The amount of engineering going into being able to build one of these machines from scratch is absolutely insane. The fact Jasper and his team are able to do this just blows my mind. Might be one of the most impressive things I’ve seen on this channel.

I think most people, don't like the design of the cars. I personally think they're just ugly. I respect the craftsmanship and the intention behind the design though.
Very expensive car's when new.... a base C8 in 2008 set you back $+350k. Cars with such pricetags are mostly bought as a investment... and that's the problem.... That same C8 now is only worth around $18 to 24k depending on how well it is maintained..... It wasn't a stable brand....
@@xenax95 I mean clearly we all like what we like but I’ve always found spykers gorgeous. Only issue was they were underpowered for what they are. I find the gorgeous cars and interior is next level.
It was a parts bin special back then. Much more expensive than a 911 or an R8, but slower. Not as well built. So I think people looking for a usable daily sports car in that price segment, went with those. On the other side, people looking for something exotic, got a Pagani or a Koenigsegg. So its a niche within a niche,, with tough competition at the time.
Please don't forget Donkervoort. When talking about Dutch car brands, than Donkervoort must not be forgotten. Donkervoort actually still excists up until this day! and in about 4 years Donkervoort has been succesfull around for half a century! 50 years! but spyker is nice also....
I saw a Spyker when they debuted at a motor show in Seattle and have been captivated ever since. I had never seen such attention to detail. Beautiful cars.

This makes me think back to when I was at Circuit Zandvoort and they were test driving a prototype of the Spyker C8 when they were developing it. It was not painted, just bare aluminum. But the raw thunder of the Audi V8 you could hear all around the circuit. It is a shame that it went bust. But I love seeing Jasper keeping them alive and even building a new one. And when he mentioned his gold one I thought: that can't be good. But it actually looks great! The only gold car that is not ridiculous. This car is made to be golden.
This is so impressive, not just having these cars in one place but also reviving the complete production of these magnificent machines. Doing 110% justice to the legacy!
What an amazing operation they have going on. Keeping Spyker alive and specialising in the restoration of these epic cars is awesome. And taking out the Spyker racecar was a treat. Such a visceral experience.
I have loved Spyker from seeing them for the first time. I have models of all the 1:1 cars. I have copies of all the DVDs of the racing history of the return to racing. I very well remember when Spyker was revealed for the first time, I was completely blown away. The interior with the original propeller steering wheel and the gear selector was completely incredible in terms of beautiful materials, attention to detail and finish and I really thank you for bringing back this car, despite is like a Spyker reborn but nevertheless it is clear how much love and passion this fella puts in keeping alive the flame for these extremely unique and beautiful cars. Of course the Zonda and the Huayra and of course the new Utopia by Horacio Pagani are the new reference for this exquisite products but no doubt the C8 Laviolette was the pioneer and for me is really the original car more to be in a museum than inside a car dealership.
Epic! Jasper is doing a great job and it is really true that since he started doing maintenance and making parts the values went up. A lot of Spykers were kept in storage, not driving or sold for way to low prices. Now the price keep going up. There or so many special versions. There is one with a special hardtop with a roofscoop, Jasper should start making those as they are much more pretty then the hardtop in this video. No mention of his D12 SSUV Peking to Paris that he is working on.. ? Kept that for a next video? Thank you Tim for making this video!

It's so good to see the passion for the Spyker. I saw one at a car show a few years ago. Everyone gawked over the base model Huracans and Gallardos, no one paid attention to the Spyker that was worth more than both.

I don't know where it was but I saw a movie or series once where the rich guy drove an absolutely stunning car that I've never seen before. It totally catched my attention and I loved it. It was a Spyker. Me: 🤯😳
In the winter of 2004/5 for Christmas we went to visit my mother's family in the Netherlands. I insisted on looking for the Spyker factory in a tiny little spot on the map of which I forget. I arrived unannounced with my aunt and her then young daughter and asked if we would be able to tour the factory. The secretary was nice enough and said that such a thing was not possible. I insisted but no go. So I stood for as long as I could in the little lobby and played with the consoles from the cars they had on display. This was until a rather large skinny Dutchman snapped at me to say, "ITS NOT A TOY!". Now when I say I was playing with these display consoles...I was 'playing' with them as an adult and not as some undisciplined 6 year old would do. I moved one of the aero designed switches but only the 2nd or 3rd time when this man had said this. Feeling sadly disappointed and ever so slightly disheartened, I managed to take home a rather nice brochure on the lineup at that time. Despite all this I would continue to root for them partly because of my mother being half Dutch and partly for my love of cars. Fortunately or Unfortunately they went under due to some rather bad business practices. Looking back now they were alot like what Pagani is now with these custom handmade aeronautical design language and sort of bejeweled consoles. (Just saw that Shmee shared my sentiment now watching the rest.) Beautiful cars still!
I can understand the fact that one becomes a Spykerenthusiast; especially the one made from scratch with four exhausts is lovely; it looks by many respects like a Pagani, and it challenges a Pagani; Spykers definitely have got a strong identity, visually speaking
the front is reminescent of aston martin's aesthetics while the back looks like a lotus. the interiors seems to have some retro throwback with exquisite craftmanship

For people that want to know more about Spyker's origins and want to see classic Spykers, go to the Louwman museum in The Hague. Automotive heaven and they have a specific Spyker exhibition.
Love it! If you ever want to try a special one. We own a GT2 C8 and organize trackdays with it. But it will cost you a shmoo de cow, since i tried to buy one allready 3 times 😂

I was lucky enough to work on an ALMS team and luckier enough to be able to go to LeMans from 05-08. Got to see one of these cars in person and even got the tour of their garage. Awesome group of guys
When I first see the Spyker, always compare interior details to Pagani. Nice to hear Tim say this also edit - had no idea they made this to race in Le Mans, I appreciate Spyker a lot more after watching & listening to Jasper 🇳🇱 👏👏
There was actually a silver C8 Double 12s with C12 headlamp had quad exhaust in China, I talked to the owner's son (last name Zhu) a few years back and I remember he told me that car was also supercharged (or maybe turbocharged I cannot remember clearly).

Jasper should definitely build one not too fancy track version and let Misha drive it on the Nurburgring ring. I fell in love with Spijker in the first Grid game, where I could pass GT1 cars with C8 GT2 in corners, heck I even remember finishing a couple of races above some GT1 cars and in the first NFS most wanted the bardot C8 was a beasty car.
Wow, so incredibly raw !! Totally the anti-EV, in the most positive sense. EV is the future of efficiency and quiet - this is the ultra-raw. Very cool.

There was actually a silver C8 Double 12s with C12 headlamp had quad exhaust in China, I talked to the owner's son (last name Zhu) a few years back and I remember he told me that car was also supercharged (or maybe turbocharged I cannot remember clearly).

I fell in love with Spijker in the first Grid game, where I could pass GT1 cars with C8 GT2 in corners, heck I even remember finishing a couple of races above some GT1 cars and in the first NFS most wanted the bardot C8 was a beasty car.
