I first played cdot as occultist in harvest and 5 more times since; it's one of my favorite archetypes in PoE history. Nothing compares to blasting with vaal cold snap, shield charge and frost blink. The vortex changes are unfortunate but I really appreciate all of the knowledge and effort you've put into your videos.
I you survive on Vortex then just modify your support gems which increase spell cast speed and cool down. Inspiration if needed. I use it for third placement.

I like how everyone thinks cold dot is dead because of the vortex change. It's not. And vortex being instant cast was terrible for dps and good as QoL (1 less button press). But we already didnt have vortex damage consistent, since it triggers on cooldown while moving. You have to go into melee range at the boss with vortex and keep doing it every 3 seconds. That's terrible and it wont happen consistently. So regardless, 1 more button to press is annoying, but at least we have vortex on demand now, which is better damage. That's a win if you change your setup a bit. Not to mention, spells are powercrept anyway, katabasis is more damage and 1 button press. Cold dot never dies.

@Vulgaels vortex is no longer gonna be instacast, its gonna have a cast time now, so you cant put it on left click to auto cast as you walk. It also wont have a cooldown anymore though so you can spam it now, but the its damage was severely reduced.
i dont get why they killed this build and let others more op ones alive. Was definitely fun to play and dmg wasnt that crazy. Dont agree with nerf at all.

Honestly just wait a bit, they are going to show the new gems in the next couple days, there’s a possibility that old vortex is still in the game
@@Diehardgamer2001 damage from DOT part is not touched, only hit based, and normaly u don't care about hit dmg in DOT build (not ailment)
