Pricing on these issues can really vary. The shop where you get the work done and the parts that you need all play such big roll. Right now the biggest changes in pricing that we are seeing is in the parts. Over the last 3 years we have seen price increases ranging from 50% to 150% Kurt
Hi Kurt - thanks for another video tutorial. Look forward to Part 2. QUESTION: since the car has sat for 10 years, would you recommend draining the old gasoline completely, before filling the tank and adding additives? I am planning to restart my 83 SC, which sat for past 2.5 years. Would appreciate your advice. Thanks!
The fuel in this car had been treated with stabilizer and did not give me any issues. The car had also been stored correctly in that the owner added stabilizer and then ran the car for a while to make sure that it was thought the carburetors, then topped of the tank. This car sat for about 4 years it was just 10 years since we had seen the car. At this point I advised the owner to just add fresh gas to the car. Kurt
Thanks for clarifying Kurt. I will err on the cautious side and try to drain tank, replace fuel filter, and turn engine by hand via fanbelt a few times. Any other precautions you would suggest Kurt? Thanks!
Hi Kurt, When doing an oil change and to get old oil out of the oil lines can i run motor to operating temp to open the thermo stat and then drain oil.
Kurt, Your videos are very instructive. What are the correct torque settings for 1987 930 valve covers and intake manifold ? I cannot find them in the Porsche Workshop manual. Thank you Victor
Great video. with every one of your videos I gather something new. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

The like thumbs up is not enough for gearheads. A💯 master mechanic such as this, with a calming, yet authoritative tone needs a "Love" button.
Why thank you..

Does it make any difference if the spark plugs are in or out during a valve adjustment?
No, It just makes it easier to turn the engine over.

@@klassikats great thanks Kurt
Kurt,
Do you also recommend Swepco gl5 for a 1963 low mileage 741 transmission?
Thank you
Yes it would be fine to use in that transmission.

Hi Kurt, When doing an oil change and to get old oil out of the oil lines can i run motor to operating temp to open the thermo stat and then drain oil.
Yes absolutely that is the best way to drain the oil.
Kurt
@@klassikats Thanks Kurt your videos are so helpful God bless
Really basic question, do you pre-fill the oil filter? Or install it dry? TIA
Install dry, lubricate the sealing gasket with fresh engine oil before installing
Kurt
perfect
Thanks
Does this procedure (Part 1 & 2) apply to all air-cooled, along with torque values? Anything to add to later models? I have 82SC. Thanks.
Yes up to 1983 911SC models. In 1984 the cylinder head torques changed and 3.2L engines no longer get head stud torques when being serviced.

Thanks Kurt, appreciate all your work with these videos. @@klassikats

The top valve covers I use 8 - 10 NM and the lower covers 15 - 18 NM

Tell him to sell it, he obviously doesn't use it. He will make a good profit since prices are blowing up...
The problem is that if he does sell it he will never be able to get into one again as the prices are only going up. It can be a hard choice.
