i love fudge tunnel, they have a lot of great albums, they basically all are great, i wish they were still together and made music, but what they made will go down in history
Discovering bad-ass bands back then was like discovering treasure each time- you had to know someone in the know or keep an ear to the ground, see the band live by chance , hear them on someone's mix tape, home stereo, or on late-late night tv (for their one or two video plays) and then spend the time and money to head out and find the physical album (or dub it off a friend). It made you appreciate the hell out of bands. I used to ride my bike several towns away to hit the local record store to buy stuff like this very album. Saw them live on this tour too.
I had a mate like that, constant source of new music that I would have no idea existed otherwise. He didn't play an instrument like a some of us did but I always said he played the Ears. He just had great taste and a good sense for quality bands.
It was the best feeling when you put someone on a band you really loved and they became a huge fan too and started turning other people on. It was one of life’s simplest pleasures.

This band sounds like the lost link between early Nirvana and Helmet. So many things were happening in music at the time, a very exciting time indeed: the SNES/Genesis war, Ren & Stimpy, Trapper Keepers, MTV cartoon shows, VHS porn tapes exchange at school... Oooh the good old times.
This band influenced my guitar playing so much as a teenager, still come back every now & again to get a wake-up call, just raw... Reminds me of bleach without the Beatles Esque pop element. fucking amazing

Tbh the early 90's prduced my favorite metal music. The destruction of hair metal and the dominance of Grunge brought metal into a much better place artistically with much more experimentation. Melvins, Fudge Tunnel, Clutch, etc Fudge Tunnel is a great example of this era.
Well, thing is Eyehategod started in '88. Melvins in '83. The Tunnel didn't begin until '89, and didn't rise to prominence until closer to the mid-90's. I'm sure some members of those bands you mention liked them though.

I was in a band called the Badtown Boys for a little while and when we toured Europe in @ '92 we played a show with Fudge Tunnel, in Holland I think, or maybe Germany. They were very good, but I remember them being dicks to us. We were _very_ Ramones-influenced melodic hardcore, so they dissed us.
