Great video. I had the older purple version of this for quite a long time. One thing to mention is that if the smart mix dial is set to heavy traffic instead of normal it will use a ton of solution and be really foamy. Turning it to normal will reduce the soap so it wont be as foamy in the tank. I only used bissell soaps with mine and it worked great like in your video. You can really tell a huge difference in the path you cleaned vs where you didnt.

@OneDayAfterAnother This unit in particular never had a heating element to clarify. The heat was always from exhaust air being forced onto the bottom of the clean/dirty water container. The design is only meant to keep the already hot tap water at a good temperature for cleaning. Lime deposits from hard water build up in the solution lines easily on these I’ll admit.

@OneDayAfterAnother I remember that video, people who had that issue didn’t properly mix the cleaning solution. Very avoidable issue with older Proheats. Less is more sometimes

Yep, I figured this would impress you. There's little difference between the ProHeat x2 and this. Just twice the brush... maybe a little more weight up front... though the x2 is heavy, not light like the vacuums. I'm so glad I went with Bissell for my first home carpet washing machine. I reviewed and researched forever before I bought it. So far they still rate #1. Their vacuums are not great, but they excel in carpet shampoo machine for home. My hubby says it's because of the kind of suction they pursue. Like the difference between torque and horse power in trucks. Carpet shampoo machine need more "torque"... vacuums need more "horse power". Makes total sense. So basically if you want a good carpet cleaner... get a diesel, for vacuums a good V-8 4x4 will do just fine. Lol. I will say...Kirby (those lugs) they do have the best upholstery cleaning attachment ever! But man they are still heavy and their vacuum power still flops compared to so many. I grew up with Kirby...I thought all vacuums were supposed to body build the biceps...lol! It's a new world... back then you could only hire out our rent carpet shampooers. Great share! Thanks... smiles

I bought one of these as well to tackle my mother's house with and the carpet, has two sides the side that was u underneath old furniture and the well worn path. For a good first & second cleaning I have had to go back and forth. It tends to take almost a whole day to dry because of access water, i have noticed but this carpet is old. I just use a towel to blot up extra, let it dry, and fluff with the vacuum.
Secondary, I have noticed too if you have heavy pet stains, the pet stain tool didn't work for me as well as the little one did and some good scrubbing. Also had put my other hand on the wand to get up the extra water. But for my first carpet cleaner I really like and I am already seeing a world of difference. My next challenge is the living room. With only a 1gal tank it's going to be alot.😁

  • @mrsseasea

they fixed major issues, 1. the little red filter that got clogged on the older machines, and you could not get it flushed, now you can removed that wet filter and clean it.
    2. any yucky stuff that dose get sucked up, they give you a cleaning stick to clean that clear peace.
    3. easy water fill and dump.
    like it so far.

I borrowed my mom's ProHeat, but maybe it's an earlier model as it doesn't look exactly like this, but quite similar. I watched zero videos on how to use it and my mom was exhausted when I came to retrieve it and was sleeping, so I didn't get to ask her all the questions I might have otherwise. I did vacuum beforehand, but got a lot of wet lint as I used it. I admittedly didn't check the bottom of it for what it looked like when I got it from my mom and she owns a dog (and I borrowed this cleaner after an unfortunate one month adoption of a dog that didn't work out). Not sure if I did a bad job of vacuuming or what, but I do see I didn't take as much time with cleaning the carpet as you did. I only added the water rinse on the entranceway and the entrance of my kitchen, high-traffic areas, and they don't look any different to me.
I was worried about the carpet being too wet, so I used towels and scooted on my feet over the carpet to get up the excess. Then I sprayed some OdoBan everywhere, as the house smelled more of wet carpet than the shampoo. I wasn't trying to make the house perfect, just to not smell like urine and I think I accomplished that. But I'll reserve a full house deep clean for when I move out and have nothing left on the floor.
Or just hire a pro, my goodness, shampooing a carpet looks like it takes forever 😅

Also, think I need to clean out the vac as it didn't dispense much soap and that could be why I just smelled wet carpet when I finished. The soap reservoir looks barely touched. I saw your in-depth video on how to clean the vacuum out, so I'll do that tomorrow (rather, it's 2AM, so today 😅). Thank you for that video!

    A cautionary tale :
I recently found one of these machines sitting outside a local businesses dumpster.
Looked brand new , in pristine condition.
I am used to fixing up discarded vaccumes and such .
So I picked it up thinking I had strick gold and could fix it up in no time.
Little did I realize what a White Elephant it truly was.
Upon examining it there seemed to be nothing wrong , doing my UA-cam research i found that while this machine looked like it could easily handle you worst carpet cleaning nightmares I was sadly surprised.
While beautiful in appearance, it is incredibly overly engineered.
    I'm sure with good intentions.
The cost of fixing this machine would not offset it's inherent problems.
Strangely small detergent dispenser , oddly designed recovery tank , overly complicated internal hose system prone to clogging problems, etc.
I decided it wasn't worth the time or money to repair
I have owned other Bissill carpet cleaners that are much better designed and simpler to operate.
This machine while beautiful in appearance is a money pit to own.
If you see one in the trash there is a good reason for it.
Don't waste your time or money.
Time to head to the recycling bin.

When your cleaning your carpet let say your direction at first is north and you pull it backwards that would be south after you do like 3 ft. By 3ft space you need to go over it again west to east or east to west in that direction just going one way won't get your carpet as clean like when you go in both directions I've been doing carpets for a long time and if you use the rinse on this cleaner you will really be amazed at how nice and fresh it looks

This design looks identical to the ProHeat model I bought back in 1997 or 1998. Cost a small fortune then - $300 or so. Had problems with it constantly. Quality of the plastics was really poor. The shampoo solution would literally eat through the plastics if you didn't run clear water through the pump system after use. The solution mix knob mechanism broke two or three times. The knob on the other side for using tools broke too. Leaks at hose connections internally. It was a crapshoot whether solution would be mixed with the water on every use. Had the service manual and fixed issues until I got tired changing same parts over and over. Was glad when newer simpler designs finally appeared.

Is anyone able to compare this one (Pro Heat Pet Turbo) to the Bissell Big Green? I currently have the latter, but for a ~400 sq ft carpeted room, it takes me ~3 clean water refills and the machine is rather clunky. It recently gave out on me after ~10 uses (water not flowing) with proper rinsing in between uses and I’m considering troubleshooting with Bissell’s customer service vs. purchasing a new one (Big Green again it a different model).
