He is a natural who doesn't try, he just sings as easy as if he was just having a conversation with music..

The group you were thinking of was "The Rat Pack." It was composed of Frank, Dean and Sammy primarily.
I'm an avid Elvis fan. But when I started buying records I had at least ten Dean Martin records before I even bought my first Elvis 45. When he sang it was as natural as speaking. His two major influences were Bing Crosby and Harry Mills of the Mills Brothers.
I watched his tv show regularly when I was old enough.
I love his style of singing. Elvis was influenced by Dean. Elvis said something to the effect of "People call me cool. But man, Dean was the coolest cat."

Dean is one of the Rat Pack along with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, & Peter Lawford, the crooners who performed in Vegas. Dean was also known as a comedy duo with Jerry Lewis (Martin & Lewis). In addition, Dean is known for his recordings of favorite Italian songs like "Mambo Italiano" and "That's Amore" and his versions of Christmas classics are holiday magic like "Let it Snow". He was a heart throb, leading man, from the movies. He's a well loved GOAT!

My mom had several of Dean Martin's albums..the very first song I remember hearing by Dean Martin was: Memories Are Made of This.
Me and my mom enjoyed watching the rat pack..one of the things Dean Martin said during one of their shows was: I feel sorry for people who dont drink because when they wake up in the morning, that's the best they're gonna feel all day.
Dean Martin was also good in westerns and movies.
He also had his own variety show from 65 to 74.
Me and my mom would watch it together.
Those were the good ol days.

Dean Martin was such a smooth crooner with a nice relaxing voice. He was nicknamed "The King of Cool". This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs such as "Everybody Loves Somebody", "Ain't That A Kick In The Head?", "Memories Are Made Of This", "That's Amore", "You're Nobody till Somebody Loves You", "Sway", "Volare" etc. Dean Martin was also part of the famous Rat Pack in the 60's along with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. & others.

Sounds like the 40s to me. I absolutely love Dean's voice. His biggest song was Everybody loves Somebody Sometimes. Your Nobody till Somebody Loves You l, Houston, Volare, That's Amore Return to Me are al very good songs. Hope you react to more. His variety show was,so popular in late 60s NBC paid him 50 million for 3 yrs.

If you like Dean Martin, you should check The Mills Brothers! Dean borrowed a lot of his act from Harry Mills. There are videos of Dean singing with them and his admiration of Harry shows. Great stuff from an older time.

Smoothe. Great voice. Him, Sinatra and Davis were a trio with great popularity. They also were actors. In my opinion Sammy Davis was the greatest talent of all time he was fantastic dancer, great voice, exceptional impressionist, great comedic timing, can play multiple instruments well. These three were part of the "Rat Pack", which also included Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop. Not really a musical group but did entertainment audiences together. Very popular.
Steely Dan - Peg, Babylon Sisters, Kid Charlemagne, Black Cow, Show Biz Kids, Only a Fool Would say that.

Asia and BJ this is a popular song written by Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson in 1922. This song first debuted on Broadway "PASSING. SHOW OF 1922. What Dean is doing is early "Dixieland Jazz" style. Think top hats and hoop skirts

Always enjoy seeing your reactions. Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra sang a song called Marshmallow World. It was on a Christmas show, but it's not a Christmas song.. It makes me smile every time I see it. They are acting so silly and they also do a bit of harmonizing. Be sure to watch the version with both of them. Hope you like it, if you watch it.

LOVE this song! I prefer the Judy Garland performance of it but Dean's is so happy and up it's hard to argue against it. The song was actually written in 1922 for the Broadway musical "The Passing Show of 1922" by Gus Kahn (a biographical film was made about him titled "I'll See You in My Dreams" (the title of one of his biggest hits) ) and Walter Donaldson.
Dean Martin was one of The Rat Pack whose primary members were aside from Dino-Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford and they often performed together especially in Las Vegas during the 50's & 60's.
