It would cost more than we have to give in order to do that. In a literal sense, our border is far too vast. From a societal standpoint, by building such a defense, we are also creating a prison for ourselves. Neither is a good use of resources. We still have existing monitoring that is set up to detect ICBMs and the like. Gearing up for war only makes a war more likely.

Rather than deploying forces overseas, let us mobilize some of our forces into Arctic region.
Inrerested international parties may have noticed our dormant regions and sparse population. We cannot blame them. If we leave our doors open, we will get unexpected visitors.

I think Major (retired) Barbara Krasij-Maisonneuve was correct in her statement. Ending the DEI recruitment quotas would be a step in the right direction. As Canada does need Warriors in the CAF. Lowering the standards as well will ensure a higher recruitment stat. It is nice to have standards during peace time, those standards get in the way during times of global instability when strength is needed.

Getting more troops in is the easy part. Training them up to standard before any major conflict ensues between all parties currently at odds well...there in lays the rub.
War has changed drastically. Engagement at greater
distances, faster paced, more emphasis on urban conflict, tunnel fighting, artillery, drones and atonomus vehicles...well, the laundry list is big and plenty of info one can research on their own time.
Canadian armed forces still hold some respect around the world, however underfunded and lacking equipment to meet the standards of todays battlefield closing in.

Canada provides specialized military training to US and other counties' personnel. For example, Canada's Joint Task Force is considered a world-class and elite tactical force. Canada also has and trains some of the most deadly snipers on the planet.
While Canada may not flaunt its military capabilities like some countries do, those capabilities are certainly evident. One of the main reasons that the US wants more contributions from Canada is because they value Canada as a key partner in defense of North America. And because Canada is the only country that successfully overtook their White House. Better to be friends than enemies.

@todddonly2787 Canada had provided military training to countries in the Asian Pacific in the past, but its current trainee partnerships include Ukraine, Tunisia, Tanzania, Ghana, Jamaica, Bahamas, and Belize.
Canada also routinely participates in joint training with NATO allied countries. That said, Canada's military has a strong presence globally and a reputation for being fierce. They're the reason why the Geneva Conventions were written, after all.

Tbh it sounds like she doesn't disagree with "women shouldn't be in combat". Because her answer is about the types of positions that are needed. She's implying there are many important positions that women can fill (other than active combat situations). Her answer is basically admitting the battlefield is not a place for women.
"Women have a role in the army but more like behind a computer than behind a rifle or shotgun." Is what it sounds like.

To that end with the world becoming as dangerous as it is I really don't see us working things out all by our little 'ol selves. More like Canada and the US become one.
