I think my favourite is the 90's stuff. All of the Jim Balent run. Her having a solo series was fresh and new back then. And it's all so nineties. My fave Selina period though is the Caped Crusader one. I'd rather see her like that again. Amoral thief. The thief with a heart of gold has run it's life somewhat
Basically, people wants to be all liek "in this new run i want to make x character truly MINE" and then not really have any idea or just a weirdly formed one, so these kind of changes are Just because
He didn’t, though. Cooke created one of Selina’s all-time ugliest costumes. The purple catsuit, purple dress, Year One, Batman ‘66, Batman: The Animated Series, and Batman Returns are her best costumes.

*Catwoman Gets A New Costume* Wonder Woman: "When there's my turn DC?! Everyone had at least one costume change but I've been wearing my movie costume since 2017!"
I really love her 2017 outfit! I feel it combines her Greek warrior aspects, is made from leather (what the Amazonians would have access to), and has a style distinct to Amazons because they grew independently from man's world.
Oh, I just noticed -- in the comic, does Selina specifically mention having extra protection on her shoulders because of that shoulder wound? Also - total tangent, what's with the tiny tiny opening on that champagne flute? (10:24) Reminds me of when bars would serve shots in test tubes to seem cool. (is that still a thing? I haven't been out (or cool) in awhile)
She is an interesring enough character to carry a story alone without our boy Bats if it is handled well... So I hope this is good... Buuuuuuuut if they can squeeze our boy in somehow, I would not complain😂😂
I would have given Selina goggles, you know, the kind with night-vision, and that allowed her to see invisible lasers or detect hidden cameras. Selina is cool, she deserves some gadgets; no "catmobile", though.
It's not bad but honestly nothing will ever top the Darwyn Cooke design and era for Catwoman for me. After that, my favourite design is the '90s purple Jim Balent design.
Gonna miss her Joelle Jones costume, she made a very memorable suit that takes from a athletic wear aesthetic, to light shoulder armor and a bigger open chest window. Those other options are also really good, if she was Emma Frost, she'd rock them all in every other issue. Catwoman has so many great costumes, or unique costumes that aren't... Bad, but are something, like having a realistic car head over a dress, green Catwoman, or black and red 70's era.
I prefer the use of the censor bar to block naughty words (when restricted from using them, otherwise just use them). The grawlix feels more for use as a comedic tool.
Video idea! Could you potentially do a ranking of cat woman’s costumes? You could do a little fun fact about the appearance of each one before ordering them
Enjoying this new direction, both art-wise and being outside Gotham. That city can feel so much like its own world separate from the rest of DC, so having characters have adventures outside the city ground it more in their shared reality. Catwoman is a perfect character to perform that function. I mean isn't Selina a thief? Plenty of banks and museums outside Gotham.
Based on the picture in the newspaper, Celina's dress apparently is like those license plate covers that supposedly turn opaque when a speed camera takes a picture. That or the photographer spent all night trying to get an angle that wouldn't get him fired.
I’m definitely hoping for a very noir femme fatale/burglar run. I love the costume but my favorite is still the whip and dress …mrrow! (Even if it isn’t practical for fighting or climbing) I do like the softer, more grounded look of this one and the wearing clothes over it.
The minimalist design I feel is meant to separate her from Batman. The addition of more would look like tech ingrained into the suit or a utility belt. However, a hint of a kevlar lining wouldn't be unappreciated. Still practical. I do think the goggles should've made it into the final images. I do like the shoulders.
Actually, when you think about it, why (other than marketing reasons) do heroes and villains not change costumes more often? I mean, it is clothing. Who always wears the same clothing? Villains, especially... why would they want to be identified? Doesn't that just make them easier to be caught?
Many of my friends dropped catwoman earlier this year and I was begging them to give this new run a try. The first two issues are definitely not disappointing for sure. The new costumes are great imo
I know that they were going for like like blending into backgrounds outfits but it doesn't really work if I wanted to make it look like a bend into backgrounds maybe make it look more like it suck I think about is the outfit Gotham that you could add a Catwoman master that in a solid good
You asked for opinions on grawlix vs censor bar... is "neither make sense to me" a valid answer? I feel this contradiction between "the audience is mature enough to know what this means" and "the audience is not mature enough to see this word" (especially in a comic that has featured several bloody deaths). I feel that if you cannot print a swear word, a good writer would be better placed writing it with alternate text so that there isn't a "fill in the blank" gap for the reader. Otherwise... just print the words and be done with it.
Since DC is reprinting classic stories in the DC Finest line I just find myself less interested in the contemporary books. Buying the classics feels like a more solid bet. These are tried and true stories and I’m reasonably sure they will be good. But the new stories are a toss up. So I love Catwoman but I’m more inclined to wait for the DC Finest Catwoman volumes.
I think this new arc looks like it could be a nice beginning for her, but I do prefer her and Bats playing off each other. i do admit their dynamic has gotten a little stale since it feels like that 1 Year break thing kinda got forgotten, but since the end of Tom King I do wanna see her get involved with Batman here and there. Hopefully we get a nice fun European adventure with maybe some Batman appear late next year.
She's the OG sexy villainess of post war comics. Maybe because she has the whole cat burglar culture to draw from. Marvel wishes they had a Cat Woman .
Thanks for this Video Sasha...You know what I would LOVE to see.??? A "Sasha" made Cat suit with NEW special Cat wig.! Sasha modeling it even BETTER.! 🤩👍 ( ummmm ALL DO respect to Sasha & Family.! 👍) traditional purple dress Bat-Cat.
Hey, Selina! A) Grow back your hair! No more Audrey Hepburn impressions! B) Give the jacket back to Canary! That's HER thing, not yours! I feel Selina is at her best as an anti-hero/anti-villain. She should roam the world having all sorts of adventures, but Gotham always calls her back. It's home.
The costume is middling to me. I like that you can kinda make out the texture of it and the shoulder things are cool and I like it overall but I'm not crazy in love with it or anything.
I'm SOOO into this! I love the art style, writing, and story direction! I love it when she interacts with Batman characters, and I love batcat, but I also love when she does her own thing. Although, there have been runs where she was doing her own thing and I reallyyy wasn't into it. Like basically all of the Joelle Jones' run with Villa Hermosa, Raina Creel, Alleytown, and Father Valley, I really wasn't into it. Tini Howard's run was pretty good, from what I've seen, but so far I've only read the first 6 or so issues. One thing thing that I'm not so sure about is Selina's costume design. And it has nothing to do with the shoulder cover/sleeves part, I think that's really cool, but I just don't like how flat the bodysuit part of her costume is. Like other than that leg holster and the whip attachment at her lower back, her whole catsuit is straight-up flat, with no design, lines, or texture. Like you mentioned in the video, I guess that's supposed to lean into a low-key/undercover/neutral outfit vibe, to blend in, but it's still just very plain design in my opinion. You know how yoga pants like lulu lemon have that type of texture or colour that's very flat and erases all shape or design? Yeah, it's like she's wearing that to me lmao. Anyways, I'm still very excited about everything else! I still really like the art style and direction for everything else. Catwoman is one of my fav DC characters. Awesome video too, very nice chat. I like your choice not to go super in-depth panel-by-panel, and to focus on more of an overview of the situation.
I prefer Catwoman as a cagey criminal...a seductive scoundrel...a voluptuous villain. I'm not sure how I feel about a targeted temptress. I'm sorry, it's hard to stop when you get on an alliteration roll, lol!
I'm never a big fan of exposed skin on Selena because she honestly doesn't need it. This costume would be okay if not for the shoulders. They are killing me
Issue 69 was perfectly fine. And an instant step up from the previous one. Which for me was a bit too 'men are bad mmkay' at times. Would have been more interesting if the girl who also took on the mantle had been a bad mobster herself. And it did then have an odd change of tone with that final story arc going so 90's. The narrative structure was an overused device but not confusing. But...fine. No more no less. Haven't read yet 70 but on the basis of this it looks as if I will be a bit more interested now. The identity theme sounds interesting. My eyesight is not great being red green colour blind and short sighted so I doubt haven't spotted that fade myself. At least now I know. So...not bad. Not essential. But not bad. I absolutely love one thing though. The logo. It's great. It looks really Grindhouse.
The comic is rated ages 13+ so they should be able to print 1 or 2 swear words without censoring it. If its a Black Label book or any book that is rated 16+ they should just print all the swear words. Censoring them in that to me makes no real sense.
I don't have a lot of emotional commitment to DC characters, so Catwoman taken out of Batlore intrigues me more than not. I like her in a grounded crime/espionage milieu far away from Gotham. About that new costume, tho...it looks a little too fragile for the grounded rough and tumble action of the story. Even Black Widow's catsuit had to be modified in the movies so that it doesn't look absurd in a fight scene. I know this is comics, but the suspension of disbelief takes me out of the supposed realism of the story. Not a deal breaker, though.
Hmmmm. I don’t like this new costume. Like it’s just so plain to me. Like not even in a practical it’s plain to be realistic way. It’s just plain as in boring.
Can't help but to feel they missed the full potential of the costume in not making the boob window into a cat's head, it just needs the cowl's bottom to be lowered to create the outline of cat ears.
Not a big fan of the costume. Nothing terrible about the design per se, but leaving it up to artist interpretation is iffy for three reasons: 1) Her (real) ears being visible invites artists to depict her similarly to the horrible Halle Berry Catwoman (which the All In cover does hard) 2) The low-cut top definitely leaves it open for some artists to overdo it with the cleavage. Design-wise, it's also a bit odd for stealth reasons for there to be a big field of brightness in the middle of her torso - skin or not. 3) We're already seeing different interpretations of those shoulders (from artists and readers) - are they just a textured element with a different material or is it full-on armor? My fave Selina period though is the Caped Crusader one. I'd rather see her like that again. Amoral thief. The thief with a heart of gold has run it's life somewhat
Hallie Berry version
90s. Nostalgia.
Costume-wise? The purple slit dress.
The Jim Balent Era
I haven’t liked anything that DC has done with Catwoman this century 😢
Didn't snicker until you pointed it out. Seems more realistic for Catwoman to have a whole wardrobe of costumes and accessories.
It really feels like Darwyn Cooke came up with the perfect costume for the Ed Brubaker run and we've just spent 20+ years cutting various holes in it
Basically, people wants to be all liek "in this new run i want to make x character truly MINE" and then not really have any idea or just a weirdly formed one, so these kind of changes are Just because
Hard to disagree with something that's 100% correct.
He didn’t, though. Cooke created one of Selina’s all-time ugliest costumes.
The purple catsuit, purple dress, Year One, Batman ‘66, Batman: The Animated Series, and Batman Returns are her best costumes.

That run on Catwoman was my favourite. Not just the costume, but also the supporting cast.
*Catwoman Gets A New Costume*
Wonder Woman: "When there's my turn DC?! Everyone had at least one costume change but I've been wearing my movie costume since 2017!"
They need to ditch that damned skirt!
@@dylry86 they need a skirt just not that one. Greek warriors wore skirts so it makes sense for her
@ Nah. She looks best in her star-spangled shorts.
I actually really love that skirt! It references what Greek warriors wore @@dylry86
I really love her 2017 outfit! I feel it combines her Greek warrior aspects, is made from leather (what the Amazonians would have access to), and has a style distinct to Amazons because they grew independently from man's world.
That dress - a rare case where the superhero outfit seems restrained and inconspicuous in comparison.
Selina always dresses in the most PAWesome looking CLAWthing lol
I mean it’s no Earth One “anime roller derby” inspired costume, but it’s good. Kind of mixed between Michelle Pfeiffer and Zoe Kravitz costumes
Sasha: I can hear some of you snickering.
Me: dang it
"Miss! Miss! Robert Matteson's snickering, miss! It wasn't me, honest!" 👉
@euansmith3699 I'd do it again
Oh, I just noticed -- in the comic, does Selina specifically mention having extra protection on her shoulders because of that shoulder wound? The new costume is so much better than the purple variant from the last arc. It tried to be Balent's costume but wasn't
Imo, there's a holy trinity of best Catwoman designs. Catwoman from BTAS, Catwoman from Arkham City, and Catwoman from Batman Returns.
All of them were my crushes version of catwoman that when I like blondes and black hair (not really )
I would have given Selina goggles, you know, the kind with night-vision, and that allowed her to see invisible lasers or detect hidden cameras. Selina is cool, she deserves some gadgets; no "catmobile", though.
The comic book clothing physics are on point here.
It's not bad but honestly nothing will ever top the Darwyn Cooke design and era for Catwoman for me. After that, my favourite design is the '90s purple Jim Balent design.
So glad they’ve moved past the exposed armpits
I loved the costumes wore by the Batman 66 Catwoman or Catwomen they were perrrrfect.
Sasha, "I can hear some of you snickering."
Me, "Is my microphone on?" 😲

i prefer the armpit windows. i tried it with tanktop and shrug, and it's pretty comfy
IF this Catwoman is on 1 side of this new 2-universe reality, I wonder if the catwoman from the Darker universe is like!
If she keeps wearing that dress people will start calling her The Flash. 😁......😒 I'll see myself out.
Perhaps she is wearing a c-string?
She looks a lot like Zola from Battle Arena Toshinden 3.
I was a fan of Ram V Catwoman but i jumped off afterward.
Always interested in whats happening though, just not interested enough to pay for it
HOLY DRESS SLIT!
I only have myself budgeted for one comic a month, so I haven't actually read this, but it looks great.
Please, make a video on the titans next!

I’ve been into Grønbekk’s Catwoman, definitely don’t need silly Batman to enjoy Catwoman.
Sasha's outfit makes me think she is subtly making her pitch to be cast as Catwoman.
The art looks amazing

Why does this make me think it could lead to a Powergirl lawsuit , even if Powergirl is no longer using the cutout look.
She's the OG sexy villainess of post war comics. Maybe because she has the whole cat burglar culture to draw from.
Marvel wishes they had a Cat Woman .
Marvel does have a Cat Woman. Black Cat.
They have Black Cat, she's probably an expy of Selina but I like her a lot.
Black Cat is close enough.
Marvel has Black Cat and every characters like Triga.
So about that....

This storyline with Catwoman has been done with her twice already. They should have checked to see if it had already been done with her.
Wow does Anne Hathaway get a check for this? Straight up stole her face for 70
Why do they censor out cuss words in comics but not in novels? And I think in some comics they're not censored at all, why?
I prefer Catwoman as a cagey criminal...a seductive scoundrel...a voluptuous villain. I'm not sure how I feel about a targeted temptress. I'm sorry, it's hard to stop when you get on an alliteration roll, lol!
I love it! Finally, something different and exciting ! She had become so boring.
Got to love ❤️ Catwoman

"She's not flat."
No. No, she is not.

I've heard Marie javins dislikes strongly certain ideas so I can only hope for a great costume but it's 2024
Great female costumes are dead
Hmmmm. I don’t like this new costume. Like it’s just so plain to me. Like not even in a practical it’s plain to be realistic way. It’s just plain as in boring.

Oh hey, mine was the 69th upvote, to match issue 69 of catwoman. Yay for coincidence and feeding the comment algorithm.

Career criminals bitching about capitalism... how nuanced and edgy..
Game recognizing game.
Dangerous drinking game, take a shot every time Catwoman gets a new costume. Tbh Geoff Johns' art of Black Canary through the ages (in all media) had quite a few, but most changes were subtle and largely unnecessary or new costumes. Also we don't need Selina to be another Power Girl, or to go back to the LoSH age when all female heroes had random outfit holes (take a look at Night Girl, Phantom Girl etc).
I think Catwoman's best costume is still the Cooke suit. The new one looks too much like something I would draw. Not 100% true, I add a belt and a looser jacket.
