I've been wanting a air dry clay for a long time, I found one in the nearest stationary shop but it was a bit too expensive for me so I've wanted to make one myself and so this video is super useful
The best air dry clay video I have ever seen!!! Thank you for all of the thought and time you put into this😊
thank you robyn 💖
Haven't watched anything quite this awful and u say it is good., she had her closeup way too far in
And the music I had to shut off. And I just had to stop half way in and refocus on it
Thank you for showing the difference between the two clays. I’ve been looking online to figure out why clay is cooked and what the difference is but couldn’t find anything until I found your video. I’ll give it a try today! Blessings ❤️
good luck and happy claying! 💚
You have tell us each and every method and querys that we have thank you 😊😊❤
Excellent video, both on video content and the way it was presented - not always a given in other similar videos of this genre I have watched. I have been looking for effective ways to make my own clay and this fits the bill. You have helped me on my project and gained a subscriber.
Thank you Stewart for the feedback! It means a lot :) I'm glad you find it helpful and thank you so much for subscribing! 💖
This might be one of the Best tutorial I've seen for diy air dry clay. You gave clear instructions and even told us how many days it takes for the clay to fully cure. I really liked how you compared both the cook and non-cook method with their pros and cons. You deserve more subs, there's no way you're this underrated!
Also, can you reduce the time or curing by using a hair dryer or some sort? I'm making a sculpture for my gf's project which is due on Tuesday. I'm planning on making the sculpture a bit big so i kinda worry it wouldn't cure on the day of submission.
thank you so much ronan! glad you appreciate it 💚
if its possible for you to use aluminum foil or paper as a base and just use clay on the surface of your sculpture that could help reduce the time it takes to cure.
putting my works in front of an electric fan helps it cure faster. using hair dryer sounds possible but not sure how well that works so i suggest you try that with a small amount of clay first.
Thank you for explaining the difference from cooked and none cooked 😃
Thank you!
This video is AMAZING 🤩

Can you please help me how to make my clay flexible after curing? TIA
@@mildredperez5846 hm so far im still experimenting on how to make clay more flexible so i cant really give you anything atm but this particular recipe is semi flexible when you make thin pieces with it while thicker pieces are pretty solid when fully cured.
Thank you so much.very useful and details given by you. This is very helpful for me
You're welcome and i'm glad it was helpful to you! Happy claying! 😄💖
Thankyou so much. I made my clay but it was breaking this video helped alot. I will definitely try

Hi. Can you use lemon juice instead of vinegar ? And I heard that air dry clay shrinks after its dried. Is it true ? Thank you for the video.

congrats you made it! 😊👏
Thank you so much, my clay ended up rubbery twice and I didn’t know what was wrong until I found your video!
glad this was helpful!
Very clear. Thank you
Thanks for the feedback Heather! 💖
Great video! When do you use hand lotion....on hands only or in mixture? Was not clear.
hands only. it's just to prevent the clay from sticking
Very nice and precise video. Thank you for this. I tried the cooked clay and while drying the sculpt is getting curved. How do I get that fixed.
Thank you so much! 💖 The clay has to be entirely exposed to air while drying. If your piece has a flat back, you may use a mesh or silk screen to dry it. Flip the piece from time to time to prevent it from curving. If the piece is rounded, you may hang it or stick it to a stand if possible to keep its shape. :)
Fabulous video thank you🇨🇦
Thank you Maggie! 😊💖
Thank you for your excellent video! Enjoy it very much. Is there a difference between white glue and latex glue? Can i use normal whire glue instead of your type of glue?
hmm sorry im a bit confused bec i know what im using is also just a pva-based glue like other regular white glues out there. i am not familiar with latex glue
Thank you for this video!! What do I do if the clay is sticky after it set? I've made on the stove and in the microwave and both was so sticky I couldn't get it out of the bag.
That means it's either really undercooked, or the ratio of starch:glue is incorrect. Just kneed more starch into it, or cook it a little more and you should be all set
Hello, thank you very much for the awesome tutorial. I tried your recipe and even though it didn't pass the raindrop test, it dried really strong and could easily remedy the cracks and what not. My second batch became too soft and I made blocks of them at first, then made sculptures via carving. But I have a problem with molds during the rainy season here in the Philippines. I panicked and ended up throwing away my airdry sculptures and the few blocks I wanted to carve. How do I prevent molds from forming? Was there a way to remove the molds from the sculptures?
thank you! glad it worked well for you 😊
as for the molds, adding white vinegar or lemon juice should help prevent them. making sure your hands and anything that comes into contact with the clay is clean will prevent that from happening too. hope this helps!
im from ph too and never really experienced my clays getting molds even though they've been on storage for a long time. and unfortunately, you can't really save clays that already has molds. even if you remove them, they will just grow back :/
galing galing nica
eiiii salamuuuccchh 💖💖 oo try mo masaya mag clay!! haha ikaw ba wala ka balak mag start din ng youtube? c tin gumwa na ah, may pa-teaser pa XD
Hello! I made the no-cook clay recipe and it turned out quite well! But when I added colour to it lots of little cracks formed (something like dry land which is dehydrated). Can u please tell me a solution if u know about it?
Can you suggest, which clay is best for jewelry making
Ang ganda naman po ng pagkakaedit hehehe 😍😍😍😍
haha salamaaat 😁💕
i like your video explanation so helpful thank you😘.. 😁
Thank you Lhannnee! 💖
Thanks for the very informative video! Will def try this out! Was it easy to clean the pan afterwards?
Thank you so much Pat! 💖 Yes, you can easily clean the pan by putting water to it and let it soak or let the clay residue dry completely and peel them off the pan 😄
Thank you so much!
Thank you very interesting video. 👍
thank you! 💖💖
heyy i know cornstarch is important but is there anything which could be a replacement for it ? amazing video by the way!
sorry not sure. haven't tried to use anything other than cornstarch
Thank you. Lovely tutorial❤❤❤ Extremely methodical approach. Truly a commendable job.👌👍👏
Want to know the percentage of shrinkage once dry.
shrinkage is around 10-20%
talked about this more in detail in my 'how to properly cure air dry clay' video 😊
@@zainclayarts Thank you. I will check the mentioned video.
What a brilliant and lovely tutorial, thank you! I'm thinking about making a square plant pot, do these clays dry flat when rolled thin (maybe ½-1cm), or does it bow/curl?
thank you Rachel! glad you appreciate it 💖 i don't really recommend using air dry clay for plant pots or anything with moisture since it's possible that the clay might soften even if it's sealed. however, you can use it as an outer layer or for decoration for like a plastic pot for example.
to answer your question though, yes it can dry flat but it depends on the way you let it cure. make sure to flip it several times to let all areas get exposed to air while it's drying.
@@zainclayarts perfect, thank you! My plan is to use it as an "outer"; have a pot inside it, and possibly even glue a thick plastic bag inside
in that case, be sure to get rid of air bubbles and be on the lookout for some cracking due to shrinkage. good luck on your project! hope it'll turn out great 😊
so helpful ❤❤❤thankssss
Glad you find it helpful! 💖💖
Very well explained. Thank you.Can we use it to make miniature food models ?
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful 😁
Definitely! It's the clay I personally use to make my miniature foods!
@@zainclayarts Thanks for responding. One more question I wanted ask was how long can we store it for future use?
Hm I'm not exactly sure about this as I usually just make enough amount of clay to prevent cases where I have to store it and leave it unused for a long time but I think it can last for about 3-6 months depending on how it's stored.
If you want it to last longer, make sure to store it in a tightly sealed container. I would suggest a jar while also keeping it in a ziplock for extra security. I have a japanese-brand air dry clay stored in a jar and it's still in pretty good condition after being stored for more than a year now. :)
I do reccomend also using oil based paint. That was the recommended one when I learned about this many years ago.
Yes, I've seen others use it however I believe water-based paints are less toxic than oil-based ones.
Thank you for this amazing video!❤
I tried this today and to be clear, the tear drop shape is to be formed soon after kneading or after placing a few hours...?
after letting it set for a few hours or overnight
Thank you for a great tutorial. How durable is it and can I use it in silicone molds? Thank you.
thick pieces made with this clay are pretty durable. if you can add some kind of base or support inside, that will make your pieces much more durable. and yes, you can use them with silicone molds. apply oil on the molds so it wont stick
I have watched your video for the first time. I really liked it very much because you have explained every detail and shown all the steps. Thank you for making such a detailed video. I have a question that does the gesso or texture paste be substituted with this clay?
I actually tried making gesso just with glue, cornstarch, and white paint. it works great! I followed another tutorial here on YT. You can search "DIY gesso" :)
Thank you so much
Thank you. 🩷
Thank you so much about this video this is amazing
Thank you!! I'm glad you like it 😄💕
@@zainclayarts no problem ☺️✨
Am going home to try this
good luck! ✨
Thank you for this video... can you let me know about shrinkage with both...
amount of shrinkage mostly depends on how wet the clay is for both versions. generally, both can shrink for about 10-20% 🙂
Thank you ☺️
Hi, just a quick question. Thank you for the brilliant tutorial, but, I have been making a polymer air dry "picture" which will be attached to slate.
I did not add colour as I made it, as I wanted to be able to paint shades, making it "pop" out.... is this ok to do? I have a varnish made for polymer to complete it.
Should I continue, or start again with mixing the colours to clay before shaping it? Thanks
yes that's totally fine! for the varnish though, i think it's best to search if your varnish is compatible with the paint you're using coz sometimes varnishes can dissolve the paint and smudge it all over :)
I just want to ask if it is ok to cook the non cook clay?
Hi.. Nice n well explained tutorial. I have a doubt, the clay I made is little translucent when it gets dried. How to get opaque white clay?
Cold porcelain dries translucent, you can add white paint to it.
Thank you! Yes, @Farheen Yaseen is right. This type of clay is translucent when it dries. You may use acrylic paint or poster paint to add color to it. Just mix it directly with the clay after it's set.
This is one of the most detailes vids on yt! ❤
But is it compulsory for cling wrap? Coz I don't have it at home.. 😅
it kind of is, since it's to make sure the clay won't be exposed to air. i would still recommend using one even if you have an airtight container to store the clay.
Hi, Loved the tutorial. Had no idea what the differences where between cooked and non-cooked. You explained things very well. I do have a question, does either one shrink considerably after dried?
shrinkage depends on how much moisture is left in the clay after you sculpted it so i dont think any of them shrinks more than the other. generally, adc shrinks about 10-20%.
@@zainclayarts Thanks, already made my first batch. Can't wait to get started.
Thank you ❤️🙏🏻
Hey, the best video ive seen about this type of clay, i just tried the no Cook version but i dont understand why it hasnt the right consistancy, it cracks, doesnt makes the teardrop shape.. And it has this Sandy texture. I really measured all the ingredients i dont understand what i am doing wrong.
you may check the "how to check clay consistency part" i included fixes for such cases there. pls make use of the timestamps in the description or in the pinned comment. thank you :)
What varnish can I use on the cooked clay xx
Very informative. My clay got overcooked and rubbery. Same quantity undercooked clay should be used to rectify it ??
that depends on how dry your overcooked clay is. if you're unsure, there's really no harm in mixing a lot of undercooked clay with it. your clay will just be softer and you can just air dry it a little to get the right consistency.
Hello! 👋🏻
Thankyouuuu for this wonderful tutorial ♥️
But can i ask?
Can i bake it?
pls read the FAQs page , link in the description :)
Thanks a lot
Tysm! I coudnt find the comparison anywhere, and I really needed it, also I like the way you made the video, it was very informative and I liked the graphics very much.
I just want to ask one question tho, im making, pendants with my bff and I wanted to ask which is thr best for making them, cooked or non- cooked clay?
Thankyou!
Hi Navya! I'm not quite sure if you've watched the summary part but I already mentioned there that cooked clay is "generally" better. There's also a comparison part between the two which shows and explains the differences and why cooked clay is better. Please watch those parts for more info. Timestamps are available in the description and pinned comment. Thank you! :)
@@zainclayarts I did watch them, but it seems i missed the summary , btw I made the cooked clay and it turned out great! Thankyou
@@creativeteeny925 That's great! Glad you find the video helpful and thanks for watching 😊
Can i use any glue? Like the ones that are used for woods or cloths or should i use only the school glue?
using wood glue should work. not sure about fabric glue or other ones
Now job. Thank you.
thanks for this very elaborate tutorial~ may I ask if diy cooked air dry clay better than polymer clays bought from stores? thanks
can't say for sure since they both have pros and cons. which is better really depends on your preference and what works for you. in my opinion though, polymer clays can be more durable than air dry clays and they are waterproof once baked.
Hi! Love your video. What do you personally prefer?
Thank you! 💖 I personally prefer the cooked method! :3
When I try this I’m like :D she makes it look sooo easy, you have great talent, soon I might even start another UA-cam channel on clay XD
haha thank you 💖 go for it! :)
Thank you so much 🥰

Hi. I came across another how to video accidentally, so I watched and tried it for 1st time tonight. It did not come out right at all. Ingredients were not for cornstarch but chalk powder and no vinegar. It was so soft, wouldn't come out of my mould!! Can I save it or through away and start over is only option?? Spent so much $ on chalk stuff already.. it's just flopping downwards on the table. What am I doing wrong miss?
