Really enjoying your shoe reviews. A lot of consideration and thought in each review. This review is a great example of the detail presented for each shoe you review. Well done. I also appreciate the fact that you suggested lower priced joggers as a possibility. I personally feel it’s insane that joggers from name brands cost $120 and even higher. I'll buy another Rebel v3 for 88 bux, and wait for Topo Spector 2. I'm not happy with the midsole changes in Rebel v4. Thank you for your great content.
Hey Yowana! Awesome review on the Rebels! I liked how you put this shoe through the paces, through different ground/weather conditions (was wondering if it was a good road to trail option). Overall this was a much appreciated review. Sold. Thank you! Side note: stroller running is badass. Thats no joke! Makes me want to get one. But pushing one around without a baby may look goofy.😅 And thanks for the winter pants reviews as well! Have a great one and keep killing those runs!👊 ✌️
how did you find the fit? did you have to half size up? great that you clean your shoes, so many tubers review grimy muddy shoes, probably as they get them given to them but even so disrespect the hard-earned money to let your shoes looks gross. your food looks lush, was it col cheese ? and ?
Great review. My only real negative on the Rebel V4 was the lack of rubber coverage in the mid-foot to heel. Too much EVA midsole foam hitting (and scraping) the road, because NB decided to skimp on the rubber. You can tell it was a deliberate choice because on the Bigger Brother SC Elite, there is much more rubber and a lot less midsole foam exposed to the asphalt and gravel.
Rotating between this and the cloud flyer 4 which I found at Nordstrom Rack for $109. Rebel V4 is very marshmallowy, love the breathable upper. Not as fast feeling as the flyer. With the new balance at the end of the day there’s no fatigue in my feet.
Hi there! I’m new here, loving the content! Thinking about grabbing myself a pair, I’m a 8.5 in Nike but I’ve heard people go up half a size in NB, what was your fit like?
Yowana! Love your videos, huge inspiration to see you putting so many miles in and staying healthy. Currently working up to a 100 mile week myself and training for a sub 2:50 marathon in April. Thanks so much!
hey dude i included all my meals from monday here in this video for you: ua-cam.com/video/wtq94Gm8FvY/v-deo.html there's lots of other stuff in that video on the shoe hahaha so you can use the timestamps i put in the description to just skip to the meals. also here's a video i did a few weeks ago that showed my full day of nutrition for a long run ua-cam.com/video/IQGmlm7PnqM/v-deo.html and then this one i believe has all my meals too but no timestamps and also audio error in the beginning ua-cam.com/video/d78nZt-iL38/v-deo.html here are some high-level thoughts that might be helpful - in general, tofu, tempeh, chickpeas and then "fake meats" are my biggest protein sources. for breakfast, tofu scramble is a great staple to replace eggs if that's been a big piece of your diet - cut and press the tofu to get the water out (you can lay the cut pieces between paper towels and then press) and then crumble the tofu in a browl and brown in a pan with olive oil with whatever veggies you want. usually i do peppers and onions and season with taco seasoning. for the fake meat, it's not the "cleanest" source of calories but it's a nice switch up from tofu/beans and i'm not super picky about that - my top brands outside the big ones you probably know about already like beyond and impossible are field roast, tofurkey sausages, gardein (their buffalo patties), sweet earth and the trader joes store brand and then here are some more meal ideas for you. jotted down a bunch of ideas top pre-run breakfasts: oatmeal with peanut butter and banana (for oatmeal i do 1 cup oats, 2 cups oat milk, turn on high until it bubbles then turn to low until the milk evaporates - takes about 7 minutes total) cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter, banana and honey (honey is made by bees so technically not vegan but it doesn't have cholesterol, which is the reason i went vegan, so i still eat it) cereal and oat milk toast with jam brunch/post-run breakfast: tofu scramble with toast/bagel waffles/pancakes and vegan breakfast sausage with fruit. best pancake recipe www.noracooks.com/vegan-pancakes/ smoothie: i used to make this smoothie almost everyday with two frozen bananas, one or two un-pitted dates (depending on how sweet you want it and how sweet the protein is), two tablespoons peanut butter, small handful of ice and two to three cups of oat milk (not sure exact quantity - you can eyeball it until you figure out how you like the consistency), cocoa powder and/or chocolate protein powder. i don't use protein powder anymore but the aloha brand used to be my go-to avocado toast snacks: bagels. lol this is a staple for me cereal with oat milk hummus and carrots granola and oat milk with peanut butter. homemade granola is super easy to make - charli usually does this one so i'll get her recipe for you easy lunch ideas: chickpea salad (tuna salad dupe) - drain chickpeas, mix with vegan mayo, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, sea salt. i like this open faced on a toasted everything bagel. sometimes on long run days i like to have this with kettle bbq chips on the side for a little extra crunch and flavor. it's also good with pretzels/carrots/sliced red peppers on the side if you don't want the chips buffalo chickpea salad - drain chickpeas, mix with vegan mayo and smash with fork until chickpeas are blended together but not a paste (it's an art not a science), franks red hot, sunflower seeds, chopped celery. pasta with frozen peas and sausage (i like to sautee sausage in olive oil. cut into rounds and brown on both sides - then add on top of pasta when finished). easy pasta sauce is nutritional yeast, earth balance, olive oil, oat milk. melt butter and a little flour with the milk before adding pasta back in if you want a thicker bodied sauce. without flour it's good too but thinner pre-made frozen burritos - rice, beans, salsa, vegan cheese, vegan chorizo. pre make and put in freezer so they're ready whenever you need them - bake for 35 mins on 375 tempeh bacon blt simple vegan dinners: teriyaki tofu with broccoli and rice sheetpan bake: beyond sausages, brussels sprouts, onions and peppers on a cookie sheet. vegan cacio e pepe. try the NYT recipe - it's fire cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020729-vegan-cacio-e-pepe quinoa bowl: roasted chickpeas, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, carrots with tahini sauce southern bbq meal: bbq tempeh, olive oil and garlic sauteed green beans, grits pantry/fridge staples you might not have now: nutritional yeast - adds cheesy flavor to sauces oat milk - it's worth it over soy/almond. it has a better body to it than other dairy-free milks. i like the full fat versions tofu - firm or extra firm tempeh - any brand is fine but lightlife is a popular one. they have pre seasoned tempeh bacon and buffalo tempeh that are pretty fire too olive oil - main cooking oil peanut butter - you probably do have this now but it's good to have a ton around when switching to a vegan diet to make sure you can always get in easy protein if you're feeling like you're not getting enough. i used to eat spoonfuls out of the jar in the beginning when i was figuring out how to get my diet right lol teriyaki sauce - easy way to flavor tofu taco seasoning - easy way to flavor tofu scramble (i can eat this multiple times per week) earth balance - our go-to vegan butter follow your heart vegan parmesan - for pasta topping follow your heart vegan cheese slices - for sandwiches/melting daiya cheese - also a good cheese option that's sold pretty much everywhere if you have a sweet tooth: justin's peanut butter/almond butter cups are vegan (most are but some aren't - make sure to check label) ben and jerrys has tons of vegan options abe's muffins - these are a good sweet snack with decent ingredients. sold at whole foods alright i think that's the end of the brain dump hahaha lmk if any questions on the above - happy to share more insights and can also get some more ideas for you from charli
I came home from my early run to a full documentary on the Rebel v4. I'm very impressed with the durability after what you put them through. 2024 should be a great year for these lightweight trainers: Rebel v4, Hyperion 2, Adios 9, Mach 6. I would expect great durability from at least the first 3 and you will probably put the Mach 6 through the gauntlet (SAT word?). I laugh when you make your disclaimers about keeping the kids dry and safe. :) I wonder if you put more wear on the Velocity Nitro because of the 10mm drop.
mach 6 is definitely going through the gauntlet as well. such a great segment this year - i'm also super excited for that topo specter 2 which will have the 100% peba midsole but no plate
Great review. I’m trying to decide between this or the Hoka Mach 6, which would you recommend for someone running 30-50 miles a week? I’m training for cross country
Yo Jose! Good to see you here in the comments! As one who grew up in Melrose and rode the Orange Line all the time from Oak Grove, I feel compelled to say not to forget to mention Medford and Somerville!
@@davebelcher8374 Yo! Hey Dave! Great to see you here too. Hope all is well. Of course those towns deserve their honorable mentions. It’s been awhile since I’ve road the Orange line and I live pretty close to it too.
Thanks for the updated review. Definitely on my to buy list. Do you know whether NB is offering this shoe in wide fit? (I have hobbit forefeet) I'm assuming they will as even their super-shoe is offered in wide and they are the most accommodating brand for wider feet. I run in 1080v13 4E and they fit perfectly. Last years Rebel 3 in wide was also a good fit, if not perfect. I'm interested to see your comparison of the Rebel v4s to the Mach 6.
Hey I’m new to your channel, liking it though thanks. I had a question. How far do you tend to get from shoes and do you do long distance tests (400-500 mile for example?) I ask as you get major distance very quickly so it would be great to see how they are at those distances.
I typically retire shoes around 300 to 350 miles - that's when the rubber starts to go in the back from my wear pattern and also when foam starts to not feel as protective. I'm planning to see how many miles I can get out of these for sure so stay tuned for more mileage updates
Both are good for faster running and daily miles but Superblast is much more cushioned and protective (45mm heel stack in superblast vs 30mm in the rebel). The rebel isn't great for runs over 90 minutes. If you can get both they would be a great pairing with the rebel for shorter runs/faster speed work and the superblast for longer runs and marathon pace. Rebel is also solid for recovery runs. If you can only get one though you'll probably be happier with the superblast given the long runs you'll be doing for training
Now. I'm in doubt about my next shoes purchase to get from NB after I got the 1080 v13. I was about to hit "buy" in a pair of 880 v14, but now I'm rethinking...
in my own rotation i will probably run in the speed 4 only when doing comparison videos since i prefer the boston 12 for fast workouts and the sc trainer v2 for relaxed running. if i only had those two shoes though (rebel and speed), i would pick the speed 4 for any run over 90 minutes. i love the rebel v4 but i prefer having more cushion for longer runs
I am a heavy-weight runner and currently use the NB 1080 V13 for my daily short runs. While the 1080 V13 is okay, I need shoes with softer cushioning. I am looking for shoes that offer more softness. Could you please compare the softness between the NB 1080 V13 and the NB Rebel v4? Thank you for your review.
1080v13 feels a lot softer and more cushioned than the rebel. The only other shoe I've tried that's just as soft as the 1080 or even a little softer is the Asics gel-nimbus. You may want to try that if you want a supportive, soft cushioned shoe. The nimbus 25 is on sale for $120 right now so is also a good deal
@@supwell Thanks. I'm also considering the Nimbus 26 for maximum cushioning. I've heard some UA-camrs mention that the Nimbus 26 and Nimbus 25 offer the same level of maximum cushioning.
@@thunderunbox33yeah 25 and 26 are very similar - they made minor changes to the rubber outsole and upper. You can find the 25 for at least $40 cheaper so I'd highly recommend going with the 25
How does the midsole feel compared to the SC Trainer v2? Is it as bouncy? I love the underfoot feel of the Trainer v2. Trying to find a speed day shoe with a similar bounce but lower stack and no plate to pair with the Trainer in my rotation.
It's a lot different in this generation - not as much bounce compared to the Rebel v3 and SC Trainer v2. A good option would be the Mach 6 if you want that bouncy feel. It does have more stack at 37mm but it's still super lightweight and great for running fast. I did a comparison with the rebel earlier this week ua-cam.com/video/Bc-XkbBFt3g/v-deo.htmlsi=Z-kOuTZQq30wkq4t
I never did figure out why anyone would put a sponge insole in a running shoe that gets sweat and water in it..NB has a much better insole in the 880 and the best is in the Saucony shoes until they put the squishy insoles in their shoes..I use to buy Sauconys just for the insoles then gave away the shoes ..
Great video, would u recommend these or the 1030v13 for a heavier runner (210lbs) as a daily trainer? I only run 5km and 10km distance at moderate pace. Thanks man
I would take the 1080 for moderate only everyday running - it's more supportive and comfortable. It's also extremely soft so another cushioned option that a lot of bigger runners like is the Asics novablast 4. It's got a little more structure and bounce to it than the 1080. Here are links to both on the site - let me know if you have any questions www.supwell.io/shoes/new-balance-1080v13 www.supwell.io/shoes/asics-novablast-4
HI, Just wanted to say thank you for this video. Ran today in the rebels and it was amazing. I am a girl but have to order mens shoes. A uk size 8 in the mens was perfect for my wide foot. I suffer from bunion ,PF and bursitis and had no foot pain during the run. I do agree that it was a faster shoe and cannot see myself doing long runs in them? I will be training for Chicago soon and starting from scratch buying new trainers as I previously wore Brooks , saucony and hoka and never was happy with them. I like the heel drop and width of the NB Rebels. I ordered Novoblasts 4 in mens to try for possibly daily and long run shoe? My question is to you is will I use the NB rebels for tempo? if the novoblast is wide enough for me will i use that for daily /longer runs. Can you suggest any other wide fitting trainers for daily and longer runs. I want to try Boston 12 for speed workouts because you love them and I think we like the firmer ride. I do think the firmer ride helps with my foot issue
Glad you are enjoying them! And yeah I prefer the rebel v4 for tempo style workouts over the novablast. Novablast is my preference for longer and more relaxed runs
Thank you so much for the recommendation 😊 always afraid to try new shoes but these are amazing. I'm buying a pair for rebels for walking shoes too. You are one of the best reviewers out there ☺️
How does this compare to the Invincible 3? I have the Vaporfly 3 which is a great fast shoe (and surprisingly very good for long runs). I am looking to add a little bit of recovery cushion to the rotation. Thank you.
Invincible 3 is a lot more cushioned and bouncy - I wouldn't suggest either the invincible or the rebel for recovery. Invincible is a little to energetic and bouncy for recovery days and rebel doesn't have as much cushion as other options. My favorite cushioned shoe for recovery is the new balance 1080v13 - super soft shoe with a protective feel and comfortable upper
Great review, I’m looking for a shoe I can wear to work when I’m standing and walking all day, I’m currently using adidas boost and their just not enough my feet are always hurting
Thank you! And I would highly recommend the brooks ghost max for that - best on the market right now for standing and walking. Soft and cushioned with enough support for those long hours on feet. Check out the video I did recently on it - bunch of good comments left too about people's experience with the shoe A Bittersweet Farewell to the Brooks Ghost Max ua-cam.com/video/6g-uZt7ykvw/v-deo.html
Which is the better long run shoe, the New Balance Rebel V4 or the Adidas Boston 12. I want what the Asics Novablast 1 had before Asics nerfed it: nice bounce, no "bottoming out" and beaten up legs and feet during and after 2+ hours of running; the ability to pick up the pace (to or a bit faster than tempo pace); and 400 miles of durability, both in the outsole and in the midsole.
I went in new balance store last week and ask for this v4, they say it is not out until march. How did you get in front to buy it for yourself. I thought nb sent you a pair. 😊. I am loving the rebel v1-v3 because the foam is super soft and best for my prolong plantar fasciitis injury…. does this v4 foam has the same feel and protection ?
I currently use the Novablast 4 for all my daily runs, but looking for a Speed shoe/daily trainer so that I can reserve my novablast for my higher mileage days. Would this shoe be a good fit? Or should I try the adizero SL2?
both these and SL2 would be perfect for that. SL2 is a little softer, more cushioned underfoot and has more bounce - rebel v4 is a little lighterweight, more rockered but also great for running faster. either are a great choice but would choose based on whether you want more lightweight or cushioned
I have the rebel v3 at 250 and they still feel okay. I think the foam in the v4 will get some more life because it feels more like a traditional Eva which is more durable, plus the rubber coverage is better. They should get 300 miles/500km easily. I plan to get mine to 200 miles within the next few months and do an update
I think the sc trainer v3 will feel like a taller plated version of the rebel. The sc elite v4 feels pretty different from this- sc elite has more foam and felt a lot firmer at slower paces than the rebel. Also the fuelcell formula is different - in the sc elite it's 100% PEBA and in here it's 20% PEBA and 80% Eva
@@supwell thinking if sc4 will breaking like the rebel, with a more pleaseant ride for long and slow runs, but maybe thats the purpose of sc trainer. Tks for the answer, and sorry about my english, i'm from brazil. Congrats!
I run a lot but I don’t really know running terms I do running for boxing but I’m curious when you said daily runs if I’m doing 6-12miles daily would you recommend this shoe ? What about ASICS superblast
for runs up to 12 miles i would suggest something with a little more cushion underfoot. two of my favorites right now are the asics novablast 4 and the puma deviate nitro 2. novablast is more cushioned and little better for relaxed paces while the deviate nitro 2 is bouncy and better for faster running. lots of people do like the superblast but i'm not a fan personally - it always forces me to run faster than i want for daily miles and doesn't feel as comfortable for me as the novablast 4, which is $60 cheaper
@@supwell okay I appreciate that so much thank you ! When you say relaxed runs is that all preference on like a specific pace ? Like for me I usually hold 8-8:30 pace when doing 8-10miles
@@MobBless97 it depends on your own pace! i think you'd do well with the novablast 4 at that pace though. it's decently versatile and also super comfortable
Depends what you're looking for! v4 has more of a daily trainer feel and v3 has more of a speed training vibe. So if you want something for everyday use I'd go v4 and if you want something for fast running only then v3
I’m a 20 mile a week runner, mostly zone 2 with a mix of threshold every once in a while. For that would you suggest this or the 1080? I didn’t like the nimbus because it was just to plush with not enough responsiveness so I’m worried the 1080 will be the same
1080 is very similar to the nimbus. i would suggest this over the 1080 but you may prefer the mach over both. has a little more cushion than the rebel for those zone 2 miles but is also super fun to run in. comparison video of mach 6 vs rebel v4 is coming soon so stay tuned
I got mine yesterday and went for a bit over 7 miles to test it out. Felt great for that distance, I do think anything super long I may go with a max cushioned shoe. Also, I was trying to stay in Zone 2 (and I did until about mile 6) but this shoe did make me want to go a bit faster. Had to hold myself back a bit. Probably gonna just use this for slightly quicker stuff but overall I really love it, cant wait to use it again
For anyone getting this shoe size up 1/2. I wear 11.5 on all my running shoes but NB fuel cell lines run small so I got the 12 and thank goodness they fit perfectly.
You probably answered this on the video, but I was skimming through watching on a treadmill and think I missed where you may have answered but: If you had to choose one of these as a desert island shoe, speed 4 or rebel 4?
i prefer the rebel over the speed 4 - i like the simpler, lightweight feel, and if i'm going to use a plated shoe for speedwork i prefer something firmer and more rigid than the speed 4. the key point in favor of the speed 4 though is that it's a lot more protective and better for 90+ minute runs - when i went 23 miles in the rebel it handled it pretty well but i would prefer more cushion. so if you're looking for a fun everyday running shoe, i'd go with the rebel, but if you want something for longer runs, then the speed 4. here's the full video i did comparing those two ua-cam.com/video/fldH9Ufc1rE/v-deo.html&lc=Ugx3wAakzvTEFDrbVVt4AaABAg
I’ve stuck 1600km on ASICS Superblast, prob best all rounder I’ve worn. I think this Rebel outdoes it though, you actually feel like ur running naturally again, which is rare in modern trainers! Any plans to review FuelCell Venym? Be interested to see ya thoughts, hoping it’s basically the trail twin of the Rebel..
I'll see if I can get that one in. I have a New Balance trail shoe here I'm waiting to test - hoping to get more time on the trails later this spring/summer
I really like the shoe but I’m also 6ft 190lb and even during a short 5K easy run, the forefoot bottoms out and starts just feeling like a slappy firm ride that hurts some. I do really like the shoe with that being said! Wouldn’t hate it if they pushed the stack to 28-34 or 27-33 next iteration.
Dang sorry to hear it didn't work for you! If you want a fun new balance with that higher stack range you may have better luck with the upcoming Balos - it's going to have more of the PEBA race day foam than the rebel and a higher stack so should feel bouncier and more cushioned
Ooooh, I'm a similar build and I was seriously considering a pair of these but now I'm not so sure! This is why it's always good to go though all the comments
Last summer I did all my intervals in the V3 version and the shoe was great for that. I never ran longer than 6mi in them which is long enough to judge the midsole. I thought they were fairly comfortable but for anything above 10mi I would reach for my Triumph. One shoe I wish you would compare these with (that nobody does and never will) is the new Asics Evoride Speed 2. I believe they are the same kind of shoes as the Rebel v4.
What would be a good replacement shoe that’s similar to V3 with the flexible and being a low shoe? I haven’t tried the V4 yet but might give it a go. Still sad about the V3 being gone and I can’t even get more pairs due to the size not available anywhere.
Overall, I’ve been liking the Rebel V4. However my one complaint is the tongue. The front edge of the tongue is unfinished and rough. If you prefer to wear low cut/low show socks, it will scratch the heck out of the front of your ankle. (Or at least they do on the way they fit me during runs)
I’m sure other people have asked. Do you have the novablast 4 on your list of shoes to try? I love the 3 and am thinking I would transition to that eventually
Yes! We had friends recommend and give us a deal on their Thule urban glide 2. They recommended that and the Bob. They bought the Thule single and double later for the second kid. Thanks for asking!
What your feeling about using this rebel v4 for a marathon race do you think it could work for a 3:45 runner? And are there better options fora wide footed runner?
Great question - I wouldn't use this for a full marathon. There are more cushioned options that have a wider forefoot. From new balance the SC elite v4 is a great choice!
The more v4 is a more cushioned shoe designed more for walking and relaxed running. Rebel v4 is more streamlined, lightweight and better for fast miles - I'd choose based on that!

Hi Yowana, I found your channel as I was searching reviews of Rebel V4. I am currently having a pair of HOKA Mach 5 and it’s still fresh. I usually have a 5-10 km run twice a week, just for fun. Currently looking for a new pair to have interval training or tempo run, is Rebel V4 a good option? Or should I switch to some plated shoes like Magic Speed 3? Looking forward to your advice, cheers!
Go for the Mach 6 - really wish I went in for them over my Rebel v4. I had tried on some 6's at the running show and thought they were great comfy and good pop to them. However also tried on the freshfoam 1080 v13 and the SC Elites. Where based on the online reviews, went for the Rebel as seem to advocate it and having tried the two above and below shoes (which I was very impressed with) thought they must have a similar feel. However I'm wrong! They are okay just nothing special, nothing special comfort wise but no really pop/energy return either. I would even say I thought the freshfoam 1080's v13 are better with more pop to them. Surprisingly I would say they are no better than my Reebok Floatride 5 - which is crazy considering the price difference.

Great review. My only real negative on the Rebel V4 was the lack of rubber coverage in the mid-foot to heel. Too much EVA midsole foam hitting (and scraping) the road, because NB decided to skimp on the rubber. You can tell it was a deliberate choice because on the Bigger Brother SC Elite, there is much more rubber and a lot less midsole foam exposed to the asphalt and gravel.

here are some high-level thoughts that might be helpful - in general, tofu, tempeh, chickpeas and then "fake meats" are my biggest protein sources. for breakfast, tofu scramble is a great staple to replace eggs if that's been a big piece of your diet - cut and press the tofu to get the water out (you can lay the cut pieces between paper towels and then press) and then crumble the tofu in a browl and brown in a pan with olive oil with whatever veggies you want. usually i do peppers and onions and season with taco seasoning. for the fake meat, it's not the "cleanest" source of calories but it's a nice switch up from tofu/beans and i'm not super picky about that - my top brands outside the big ones you probably know about already like beyond and impossible are field roast, tofurkey sausages, gardein (their buffalo patties), sweet earth and the trader joes store brand
and then here are some more meal ideas for you. jotted down a bunch of ideas
top pre-run breakfasts:
oatmeal with peanut butter and banana (for oatmeal i do 1 cup oats, 2 cups oat milk, turn on high until it bubbles then turn to low until the milk evaporates - takes about 7 minutes total)
cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter, banana and honey (honey is made by bees so technically not vegan but it doesn't have cholesterol, which is the reason i went vegan, so i still eat it)
cereal and oat milk
toast with jam
brunch/post-run breakfast:
tofu scramble with toast/bagel
waffles/pancakes and vegan breakfast sausage with fruit. best pancake recipe www.noracooks.com/vegan-pancakes/
smoothie: i used to make this smoothie almost everyday with two frozen bananas, one or two un-pitted dates (depending on how sweet you want it and how sweet the protein is), two tablespoons peanut butter, small handful of ice and two to three cups of oat milk (not sure exact quantity - you can eyeball it until you figure out how you like the consistency), cocoa powder and/or chocolate protein powder. i don't use protein powder anymore but the aloha brand used to be my go-to
avocado toast
snacks:
bagels. lol this is a staple for me
cereal with oat milk
hummus and carrots
granola and oat milk with peanut butter. homemade granola is super easy to make - charli usually does this one so i'll get her recipe for you
easy lunch ideas:
chickpea salad (tuna salad dupe) - drain chickpeas, mix with vegan mayo, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, sea salt. i like this open faced on a toasted everything bagel. sometimes on long run days i like to have this with kettle bbq chips on the side for a little extra crunch and flavor. it's also good with pretzels/carrots/sliced red peppers on the side if you don't want the chips
buffalo chickpea salad - drain chickpeas, mix with vegan mayo and smash with fork until chickpeas are blended together but not a paste (it's an art not a science), franks red hot, sunflower seeds, chopped celery.
pasta with frozen peas and sausage (i like to sautee sausage in olive oil. cut into rounds and brown on both sides - then add on top of pasta when finished). easy pasta sauce is nutritional yeast, earth balance, olive oil, oat milk. melt butter and a little flour with the milk before adding pasta back in if you want a thicker bodied sauce. without flour it's good too but thinner
pre-made frozen burritos - rice, beans, salsa, vegan cheese, vegan chorizo. pre make and put in freezer so they're ready whenever you need them - bake for 35 mins on 375
tempeh bacon blt
simple vegan dinners:
teriyaki tofu with broccoli and rice
sheetpan bake: beyond sausages, brussels sprouts, onions and peppers on a cookie sheet.
vegan cacio e pepe. try the NYT recipe - it's fire cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020729-vegan-cacio-e-pepe
quinoa bowl: roasted chickpeas, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, carrots with tahini sauce
southern bbq meal: bbq tempeh, olive oil and garlic sauteed green beans, grits
pantry/fridge staples you might not have now:
nutritional yeast - adds cheesy flavor to sauces
oat milk - it's worth it over soy/almond. it has a better body to it than other dairy-free milks. i like the full fat versions
tofu - firm or extra firm
tempeh - any brand is fine but lightlife is a popular one. they have pre seasoned tempeh bacon and buffalo tempeh that are pretty fire too
olive oil - main cooking oil
peanut butter - you probably do have this now but it's good to have a ton around when switching to a vegan diet to make sure you can always get in easy protein if you're feeling like you're not getting enough. i used to eat spoonfuls out of the jar in the beginning when i was figuring out how to get my diet right lol
teriyaki sauce - easy way to flavor tofu
taco seasoning - easy way to flavor tofu scramble (i can eat this multiple times per week)
earth balance - our go-to vegan butter
follow your heart vegan parmesan - for pasta topping
follow your heart vegan cheese slices - for sandwiches/melting
daiya cheese - also a good cheese option that's sold pretty much everywhere
if you have a sweet tooth:
justin's peanut butter/almond butter cups are vegan (most are but some aren't - make sure to check label)
ben and jerrys has tons of vegan options
abe's muffins - these are a good sweet snack with decent ingredients. sold at whole foods
alright i think that's the end of the brain dump hahaha lmk if any questions on the above - happy to share more insights and can also get some more ideas for you from charli
Seems to be shoe of the year?!
So far for sure
What up Yowana! Orange line runs through Malden which is a few towns over from me. Nice work!
How do this compare to the superblast? :) thinking about it for a marathon training block
How much do you spend on trainers !
What watch is that ?
Montre coros pace 3
I'm a 9 in my street shoes (vans, adidas,...). I go a half size up in Kinvaras (9.5). How does the rebel fit? Would I be good with a 9 or 9.5?
i would go with the same size as your street shoes. it fits me well in my normal shoe size
@@supwell thanks so much for the advice. It’s really helpful. Great channels
Now. I'm in doubt about my next shoes purchase to get from NB after I got the 1080 v13. I was about to hit "buy" in a pair of 880 v14, but now I'm rethinking...
I have a pair of 880v14 in the queue for testing - stay tuned
Great! What situation would you pick Speed 4 over Rebel 4 in your rotation? or you're already done with speed 4
in my own rotation i will probably run in the speed 4 only when doing comparison videos since i prefer the boston 12 for fast workouts and the sc trainer v2 for relaxed running. if i only had those two shoes though (rebel and speed), i would pick the speed 4 for any run over 90 minutes. i love the rebel v4 but i prefer having more cushion for longer runs
@@supwell Got it! Tks man and keep up the energy here 👏🏻
Janjis, an Athletic IPA, and a love for clean shoes? We’re basically the same person…I’m just slower. 😝
@@supwell thanks! Love the comparison videos.
Hi! Is it durable enough as a walking shoes for all day wear? Is the foam doesn't bottom out quickly?
Hated the Rebel V4 after 10 mile tempo run. Cushioning felt lifeless to me.
As a 6'6" runner, I'm know the jogger leg length issue too well.
hahaha yeah it's not ideal - i wish one of these brands had a long version

Great work...... !! But so far for pryce.....😢😢
Almost seems like New Balance version of a Novablast
Great stuff man!!! Your into it!!! Maybe a bit better footage( less ,shake Vlog type , footage )
Man, I'm concerned about the roomier toe box. I have slimmer feet and heard they made it even roomier this time. I may have to get the Mach 6.
Mach 6 is also a great choice and I think most people will like it more than rebel v4 anyway - it's a little bouncier and more cushioned
@@supwell Great. Thank you for the prompt reply. I may be partial to a bouncy and cushiony ride after 7-8 miles in the Vaporfly. Thanks again.
Check out the video I did recently on it - bunch of good comments left too about people's experience with the shoe A Bittersweet Farewell to the Brooks Ghost Max

@@supwell thank you for your insight and time. I’m checking your review out now on break, enjoy the rest of your week brother 🙏
I will be doing all my daily miles in rebel 4 and Boston 12.
Definitely the Boston 12 for long runs - it has much more cushion and is a lot more supportive
@@supwellThanks!
The upper is a 2layer mesh?
I went in new balance store last week and ask for this v4, they say it is not out until march. How did you get in front to buy it for yourself. I thought nb sent you a pair. 😊. I am loving the rebel v1-v3 because the foam is super soft and best for my prolong plantar fasciitis injury…. does this v4 foam has the same feel and protection ?
Dang it went up early on one website in the US (hibbett sports) and I just checked so I could send it to you but now it's taken down
Oh … what is that website ?? 😮.. that website is still selling the v3 for $130. Rip-off.
The softer shoes help your PF? With me it is the opposite - super squishy shoes like Nimbus really aggravate my PF which is counterintuitive
What sort of mileage do you think these will handle? I’ve killed my new balance trainer v2 in 300km
Whats that watch you use
Coros pace 3! It's been solid for me and it's one of the most affordable running watches
@@supwell thanks for that quick answer. You should make a video about the watch , I think people will find it useful
Do you think the ride of sc elite v4 is similar, besides the plate?
Congrats!
can anyone tell me cause i have watch other video and they all said it was very soft in the midsole is that true?
Yes it's very soft but it's not the most cushion. If you're looking for soft and a lot of cushion I'd recommend the new balance 1080v13
@@supwell thanks, i have the new balance 1080v13 but i want a very soft running shoes.

@@supwell okay thank you
Damit, foiled again. 40 mins. Cant do it
Real question is the V3 on discount or the v4 brand new.
Depends what you're looking for! v4 has more of a daily trainer feel and v3 has more of a speed training vibe. So if you want something for everyday use I'd go v4 and if you want something for fast running only then v3
@supwell thanks for the reply! I am looking for more of a non plated speed shoe for workouts so sounds like V3 for me (for now!)
Is that colorway purplish in person? Looks like it
it said black/silver online but it's closer to navy. could have some deep purplish tones in a certain light
@@supwell Awesome, thank you! Probably will wait for some other colorways to release. Loving your content!
QUIT SLEEPIN ON THIS MANS TRAINING
I’m a 20 mile a week runner, mostly zone 2 with a mix of threshold every once in a while. For that would you suggest this or the 1080? I didn’t like the nimbus because it was just to plush with not enough responsiveness so I’m worried the 1080 will be the same
1080 is very similar to the nimbus. i would suggest this over the 1080 but you may prefer the mach over both. has a little more cushion than the rebel for those zone 2 miles but is also super fun to run in. comparison video of mach 6 vs rebel v4 is coming soon so stay tuned
@@supwell that’s great info thanks!
Use metric system. 🤦🏻♂️
Part of the reason we had a revolution. Most people think it was taxes.
Those rebels went through hell😂
If you have the superblast, do you really need any other shoe?
You always need another pair of shoes… 💀
For anyone getting this shoe size up 1/2. I wear 11.5 on all my running shoes but NB fuel cell lines run small so I got the 12 and thank goodness they fit perfectly.
How are they treating you? I went my typical 12 and got my first black toenail. Thinking of doing the half size vs whole.
You probably answered this on the video, but I was skimming through watching on a treadmill and think I missed where you may have answered but:
If you had to choose one of these as a desert island shoe, speed 4 or rebel 4?
i prefer the rebel over the speed 4 - i like the simpler, lightweight feel, and if i'm going to use a plated shoe for speedwork i prefer something firmer and more rigid than the speed 4. the key point in favor of the speed 4 though is that it's a lot more protective and better for 90+ minute runs - when i went 23 miles in the rebel it handled it pretty well but i would prefer more cushion. so if you're looking for a fun everyday running shoe, i'd go with the rebel, but if you want something for longer runs, then the speed 4. here's the full video i did comparing those two ua-cam.com/video/fldH9Ufc1rE/v-deo.html&lc=Ugx3wAakzvTEFDrbVVt4AaABAg
This seems to be one of your favorites, a lot of videos on this one
yeah this is my favorite training shoe so far this year
Would you recommend Puma deviate nitro 2 vs NB Rebel v4?
I’ve stuck 1600km on ASICS Superblast, prob best all rounder I’ve worn. I think this Rebel outdoes it though, you actually feel like ur running naturally again, which is rare in modern trainers! Any plans to review FuelCell Venym? Be interested to see ya thoughts, hoping it’s basically the trail twin of the Rebel..
I'll see if I can get that one in. I have a New Balance trail shoe here I'm waiting to test - hoping to get more time on the trails later this spring/summer
@@supwell nice one 🙌🏻
Thanks for the suggestion! Looking forward to that release (not the price point)!
I believe they are the same kind of shoes as the Rebel v4.
triumph is one of my favorite long run shoes from the past year. and thanks for the rec on the evoride speed - I'll add to the list
@@supwell yes they are great. Can’t wait to see how the 22 is going to be like. thanks 🙏 cheers
Hey man thanks for asking - I'll add this one to the list. btw any luck on finding a good deal on jogging stroller?

Bro new balance fresh X more v4 or new balance rebel lace up which is better ?

Hi Yowana, I found your channel as I was searching reviews of Rebel V4.
I am currently having a pair of HOKA Mach 5 and it’s still fresh.
I usually have a 5-10 km run twice a week, just for fun. Currently looking for a new pair to have interval training or tempo run, is Rebel V4 a good option? Or should I switch to some plated shoes like Magic Speed 3? Looking forward to your advice, cheers!
If you like the Mach 5, you'll love the rebel v4 as well - they're super similar. If you're running up to 10km max i wouldn't suggest a plated shoe
@@jamieoliverjones3775 thanks for the review mate. So rebel V4 is not bouncy enough for a tempo / interval training?
