@@YoshiLikesFate It would make sense, given that Samus seems to generate them from a discrete energy reserve rather than carrying a couple hundred on her.
"And they still can't find a way to defend their own damn science base." Actually they did, its called Samus always having to do everything...... and its a damn effective method
I'd always assumed it wasn't so much that the Federation has cracked the Varia Suit technology, as they were just sending code updates to Samus's suit so it could figure it out on its own (the Power Suit did kinda get torn up at the start of the game). Plus, the Federation has been shown to be able to reverse-engineer some of Samus's abilities. In Other M (say what you will about that game, but it is _technically_ canon), the Federation Troopers had cheap knockoff versions of Samus's Ice and Plasma Beams.
I’ve never played a Metroid game (except for like 5 minutes of Super) and really want to after watching this series. I’ll probably start with Zero Mission.
@@averytubestudios As far as 2D Metroids its still a good starting point. A lot better than something like Other M atleast. Prime is also still worth playing. A bit clunky compared to more modern FPSs but the atmossphere is still amazing.
@@averytubestudios You're right, which is why people usually suggest starting with Zero Mission. Because of the updates to it, it makes starting with what is technically the first game a better choice than the somewhat clunky original, while still starting "at the beginning" from a story perspective.
Since Jared brought up a few cases where the Story and Gameplay influence each other, one thing he didn't mention that I like is how, once you get the Varia Upgrade, those Blue X still try to suicide-bomb by ramming into you at first, but eventually they catch on that you became immune to them and just try to get the hell away from you from then on.
So the thing about the downloads Jared is...that for a LONG ass time the Federation has been trying to replicate chozo technology for their homebrew variant of power suits. You can see this in action in later Metroid games like Prime 3 and Hunters on DS...maybe even federation force? The fact that the Feds could do surgery on Samus when she was infected by X in the intro plot of this game gave them a lot of tech to analyze and attempt to copy, giving them just the right opportunity.
I would adore a playthrough of Metroid Zero Mission on this channel. If we have room for multiple Link to the Past randomizers, then we have room for multiple metroids.
YES! Definitely do play Zero Mission! Not only for the fact that it renders the original obsolete in every way imaginable, it would also make for a nice diversion while we’re waiting for your upcoming play through of Metroid Dread. Also, you can Ball Spark in Zero Mission. 😉
I'm almost certain the suit upgrades for Samus being downloaded are actually from them studying Chozo tech, but not being fully able to implement it in themselves- However, Samus' body is fused with her suit- reintroducing her cells to the data might let her just "restore" that function normally. That's my thoughts on what's going on with the data, and why the X parasites also restore her powers. Also Zero Mission- Yes, your editor told me to say yes.
Jared: Yes or No, Zero Mission??? Me: METROID!!! YESSS!!! GIMME MOAR!!! ALL OF THE METROID ON THIS CHANNEL! YOUR GAMEPLAY AND VLAD'S EDITING WE CAN RULE THE UA-cam AS CONTENT CREATOR AND WATCHER!!! ~*REEEEEEEEEEE!!! *Ahem... I mean Yes Please! Yes, Pasta? : )
A random detail I love: When you first get Varia, the Blue X still swarm you. After that first room, they flee like all other X. Also YES PLAY ZERO MISSION
Zero Mission? Yes please! I started a playthrough of Fusion a couple days before your first episode so it's fun being just a little ahead of you at all times so that nothing gets spoiled haha.
I'd love a Super Zero Mission playthrough, which is basically ZM in Super Metroid's engine but with a much larger map. It'd be a long playthrough though, so maybe people won't be into that.
I just found your channel and I am loving this playthrough! Just subscribed! I do like how you take the time to look for secrets instead of just trying to get through the game quickly. Also, I would LOVE to see a Zero Mission playthrough, it is one of my favourite Metroid games! Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is the hilarious editing, it makes the series all the more enjoyable to watch
I would love to watch a Zero Mission playthrough. But you're right, people might burn out on Metroid if you do this, then zero mission, then dread.. or.. you could become a Metroid channel and do Super Metroid speedruns lol
Metroid Zero Mission? I say yes to that, especially since Jared enjoying himself is always the most entertaining ones. But I also say take a break with either a short series or just a week or two before getting to it, to not put too much Metroid in a row.
Yes to the Zero Mission playthrough. Also, I'd say that the whole thing with the Varia Suit being downloadable, maybe the figured it out how to do it when they removed the original suit during the surgery? Given how shady the Federation is, I wouldn't discard the possibility of them taking the chance to analyze the suit parts to see what juicy info they get out of it.
Yes please, I'd love to watch you play Zero Mission too, even more so if you remember enjoying it that much! 1:32 Not only there's the SA-X menace, you can't even trust your allies... I love how they're constantly adding to the tension! 3:46 It makes sense to me and it really works for this game's narrative: not even Samus's Power Suit is safe from these people. 4:13 It's a shame that they didn't change it to make it work in this version! 6:59 As soon as I saw Power Bomb blocks, I knew what was coming even though I forgot about it. 9:36 The only complaint I have about these is that they ruin the surprise, but I guess being healed before bosses was more important. 11:28 Yeah, especially in this game (maybe the GBA in general?) it doesn't look that good. 13:36 It's a really good touch, as soon as they can't hurt Samus they start avoiding her! 14:46 I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say that I'm tired of always hearing it everywhere, but I know that you have to. I still wish there was another less annoying way! 16:06 That sound effect was hilarious didn't pay attention to it before! 17:26 It was obviously a trap, even more so because it wasn't on the minimap. 17:59 It would be interesting to hear about it if there's an actual in-game reason for that phenomenon.
I like how they handled the whole Varia Suit thing. The blue X start off chasing you down, and then they keep doing that after you get the suit back -- it takes them a bit to realize the tactic isn't working anymore, at which point they start running away again. Also, the Varia-X _was_ using the Varia Suit. Core-X are normally weak to missiles, but the Varia-X reinforced its outer shell to render it immune to missiles (at the expense of being vulnerable to beams, but you can't exactly have a boss that's immune to _everything_ ) Also, yes to a Zero Mission playthrough.
You should do a playthrough of zero mission, because that is what i want, and am in no way being extorted by certain editorial staff members into requesting Prim... I mean Zero Mission.
100% YES to a playthrough of Metroid Zero Mission
I absolutely second that! 🖤
Me too
Ditto
1000% yes
Yes please.
“What’s the trap in here?” 10 Arrows
that had me rofl
Zero Mission is great, definitely do it.
You should 100% do a playthrough of Zero Mission... randomized.
Thats gonna be a nightmare
Randomized, inverted, backwards
10 ARROWS
Has that been randomized?
Yes do a lets play of Metroid Zero Mission
That missile tank edit was so good lol
and a Zero Mission playthrough would be sick. It would be awesome if you played it on stream/youtube
I would totally watch and rewatch a Zero Mission playthrough.
Having X Parasites mimic power ups is fucking sinister. I love it.
Does that mean powerups are an organic item?
@@YoshiLikesFate It would make sense, given that Samus seems to generate them from a discrete energy reserve rather than carrying a couple hundred on her.

Well I'm sure at this point they've seen chozo technology enough they can actually recreate it and bububububu
That was honestly the first thought that went through my head right before he said that.

I really need to play this (or Zero Mission) again myself.
edit: To answer the question, I'd be totally down for a Zero Mission playthrough.
I’ve never played a Metroid game (except for like 5 minutes of Super) and really want to after watching this series. I’ll probably start with Zero Mission.
@@averytubestudios Zero Mission is a good starting point since its basically a remake of the first game with a little bit extra at the end.

There is no such thing as "Too Much Metroid", especially when it's Zero Mission.
Yeah, for sure another metroid
The one thing I don't like about Fusion is how difficult (if not impossible) it makes for you to backtrack for secrets.

Metroid Zero mission playthrough? BRUH do you even need to ask!? YES! 100% YES!
Absolutely down for more metroid after this metroid

Metroid is so undervalued by Nintendo. I'm always happy to see metroid content.
