Fallout Lore: What Happened Inside Vault 21?

- Fallout’s Vault 21 was DOOMED all because of one HORRIBLE choice…
In Vault 21, whenever there was conflict, Vault rules dictated it be settled at the betting tables. Disagreeing parties would gamble against each other and whoever won decided how to settle the dispute.
The system was a complete success, until some residents got greedy.
In 2274, leader of New Vegas, Mr. House reached out and offered the residents reconnection with the surface.
Some refused, content with the safety and happiness they’d found inside the Vault. Others, however, were willing to risk it all for the possibility of what Mr. House might offer them if they agreed.
As they always did, they settled it with gambling. After a long game of blackjack, it was decided that Vault 21 would open.
But that turned out to be a losing bet.
As soon as Mr. House got access, he completely stripped Vault 21 of all its useful technology. Residents were evicted, suddenly homeless and the vault was filled with concrete.
Only the top level remained open, converted into a hotel on Mr. House’s glittering New Vegas strip.

99% of gamblers quit before they win big
This made me laugh, I won't lie
And in this case, lose big.
You mean 99% of gamblers go broke to the rigged games/never get their promised payout.
The biggest fucking lie gambling is like crack for stupid people with to much money
@@randomgaming9445it’s a saying that mocks the gambler mindset…
One of the rare times Vault-Tec didn't have to ruin the vault dweller's lives...

I feel like it’s not because they got greedy, but because the wrong people won a game of black jack
No, they also gambled against House with the Vault as the stakes.
It was greed... They wanted to win big but busted even bigger...
it was greed, yeah but House was planning on exploiting that greed from the beginning to get one over on Vault Tech so it was bound to happen regardless.
It’s because they used black jack in the first place why wouldn’t they have used poker lol
Kind of curious where millions of tons of fresh concrete was sourced...in an irradiated desert wasteland.
Knowing house he probably only sealed the entrances and left the rest of the vault intact, wasting tons of pre-war technology is kind of a waste
concrete relatively simple to make, and house is one of the smartest heads of his time, if he can keep his securitron army running, he could make concrete.
the quarry didn't always have all those deathclaws
You can actually get to some of the lower levels through bennys sub basement. It’s used when he needs to run away without people knowing.
It’s probably way easier to make concrete in an organic matter free mineral rich wasteland than it is to make concrete in a lush world. Concrete is pretty easy to make actually.
10,000 BCE: Earliest limestone structure
Limestone - also often called “lime” - plays an early role in the story of concrete, as the base ingredient in cement, and it’s been used for millennia. Predating another massive stone temple, Stonehenge, by 6,000 years, the Göbekli Tepe in modern-day Turkey was the earliest known limestone structure. Limestone made up the T-shaped pillars of this temple, which were built and carved by prehistoric people who had not yet developed metal tools or even pottery.
Caked up vault dweller right there
😭😭😭

my first thought
Can still remember the radio now:
"Vault 21! Because everything is better in a vault."
A thought, maybe Mr. House *claimed* to have filled it, while only having his robots pour enough to thoroughly block off the rest of the vault, just in case the need to access the rest of it came up.
Nice to know Vault 21 was a good safe vault to end up in
Wait, is this the Vault THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS (song by The Stupendium) is based of? I didn't even know it was a Fallout song!
Dude no. The house is a gambling term.
@@Alohamybrono he’s talking about a a fan song
@@TinyBearTim ooohhh ok whoops
Not the same Vault specifically but the same Mr. House, yep!
Mr. House isn’t a character FROM the vault, but the song is based off him
One of the reasons i disconnected that mfer left him alive though hahaha
How’d they decide over blackjack? Last player standing or something and what if the house won them. Does the dealer get to decide
Does that mean the people of free-side are the kids of the vault dwellers
No, Vault 21 opened quite recently, one if the Dwellers still lives there.
Wait a minute vault 21 used blackjack to make decisions 😂
you'd enjoy what vault 69 was all about lol
OOHHHH I didnt even think about that
@@mmgvii8076you sound like a resident of vault 68
@@the_jingo 😭😭😭
You make it sound like he just barged in after they opened up but I'm pretty sure Mr. House used their own gambling system against them in a game and won their Vault.
He literally says that in the video. You just have bad reading comprehension and/or don't listen.
@@AnarexicSumo Idk...
Going from *"Mr. House offered reconnection"*
to
*"Mr. House gains access and stripped the Vault"* is a bit extreme
he planned to do it before the bombs even dropped. the fallout show implied he was plotting while being offered the vault.
It wasn't the best decision, long-term, but it was a reasonable decision and it was handled per vault rules. Success.
Maybe the house doesn’t always win
one house lost the bet but another always wins
Sounds quite logical, considering that mr. House have a 10 L in S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats.
how do we know that
@@onatarslan3515 similarly we know that Caesar stupider than some animals.
You mean the "real" Mr House, in his special bed? Cos the guy on the screen is just a bit of scripted scenery. I could be wrong but I don't think he is a character with stats.
@@onatarslan3515 Simplest way? By clicking on him and typing "getav " in the console for each of the stats
An easier way to find all of them at once is to look up the NPC ID in something like FNVedit
Mr. House always rolls a nat20
I kept thinking filling a vault would be a waste ...but having everyone think you did and still have access to it underneath! well you cant put a price tag on that!
The House always wins.
Want to see the profits of democracy? Then go and see 'em
til the guy with the golf club shows up
Fun fact: the reason these experiments happened in the first place is because vault-tec was overtaken and ruled by a group more interested in human experimentation. Thus, only 12 vaults worked as they were supposed to and 122 vaults were experiencing these experiments
How can you make a decision with blackjack ? The house always wins (no pun intended) if you’d wanna make a decision off gambling you’d player poker because all party’s have a equal chance of winning
The Greg special for Vault 21 🎲
Vault 21 is the gambler's vault because it relates to Blackjack
Man. I need to replay new Vegas.
Lol I ones used a very large bean bag chain. Was not very warm.
Mr House wanted to fill the whole vault with concrete but Sarah managed to convince House to not completely fill it and to turn it into a hotel.
If Sarah wouldn't have done that then vault 19 would have been nothing more than a hole full of hardened concrete
Looking at the fallout show, it makes sense that Mr. House made at least one vault a gambling vault even if he wasn’t fond of the program.
Are there any good vaults

The thing is…. The game was rigged from the start
Uh Vault 21 was fine
Its why i dont gamble 😊
Gambling odds in new Vegas are changed by your luck
You don't gamble so a 200 year old man doesn't take your underground community and fill it with concrete? THAT'S why?
Everything New Vegas related is just a canon and is not a real thing in Fallout universe... The game does not even belong to the timeline since when the bombs fell, Vegas was one of the major cities that was flattened by them nukes so even if there was a vault, 0 survivors...
Except Mr house literally protected a portion of Vegas from the bombs. Maybe you should actually play the fucking game.
The house always wins
