Being closed to 70 years of age I have been cooking shrimp for over 45 years. But I have been experimenting lately and wanted to improve my shrimp cooking. While perusing the internet I came across your video. At first I blew you off especially seeing that you were not coating your shrimp with corn meal.. But to use flour and corn starch---sacrilege. But after seeing your end product, I said why not give it a try. I followed your recipe and instruction to a tee, except for I seasoned my flour. I must tell you that your recipe was the best shrimp I have ever tasted in my 67 years. I always cooked shrimp with corn meal and could not think of using flour and cornstarch. But I am here to tell you the flour and corn starch made for a much lighter coating. I could actually taste the flavor of the shrimp and it was not consumed by the coating as when i use corn meal. I really have to commend you by saying that you presented an absolutely superb recipe that I will use forever more. I am going to look to see what other recipes you provide on U-tube.

Best shrimp recipe I've found! Don't like spicy, so I substituted the hot sauce with buttermilk. Excellent! I've used this for chicken and pork chops! Everything was great!
Just made this for my hubby and myself. Used the same batter to fry up some chicken as well as the shrimp. It was such a success, my hubby loved it. I can't thank you enough. Fried shrimp/chicken has never tasted this good. 10/10 recommend, will be using this recipe again!

I regularly season my shrimp, crack a egg for the flaky crispness, & use flour but now ima try the mustard & hot sauce with it next time & see how I like that it look really good thanks for sharing!!!
I really can't tell you how many times I have made this recipe and I definitely only use the Argentina red shrimp. If anyone has a Lidl in their town they have this shrimp. I have everything prepped to make this shrimp recipe plus lemon pepper wings for dinner. Love this recipe! Only way to fry my shrimp now. Thank you stay safe and Blessed!

I made this just now: very good! I had salt free creole seasoning all I will say is be careful on salt there is a thin coating of breading so the salt can easily overpower. That mustard hot sauce combo is so good in general! Thanks for recipe ❤️
Still your best recipe. I've modified it a bit and took advice from other culinary chefs on how to fry shrimp, but this is hands down a great basis for fried shrimp overall. It honestly tastes better than most restaurants I've been to. So delicious!

Just made this last night but didn’t have old bay and I used jumbo shrimp. The recipe was wonderful and I covered some of the shrimps in Buffalo sauce and served with ranch! So good that my husband went back to the store after supper and bought more shrimp! 😂

This was so good, I used small shrimp bc that was all I had but next time I’m gonna use big ones like you did. The small ones turned out really salty but that’s totally my fault. I also can’t wait to use this recipe for some chicken strips too!

@Cutiespies23 so do I! but in this case it just helps your seasonings to adhere to whatever it is you’re cooking. I recommend that you try it at least one while frying chicken. you don’t add a whole lot, just a enough to coat it, season your chicken and the flour and you’re destined for greatness!
I just finished making these and oh my God, they were really good. I had to make another round of flour and corn starch because I had more shrimp to cook than expected. I use self rising flour because I didn't have all purpose flour and I added a sazon packet to the flour mixture and I cooked the shrimp for only 5 minutes and it was crispy and perfect. Will make my fried shrimp like this more often and I will try the batter mixture with chicken too. Thanks for the recipe. 👍🏾

This recipe is legit. Just made them and they came out perfect! You can save some effort by mixing all the batter ingredients together in a bowl before the shrimp are added. It's easier to mix together like that.
@@scottraber8497 I'd think so. Just make sure your shrimp are big (you don't want the breading to overwhelm it). And also watch the salt cause you're basically adding two layers of seasoning if you double dip 😊

Worked great. Didn't use the exact ingredients but it came out tasting exactly like Popeyes shrimp. This method is sooo easy, the hardest part is peeling the shrimp. Gotta try this with chicken next. This technique is game changing for my kitchen, I'm going to save so much TIME!

We eat with a lot of spices and with a lot of heat therefore I increased those flavors a lot. Girl, I made them and they were delicious. I’m making them again, just modified the ingredients a bit because I didn’t have all and had to remplace 2. Loved the idea of using a container to mix the shrimp and flour.

One egg, 1 lb of shrimp, hot sauce, mustard, garlic power, black pepper, old bay seasoning, combine it all in a bowl stir it up until everything is coated. I use flour and a tablespoon of cornstarch for the batter. I also add a little garlic powder and old bay to go flour.

I made your wonderful fried shrimp recipe with a couple of modifications. THIS RECIPE IS AMAZING. I am from Guatemala and live in Southwestern Louisiana. We eat with a lot of spices and with a lot of heat therefore I increased those flavors a lot. Thank you for sharing this recipe, i just subscribed to your channel because I am sure all your recipes will be wonderful.

Girl, I made them and they were delicious. I’m making them again, just modified the ingredients a bit because I didn’t have all and had to remplace 2. Loved the idea of using a container to mix the shrimp and flour.

@@brownskn52 child just try it I promise you'll never look back. One egg, 1 lb of shrimp, hot sauce, mustard, garlic power, black pepper, old bay seasoning, combine it all in a bowl stir it up until everything is coated. I use flour and a tablespoon of cornstarch for the batter. I also add a little garlic powder and old bay to go flour.

Hello!🤗 this is EXACTLY the detailed response that I needed to hear😅I wondered what the hot sauce and mustard marinade would infuse into the flavor.
Can you make Bourbon Chicken next time? I know there are two different versions of it, the traditional way which doesn't have bourbon in it and the recipe with bourbon in it. I want to see which one you'd pick, there really aren't that many Bourbon chicken recipes on YT, especially ones made by top cooks that I'm subscribed to.
