This was such an insightful and inspiring episode, honestly my favourite one so far. Really interesting to get a look into something that isn't very easy to find information on and gain an understanding about players coming out of college trying to go pro.
I did a study abroad program in Madrid my sophomore year of college and loved it. I was studying in the morning at night I would train with a lower division team. I recommend it if your a college soccer player (I’m ncaa d3) and went abroad in the spring. I made so many connections and am planning to go back hopefully! And Matt, Richmond ain’t that bad lol I’m from Northen Va lol
I have been subscribed to you since the Germany days back when I had just started playing Football for fun and wanted to improve my skills and learn drills to improve technique. I had just started University then and now I'm about to graduate and have a job in a law firm and more than all the techniques, you have evolved with me and have become something of a life coach and an inspiration to keep grinding, working hard and being true to yourself. You're a crazy huge inspiration to me bro! Oh I'm still very much in touch with sports and want to keep it going in this next new phase of my life. Thanks for everything
This one was one of the most informational podcast i saw matt .. as i moved to italy but luckily i had the italian nationality as from origin i am from pakistan. But this european citizenship has helped me alot and i will be looking for better opportunities in emgland next year ... best of luck 🤙
They had a sauna in the locker room but no stadium😂😂. Great Podcast Matt and Mimi, love your videos on become elite and the podcast. They help me out so much more than you can imagine💪💯
That’s one of the best videos for you Matt I really hope you play in the MLS and keep developing. I think you should have tried playing in North Africa like Egypt Libya Tunisia Algeria Morocco cuz you are good enough for that
Man I’ve been following you since Germany and it’s so cool to better understand your mindset about the experience ! I live in France right on the border to Germany as well !
Things I learned from this podcast -do not rely on one team to accept you How hard it is to deal with playing soccer on a visitors visa -how one small connection that would be considered not effective could lead to bigger things -Always go for more than one tryout, go to it, and if. A better offer comes on right when you get done one do not comit fully -Not all clubs and and teams can financially support you coming on. -not all teams have hugh qaulity enviroments
I think I started following you right after Germany. I don’t quite remember the first couple videos. I know I was searching training videos to try and get back in shape for a local tryout, which I did pretty good I think.
You might already have been recovering from your first major injury. So where ever that fits in. I will say it was long before I ever thought you would come to FC Tulsa.
What happen to the team on 7th division that you said you would comeback, but their is this team that sponsor backs out. Why didn't you go back on the team after that sponsor thing? Thanks!
Hey matt is it possible to chat/talk with you , becouse im now over in Germany and there is things that i want to share with you and if you can give some advice . This podcast is so cool , never tought was like that , so many trials and stuff , really interesting !If its possible,on which instagram account i can message you sk you can see it ?Thanks really enjoyed the video!
How old where you then? I am 19 I played in the 6th division in Spain we finished second, so would be promotion to the fifth division. I have an opportunity at Elon university to play there starting in the spring and maybe as a practice player in the fall. What advice would you have for me? I have connections in Spain and England. I have a EU passport as well as an American. Should I try in college or continue to try and play in Europe?
Imo, if you really want to play pro 5th division is better. You can always go to school later for an education, but you will never be 19 in Europe again.
@@gospodintata1064 should have listened, I ended up going to college did a season of D1 but now I'm back at a 5th division team in Spain. But every move plays a part in development
Hey Matt I have a question what if my brother has contacts in the first division in Honduras . I’m 16 right now playing usys National league n the upsl . I have colleges looking at me but my true dream is to go pro straight out of highschool would recommend for me to take the chance or take the college route ?
I'm not matt but I'll try to answer for you to have some ideas. If can send video of your highlights playing, then send it to your brother's contacts if someone would be interested even if your a minor then it would be great, if not then go for college first and play, and record your highlights and send it again back to the contacts. Hopefully I did help.
If you have connections in Honduras go for it bro because you have a good chance there, I’m Honduran and would love to have connections but I don’t, you can always play college later
Matt i am a fucking 17 year old kid so i play in a amateur League in Greece ,but the team that has to sign me has to pay an big price and Also they can sign only 3 foreigners , its hilarious I leave he re for 17 years but i am just not greek and every team that i try out say toy know you are good i want you, you are killing it and stuff and no team make me a contract , and to be honest the government makes it so hard tha if i was a coach i couldnt and i wouldn't sign me because of the difficulty ,i really think its crazy , and Also i think its a bit racist , Just because my family its not from here i literally can't easily play in any team , i go in the preseason and i do really really well i am 16 year old playing with a mens team and i can't get a contract to be able to play cause of the law ,it is so fucking frustrating
Sorry! Ignore the echo 😩
