beautiful this is, the word awesome just isn't powerful enough.
+Melvyn Gingell Yes, The style is called Ethereal Wave it is a subgenre of Darkwave. Elizabeth Fraser may have invented some words you could use.
@@persiusshelly6635 oh my gosh!

@@persiusshelly6635 oh my what a list - what a crock.. ;) haha
listening to a playlist and some tracks just stop you ... Carolyn's Fingers is now on endless repeat for this afternoon
Magical.
My favorite song of them. Loved the swarming guitars and Elizabeth vocal.
Such an honest performance, angelic and yet raw at the same time. Only the Cocteau Twins could pull this sound off.
It's nice how the reel to reel gets equal screen time. I saw them in 86 or so at the town and country and Robin used to wind it on to get to the encores. Good old analog days!
A voice of unequalled beauty. Sends shivers down my spine each and every time I hear it.
Just love this cd the first one I bought all those years ago and still play the full volume❤😊
I played the living hell out of this album, Blue Bell Knoll, back in the day. To this day my favorite CT album by a mile. Elizabeth, you are a treasure!
Her voice is the most beautiful sound in the world. It rescues me.
My actual favorite song of all time. This song has led me through love and loss in equal measure. Will still be amazing in the year 3000.
Beautifully melodic. Cocteau Twins always hit the spot. Their music gets me through my day
The lyrics are indecipherable when listening, but this song moves me to tears in a way thats hard to even explain- totally dreamlike and magical.

This is one of the most poignant responses to this song I've ever read. You're so very correct.
It wasn't mainstream back then but neither was I. Thank you Couteau Twins.
Fantastic
This song reminds me of my Mom.. So pure, joyful... Free spirit. I miss her so much...
I used to listen to this on my headphones on the subways of NY and drift off to Castles in Ireland and sea coast battles ,,, Love, LOVE LOVE this cut.
That is adventure to 4ad culture, that is adventure to indie , you are welcome to the most beatifull sounds ever you known
This gem appeared by chance in my sad morning....and filled it with light.
THANKYOU.
Their music is so relaxing to listen to and her voice is so angelic and soothing.
This is one of the most beautifully written (and sung) songs of all time. Thank you.
This literally made me cry, her voice is an instrument as it should be. Brava Bella, always
absolutely gorgeous.
I always mention her as one of my own influences, glad I grew up with this and this mortal coil. Her way of singing is unique. So distinctly hers. Love her
I have listened to this song at least a thousand times, I am not exaggerating, for 33 years, 31 times a year, they already do a thousand times. I think it's the song I've heard the most in my life, and I hope to hear it a thousand more times.
