Sophia, you and Scott are the perfect recipients for this family heirloom. Great job nourishing and protecting it. The extended family must have known, you will appreciate it and take care of it. Love the family picture of the original owners and how they are Scott's great, great great grandparents.
I know you will do an amazing job on dining room table.

Sophia , oh how beautiful!! You did a wonderful job. The pleasure you gained from cleaning and polishing this item was written all over your face. Truly, only people who love older, "Family Furniture" should have it, it should never go to a Family Member who does not appreciate the item. The table is also going to be a beautiful piece of furniture when added to your collection when you have finished it. Your choice of Music was also excellent. Such a great Video. Thank you.

So nice to see someone who appreciates antiques and things that meant a lot to long gone relatives. Beautiful piece and you did a great job on it. Nothing silly about it in a dining room at all. It looks good there and the chairs look very classy now.

Perfect music, Sophia. At 12:30 when you said it had been very well cared for for a very long time, and then the piano started, I had to imagine all the family members before you cleaning it too, and little children running around it - all the history it has been a part of and the stories it could tell. So special! You did a great job. It certainly fell into the right hands.

Fabulous, timeless beauty that looks right at home in that corner of your dining room against that red wall. This is a wonderful transitional historical piece that could be put just about anywhere and look beautiful, but the dining room seems to embrace it better than any other room. It's like this beautiful Victorian dresser came to life again. The potted plant with the long green stems add even more beauty sitting there on that beautiful shimmering wood against that red wall capturing the light from the windows. Can't wait to see what the Duncan Phyfe table looks like when you get done with that. I'm so excited!

It’s looking so fresh and gorgeous Sophia grand job and Scott will definitely appreciate all the care and love you took to preserve it and best part is it’s not only beautiful but oh so functional. Great surprise for both of you. I love the Victorian Era furniture style. Always strong and sturdy, built to last, not like the pressed wood style currently available that doesn’t last long. TFS 👍🏻👍🏻💜🦋🐇🥚🐣💕🎼🐊

It's beautiful Sophia!! At first I thought you were going to say you were replacing Scott's dresser with it and were just going to work on it in the dining room, and then I was like how will that work? but after watching it more and seeing it I could really see it as a buffet or a lovely wine bar and be more useful than it would be as a dresser since nowadays we have so much stuff!! I love repurposing my antiques as well, I have one of my grandfather's dressers (just a basic wood dresser) in my living room with all my clear glasses and some of the liquor that is in nice bottles on it like a bar area. Though, now that my kids are teens, I've had to put the liquor into hiding unless it's actually being used! I love it, and then in the drawers, I store some of my books! it keeps them from getting dusty and because of solid wood, it can easily hold their weight! While you do have a lot of heavier type pieces in your home, your love for them is always amazing, you never seem to take them for granted and really treat and respect the pieces like you would the people who have owned them! I am sure Scott's family is very proud that so much has ended up in your care!!

I absolutely love that you appreciate beautiful, well built furniture AND want to preserve it. I despise the “farmhouse” look that’s so popular these days. I don’t mind nicks in furniture. I actually love them, it’s personality, it’s a story. I can’t stand someone going in with steel wool to make something look a certain way (or worse painting antiques pink and yellow and then taking steel wool to it as I’ve seen a local shop do). I thank you for showing how you are restoring this piece to its glory. I would love to buy one similar and do the same.

my daddy after retirement and mother spent their lastyears in restoring furniture or selling antiques. They would go out to estate sales, auctions, etc. I went with them alot and learned alot. Moreso about the furniture not the glassware .My mother loved all the glassware. My father died last year but up until 80 he was still putting furniture in a booth they had. Once they had a store. I can tell you that you have a very fine piece of furniture. My dad would hvave loved to see this video. I do not think he would do anything to it though especially as its in good shape and any color variations are from aging which adds to its character. I love the hidden drawer for the rifle. But yes you are correct in that a bowl and pitcher would go in the center. I loe antiques of any kind. I got that love from my father and mother. I even like the white knobs, i know they aren't original but they really look well with the white marbble for contrast. Howards feed and wax is the best.. . A little goes a long way. When you restore the oil in the wood iit really brings back the original color and shine. You have a beauty, girl!!!!!
