    The Triumph dealerships make this process sound like an Alien is going to work on your motorcycle when you give it for service after the 20,000 and 40,000 intervals. The skill that you have shown is remarkable and hats off to your patience.

    Thank you very much. This was very helpful. You are a careful and competent mechanic. I've got a 2013 Tiger but you've given me a pretty good idea of the job. Your video on the throttle body synchronization was also helpful. I've just picked up those tools so will be doing that as well. My No.3 cylinder is a little off, which is causing some vibration in the throttle grip.

      I wonder if that might be my problem. Tires are balanced, wheels and spokes are true. I'll be doing this service and the throttle body sync on mine next weekend. It would be awesome if that solves the vibration problem. Tired of my right hand going numb so quick when I ride this bike.

I have been running fuel injector cleaner in my gas in both of my bikes to clean the carbon off the back side of the intake valves ever since I made that video. My V-Strom runs noticeably smoother since I have been doing this. Hi John, Congrats for doing this complicated job so well by yourself ! Well done ! Unfortunately, i don't have this talent; my dealer did this job to my Tiger 800 XCa 2018 recently and i have been said that the valves were ok, in the spec range. But it happens sometimes when i start the bike cold to ear a rattling sound coming out of the engine; to me it sounds like the timing chain, it last just few seconds and it stop. Do you have any idea what this could be ? Thanks and i keep looking your video to get mechanic knowledge.

    • @ozarksbackroads5484
      @ozarksbackroads5484  2 роки тому +3

      Hello sir, good to hear from you. Yes sir I believe I do know what you might be hearing on cold start in your Tiger engine. The 800 Tiger engine has a valve that the computer controls that ports fresh air into the exhaust ports to introduce oxygen in the exhaust gases which causes the exhaust gases to burn more completely. The gases burn in the header pipes and creates quite a bit of noise that sounds like a loud rattle in the engine. Normally the computer only opens this valve during deceleration of the engine which masks the noise produced. However the Tigers software in the computer will occasionally open this valve momentarily on a cold start. This causes a rattle sound that can be alarming. I am not sure which model years this peculiarity in the ECM software exists but I do know my 2019 has it and I have seen quite a few posts on different forums discusing this issue. It seems to be the later 3 or 4 years of the 800's that I have seen comments about this. I would say that there is a very good chance that this is what you are hearing. It is not an issue to be concerned about, it will not affect the engine in any way. From what I have read it is apparent that Triumph does not recognize this as an issue. There have been no service advisories or acknowledgement from Triumph that this condition exists so your dealer is not going to know anything about it unless he has ran into this issue previously with a customers bike. I would not worry about it and just rock on. At least that is what I do.... I hope this eases your mind a bit... thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)

    Would you mind confirming the in and ex valve clearance specification as I have checked my valves and all the exhaust valves are wide open (0.33mm)

    Big thanks.

    • @ozarksbackroads5484
      @ozarksbackroads5484  7 місяців тому

      Hello there sir, good to hear from you. I understand your concerns with your valve clearances. Triumph has several different configurations of heads that they installed on their engines in 18, and 19. As far as I can tell there were three different possibilities of head part numbers that could be on your bike. .3 to .35mm was one of the exhaust valve clearance possibilities for those years and sounds like what you have there. You would have to check your VIN number against factory specs to be sure. If you google "2019 Triumph Tiger Valve Specifications" you can find a lot of info online that will help you out... good luck and thanks for watching... :)
