Just remembered a cool bit of trivia: John Jarratt, who plays handsome young love interest of the protagonist, later becomes nasty Mick Taylor in Wolf Creek.
The observation about Sleepaway Camp with respect to how uncomfortably effective and just plain uncomfortable the relatively young age of the actors makes certain scenes reminds me of Dario Argento's explanation for the oddly oversized sets in Suspiria: His original vision for the script was that the élite ballet academy in the film would be made up of girls from elementary school age through their early teens, and when his brother understandably pointed out that such a film would likely be banned in nearly every country on Earth and was just sort of ethically dubious to begin with, he decided to simply make the cast young adults but attempt to preserve some of that atmosphere by making things like the doors just a little too large, as if children were using them. Honestly, it makes the story make a lot more emotional sense, as it really does feel like a child's nightmare, or for that matter something like Edward Gorey's The Ghashlycrumb Tinies.
That’s a really good parallel, and I absolutely agree. Despite all the actresses in Suspiria being in their 20’s, it’s very easy to see how their roles were written for children or teenagers. It makes the grizzly murder scenes all the more grotesque.
@@dante_dagger He's brilliant in "Killer Klowns!" Plays an angry, small-town police officer (Curtis Mooney). I don't know his rank, but considering how disgruntled he is, I'm sure it's not as high as he thinks it should be. 😅
More great picks! Looking forward to what’s coming in tier 3
Thank you!!! I can’t wait to share!
Saw Curtains a long time ago, and of course heard of the infamous Sleepaway Camp ending. Still great, eager to see the next two tiers!
Out of this particular tier, Curtains would definitely be my favorite!

Oh wow, I didn’t know that! Funny how it switched up like that
Love Just Before Dawn, wonderful atmosphere and Brad Fiedel’s soundtrack is spot on. The Final Terror is another great slasher with a similar vibe!
Agreed! The Final Terror is great, very lowkey and ominous.
Gonna do a marathon of a few of these movies on halloween 👻💀 Very curious about the next two tiers!!
Hell yeah! I’m stoked to talk about them, there are some DEEP CUTS on there that I’ve never seen people really say much about

John Vernon (from "Curtains") was also in "Killer Klowns from Outer Space," "Chained Heat" and "Savage Streets." A true exploitation legend!
Well shit, I actually didn’t know that much! I haven’t seen Killer Kilwins from Outer Space since I was a kid, I’ll have to rewatch now.

LOVE NEXT OF KIN!
Very very very underrated. When I got it on VHS, it was a blank video with no case
Hope to see further content on 80s slashers, an underhyped subgenre.
Yes! Part three is in the works!
Thanks for the halloween movie ideas!!
also on halloween i’m gonna show my boyfriend and friends blair witch and see who shats their pants first
Love Blair Witch Project!
