Iv been using bright colored eye shadows and brushing it on my porcelain while wet,,, it make a great looking marble technique 😊🥰 thank you for your wonderful video!!
If you lightly glaze some baby oil over the inside of your measuring cup for the glue with your finger or a piece of cloth, before you put the glue in to measure it, it slides out without sticking to the side of the cup. No need for a spoon to get it all out. 🙂 Nice video.
To make them waterproof and even harder got to varnish 😊 that little butterfly is so cute ❤ I want to make useful items like trinket trays I love those never have lost any jewelry as long as I use one
Thank you so much 😊 I have never had to use varnish, but that is good advice, thank you. I guess I have never worrired about them being waterproof and never tested to see. I make mine for craft projects and jewelry, so they never get soaked in water, and I have been able to wipe them with a wet cloth with no problem. But I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind should I ever make something that might get soaked in water. As for hardness, I can't imagine thing any harder than what they are, but again, it never hurts for extra protection. Thanks for your comment 💗 Hugs....Janie

If you're sensitive to smells, you can use mineral oil. It's exactly the same as baby oil, but fragrance free and way cheaper. It's usually found in the laxative aisle.
Yes you can use a variety of oils. I like baby oil because of the soft smell that is gentle enough for babies, and also because it's easily found at the Dollar Tree or probably even Walmart for about a dollar. So for me it works. But yes you can use mineral oil or avocado oil or olive oil....which ever you prefer 😊 Hugs....Janie

I'm guessing it's been a while since you have done this. Did you use the cooked recipe or this no-cook recipe? I have used the cooked recipe and made a video a few years ago, but after someone asking me about the no-cook version I decided to check it out and give it a try. At this point I don't see a difference even though I would think the cooking would make it stronger......but it seems just as strong. Have fun :) Hugs...Janie

I've worked with polymer clay and lately have been watching some great creations made with either porcelain clay or porcelain clay. I'm fascinated and the fact that you can make it yourself adds to my interest. So, I'll definitely be trying this. My creative energies are calling me this time of year. Only problem is that it's already so late. I'll be trying this out for sure. Thank you for sharing.

Bigger than what? I have no idea what size you are wanting to make. But if you are wanting to know if you can make something bigger than jewelry yes. However the thickness may affect things. The thicker it is, the longer it will take to dry. I have had a whole roll dry when I had forgot about it, so that was at least an inch thick.. If you are wanting to make something long, sure that will work. But seriously, this is so inexpensive, why don't you just make a batch and give it a try? That's how I learn.....by trying things and seeing how it works out 😊

Will be trying this new recipe very soon, and thank you for being so thorough! I made my first batch from another recipe recently and poured many hours into several projects only for all of them (and my heart, haha) to crack into pieces while drying. I've tried several different things to remedy this problem but am fairly sure now it was just a poor recipe I fell upon. Very discouraging but seeing your results has me excited to try again! Thank you for watching. I'm not sure what recipes you have used before or why they didn't work. I have never had anything I've made with this recipe crack, let alone crack into pieces. I can imagine how frustrating that must be. Mine come out beautiful and solid and strong. My advice is to watch my video closely and follow every step, and use any tips I offer as I go along. Question.....are you allowing the things you make to air dry, or are you trying to speed things up by using an oven? This needs to air dry and is not for ovens. Just curious. You mentioned that you use baby oil because you like the smell. Once you stir everything together, can you still smell it or the lemon juice?
I wouldn’t ever use olive oil because it can and will go rancid and spoil. If you want to condition your cutting board for example I would suggest mineral oil, to do that as well. I’m not sure about using mineral oil, in your porcelain dough however, as I’ve never tried it. Great video and I appreciate you taking the time to show us how you make it. Have a great Thanksgiving honey! BTW, Crafters will always have a bit of mess somewhere until it’s clean up time, and that’s being honest.
I have never used olive oil for this even though there are many people that have used olive oil and vegetable oil. The lemon juice acts as a preservative. I prefer baby oil. I have watched videos where people have all kinds of oils and even lotion. But like I said, I prefer baby oil. I'm happy you like my video.....thank you so much. @@janiethecraftprincess life being what it is I mixed it this afternoon, but I made it and the humidity in the air was siting around 80% so I wound up needing an extra half cup of cornstarch. I'm going to try and make a drop spindle and whorl and possibly a few naalbinding needles
@@michellecorbett3323 I can't even imagine 80% humidity!!! Ok I can imagine.....traveled to a couple places that were pretty humid and I hated it. Currently, according to our little weather station, indoors it's 21% and outdoors it's 5%.....and according to Google it's 14%.......and it's 88 degrees (F). Like I said, dry heat, dry cold, dry snow. I can definitely understand your humidity effecting the recipe. I'm sure that is the problem others are having when they tell me it's "soupy". I have been using cold porcelain to create life-like flowers for sale many years. Recently, I started making items in molds to diversify my wares. I wanted to have the items still wet to glue them on applications that were not always flat, so need the molded clay to be able to curve. Well, I took a hint from the chocolate making community...I put the mold in the freezer and when frozen it pops right out easily and still in the proper shape allowing me to reuse the mold with an hour instead of having to wait overnight or longer for it to dry. I haven't tried that method with this clay yet, but as it does not shrink or at least doesn't to the extent that the cooked version does, I haven't proven that it would work in this application, but I believe it would work here just as well. I will try making my lifelike flowers with this version also, if it works, it would save time, electricity from using the microwave, multiple steps,...if it does work. Sounds like you use it a lot more than I do......I would love to see what you make. I have another video on the cooked (microwave) method but find this no cook method less messy. I hope it works for you the way you want it to. I have only let it air dry and never thought about freezing it and am not sure how that will work. I freeze soap when I make it instead of letting it set over night.....quicker and easy to release from the molds. Let me know how that works with the cold porcelain when you try it. OK, I made the clay as you instructed. It was like soup in my bowl. I added more cornstarch. I had to add a lot more cornstarch. I am testing out the molding method, but thus far, I prefer the cooked version by far. This would not work, for creating the life-like flowers, unfortunately. I may try it out on other applications, but not the flowers. Thanks for your efforts. Blessings!
@@christiedecker2724 I'm sorry you had this experience, but with this no cook method there is no way you followed the directions and had it look like soup.....it is physically impossible with there being more cornstarch (or even equal cornstarch) than the liquid ingredients, especially with thick liquid ingredients like glue. I didn't just give you a recipe, I recorded it so you can watch and see what to expect, and as you saw it was VERY THICK and not liquid at all. At 11:55 minutes into the video, right after I first mixed it, you can see the spoon standing up by itself in the mixture while I'm putting on my gloves. I'm not sure where you went wrong......what part of the ingredients that you misread.....but you might want to try it again. The consistency and texture is identical to the cooked version and does make beautiful flowers. I hope you try it again and double check my ingredients and watch the video again. I really think you will like this, but if not, just stick with the cooked version :) Hugs....Janie

In fact of you watch the video you can see before I take it out of the molds that it has barely shrunk away from the edges. I have used it in molds and with cookie cutters and freehand. Be sure to give it plenty of time to dry.....the thicker the object the longer it will take. And let it air dry....do not try to speed it up with heat. Be sure the "dough" is soft and stretchy.....it's not like other "clays" that have a firm texture. This recipe is the best! I must give the shout out. Today I thought I would make a different recipe thinking it would be larger. It was the same as this recipe except that it called for one cup of cornstarch and 3/4 of a cup of glue. It was a sticky mess and I wrestled with it for nearly an hour. I will never deviate from this recipe. Unless she comes up with one that's better ☺️

Keep at room temperature. Keep it sealed tightly in plastic wrap and in a sealed container (as I showed). If stored properly it will be usable for several weeks. Have fun 😊

Yes I know.....I just prefer to let them dry in the molds. But maybe some day I'll try it the other way. I know it's easier to take it out of the mold right away if you are going to add it to something else right away or need to shape it around something. Thanks for the great tutorial! I suppose sealing it with a resin or other waterproof sealer will protect it from water. I saw on TV years ago on the Aileen's craft show how to make cold porcelain with a slice of bread, Aileen's tacky glue and craft paint. Made some small roses and they turned out great! But this is better for making larger batches. Looking forward to trying it!

I have no idea. It would probably not turn out the same. You can pick up corn starch at the Dollar Tree if you're looking for cheap. But flour and corn starch are different and will most likely create a different dough. You can always try it 😊
Mold? Like does it get moldy? No....not at all.....not ever. The lemon juice or vinegar is probably what prevents that....but really I've never known any clay or modeling substance to get moldy. And honestly, there is nothing in this to mold. But you know.....it's a good question I guess. I hope I have helped.
Oh, I can't wait to try this! I used to love making things from polymer clay, but I had to stop once we got a parrot (the fumes, you know, and I was scared of the cooked cold porcelain for the same reason). This looks really nice ♥

Can you pop them out of the molds prior to completely drying, like you can with store bought clay? I'm wanting to shape a mold around objects I'm working with.
Yes, you can definitely remove it from the molds before it is dry. Usually you can remove it from the molds immediately, depending on the mold. I have seen many people do what you are wanting to do. Have fun 😊
Well that is a very good question. I have never heard of anyone doing that or seen anyone do that, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. It might be messier than doing it by hand. Next time I make some I'm going to try mixing it all in a ziplock bag so I can knead it without getting it all over my hands.....might be a little less messy. Then you can just turn the bag inside out to remove the dough. But if you try using a mixer, please let me know if works 😊 Hugs....Janie

Hello, I really enjoyed your video. I have been using cold porcelain for about a year, but I just recently started putting it in molds. I was wondering if you have trouble with it bowing. Mine isn’t drying flat. It’s rounded when it’s dried. If so, could you give me any tips on how to get it to dry flat. Thank you so much.
Hi 😊 Yes I do have a problem with it bowing......well not all of them, only the thinner ones. However, I haven't tried this yet, but I have seen people pop them out of the molds right after they mold it, and then apply it to whatever they are making with it. I don't know if you take it out and lay it flat if that will prevent the bowing. But.....I have tried with deeper intricate molds (like roses) and it doesn't come out good until it's completely dry. I do love that the butterflies curve though, it adds realistic dimension. But I do not have any bowing issues with most molds, just the thin ones. As far as I know the answer is no. Flour and corn starch are two different things.....so just like when baking you wouldn't replace one with the other. But feel free to try it if you would like, however just be prepared that it won't be the same.

Cold porcelain is solid and smooth, not porus like some "clays". I have never had any fall apart over time, and have some that are several years old. In fact some that I showed in this video were at least 3 years old and this video is 2 years old, so over 5 years or longer nothing has fallen apart. I honestly don't see how this can fall apart. It's inexpensive so just give it a try. I also have a video on making a version that you cook. I think you will love this cold porcelain 😊
I have no idea......but I'm pretty sure it would effect the texture and consistency. My suggestion is try it, if it works great, and if not then you will know 😊

Not that I know of....at least so far I haven't noticed a difference. I'll be honest, I was worried it would not be as strong. But I think it works great. The no cook version is definitely easier to make. I also have a video on the cooked version so maybe you can try both and see what you think. Don't know.....don't have it....haven't tried it. Let me know if it works 😊 I have never used the clear Elmer's glue for anything so I don't know if it has a different consistency, but I would think it's a different formula, so it may not work. I would imagine it would need some sort of adhesive to adhere to papier mache or anything else. I have only used it to make embellishments and jewelry (as you saw in the video) so it's already hard at that point. I guess you could always give it a try.....it's not like it's expensive to make. And as for your question about "can it be sanded".....anything can be sanded, but why would you want to? It has such a beautiful finish. I have never sanded it because I like the smoothe finish, but like I said, you can alway give it a try. You could always make a half batch to experiment with.....it costs pratically nothing to make. @@janiethecraftprincess Many thanks. What I am intending it for is the final layer of clay on two very big floor standing flat faced, decorative vases. And because the area needs to be flat and totally smooth I can't do a level, wrinkle free, line free, stroke free area. The final product will be high gloss which would show any irregularities.
@@chrissiemac8500 I'm not sure what you are planning to use to mold the cold porcelain, but it dries beautifully smooth like silk. If the mold has texture obviously the finished result will have texture. If you are freehanding it I'm sure you can keep it smoothe. I highly suggest experimenting with it before doing such a special project. Good luck.
@@janiethecraftprincess I was thinking of just... smearing it on? Like I do with the papier mache clay. It to cover a broad flat area and unless I some how can adhere it and then use something like a rolling pin to flatten it out/smooth it out, I don't know any other way. I've never used it before but the "Porcelain" part of it would suit the finished look I am trying to achieve with the vase. The papier mache does not smooth out enough and the more I try to smooth it the more the fine paper bits come to the surface. I was hoping that I didn't have to sand the entire thing. One vase stands at 1.2 metres tall.
I'm not sure I understand your comment. Preserve......do you want to know how to preserve it? The vinegar or lemon juice perserves it.....and keep the unused cold poreclain wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in an air-tight container. Which types material glossy? I'm totally lost with that. This cold porcelain has a smooth, non-porous finish. If you want a glossy finish I would use a sealer on the finished project.....something like Mod Podge Glossy (brush on or spray), or a Krylon spray. I really don't know if I answered your question since I really didn't understand your comment, but I hope I helped 😊
Yes they are hard as a rock.....it's suppose to be. Since you are asking about hooks and rings I'm guessing you are wanting to make jewelry and not embellishments. To create holes for jump rings, I use a tooth pick to poke a hole through while it's still soft. For pendants I glue a bale to the back after it's hard. I hope this helps. 😊
I have been using this for about 5 years and nothing has ever molded. The lemon juice is to prevent the growth of bacteria or fungi (got that from Wikipedia). This also has a silky smooth hard surface, unlike other modeling substances/clays. I still have some pieces that are from when I first started using this and they are still as beautiful as when I first made them. In fact, some of the pieces I showed in this video, like the necklace, are about 5 years old. I hope this helps. I also have a video with a recipe that requires cooking (in the microwave). I'm sure you watched so you already know the recipe calls for white glue, which is what I used. As for your other question, I have no idea. I don't know what flexable porcelain paste is. My suggestion would be to try it and see what happens. Have fun and good luck 😊
I don't see why not. You might have to glue them in, but I'm not sure because I've never tried that. I have seen people do many things with this, including taking it out of the mold right away while it's still flexible and wrap it around things, and use it without a mold (I have done that to make beads). I think the possibilities are endless. You should give it a try 😊 Hugs...Janie
I wish I had a difinitive answer, but I have only used Elmer's glue. There are so many variables with Mod Podge......for example which formula do you plan on using (there are probably a dozen different Mod Podges). I am a big Mod Podge fan and pretty much own them all. I don't think any of them have the same consistency as Elmer's glue. Also Mod Podge is mostly a sealer and finish, even though it does have some adhesive properties, but probably not the same as glue. Being as this is an inexpensive formula, you might just try making a half batch and see how it works. I do know that other people have tried substituting an ingredient and the cosistency turns out wrong. But I'm a firm believer in trying things to see what happens. Good luck 😊

I'm sure I showed in the video how light weight it is....but if I didn't show in this video I must have shown in my other cold procelaine video. So it is very light weight and sturdy. Larger things will take longer to dry all the way through so give it plenty of time. Depending on how large you might even want to give it days. I have never done anything that large, but did leave a batch unused way to long and it did become solid....LOL. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie

If you lightly glaze some baby oil over the inside of your measuring cup for the glue with your finger or a piece of cloth, before you put the glue in to measure it, it slides out without sticking to the side of the cup. No need for a spoon to get it all out. 🙂 Nice video.

To make them waterproof and even harder got to varnish 😊 that little butterfly is so cute ❤ I want to make useful items like trinket trays I love those never have lost any jewelry as long as I use one
Thank you so much 😊 I have never had to use varnish, but that is good advice, thank you. I guess I have never worrired about them being waterproof and never tested to see. I make mine for craft projects and jewelry, so they never get soaked in water, and I have been able to wipe them with a wet cloth with no problem. But I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind should I ever make something that might get soaked in water. If you're sensitive to smells, you can use mineral oil. It's exactly the same as baby oil, but fragrance free and way cheaper. It's usually found in the laxative aisle.
Yes you can use a variety of oils. I like baby oil because of the soft smell that is gentle enough for babies, and also because it's easily found at the Dollar Tree or probably even Walmart for about a dollar. So for me it works. But yes you can use mineral oil or avocado oil or olive oil....which ever you prefer 😊 Hugs....Janie

I have used the cooked recipe and made a video a few years ago, but after someone asking me about the no-cook version I decided to check it out and give it a try. I've worked with polymer clay and lately have been watching some great creations made with either porcelain clay or porcelain clay. I'm fascinated and the fact that you can make it yourself adds to my interest. So, I'll definitely be trying this. My creative energies are calling me this time of year. Bigger than what? I have no idea what size you are wanting to make. But if you are wanting to know if you can make something bigger than jewelry yes. However the thickness may affect things. The thicker it is, the longer it will take to dry. I have had a whole roll dry when I had forgot about it, so that was at least an inch thick.. If you are wanting to make something long, sure that will work. But seriously, this is so inexpensive, why don't you just make a batch and give it a try? That's how I learn.....by trying things and seeing how it works out 😊

Will be trying this new recipe very soon, and thank you for being so thorough! I made my first batch from another recipe recently and poured many hours into several projects only for all of them (and my heart, haha) to crack into pieces while drying. I've tried several different things to remedy this problem but am fairly sure now it was just a poor recipe I fell upon. Very discouraging but seeing your results has me excited to try again! Thank you for watching. I'm not sure what recipes you have used before or why they didn't work. I have never had anything I've made with this recipe crack, let alone crack into pieces. I can imagine how frustrating that must be. Mine come out beautiful and solid and strong. My advice is to watch my video closely and follow every step, and use any tips I offer as I go along. Question.....are you allowing the things you make to air dry, or are you trying to speed things up by using an oven? This needs to air dry and is not for ovens. Just curious. You mentioned that you use baby oil because you like the smell. Once you stir everything together, can you still smell it or the lemon juice?
I have never smelled the lemon juice or glue, and you can't smell the baby oil once your project is done. I just like the smell working with it.

I wouldn’t ever use olive oil because it can and will go rancid and spoil. If you want to condition your cutting board for example I would suggest mineral oil, to do that as well. I’m not sure about using mineral oil, in your porcelain dough however, as I’ve never tried it. Great video and I appreciate you taking the time to show us how you make it. Have a great Thanksgiving honey! BTW, Crafters will always have a bit of mess somewhere until it’s clean up time, and that’s being honest.
I have never used olive oil for this even though there are many people that have used olive oil and vegetable oil. The lemon juice acts as a preservative. I prefer baby oil. I have watched videos where people have all kinds of oils and even lotion. But like I said, I prefer baby oil. I'm happy you like my video.....thank you so much. @@janiethecraftprincess life being what it is I mixed it this afternoon, but I made it and the humidity in the air was siting around 80% so I wound up needing an extra half cup of cornstarch. I'm going to try and make a drop spindle and whorl and possibly a few naalbinding needles

Currently, according to our little weather station, indoors it's 21% and outdoors it's 5%.....and according to Google it's 14%.......and it's 88 degrees (F). Like I said, dry heat, dry cold, dry snow. I can definitely understand your humidity effecting the recipe. I'm sure that is the problem others are having when they tell me it's "soupy". I have been using cold porcelain to create life-like flowers for sale many years. Recently, I started making items in molds to diversify my wares. I wanted to have the items still wet to glue them on applications that were not always flat, so need the molded clay to be able to curve. Well, I took a hint from the chocolate making community...I put the mold in the freezer and when frozen it pops right out easily and still in the proper shape allowing me to reuse the mold with an hour instead of having to wait overnight or longer for it to dry. I haven't tried that method with this clay yet, but as it does not shrink or at least doesn't to the extent that the cooked version does, I haven't proven that it would work in this application, but I believe it would work here just as well. I will try making my lifelike flowers with this version also, if it works, it would save time, electricity from using the microwave, multiple steps,...if it does work. Sounds like you use it a lot more than I do......I would love to see what you make. I have another video on the cooked (microwave) method but find this no cook method less messy. I hope it works for you the way you want it to. I have only let it air dry and never thought about freezing it and am not sure how that will work. I freeze soap when I make it instead of letting it set over night.....quicker and easy to release from the molds. Let me know how that works with the cold porcelain when you try it. OK, I made the clay as you instructed. It was like soup in my bowl. I added more cornstarch. I had to add a lot more cornstarch. I am testing out the molding method, but thus far, I prefer the cooked version by far. This would not work, for creating the life-like flowers, unfortunately. I may try it out on other applications, but not the flowers. Thanks for your efforts. Blessings!
@@christiedecker2724 I'm sorry you had this experience, but with this no cook method there is no way you followed the directions and had it look like soup.....it is physically impossible with there being more cornstarch (or even equal cornstarch) than the liquid ingredients, especially with thick liquid ingredients like glue. I didn't just give you a recipe, I recorded it so you can watch and see what to expect, and as you saw it was VERY THICK and not liquid at all. At 11:55 minutes into the video, right after I first mixed it, you can see the spoon standing up by itself in the mixture while I'm putting on my gloves. I'm not sure where you went wrong......what part of the ingredients that you misread.....but you might want to try it again. The consistency and texture is identical to the cooked version and does make beautiful flowers. I hope you try it again and double check my ingredients and watch the video again. I really think you will like this, but if not, just stick with the cooked version :) Hugs....Janie

@@KnoviceCosplay I'm glad you watched because I want people to see with their own eye instead of me just saying it. I think you will have fun with this cold porcelain. I have used it in molds and with cookie cutters and freehand. Be sure to give it plenty of time to dry.....the thicker the object the longer it will take. And let it air dry....do not try to speed it up with heat. Be sure the "dough" is soft and stretchy.....it's not like other "clays" that have a firm texture. This recipe is the best! I must give the shout out. Today I thought I would make a different recipe thinking it would be larger. It was the same as this recipe except that it called for one cup of cornstarch and 3/4 of a cup of glue. It was a sticky mess and I wrestled with it for nearly an hour. I will never deviate from this recipe. Unless she comes up with one that's better ☺️

hi! thanks for the video.. one question..once its made how do i store the clay? should i keep the container out at room temperature or do i need to keep it in the fridge?
Keep at room temperature. Keep it sealed tightly in plastic wrap and in a sealed container (as I showed). If stored properly it will be usable for several weeks. Have fun 😊
You really don't have to let it dry in the mold I certainly don't I let the air dry my molds. So don't get broken hearted. Your Jewelry is so beautiful. 💖🌹
Yes I know.....I just prefer to let them dry in the molds. But maybe some day I'll try it the other way. I know it's easier to take it out of the mold right away if you are going to add it to something else right away or need to shape it around something. Thanks for the great tutorial! I suppose sealing it with a resin or other waterproof sealer will protect it from water. I saw on TV years ago on the Aileen's craft show how to make cold porcelain with a slice of bread, Aileen's tacky glue and craft paint. Made some small roses and they turned out great! But this is better for making larger batches. Looking forward to trying it!

I have no idea. It would probably not turn out the same. You can pick up corn starch at the Dollar Tree if you're looking for cheap. But flour and corn starch are different and will most likely create a different dough. You can always try it 😊

Mold? Like does it get moldy? No....not at all.....not ever. The lemon juice or vinegar is probably what prevents that....but really I've never known any clay or modeling substance to get moldy. And honestly, there is nothing in this to mold. But you know.....it's a good question I guess. I hope I have helped.
Oh, I can't wait to try this! I used to love making things from polymer clay, but I had to stop once we got a parrot (the fumes, you know, and I was scared of the cooked cold porcelain for the same reason). This looks really nice ♥

Can you pop them out of the molds prior to completely drying, like you can with store bought clay? I'm wanting to shape a mold around objects I'm working with.
Yes, you can definitely remove it from the molds before it is dry. Usually you can remove it from the molds immediately, depending on the mold. I have seen many people do what you are wanting to do. Have fun 😊

Well that is a very good question. I have never heard of anyone doing that or seen anyone do that, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. It might be messier than doing it by hand. Next time I make some I'm going to try mixing it all in a ziplock bag so I can knead it without getting it all over my hands.....might be a little less messy. Then you can just turn the bag inside out to remove the dough. But if you try using a mixer, please let me know if works 😊 Hugs....Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess we are in process of packing everything up to move. But I got an old mixer I use to mix soap, paints and body creams. I have dough hooks for it and never used them for anything. I am gonna go for it if I ever get my craft room back.
Hello, I really enjoyed your video. I have been using cold porcelain for about a year, but I just recently started putting it in molds. I was wondering if you have trouble with it bowing. Mine isn’t drying flat. It’s rounded when it’s dried. If so, could you give me any tips on how to get it to dry flat. Thank you so much.
Hi 😊 Yes I do have a problem with it bowing......well not all of them, only the thinner ones. However, I haven't tried this yet, but I have seen people pop them out of the molds right after they mold it, and then apply it to whatever they are making with it. I don't know if you take it out and lay it flat if that will prevent the bowing. But.....I have tried with deeper intricate molds (like roses) and it doesn't come out good until it's completely dry. I do love that the butterflies curve though, it adds realistic dimension. But I do not have any bowing issues with most molds, just the thin ones. As far as I know the answer is no. Flour and corn starch are two different things.....so just like when baking you wouldn't replace one with the other. But feel free to try it if you would like, however just be prepared that it won't be the same.

Is cold porcelain permanent after drying or does it fall apart in time?
Cold porcelain is solid and smooth, not porus like some "clays". I have never had any fall apart over time, and have some that are several years old. In fact some that I showed in this video were at least 3 years old and this video is 2 years old, so over 5 years or longer nothing has fallen apart. I honestly don't see how this can fall apart. It's inexpensive so just give it a try. I also have a video on making a version that you cook. I think you will love this cold porcelain 😊

I have no idea......but I'm pretty sure it would effect the texture and consistency. My suggestion is try it, if it works great, and if not then you will know 😊
Could you use a stand mixer with dough hooks to knead it? That would cut down on the mess on your hands.

Not that I know of....at least so far I haven't noticed a difference. I'll be honest, I was worried it would not be as strong. But I think it works great. The no cook version is definitely easier to make. I also have a video on the cooked version so maybe you can try both and see what you think. Can I use clear washable Elmer's glue instead of the school glue?
Don't know.....don't have it....haven't tried it. Let me know if it works 😊 I have never used the clear Elmer's glue for anything so I don't know if it has a different consistency, but I would think it's a different formula, so it may not work. I would imagine it would need some sort of adhesive to adhere to papier mache or anything else. I have only used it to make embellishments and jewelry (as you saw in the video) so it's already hard at that point. I guess you could always give it a try.....it's not like it's expensive to make. And as for your question about "can it be sanded".....anything can be sanded, but why would you want to? It has such a beautiful finish. I have never sanded it because I like the smoothe finish, but like I said, you can alway give it a try. You could always make a half batch to experiment with.....it costs pratically nothing to make. @@janiethecraftprincess Many thanks. What I am intending it for is the final layer of clay on two very big floor standing flat faced, decorative vases. And because the area needs to be flat and totally smooth I can't do a level, wrinkle free, line free, stroke free area. The final product will be high gloss which would show any irregularities.
@@chrissiemac8500 I'm not sure what you are planning to use to mold the cold porcelain, but it dries beautifully smooth like silk. If the mold has texture obviously the finished result will have texture. If you are freehanding it I'm sure you can keep it smoothe. I highly suggest experimenting with it before doing such a special project. Good luck.
@@janiethecraftprincess I was thinking of just... smearing it on? Like I do with the papier mache clay. It to cover a broad flat area and unless I some how can adhere it and then use something like a rolling pin to flatten it out/smooth it out, I don't know any other way. I've never used it before but the "Porcelain" part of it would suit the finished look I am trying to achieve with the vase. The papier mache does not smooth out enough and the more I try to smooth it the more the fine paper bits come to the surface. I was hoping that I didn't have to sand the entire thing. One vase stands at 1.2 metres tall.

I'm not sure I understand your comment. Preserve......do you want to know how to preserve it? The vinegar or lemon juice perserves it.....and keep the unused cold poreclain wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in an air-tight container. Which types material glossy? I'm totally lost with that. This cold porcelain has a smooth, non-porous finish. If you want a glossy finish I would use a sealer on the finished project.....something like Mod Podge Glossy (brush on or spray), or a Krylon spray. I really don't know if I answered your question since I really didn't understand your comment, but I hope I helped 😊

Yes they are hard as a rock.....it's suppose to be. Since you are asking about hooks and rings I'm guessing you are wanting to make jewelry and not embellishments. To create holes for jump rings, I use a tooth pick to poke a hole through while it's still soft. For pendants I glue a bale to the back after it's hard. I hope this helps. 😊

I have been using this for about 5 years and nothing has ever molded. The lemon juice is to prevent the growth of bacteria or fungi (got that from Wikipedia). This also has a silky smooth hard surface, unlike other modeling substances/clays. I still have some pieces that are from when I first started using this and they are still as beautiful as when I first made them. In fact, some of the pieces I showed in this video, like the necklace, are about 5 years old. I hope this helps. I also have a video with a recipe that requires cooking (in the microwave). No refrigeration needed. As I show and tell in my video, you just need to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and store in an air-tight container :)

I don't see why not. You might have to glue them in, but I'm not sure because I've never tried that. I have seen people do many things with this, including taking it out of the mold right away while it's still flexible and wrap it around things, and use it without a mold (I have done that to make beads). Hi, I was wondering if you can use Elmer's wood glue or mod podge instead of Elmer's glue. Thank you.
I wish I had a difinitive answer, but I have only used Elmer's glue. There are so many variables with Mod Podge......for example which formula do you plan on using (there are probably a dozen different Mod Podges). I am a big Mod Podge fan and pretty much own them all. I don't think any of them have the same consistency as Elmer's glue. Also Mod Podge is mostly a sealer and finish, even though it does have some adhesive properties, but probably not the same as glue. Being as this is an inexpensive formula, you might just try making a half batch and see how it works. I do know that other people have tried substituting an ingredient and the cosistency turns out wrong. But I'm a firm believer in trying things to see what happens. Good luck 😊
How do you get cold porcelain to harden? The clay I've tried dries rubbery. Also what kind of glue do you use?

Is this heavy if I want to create bigger articles?
I'm sure I showed in the video how light weight it is....but if I didn't show in this video I must have shown in my other cold procelaine video. So it is very light weight and sturdy. Larger things will take longer to dry all the way through so give it plenty of time. Depending on how large you might even want to give it days. I have never done anything that large, but did leave a batch unused way to long and it did become solid....LOL. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie
