Considering the parallels between Elsa and Riku, Sora actually helping her overcome her inner darkness the way this theory describes would make a lot of sense considering the game's themes
Yeah, after playing the game this made so much sense. You might like this video btw ua-cam.com/video/LA9ge1KQWqo/v-deo.html
Honestly I was hoping Riku would have been the one to go through Arendelle instead of Sora because I was excited by the concept of Riku talking to Elsa and saying "I know what your going through because I've been there." (or something to that effect), but if this theory is true that would have been almost as good a story.
Woah when you put sora and riku together, just realised no game no life characters also have the same name
@@devilord3271 lol I wasn't trying too deceive anyone, this is just the account that I watch videos in. Sorry if I wasted your time but hopefully you enjoyed the video. Have a nice day g ❤️
i agree and at least the game acknowledged that to an extent. Matpat kind of made it seem like the frozen world added nothing to the story and while i see what he means they did bring up the similarities between Anna trying to save Elsa and Sora from when he wanted to save Riku. it was a one-off thing but so was the tangled comparison so i felt that he shouldve at least mentioned it
This is too good. I’m now accepting this theory as Canon and rejecting the actual game level.
same
Much like the Creepers are Plants and Rosalina's lineage, I will add this to the game theories that are more likely to be true than not true.
Me too. I was SUPER disappointed by the Frozen world in Kingdom Hearts 3 and would have absolutely LOVED this version of the world.
One of Matpats theories that are most likely true, but will probably never be confirmed.
Yep
Disney: "Our movie is about an internal struggle and familial love"
Square: "Sweet, that's our speciality; we can make an arc where that shines through, no problem."
Disney: "No, actually, you can't."
Ironic. In Disney's quest to keep the characters and franchise lovable, they ended up DAMAGING said characters and franchise.
what?
Disney pretty much screwed up. It wouldn’t have mattered if Elsa was a villain in game considering she is sort of treated as one in the film. Plus acting as a role model for girls should mean that young girls should be inspired by her and act like her(minus the running away from home)
@@ps4pro668 Funny thing is, if they allowed Nomura to use the story he wanted, which is that Elsa is conflicted about her powers, was corrupted by the peer pressure caused by organization XIII, and was rescued by loved ones, that would send a powerful, but positive, message about not only the dangers of peer pressure but also how valuable genuine love is.
Sir your likes are 666 Scarry NumBEr
Elsa being a wolf also makes sense. There is the classic image of a lone wolf, but wolves usually live in packs. Elsa literally runs off to be a lone wolf, but it is her family, her pack, that brings her back and shows the good in her.
That makes so much sense
@@jackotherstar Thanks
I’m a year late but the fact that the wolf is “Skoll”. Them having a sibling wolf “Hati” would’ve fit in so much better with Anna being there.
also big bad wolf = not really big bad is always fun.
crack it😡matpat crack it funny 🤭😀
They could‘ve made Hans your team member, befriending Sora & co and then turning out to be a (ice) wolf in sheeps clothing, much like he pretends to be a classic disney prince type, while having more cold hearted plans. Here he could be manipulating Sora, on Larxenes behalf, into hunting Elsa down at her castle. It could be a sort of callback to Soras almost fall to darkness and often playing into the villains hands. In the end teaming up with Elsa to take him down (also could explain the marshmallow sacrifice in the final fight) and becoming more smart/observing of who to trust and who no to as a moral in the end.
That sounds awesome
The problem is Sora has a sixth, seventh, and eighth sense for knowing who not to trust at this point…on top of being a provocation magnet (villains are prone to antagonizing him)
@@notproductiveproductions3504 true... This would have worked on KH 1 Sora. Maybe 3D Sora as well...
That sound so smart
*2015:* "The Disney teams are helping out with the game? AMAZING!!!"
*2019:* "Uh, maybe that wasn't such a good idea after all."
Yeah, Arendelle opened up with a lot of potential, but it felt empty the moment I realized it didn't really amount to anything. Larxene really got my hopes up, especially because if anyone was up for the job of tormenting beloved Disney characters, it would be her. Also, I think that the exploration of Elsa's character in the way that MatPat described would have strengthened her instead of hurting the brand. After all, wasn't Elsa made to look like the villain towards the end of the movie, and for similar reasons?
Ideas always get cut or repurposed when more than one team are working on a game, it's just how game design works. That's why Metroid Prime 4 had to be completely scrapped and restarted.
At least Nintendo was brave enough to announce that the project would take longer in order to ensure that the game that comes out will at least meet expectations. Kingdom Hearts III on the other hand had no extra time to work with. My guess is that it was already an eagerly anticipated game, and no one was willing to push out the release date in order to ensure that every part of the game was amazing.
Alison Gilmour I’m actually hoping for some more DLC Disney worlds, just to make up for how many bad ones we got shipped in the release
@doom I doubt it honestly. I think the dlc will just involve main story content and additional areas.
This is old but I just now finished playing the game, so, I'd like to add something that I don't see anyone talk about, in the beginning of the level, when Sora speaks to Elsa, an ice heartless appeared, but instead of attacking, it went to her and kinda bounced a bit, as if waiting for orders, and what do Heartless do usually? Listen to whoever has the strongest darkness in the near vicinity...
wait, that's huge!
Wait, don't they simply obey the strongest person in the vicinity (exceptions for those like Sora and those who are exclusively fighting for the light)? Isn't that how Saix briefly controlled them in KH2? After all, nobodies are neither darkness or light.
@@jacobsmith4428 True, but as we see with characters like Terra and Riku you can wield darkness without necessarily belonging to it/being a heartless. It's definitely the easiest way, hence Xehanort separating himself, but if we assume all power in the Kingdom Hearts universe falls into the greater categories of "Light" and "Darkness" then it becomes reasonable that Saix's Berserker magic falls under the purview of darkness- while his power does come from the moon Kingdom Hearts gives off a much more ambivalent feel than either solely malevolent or benevolent towards our protagonists. In KHI, it defeats Ansem with the power of light but then opens the way to the Realm of Darkness, and in KHII and DDD it's all but flat out said Kingdom Hearts as an entity would have and did aid in Xehanort's plan to form the New Organization.
Oh my god... That's right I forgot xD

Game theory and film theory are the only ones that are brave enough to stand up to Disney

Lol yes
I'd PAY to see matpat and Walt, him self, fight over if Mickey mouse is a good guy or a bad guy
Yes he can and stand up to all most any movie, game dev, or show and not be mad at (yes I know there are still haters but the creators dont care that much)
Even the boss scene dialogue serves as evidence:
“Are you sure this is gonna help Elsa?”
“I don’t know, but we got to do something.”
Because GEE. Unless the ice wolf was indeed Elsa, I think it’d be pretty obviously helpful to her to help defeat a giant heartless that could attack the kingdom.

I watched this back when it came out after I played KH 3 and THIS would have been AMAZING. Frozen is so well set up to meld into the KH universe IF Disney had allowed it to go in this direction. I can't see how it would have hurt Frozen's image if handled well, which it more than likely would have been. I think a lot of people would have been impressed since it would have been a more visual and epic reimagining of Elsa's struggle AND it's rare that a "good guy" is shown in this way. UGH DISNEY WHY!!!
I think, based on the Star Wars sequels, that Disney doesn't really understand that usually conflict & imperfections are what make for a compelling, iconic role model. They simply can't allow anyone to see or think anything bad about their prized characters.
Disney was going to the beginning of the dark side around that time.
In the end teaming up with Elsa to take him down (also could explain the marshmallow sacrifice in the final fight) and becoming more smart/observing of who to trust and who no to as a moral in the end.
plus if they did let it happen,it would've shown how deep Elsa's story goes, which actually would've improved opinion on the movie and would've given it deeper meaning, and it would've let Frozen fans sympathize with her more and develop her character as a whole instead of leaving it at just an ice lady singin a song
It was also the ugliest level. Everyone in it looked weird and unfinished to me.
Though I'm pretty sure thats cuz the entire budget went to the Pirates world which looked absolutely amazing XD
Still, i hated Frozen before this game, and the game did it no favors. With the way it could have been, maybe I would give it a little more respect than what i currently do. But as it is. Its just an annoying mess that i wanted to get over as quickly as possible.
It would have been a much more positive message to young girls that our greatest flaws can become our greatest strengths. And that its never too late to make amends and seek redemption for your mistakes.
Honestly, not just young girls, but everyone needs to hear that. I haven’t played kingdom Hearts 3, but with everything talked about in this video, I’m glad I didn’t. Because I would much rather have had what should have been, than what was.
And how many LITTLE girls play Kingdom Hearts?!
For reeeal.
Like, Terra from the 2003 Teen Titans burned herself into my psyche for that very reason - she’s an interesting, complex character who messes up and has to redeem herself. It meant a lot to me as a little girl to see a not so perfect hero mess up and then make up.
Love me some redeemed characters, be they heroes who messed up or redeemed villains.
A real shame... I honestly think your theory is right. This would have made the world infinitely better, even if we still had to deal with the songs.
Sircreepington9th As soon as I finished the level or even heard it was gonna be in it I knew Disney would have A LOT of restrictions on it
@@jeffjeffsss6159 they probably also did not want one of their only female heroines as the bad guy in the new environment we are in irl, especially the 3 _male_ protagonists of this game. It was probably a good idea to change it, but made too late too late to allow for a complete level redesign.
I absolutely HATE it when a group of executives with no artistic experience or know-how attempts to influence the making of a game. I understand it's their property, but you need to be all in, otherwise you shouldn't have bothered in the first place. You just end up with a mediocre experience that could've been great.
800th like on this comment
SmileyBones Like KH3 itself. BOOM!
I love at the end of the level, you are dropped into a non sense battle with a giant ice wolf ( which is actually an awesome boss fight) and Goofy says in a dubious tone, "Sora, are you sure this is gunna help Elsa?" To which he replies "I don't know... but we gotta do something..." As if to sum up what every one playing the level was thinking at that point.
Coming across this comment I wonder if it also means that dialogue wasn't altered. If they are fighting a heartless boss Elsa and Goofy asked Sora if he thinks this will help her and Sora says he doesn't know. That would make sense.
If hans was supposed to be the actual villain I would've though of a fire snake of some sort
"Are you sure this gonna help"
"I hope so"
Basically lmao
Speaking of which I was playing that game recently and I just finally beat the Frozen boss
Took me a year but I got good and beat it
"Sora was actually Xehanort the whole time."
The fun/sad thing is that it would be easier to prove Sora isn't Xehanort considering how literally everyone else in KH is Xehanort...
Did you know that the player is also Xehanort?
Might want to play the mobile game
I absolutely agree with this. It made sense that they were gonna have Elsa be evil until we defeat her. But I think Disney didn’t want their top property represented like that
This would explain why Elsa never joins your party either...
Or Anna or Kristoff.
I am not going to like to leave it as 666

@@samuriecooper1005 what are you saying what the hell
I actually think "Dark Elsa" would be an even more compelling role model for girls than the clean Disney version because it shows that girls can be whoever they want to be and that their actions have consequences that can do a lot of damage both to themselves and others if they act recklessly or with hostility.
Life is full of good, bad, and gray, and they should see how their choices can decide that ending.
Sean Rho EXACTLY!!! It would’ve been even more educational!
Oh,but that would be the old way Disney would tell messages, you know,by telling actual stories and teaching how harsh the world can be and teaching them how to overcome that, nobody would like that, nowadays Disney just plays some songs to keep your children quiet and tell them that the world is just roses and rainbows while they grab your parents's money, isn't that more fun?
GameStart just a simple youtube channel ha implying disney hasn’t been beautifying and smoothing all the rough edges away from every single property they’ve gotten their hands on since snow white.
@@beebs4283 I didn't said that,I said that their stories still teached them how rough the world can be,have you ever watched their classic version of Cinderella?Yeah,it's a thousand times less brutal than the original, but still, the whole story(the disney classic) wasn't one of the happiest stories of all time,Cinderella still suffered in her life, doing all that hard work that eventually paid off in the end.
@Perrin Smith No, I mean 'dark'. 'Grey' assumes she is neutral and does a little bit of good and a little bit of bad or not-so-good. Many people can be considered grey. The Elsa described in the vid tho where she does all that villainy stuff is not neutral, so while I wouldn't label her as 'evil', her negative actions push the needle past gray and into 'dark'.
Square: Buzz is completely out of character overly negative toward Sora and his friends and in the end becomes evil.
Disney: Sure, go for it.
Square: Elsa's inner daemons corrupts her and in the end she becomes evil

Fun fact. Her Japanese voice actor also voiced Aqua. So Anti-Aqua is really coincidental.
This is a theory you just KNOW is 100% true. It is just so painfully obvious. Disney and their meddling knows no bounds.
THIS THEORY IS A SHAM. Elsa is supposed to be a NEW princess of heart which are supposed to be entities of pure light. Kairi is also a princess of light. In KH1 kairi creates her own nobody (namine) but not a heartless. Sora does create both in the same occasion. Elsa would have no darkness in her and could not be a villain. Mat Pat, you wouldn't explain the lore because if you did this theory wouldn't hold up. I am sorry but every time you touch kingdom hearts you mess up...
@Andrea Piccolo At this point I don’t know what your doing with your time
My thoughts exactly. This is exactly how it feels!
@@andreapiccolo8199 That comment is so dumb yet enraging that Alex Jones pissed himself.
@@andreapiccolo8199 Uhm. KAiri did lose her heart though in KH1. Remember the opening bit of Destiny Islands? Namine was created because of that loss of heart. We don't know what Kairi's heartless would look like, but it's possible we've already killed it - if you look at Sora's heartless... it was just one of the most basic.
Man I wished Matt would do more KH related content. He is the master of theories and we need someone like him in the KH community. I mean Iam very glad for someone like HMK as well but Matt covering KH would be so interesting. And considering he did around 50 episodes for FNaF I think doing some episodes on KH wouldn’t be too much to ask. But I still do understand his arguments against it.
I agree with you. I actually thought he did a bunch of theories, but I can see the franchise is very large and maybe confusing. (I need to make more research)

That mouse is like 90 years old now. He's completely barmy.
Oh my god I SHOULD HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT MYSELF I literally said while I was playing through the ice labyrinth, 'how on earth did Larxene make this? it looks exactly like Elsa's ice architecture? this makes no sense??' and when I approached the ice palace later on, I said 'why on EARTH can't i explore the palace?? that is literally the one thing i was looking forward to'. But hearing you piece all this together, it just... makes SO MUCH SENSE.
Dude, same! I remember larxene "controlling ice" and as a big Org 13 fan way back when, I was like "how??? Is she doing this???? She is electricity??????"
The funny thing is I thought that Larxene put to sleep and that they woke up in the ice palace. I mean sure is not weak but making a palace. She is either a lot more powerful than I thought or something funny happened
I know right , I felt the same . The ice labyrinth and Larxene controlling ice Xb .
@@reeba4824 Ice isn't even a good conductor of electricity! And even if some extra abilities carried over from what she was able to do as a Keyblade wielder (which she doesn't even remember), very few if any Keybearers have any form of telekinesis.

This. This may be one of your best theories ever and I accept it as fact. I thought I was the only one who was confused by the Frozen world!
I'm with ya there pal. I almost threw my controller when Elsa burst into song.
I was literally so confused with the purpose of this world; I think it may have even been more "cool" to include the town of Arendelle itself, but maybe it would have looked too much like Corona. I felt like something was off-putting, and this theory he made makes a LOT of sense to me, especially the light and darkness both being in a host like a Disney princess.
@@AaronBirdVA I felt like this level was forced fan service to get frozen fan boys to buy the game, just to sing let it go.
Maybe because it was the actual intention of the story
I completely agree with OP
10:01
Elsa was the original villan of frozen but when they made frozen, they figured that the song was her feeling free of her responsibilities as a queen, so they realized she worked better as an anti-villan
Then they added hans
So yep
Edit: i just realized he made the connection of elsa being the bad guy
Oh well
Well that would explain Hans's half-assed reveal as the twist villain. Everything made sense now.
Just add an any% Elsa castle run to the speedrunner leaderboards and they'll find a way through that invisible wall into the castle.
This theory makes me sad and angry. I would've LOVED to play this version of Arendelle. Thanks alot, Disney...
Me too, it was the weakest world in it.
Same
Yeah, completely agree.
Would have been a great story line, but it doesn't make sense though. If there was continuous feedback between Disney and the dev team they would have really quickly vetoed the idea of Elsa being the boss. I mean that's very core of the level design so there's no way they wouldn't have received push-back on it until all the level design was completed. Good news if there were spoilers though, maybe they could release an update or DLC showing the true story a month or 2 after the release of the movie.
well...i still love the claws i get from there v.v
but yeah...it was boring
I'm choosing to believe this because it sounds like something Disney would do and the team behind Kingdom Hearts, for as convoluted as they are, has never been that sloppy
I mean they did it with Spiderman so I agree with you
1000% agree. It is pretty clear that disney had their hands in this one. I remember my first play through. Basically just wanted the story (was a young teen when the first one released). My MOST hated world was Frozen. I enjoy the movie, the "lore" is interesting, and really...it was just well done. The world felt really choppy playing it through, and all sorts of wack. This does explain it.
@@jcperez6463 Disney ruins all.
Well, now the wolf fight makes a lot more sense, especially in KH lore.
'There is a light and a dark wolf fighting against each other inside of everyone, and the outcome of that fight depends on which one you feed.'
Yup, this is canon now for me.
Yes, especially the ice palace that makes no sense in the actual game
Huh. Sounds like a quote from the movie the New Mutants. Instead of wolves though, it’s bears.
My favorite thing about MatPat is that he portrays Mickey Mouse as the pure embodiment of evil
i mean, in the game he has a lot of information about the darkness so
How much you wanna bet that Corporate Mickey is just Mickey's Heartless / Nobody?
MatPat is really salty
It makes sense for the signature icon of Disney to be evil to represent the terrible choices made by the management. They've successfully tarnished Marvel, Star Wars, Kingdom Hearts, The Theme Parks, and now Indiana Jones. The magic that kept Disney alive for decades is now replaced with a political agenda and is falling apart.
@@SpideyfanX If they do that in Kingdom Hearts 4 that would be a genius bit of self-deprecation
This makes so much sense. That level was so disjointed and Hans as a boss was random. I definitely think that ice Palace was meant to be Elsa's place. Damn, we really missed the chance for a cool story
Well he was random in the disney movie too, so at least there's some consistency...
Was that pun intended?

The Elsa's ice palace was the best proof that the story was meant to take a different path. Nice job game theory 👍🏻
They should have a director's cut for Kingdom Hearts III and make this available.

On top of everything else, there's one piece of KH lore that makes this even more plausible: Larxene specializes in lightning magic, not ice.
This, this, 1000x this! When I saw her start to manipulate the ice I just thought "Wait, ice is Vexen's thing? So she can just do that now???" It felt so jarring for that to just suddenly happen.
Like she said. "Ice is so not my style."
Also as a side note, Larxene is known to be one of the most conniving manipulators of the organization. She would be the perfect one to turn Elsa in to being evil. I have a feeling much more dialogue may have been planned between the two but was shut down with the rest if the level.
And reality of all, KH Dev team isnt this sloppy. As convoluted as the story is, it does line up...minus a few things (Cant understand how Aqua, Ventus, and Terra never aged...). But as far as plot and what not....Frozen doesnt fit.
legendarydante3 actually it’s explained how they don’t age with the exception of ven, Aqua doesn’t age because time works differently in the realm of darkness than in the realm of light and for Terra it’s implied because xehanort split him into a heartless (ansem) and a nobody (Xemnas)
I don't understand how Disney expected KH3 to ruin Elsa as a rolemodel, considering the demography for which Frozen is intended, which also gains them the enormous revenue, are usually much too young to play and enjoy Kingdom Hearts. The idea to fuse Final Fantasy and Disney media was, for me, mostly a nostalgia hype back when I started playing them and it's not like it ruined the original either.
True, they weren't getting it. I hope they are stepping on Legos knowing that their meddling only made critics and fans hate them more. They are done for..
Disney was afraid because the story in the game was leagues better than what we got in the movie.

Also, it ties into the themes that Kingdom Hearts established about how Heartless feeding off of fear and hate, and not just a pride fueled power trip. Sora was turned into a Heartless but was able to change back in the first game, and Beast was able to do the same thing back in KH2, if you count a boss fight as him turning into a Heartless which the comics do. So Elsa could likely do the same with one of the most epic boss fights in the series.
Yeah, Disney demanded its levels to reflect those "big moments" in the movies. Pixar had no such limitation on the game creators, and Monster's Inc and Toy Story reflect that.
How stupid. Let the movies reflect the movies so the games can add something more to them.
The best way to get a good game from your title, is to not limit the people who know what they're doing and letting them do the fricking thing they're being paid to do!
In the future, Nomura should just make original worlds. I don't know what other worlds we will get. Obviously, we are getting a "world ends with you" and "original final fantasy type" world in KH4. If we do get Disney worlds in the future, I hope that Nomura will get more freedom
......or the Disney empire falls and the properties can be brought by Square, or by a company who isn't as strict as Disney. Either one works.
@@POIUYTREWQ62 No offense but using disney worlds is literally the unlikely gimmick that made Kingdom Hearts so popular to start out with. The sad thing is if Disney hadn't meddled they'd have had a heart wrenchingly beautiful story about Elsa overcoming her fear and taking control of her powers. Aka the movie
This explains the reason they delayed Kingdom Hearts 3 for a long time
having Elsa transform into a wolf also kind of makes sense if you take the expression of a lone wolf
Elsa tries to be alone and keep everybody away, just like a lone wolf would do
Yes! The symbolism of a lone wolf perfectly fits her struggle and need to isolate herself and her powers. Good catch!
Edit: That said, I think it'd make more sense for it to be *released* from Elsa rather than have her physically turn into the creature (that's what I got from the video anyways). After Marshmallow puts himself in harms way, that would be the last straw before Elsa would be granted the courage to overcome her own darkness and lift the curse from Arendelle (potentially destroying the ice wolf too since it would've been a representation on how she viewed her powers when she was at her lowest point).
Plus there's the story of Two Wolves - everyone has two wolves inside them, one is light and happiness and one is sorrow and darkness, the one you feed is the one that wins.
Theory confirmed, Disney got busted
It would be ironic if cloud somehow got thrown in as well considering that he was in his emo phase in kh2 where he was in cloudy *Wolf* clothes
I feel that Elsa would be a better/“relatable” role model if she actually dealt with her conflicts, turned “bad” and then realized her true potential of being good again. It would give her character even more depth and many people would take away from it that “Yeah, she obviously messed up by giving into her dark side but she was able to bounce back and right her wrongs once she realized her mistake.”
Disney really missed the ball on this one.
What is better? To be born good, or to overcome your own flaws and mistakes through great effort?
And this is why I flock towards Dreamworks more and more with every passing Disney title.
@@mondenkindqueen I like the second one, it makes for more interesting and relatable stories.

It’s actually his friend, FootOfAFerret.
Shutting down Else being a boss fight to be saved in her defeat was such a missed chance, not only as something interesting, but as a message to players. That it’s okay to struggle with feelings about oneself and that no one has to deal with those feelings alone. Disney missed out on such a good message to give in this game. Even someone as strong as Elsa needs a shoulder to lean on sometimes.
The whole wolf thing would also make sense of her character. She kept trying to keep herself alone and away from Arendelle because she felt she did more harm than good, making her sort of a lone wolf. This theory makes a lot of sense.
It's sad to think about. That story would in a way fall in line with the movie yet be "original" at the same time. The entire movie Else is figuring out if she's cold like her powers or if she can do more and be more/better. From what this theory goes into it would of felt like an actual Kingdom Hearts world. They missed out on so many good story opportunities. The fact too they cut characters bc they had enough original characters. The selling point of the game was the combination of the two franchises. As much as I love Disney's movies and shows, when it comes to them partnering up it just doesn't go well.

It's called "Disney is super overprotective of their biggest cash cow, so they won't allow Nomura and his team to do anything crazy with it." Except for the boss, Skoll. He's awesome, scary, and Hans's Heartless.
But as MatPat said, having an ice wolf as a Heartless for Hans makes no sense as he's from the Southern Isles. Even though it's cool it doesn't make any sense still.
@@Nagem1617 lol isnt that kh in a nutshell tho?
@@Nagem1617 Hans is a wolf in sheep's clothing, and despite his warm and charming face he puts on, in actuality he's a cold hearted man who only cares for himself hence the ice wolf design as pulling from the term lone wolf. Boom a better reasoning for Hans' heartless, and if Elise became a heartless she would've then in turn needed a nobody seeing as you dont just get completed from having your Heartless destroyed so if anything as far as a boss for Elise it would've been more akin to Maleficent from Birth by Sleep with Elise merely embracing Darkness rather than succumbing to the Darkness.

Doesn't make it true, but I think there could still be a conflict within Hans.
Some of his actions made little to no sense.
@@runningoncylinders3829 Nah I really don't think so. Hans was practically faking everything he probably did from the beginning of the Frozen movie.
@@runningoncylinders3829 Hans was never meant to be a villain. On top of Elsa originally being the bad guy, all of the other main characters make sounds that form the name Hans Christian Anderson. Hans-Christoff-Anna-Sven. You don't put that amount of strings to the main cast and make him a throwaway villain. His evil scheme comes out of left field and other then falling in love too quick and a slight mess-up in his love song with Anna, he does nothing to hunt at being a villain. I believe he probably was meant to fight Elsa one or two times, but in all likelihood the second time was because he thought Elsa killed Anna.
Marshmallow golem being an ally during the boss fight kinda links him with Elsa being that boss. Trying to help his Elsa 😢
7:14 come on you don't remember the iconic scene when Hans turns into an ice dire wolf
The only way to know for sure is to ask Numora himself. I wonder why no one has interviewed him on this yet. Someone should go do it or even write a letter on this to him. Also if it were me I would have the labyrinth be the basement of the Castle. One place though did give an idea for the Hans thing with the Heartless with it being possibly represented of how Hans's heart and emotions were as cold as Ice like Anna said and the wolf thing was of him being a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. “It would be easier for elsa to fall into DESPAIR”
WAIT WAS THAT A DANGANRONPA REFRENCE
Probably
IM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS! KH actually got me back into video games when I got into it (a few years late) when I got to college. And yes, the lore of KH is DEFINITELY very complicated. But I strangely understand it. I think it's because the lore in my own series I am writing is so complex. *wishes that one day my story could be part of film theory in the future when it's finally published and popular enough to be in film.*
It's so frustrating they did that. If this is true (and I have no doubt it is, because it makes too much sense) then why the heck did they scrap it? Yeah, to protect the image of Elsa for young girls, but do those young girls even know what Kingdom Hearts is? I didn't know what it was until I was out of elementary, and I still haven't played the dang thing.
@Allison Jenkins
Kingdom Hearts is marketed to both young kids and older veterans of the series that have stuck around since KH1. That includes young girls that have recently seen Frozen. You're one person--just because you haven't played KH or only heard of it after a certain time doesn't mean all other girls haven't. A lot of young boys and girls got into Kingdom Hearts when KH1 and KH2 first came out and still love the series to this day as adults because they've been keeping up with the story this whole time. Just look at all the fanfiction and fanart around!
KH is unique in that the way it's designed appeals to both causal players who couldn't care less about the details of the cheesy anime story about light and darkness and just want to play through some fun Disney Worlds, *and* the more serious players who get immersed in the story and original characters of the series, like Sora and Riku. KH3 doesn't do the best job at balancing that out because of marketing, executive meddling, and time constraints during development.
@@komarunaegi7460 I do understand that. I'm not saying that just because I hadn't played it doesn't mean others didn't. I just know that no one in my class at the time heard of it either. In a relatively small school system like mine had been, where everyone knew each other and talked to each other, none of the other kids ever said anything about such a game. The only game they ever did talk about were pokemon and other similar-like games. Yes, they could have heard of such a game and played it without any one's knowledge, that's very true. But to an outside perspective, (and one who cannot read minds) you have to assume they don't know about it unless it's confirmed otherwise.
And I do agree that it's an amazing game, if I had money to buy both the counsels needed and the game, I would definitely play it instead of watching others do so. I wish I did hear about this game growing up, because having something that evolves and you are so invested in and is still around when you're an adult, that's something that doesn't happen often, and it's always really neat to look back on both your past and the games, and see how far both of you have come.
Not to mention, if anything it would reinforce that image. I mean, who sounds like a better role model? Someone who toed a line between good and evil then chose good or someone who chose evil then changed their mind after what they experienced?
The old story would in my mind have worked much better than what they did.
Maybe because the studio was afraid of media backlash.
"Kingdom Hearts 3 Sexist: Queen Elsa made a villain and later saved by a man. Interview with creators Mar 24 7am PST."
Lol funny but realistic right lol
Before the official reveal, the idea of Maleficent being in the world influencing Elsa was a very nice concept.
I would have loved a reference to the original plan of Elsa being antagonistic. She'd go into despair at the end and become a boss fight. It would be somewhat of a parallel to Sora saving Aqua later on.
That would also have given Maleficent more relevance. She and Pete were just kind of...there.
Rebellious Treecko side note, that aqua fight was amazing. An Elsa fight would be amazing as well.
And the trailers all had this one central theme of “KH3 is going to have a dark story now,” so Elsa having to show more of her bad side would be giving the consumers what they are expecting story-wise.
XxLeo _ Lionheart yeah and Nomura had said in the lead up to the game “it’s the darkest entry in the series” then we asked about it much more recently his thoughts were basically “eh so it’s not gonna be THAT dark, honestly it’s got many lighthearted moments”

I think the difference is that Beast isn’t a character that’s supposed to be look up to. He literally kidnaps two people, and he’s a dick most of the movie.
Frozen 2 is coming out relatively soon, so with KH3 being the "latest" outing for the Frozen characters, it would be something people remember seeing which could affect potential future sales of the sequel movie.

You know that Kid that always wears hoodie and shorts even if its - 20°C? Thats him
To be fair, it is commented on a few times that he's cold, but his happy go lucky nature has a tendency to make him forget things like freezing to death because he's caught up in the moment. No one has ever claimed that Sora is the smartest protagonist out there, and even in series itself people have pointed out that he's not the brightest person in the multiverse.....
Seriously Matpat and mouse have a very very VERY harsh history
Matpat makes A LOT of valid points and Disney prides on Frozen but also what people forget is that KH3 was constantly delayed so they had to meet what Disney wanted in order to make the game and make sure they game wasn’t overly delayed
That ice labyrinth also doesn't make sense for another reason, Larxene doesn't have ice powers at all, she has lightning and electricity based abilities so how could she just make an entire labyrinth out of a material she has NO CONTROL OVER?
i think the implication was that the ice block that was broken turned into the ice maze that they go through, which makes no sense for multiple reasons.
Yup. It made no sense as I played it. Not to mention the power to create a massive citadel is way outside the power of most of the members.
She even explicitly says that ice "isn't her style," but she can somehow turn an ice wall made by Elsa into this labyrinth with lightning?
Pretty much everyone I know agrees that the labyrinth makes zero sense.
Well, she has been Norted, could grant her additional powers.
No one has just potential for one magic. Plus she once was a Keyblade Fighter, so theres definitly a chance that she can cast Ice magic, but at some point she choose Lightning couse it fits more for her fast battle style.

TrevorCraft and have a bigger impact and lesson to people. But, y’know, Disney thinks kids need to try and be perfect role models : x Which isn’t at all harmful to those who do struggle woth ”darkness”. Not that they’d need role models or characters that show them how to become ”heroes”.

It really is a shame they fucked up this story so some kid wouldn't get their feeWwingS HwuUrT 🙄
Ok, I kinda get why they might have chosen this. But I also wonder if maybe it was a hasty decision that the Disney people didn't really think through. Also, perhaps it was the timing of when the Disney writers made the decision that caused them to reject the idea. Perhaps if the decision had been made later on it'd have gone differently.
Ive been playing this game my whole life and I thought this from the minute they said Frozen would be in KH3. I always thought they would do the internal struggle with Elsa and have a battle of sorts (we have done this before with beast) and then have another battle with the actual villian of the game. The one thing I miss from kh2 is going through a 2nd time to the worlds for a second story. This theory was amazing and I totally thing it’s got some gas behind the pedal. As a fan of KH I felt that would have for sure been the way of telling the story but when it wasn’t I was disappointed but let it go. I always felt like Hans just came out of nowhere in the actual movie itself, like he wasn't the actual villan to begin with
U r correct they actually felt they needed an actual villain in the film and didn't have the budget to recreate and entire film around them so Hans was given a third act character change. You can actually tell after Anna and Hans are done singing their song and Hans is left to himself with no other characters around. He simply stares at Anna leaving and smiles. Because he actually loves her and is so happy he even met her. This scene and the third act heel turn have no connection though and I felt they always made Hans the bad guy because they didn't want to make Elsa look bad. Which is bs it would've made her badass. #Hanswasscrewed
Originally, the story was meant to follow the old classic fairytale of the Snow Queen. When the song writer presented "Let It Go" for Elsa, the story writers realized they could make Elsa into a redeemable character. Which as an older sister, I'm glad for because I really heavily relate to Elsa. Disney actually got around that with Once Upon a Time. Sort of.
If you watch the Frozen storyline in Once Upon a Time, which was also produced by Disney and could theoretically be considered part of the movie universe as well despite being live-action, it is shown that Elsa’s aunt, and most likely biological mother although its not explicitly said but its pretty obvious, is someone called “Ingrid,” who is a lot more like the Snow Queen from the original story - though, in true Disney fashion, still not quite. But much closer to the original Snow Queen than Elsa ever was.
The original Snow Queen story, like the book, sounds way more interesting than the Disney adaptations. In the original story, the Snow Queen is an evil ghost witch that kidnaps a boy after a shard of magic glass turns him into a sociopath, and then his sister then has to go on a journey to find and save him. A journey where she meets things like a witch that has fire powers and, of course the one thing Disney would actually use, a talking reindeer.
