If Mara was another name for a demon, then maybe Void Demon? Which can be synonymous of what Ballas has called the tenno many times, "Devils" of the void.
Thats the other main way that people theorized to translate it, since the sanskrit word Mara can be translated as demon. So "demon of the void," but my definition i think includes the narrative and cultural context of how the tenno came to be. But Ballas gives us narrative context too. Maybe the word will have multiple meanings?

22:23 that wasn’t an urban legend, Y2K was a real thing, the reason why there weren’t any big problems is because people took it seriously and programmers worked their asses off to fix these problems
So i was like 8 years old at the time. I cant say what programmers were doing. But the rumor of y2k destroying all the computers was definitely being treated like a ubran legend. A doomsday hypothesis that most people ignored as a silly superstition. My father had also worked with Arpanet and some of the earliest military computers/internets while in the airforce. At the time he was also treating it like a superstition. So my general impression was that it was a superstition created by people who were not tech savvy. And that the problem they can predicted dodnt have a basis in how computers functioned or tracked time. And that's what happened. Older computers still worked after 1/01/2000, and still tracked the time correctly, even without being updated. The clock rolling over to 0s didnt happen/ would not brick a PC.
@@SocraTetris I was a developer at the time and spent many, many hours reading cobol to solve y2k issues, I _assure_ you the reason planes didn't fall out of the sky was that the problem was taken seriously and hundreds of billions were spent on software changes, audits and hardware changes.
My wife returns to Warframe every so often and has tried explaining the lore to me. I had found you through some other game vids, so when I saw you drop this I told her we should go through your series! What an absolute treasure full of insightful commentary, the passion is very tangible.

Haven’t even started the video but I wanted to state for the record when Wally appears on the Vessel’s head it does the perfect embodiment of “Locking in.” 35:17
I was listening to this as background while I played the game, because it's a great way to hear some extra lore bits that I didn't realize, and the sudden Slide Into The Void parody completely baffled me at first. I was just passively listening to Warframe lore and then heard a beat I've heard plenty before. And honestly, a pretty good parody was a nice surprise
Sucks that the 1999 intro cutscene had to be copyright-ridden. I hadn't heard that song until the first trailer for Whispers was dropped and I've listened to it so many times since then. Of course, now there's a new one for us to listen to, one that I really like, but it doesn't hit as hard as Into the Void
It was so funny how I was exposed to this song. Because the trailer was the first time i heard it. But then a week later my wife plays the song for me to discuss the lyrics. And i say to her, "Oh, the Warframe song! Did you overhear me playing it and look it up?" And she's like, "... No? What?" So we listen to the song. I'm telling her are creepy accurate to warframe it is. I show her the trailer. And then i see "Into the Void" by Stupendium show up in my "watch again" search results. (Listened to it a lot as Control was coming out years ago.) That's what sparked the idea. I pivoted from using Nowhere King from Centaur World as the theming, and started making the parody song. Still ended up using Nowhere King as well.
As soon as I heard the beat for "Slide into the Void," I got so excited. Good job dude! I've been watching your videos for about a year now, and I love how much you're advancing your content and experimenting with more and more editing styles. Looking forward to the next one!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize Arthur was the colossus until like weeks later when I watched a video on lore. And it bugs me on that opening scene introducing Arthur that they took the time in animating him pulling the charging handle on the correct side of the gun, but two seconds prior he reloads a empty magazine with another empty magazine.
Animators/ filmakers have never made very good gunsmiths, but they're getting better at least. We went from bottomless magazines to John Wick. It's still pretty fantastical, but there are games and movies focused more on faithful recreations. Besides, when Warframe realistically models magazines we get the cursed Penta magazine Riven people who keep me up at night.
Its that video game logic. A new magazine always comes out of Hammer Space, or enemies coincidentally has the exact magazine we need. Sadly, with Game Informer shut down, Warframe is stuck reading Vogue and TIME instead.
Sad I couldn't catch the premier of this, but happy to see you've knocked it out of the park again. Whispers has some of my favorite story beats in Warframe and considering them again with these biblical (and overall cultural) themes made them even more enjoyable. Tbh, with how much emphasis Warframe puts on emotion and empathy, I'm really curious how they'll tackle the aspect of romantic love (especially the development of it, I guess we've seen plenty of established relationships) with the dating sim aspect of 1999. But I'm equally as excited about what you're cooking up for Dante.
You're gonna upload that parody song, right? It was lovely to listen to being a fan of both Warframe and the Stupendium, it's nice to see niches colide in their own ways.
the song: 1:08:38 seeing this video and all the previous, i start to believe the Void is just emotion given form, taken how it only interact under extreme emotion, tenno despair to survive, albert despair to be acknowledged, parvos despair to see the future, can also be linked to deadly sins, albert pride, parvo greed, tenno sloth.

This is a fun thing I realized Whenever you hear that "thum thum thum" in the Sanctum, if you listen closely you'll actually realize its Wally saying Rap Tap Tap!
Bird’s speech about “Sometimes you can't hurt the things that hurt you” actually made me tear up a bit. I'd like to imagine that these are my last four brain cells communicating to each other

Think we could get a short excerpt video of the segment from an hour and seven minutes in, maybe with the specific nature of the Vox Solaris spoiler cut out? It's a very good summation of Warframe's aesthetic heart, but it's a bit too long for a clip.
Hey bigbrzezinski. Unfortunately i don't think that would be very good for the health of the channel. Reupping a small segment that is too long for a short or a clip wouldn't be a great idea. the man in the wall is the failed experiment they were talking about in the quest, an attempt was made to give the void itself a physical body, a beating heart to make it feel like we do, in hopes of changing the indifference to something more benevolent. You can see how the albrecht membrane succeeded in doing so with the creation of duviri around the zariman after the failed jump; here is where the "but" comes in. The Indifference, being breached for the first time, adapted to the only being with emotion inside its own realm: a monstrous orokin wallowing in his own sins.
I'll add onto this a little bit, because i discuss it around the end of the questline in the video. I do believe that Entrati's plan is to teach Wally empathy. However, i wouldnt say Wally is the experiment. His creation was absolutely an accident, because Albrecht couldnt have known about things like conceptual embodiement or the palimpsest of spacetime when he first dove into the Void. Albrecht probably isnt even certain if he created wally or not. So i think its better to say that the experiment is trying to figure out how to teach empathy too a deeply troubled person who has never experienced it. Rell, honestly, probably made more progress on this than anyone. Which is probably why Wally was dormant for so long. Rell was very good at being Wally's friend
Can we please talk about how Albrecht Entrati and the Man in the Wall are basically every H.P. Lovecraft protagonist fighting against the cosmic horror, even the writing style is on point.
1:00:00 from what i understood when i played it was that wally was manifesting loid negative feelings and just as how the tenno calms the minds of the warframes by jumping to the vessel we were able to calm loids heart in a sense. But then, when you do the netracell mission. You see that theres artwork of the protoframes, mag, excalibur, the new frame of 1999 and i think volt was the other one so the vessels being built around the map was for those protoframes specifically but then at the end we jumped into one that looks like loid but was the same one used for arthur. So that part threw me off. Im still watching video and i dont know the lore well either so im going based from what i interpreted when i played it when it came out
I would say that the vessels arent necessary tied directly to specific warframes as their archetypes, but more that these were foreshadowing of the different protoframes we will see in Warframe 1999. Personally, i dont think the vessel looks particularly like Loid or Arthur. I think Loid can simply empathize with the gesture because of his own experience and our channeling of Albrecht's emotions at that moment. But it also seems that using the Vessels is how our consciousness can use transference back in time. So it may be easier to think of the vessels as representing the 1999 characters more than representing a warframe
@SocraTetris the vessels look alot like loid but with no hair but i see what you mean. Theyre not tied to anyone but a vessel to be used in order to jump into others via time instead of how operator uses void to jump bodies only in the present
I know this has nothing to do with Warframe, but... Is that the instrumental of "The Nowhere King" playing in the background from time to time? Or is it some song that sounds similar?
You heard right! I made a distinct soundalike. But thematically on point, because Nowhere King existing in an empty space between realities has the same vibe as The Man In the Wall.
So are Stalker and/or Jade sapient frames like Umbra? Clearly if they are they maintain a much more refined degree of individualism and cognizance, being able to maintain more than one memory, and form a unique personality after the transformation separate from, but connected to, who they were before
I think so. As well as Kullervo and Dante. Maybe Dagath as well. Maybe all the frames are Sapient to some degree, and are just more or less able to act independently
Just had another speculation as well.. The songs from the technocyte...I wonder... Knowing how DE plays their game for a little... They love to create 'bridges'. they even created a whole new game mechanic with Tyana Pass. Just to create a foreshadowing for new players towards Duviri... They have a whole song now dedicated on how they're 'finally ending despair'... Might this too, be a 'bridge' towards a coming quest for the background lore on The Stalker and Jade? We had a whole mission, Ascension, where the whole dialogue was dedicated on a conversation between Parvos and Ordis. Clearly seeing emotions becoming to come to life... Emotions signify consciousness of memories... And since Ordis clarifies that he 'should have' etc, etc, It seems to me that it might be a foreshadowing towards a quest we'll get released in a couple years about Ordis too. Maybe... (I really hope this will become true) Maybe we'll get an Ordis Warframe at some point... 'Ordan'
I go into this more in my Jade Shadows video. It is true that conceptual embodiement is powered by emotion/emotional intelligence. The way i interpret the infested songs is a bit different. The infested have always had this semi-hive mind consciousness. They see spreading the infestation and creating and inviting things into their family. Like with Party of Your Lifetime "Join us, embrace us, don't ever erase us." I wouldnt be surprised if all of warframe's themes come into play for On Lyne's music. So it mat br worth making its own video for the full album once we get infested liches released early next year
I Googled a bit about pagers (I was born in 97 so too young to know about it) and appearantly they are still being used during crises because they use satellites instead of landbased phonetowers. Another interesting thing is that the message sending and receiving system is host based so technically they would work in real time to when one of the 2 ends would time travel. Unlike modern phones where messaging goes through internet and phone towers.
34:20... so close...Since DE uses anime as reference a lot, I think we should read 'Mara Lohk' backwards. Lohk Mara Void Demon... As in referring to the indifference... And maybe more... First thought that came to me was also to read the words backwards... as in the letters on their own.. But maybe it was the words that my unconciousness was pointing towards to... Only Time Will Tell... What this Void Demon truly might mean...
Lohk is confirmed as meaning void, but Mara is not directly confirmed to mean the word "demon" with any in-game text. For example, Ballaa calls the tenno "demons" and uses words like "void devilry" but never calls the tenno "mara lohk" as character that know voidtongue do. I do go over this in that section of the video. Imo, Inverting the words doesnt serve. Void Demon or Demon of the Void doesnt matter if we introduce other grammatical structures that dont require both words to be nouns. irl, Mara is a specific demon, not a general word for demon. The kind of demon is one of desire, and i explain the cultural significance of that dynamic in the video following your timestamp
I was so tired that I read you rule of commenting as: "Make sure you type as kind as the other Geniuses in here!" 😂 I read that way too quickly I think. I already pressed it away, but laughed afterwards haha
I just wish DE was to add a console option when we talk to tagfer, i just want to try and at least try and help someone in pain, at least try to make it hurt a little less.
Right now we do have the "offer comfort" item on the menu, unless it got removed in a patch or something. I think this is probably better for him to be able to feel valued.
No worries. It was a new revelation as of this year, so it's also very new. I only emphasize it because yknow some in the community don't particularly like this fact.
22:18: The Luddite Y2K Urban Legend, why call it Luddite? and i would like to know what the urban legend is? Y2K was a real problem and people worked hard to solve it before 2000, that's why not much happened back then. Edit: i see that someone else asked before, sorry for the repeat.
No worries, and thank you for checking the other comments. Mainly i used the word luddite to capture the feeling of moment. How it was treated as a sort of doomsday prophecy. And while a lot of good work was done as a precaution, much of the fear was overblown
@@SocraTetris You are right, it was overblown, i remember watching TV with my father before midnight, there was a live show, it's a whole new year/century with 3 zeroes, it was exciting and there was hope in the air. The TV show was trying to find problems, found nothing of course, years later i read stories about weird bugs in some databases where a baby for example is thought to be 104 years old or and old person found out that they are now 7 years old 😅 I'll admit that using the word Luddites upsets me a little because i read about their history a lot, they were never against new technology, but the word now is used for anyone who is technophobe or even a tech critic.
Sry to be that guy but with regards to your notes on brutalism: in the Soviet union, the use of brutalist architecture was indeed used as one way to adress homelessness as tsarist russia had more homeless than any other country in Europe. The Soviet union through the use of brutalist style buildings managed to within less than a few decades eradicate homelessness completely. The discontinued use of brutalist buildings is largely due to capitalism taking over in former Soviet states and since then caused these buildings to crumble because it's simply more profitable when people die in the streets.
I think you misunderstand a discussion of Brutalism as an architecture movement broadly, versus what happened to Brutalist endeavors as a result of political history. That said, you would need to provide very convincing evidence that 1) soviet Russia had a 0% homelessness population, and that such claims were not propaganda, and 2) that the brutalist architecture which succeeded at bringing homelessness to 0% were intentionally left to break in order to cause homelessness. These arent the kind of claims that I will simply accept on its face. Especially when you are using very broad terminology to identify your groups here.

For some reason after beating whispers in the walls the vessel that was possessed by the man in the wall in the last mission has a heartbeat when I go next to it in the sanctum anatomica which makes me think that some form of wally is in it (which then begs the question why Loid hasn't heard it and done anything about it😂) anyway love your videos since you're what let me truly fathom the beauty of this game's philosphy.
@@SocraTetris I was also young at the time but I know my uncle had worked over a year on making the systems for his company safe
They likely were taking precautions to make sure it didn't. A lot of people did take it seriously and wanted to ensure they wouldnt be caught unawares
@@SocraTetris I was a developer at the time and spent many, many hours reading cobol to solve y2k issues, I _assure_ you the reason planes didn't fall out of the sky was that the problem was taken seriously and hundreds of billions were spent on software changes, audits and hardware changes.
Hahaha the reference to the Control song is top notch 😂
I kept it subtle. But the people in the know will have a lot of chances to point at the screen! XD
My wife returns to Warframe every so often and has tried explaining the lore to me. I had found you through some other game vids, so when I saw you drop this I told her we should go through your series! What an absolute treasure full of insightful commentary, the passion is very tangible.

It got even better after the video! I literally just chose gyre because i thought the aesthetic matched. Ended up using her as my main for the entire run of syndicate quests

Yes, but you can use one of gyre's augment mods to make her 3 and Ult last forever. Uly strikes on status effect, Combined with gotva prima ability to get +300% crit chance on status effect, plus the chain-lighting effect of the abilities. It very efficient crowd control and room clears all at once

Glad i could surprise you! It's something i was doing a bit this year. Not sure if i'll keep it up for next year's video. But it was a ton of fun
No? What?"
So we listen to the song. I'm telling her are creepy accurate to warframe it is. I show her the trailer. And then i see "Into the Void" by Stupendium show up in my "watch again" search results. (Listened to it a lot as Control was coming out years ago.)
That's what sparked the idea.
Thank you, Hunter! I've also been excited to see how many people here were also fans of Stupendium. Small world!

I'm SO excited for the dating sim of 1999. I'm gonna try for an every-happy polycule if they'll let me!
You're gonna upload that parody song, right? It was lovely to listen to being a fan of both Warframe and the Stupendium, it's nice to see niches colide in their own ways.

This is a fun thing I realized
Whenever you hear that "thum thum thum" in the Sanctum, if you listen closely you'll actually realize its Wally saying Rap Tap Tap!
Perhaps. Though I always figured raptaptap was Rell. The Thum noise could very well be the sound Wally was making that Rell was verbalizing
Damn, I forgot just how heartbreaking the Cavia's story was 😭
It is so dark and so tragic. Makes one want to not think about its implications
Bird’s speech about “Sometimes you can't hurt the things that hurt you” actually made me tear up a bit.
I'd like to imagine that these are my last four brain cells communicating to each other
It got me right in the feels too
I really wish that you would post your version of Into the Void as a standalone video with maybe more refined singing (or just like that)
I will do that, Benthasome. Just like with the Kullervo music video. I'm gonna give it some time to breath though. UA-cam's algorithm is funny and might stop recommending this video if i upload the music video too soon

For real. DE needs to let us go back in time, grab her, and just bring her back. For real for real
Btw DE said that you won’t get a copyright strike for using into the void by Nine inch nails
Sadly, whem i tried to upload it, I still got a copyright flag and the video's monetization would have been captured. That's why i made the royalty free version, which is also available on my channel for other content creators to use.
the man in the wall is the failed experiment they were talking about in the quest, an attempt was made to give the void itself a physical body, a beating heart to make it feel like we do, in hopes of changing the indifference to something more benevolent.
I think it's close, but I'm not quite seeing specific allusions. There is absolutely room for a cosmic horror reading of the story though
The prototype warframes man mixed with infested I wonder if he was a template of some kind to create other Excalibur like warframes
Albrecht's codex entries state Arthur was the template for the vessels, so technically true
WOOO ANOTHER GYRE ENJOYER LESGOOO
Gyre is great in the sanctum
@@SocraTetris hell yeah, she just vaporizes the entire tile by existing I love her
1:00:00 from what i understood when i played it was that wally was manifesting loid negative feelings and just as how the tenno calms the minds of the warframes by jumping to the vessel we were able to calm loids heart in a sense.
Bird 3 is the telos for objective morality. I would die for Bird 3.
We must all strive to be bird 4. I support this new religion
I first didn't like the song but I came back to it cause it was in my head lol
I got that earworm power, lol. Standalone song video drops tomorrow
When the Depresssed Cat is more intelligent than the Fish, Human Butler and Bird, says alot
I would say Bird is the wisest of the bunch
Like with Party of Your Lifetime "Join us, embrace us, don't ever erase us."
I wouldnt be surprised if all of warframe's themes come into play for On Lyne's music. So it mat br worth making its own video for the full album once we get infested liches released early next year
Why was there a half time song?
Why not?

I Googled a bit about pagers (I was born in 97 so too young to know about it) and appearantly they are still being used during crises because they use satellites instead of landbased phonetowers.
Another interesting thing is that the message sending and receiving system is host based so technically they would work in real time to when one of the 2 ends would time travel. Unlike modern phones where messaging goes through internet and phone towers.
34:20... so close...Since DE uses anime as reference a lot, I think we should read 'Mara Lohk' backwards.
Lohk Mara
Void Demon...

Shore?
I think DE is going to impress, and the new war was a pretty high bar.
