    This was on the radio back in the day! Gary Richrath was the real deal on guitar. RIP Gary. Kansas City has bragging rights to portions of this live album were recorded at Memorial Hall on Halloween back in the mid '70's! This album was huge not only for this song but many others. I have some found memories of this album playing in the background back then, but a gentleman never tells:)

    I've been waiting for someone to react to this song and Asia and BJ never disappoint. Gary Richrath was self taught and the result is a very unique style and sound that is very difficult to replicate. The solo in this song showcases his talent very well. One thing I would recommend is listening to it again and focus on Gregg Philbin's bass line. It's just as crazy. Sadly, neither of these two legends are still with us.

  • @bryansimmons4550
    @bryansimmons4550 9 місяців тому +2

    Gary had a recognizable, unique style of playing that was dependent on his use of certain phrases, riffs, and "trickery."
    The more you listen to him, the more you learn to anticipate where his playing will take you, while at other times, he would throw you a curve, and take you somewhere else.
    He was a remarkable player who did not receive all the accolades he deserved, and it broke my heart to see him deteriorating physically as he aged. He was one of the guitarists I wanted to be, but never could have been in a million years.

    Gary Richrath was a guitar GOD! I am so happy you've discovered his guitar playing. Sadly, alcoholism sidelined his career and eventually gave him such stomach failure he died. In the 1970's, we had album rock stations. The D J's would play whole sides of albums, so we did hear this on the radio. ❤

    It's so good to see you guys again. Yeah, this was on the radio a bunch as people have said. And it was quite daring for the time. But this life performance has become iconic; it's just so compelling.
    Another live one that is fantastic and yet the studio recording actually is absolutely incredible, but it has a lot of the live Dynamics and a lot of answer back and call and Echo between the backing vocals in the league, especially near the end, also a fan-favorite, also a hit, Keep On Rolling.

    Damn, i'm just getting into these reaction videos. I grew up in East Peoria, Il. My neighbor was Eunice Ritchrath. Garys mother. My mom grew up & was best friends with his sister Sherry. Eunice was my babysitter. She was amazing & so proud of Gary. Her living room was full of gold & platinum records. Only met Gary a few times when he was in town, but he was super nice. He's the reason i started playing guitar. Very underrated! I think great mothers make great sons! She was great! I didn't have great father figures growing up, but i had some amazing women. Eunice Richrath is on top of that list. I miss them! Awesome reaction to a great band!!

    Believe it or not, this song was on the radio! Radio used to be so much better than today's version. Even back in the 80's and 90's this was played on a regular basis on radio that featured rock music. It's hard to play REO and NOT play this song. This one and Riding the Storm Out are among their best, Keep the Fire Burning being another. I still hear this song played on occasion on classic rock radio stations. If you liked this song you will like the others I mentioned as well.
